Good afternoon all. Laurie Cohen has been a bulldog with the city trying to get all the rules and regulations in order so we could have an old fashioned block party like we used to do. Here is what she found:
First order, if we get 80% of signature on the street we'd have to block off the street at Foothill, not where the street forks in the 200 block. That means all the folks at the bottom of the hill who never participate for whatever personal reasons they have, would have to sign off on the party as well. I don't see that happening.
Second order of discussion, even if we block the street we can't put out any tables, games etc., in the street. It would all have to be in a yard(s) where we have a large flat section for tables etc., as the street has to remain open for emergency vehicles.
After looking at the two obstacles we've hit in rebooting the party I need you to talk with each other and figure out who's yard(s) we could use for a block party. Absent that this idea will have to just wither on the vine and I don't think we want that to happen.
Please talk with Laurie (lzelby1@gmail.com) or myself (frazgo@msn.com) with your ideas and we'll share here and personally. I so want this to happen and have the street return to the big happy family it was when we first moved here.

Block Party Votes are in July 4 is the winner
The votes are in. July 4 was the most optioned date for the Block Party.
Shortly we, Laurie Cohen and myself will go door to door getting signatures of the neighbors to get the permit from the city for the block party. ( No cost....just need 80% approval).
Put your thinking caps on...what sort of games and or entertainment would you like to see at this years party? What time of day...hours of operation? Sound off in the comments or let us know when we visit for your signature.

Keep the votes coming in for Block Party Reboot
Dust off your lawn chairs, pick out your best recipe and VOTE for your choice of date for the Block Party Reboot.
The options are July 1, July 4 and July 8
So far we have the following votes.
July 4 or July 8
July 1 or July 4
One solid July 1
One solid July 8
4 solid July 4
Also...what sort of activities do you want to see happen at the Block Party? We have in the past had dessert cook-offs, rib cook-offs, water gun fights, dunking tanks, bean bag toss, best float, best kids bike (when we had a parade for the kids)...anything I forgot? Anything you'd like seen added?
You can vote in the comments here as well!
