Laurie Cohen has been a bulldog with the city trying to get all the rules and regulations in order so we could have an old fashioned block party like we used to do. Here is what she found:

First order, if we get 80% of signature on the street we'd have to block off the street at Foothill, not where the street forks in the 200 block. That means all the folks at the bottom of the hill who never participate for whatever personal reasons they have, would have to sign off on the party as well. I don't see that happening.

Second order of discussion, even if we block the street we can't put out any tables, games etc., in the street. It would all have to be in a yard(s) where we have a large flat section for tables etc., as the street has to remain open for emergency vehicles.

After looking at the two obstacles we've hit in rebooting the party I need you to talk with each other and figure out who's yard(s) we could use for a block party. Absent that this idea will have to just wither on the vine and I don't think we want that to happen.

Please talk with Laurie (lzelby1@gmail.com) or myself (frazgo@msn.com) with your ideas and we'll share here and personally. I so want this to happen and have the street return to the big happy family it was when we first moved here.frazgohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17198308811995511973noreply@blogger.com0
