Stolen Vehicles.
May 18 in the early morning hours, three vehicles were reported stolen to police. The vehicles were stolen from the 100 block of W. Walnut, the 400 block of W. Walnut and the 300 block of N. Encinitas. Two of the vehicles stolen were 1999 Honda CRVs and the third was a race car and trailer. All three vehicles were stolen sometime overnight. The investigations are continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
May 18 at 12:15 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of E. Walnut called police to report a theft from his vehicle. Sometime during the night, someone entered his vehicle and stole his wallet and miscellaneous property. The vehicle was left unlocked. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
May 18 at 9:09 p.m., a grand theft was reported in the 1200 block of S. Alta Vista. The victim parked his vehicle on the street in front of the location. While he was away from the vehicle, the catalytic converter was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
May 18 at 9:52 p.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation at Shamrock and Royal Oaks. During a consent search, the passenger of the vehicle was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
May 18 at 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding a possible theft of a bicycle. During the investigation, they ran a computer check on one of the subjects at the location and discovered he had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested for the warrant.
Traffic Collision – Vehicle vs. Pedestrian
May 19 at 6:45 a.m., police responded to a traffic collision in the 100 block of E. Pomona where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived and determined the pedestrian was walking south across Pomona toward a gas station. The vehicle was
traveling east on Pomona and the driver had the sun in his eyes. He did not see the
pedestrian and struck him at a low rate of speed. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries
and refused medical treatment. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Vehicle Burglary
May 19 at 8:15 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 400 block of W. Duarte
Road. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in his assigned carport. Sometime
during the early morning hours, the vehicle was entered and ransacked. There was no
sign of forced entry and no loss occurred. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 19 at 6:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle and the 210
Freeway regarding a possible drunk driver. The officers checked the area and located
the vehicle on Duarte and Myrtle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was
determined to be too intoxicated to operate a motor vehicle safely. The driver was
arrested for DUI and later released after a sobering period, with a citation to appear in
court on the charges.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon / Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm – Suspect
Arrested
May 19 at 8:29 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a family disturbance at a
residence in the 500 block of E. Walnut. While officers were responding, calls were
received stating a gunshot had been fired. Officers arrived, secured the scene and
conducted an investigation. The investigation revealed an adult male suspect at the
location pulled a 9mm handgun on his girlfriend's sister and pointed it at her. He
discharged the gun, missing the victim and striking the ground. The weapon was
recovered at the scene and the suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon
and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Theft From a Vehicle
May 20 at 10:28 a.m., a theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported in the 300 block of
Meadow Lane. The victim called to report that sometime during the early morning hours,
someone entered his vehicle and took a drill that had been left inside. The investigation
is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 21 at 6:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle and the 210
Freeway regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway. The officers arrived and located a
vehicle blocking the northbound lanes of travel. A female subject was asleep behind the
wheel and the engine was running. A passenger was in the front seat, also asleep. The
investigation revealed both subjects were extremely intoxicated. The driver was
arrested for DUI and the passenger was arrested for being drunk in public. Both
subjects were held for a sobering period.

Highlighted Activity for March 27-29, 2017
Injury Traffic Collision
March 27 at 5:23 p.m., an injury traffic collision involving a solo driver who struck a parked vehicle at El Dorado and Encino was reported to police. Officers responded and found the driver had sustained a facial injury. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver is believed to have been impaired by prescription medication. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
March 28 at 12:36 a.m., dispatch received an alarm activation at a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington. Officers arrived and found the front glass door had been smashed. The location was searched, but no suspects were located. Officers viewed security video, which depicted three suspects in hoodies breaking out the front glass door. The suspects entered the business and took expensive racks of sunglasses and fled the location. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collision
March 28 at 9:19 a.m., an elderly male subject gained access to the keys to a family vehicle and backed out of the driveway of the home. The subject accelerated, crossed the street and collided into his neighbor’s house. Although the home sustained damage, it remains inhabitable. The investigation revealed the elderly male has a suspended license. The subject was cited and the vehicle was impounded.
Mail Theft
March 28 at 12:07 p.m., a resident of an apartment complex in the 1800 block of S. Fifth Avenue called to report a theft of mail. He reported that the complex mailbox had been pried open and mail was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon – Firearm
March 29 at 5:03 p.m., an assault with a deadly weapon was reported to police. The victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in front of a business in the 400 block of E. Duarte Road. A male passenger was also in the vehicle. A male suspect
approached the vehicle on foot and fired four shots, striking the victim. The victim drove to his home in Duarte and contacted police. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for February 6-8, 2017
Attempt Burglary
February 6 at 7:37 a.m., the owner of a business in the 100 block of E. Chestnut called police to report an attempt burglary at the business. Someone had tampered with the chain link fence that encloses his compressor and the rear door of his business. The suspect pried the chain link fence open and attempted to pry open the rear door, but was unsuccessful and there was no loss. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
February 6 at 10:41 a.m., a shoplifting incident was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. A suspect entered the store, selected merchandise from the shelf and attempted to make a fraudulent return of the stolen merchandise. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
February 6 at 11:58 a.m., a resident in the 1400 block of S. Magnolia Avenue called police to report her daughter was trespassing on her property. The investigation revealed the suspect was served with a valid no trespassing order and had gained entry into the property by unknown means. She was located inside the location in violation of the order and was arrested.
Elder Abuse – Suspect Arrested
February 6 at 3:30 p.m., during a follow up investigation of a reported elder abuse incident, the suspect was contacted and interviewed. The suspect admitted to taking checks and cashing them from her elderly family member’s bank account, totaling over $3000. The suspect was arrested and is being held pending her court appearance.
Commercial Burglary
February 7 at 6:04 a.m., a burglary was reported at a business in the 100 block of E. Chestnut Avenue. The suspect gained entry into the building by forcing open the rear door. A laptop and hand drill were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon / Criminal Threats – Suspect Arrested
February 7 at 11:49 p.m., officers were dispatched on the report of an assault with a
deadly weapon at a business in the 600 block of S. Myrtle. The suspect entered the
business and approached an employee. He pointed a knife at the employee and made
terrorist threats, saying he wanted to kill her. The suspect moved toward the employee
in a threatening manner and then fled on foot. Officers searched the area and located
the suspect. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Attempt Vehicle Burglary
February 7 at 7:38 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 700 block of E.
Huntington regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked his 2015 Lexus in the
parking lot and went into the business. When he returned to the vehicle, he noticed his
window had been smashed. Surveillance video shows two suspects arriving in a black
Jeep Cherokee. One of the suspects was seen in the video breaking the driver's side
window and the two suspects flee when the alarm on the vehicle sounds. The
investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
February 7 at 7:52 p.m., dispatch received a report of an alarm activation at a residence
in the 200 block of Terrace View. Officers arrived and did not see any vehicles leaving
the property. Further investigation revealed the side and rear door to the residence were
both forced open. Officers searched the residence, but no suspects were found. It
appears the suspects ransacked the home and were inside for some time before setting
off the alarm. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
February 8 at 10:16 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of Terrace
View. The back door had been forced open and the home had been ransacked. The
loss could not be determined until the homeowners could inventory the location. The
investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
February 8 at 11:33 a.m., the victim of a grand theft called police to report her son had
stolen her vehicle, a 2011 Mercedes C300 from the 1000 block of E. Huntington.
Attempts were made to contact the suspect with no results. The investigation is
continuing.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery / Possession of Loaded Firearm – Suspects Arrested
February 8 at 4:35 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle traveling north on Myrtle at
Chestnut. The vehicle was stopped on Foothill and two occupants were arrested. A
loaded firearm was discovered inside the center console of the vehicle. The suspects
are being held until their court appearance.

Highlighted Activity for January 19-22, 2017
Battery
January 19 at 9:16 a.m., a battery incident was reported at Maple and Mayflower. A male and female subject were involved in an argument, and the male subject punched the female in the face and walked away. The female was treated by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics. She did not know the male subject's full name. The investigation is continuing to identify the suspect.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 19 at 10:38 p.m., police responded to the report of a vehicle that had just crashed through the gate of the cemetery in the 200 block of E. Duarte Road. The reporting party gave a description of the vehicle and driver. An officer responding to the incident saw a vehicle matching the description heading north on Ivy. The vehicle had collision damage to the front and two flat tires. The officer stopped the vehicle and after investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. The driver was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Robbery – Suspect Arrested
January 20 at 8:24 a.m., a robbery was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. A male subject shoplifted items by placing them in his waistband and walking out of the store. Store loss prevention officers attempted to detain the suspect outside of the store, but he resisted and a struggle ensued. The suspect was ultimately detained by loss prevention and no one was injured. The suspect was arrested.
Robbery
January 20 at 10:06 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a robbery. The suspect entered the business, selected four purses from a display rack and walked toward the exit doors. A loss prevention agent stepped in front of the suspect to block his path to the door. The suspect grabbed the loss prevention agent in a choke hold, pushed her out of his way and fled the business with the merchandise. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
January 21 at 12:37 p.m., a grand theft incident was reported at a business parking lot
in the 400 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked his Toyota Sequoia in the lot and
went into the business. He returned to his vehicle approximately an hour later and
discovered the catalytic convertor was taken off his vehicle. The investigation is
continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
January 21 at 2:37 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the area of Lemon and
Heliotrope. The victim parked his vehicle on January 20 at 6:15 p.m. He returned to his
vehicle the next day and found it had been broken into and ransacked. A handbag
containing a computer and a bag of tools were taken. The investigation is continuing.

January 21 at 2:40 p.m., a caller reported that a white Toyota Corolla had been parked
in the 1100 block of Carmelita Circle for several days and wanted it marked for 72 hour
parking. A computer check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of
Whittier. The vehicle was recovered.

January 21 at 2:44 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of N. May.
The victim parked her vehicle on the street the day before. She returned to the vehicle
the next day and found the interior had been ransacked. A pair of headphones and two
bags of new women's clothing that were left in the vehicle were taken. The investigation
is continuing.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon – Two Suspects Arrested
January 21 at 9:41 p.m., a male subject was talking on his phone in the 300 block of S.
Primrose. Three suspects walked by and began laughing at him. The victim walked
away and the suspects followed him. When he got to the corner of Lime and Primrose,
the suspects surrounded him. One of the suspects hit the victim several times in the
face. Another suspect pushed him in the back. The victim was pushed and hit by the
suspects. During the assault, one of the suspects took his belt off and struck the victim
twice with it, causing a laceration to his head. The suspects then fled, running west on
lemon and south on Magnolia. The victim notified police.
Officers arrived and checked the area. They located two of the suspects at a residence
in the 200 block of W. Colorado. The suspects were identified by the victim and
arrested. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
January 21 at 11:22 p.m., a subject was reported dumping trash behind a business in
the 400 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and detained the subject. A computer
check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a pat-down search,
the subject was found to have a glass pipe and a small baggie of methamphetamine on
his person. He was arrested and taken into custody.

January 22 at 12:32 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Magnolia and Huntington.
One driver rear ended the other. Officers arrived and determined there were no injuries.
One of the drivers admitted to taking prescription drugs and after investigation, was
determined to be under the influence. She was arrested for driving under the influence.

January 22 at 4:36 a.m., an alarm company called to report an alarm activation at a
business in the 900 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and saw the glass to the
front doors had been smashed. Officers cleared the location, but no suspects were
located. It was determined that the suspects took the till from the cash register, but
there was no money inside the till at the time. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
January 22 at 10:03 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported at a hotel in the 900 block
of W. Huntington. The victim reported that her vehicle had been vandalized while it was
parked overnight in the hotel parking lot. The rear driver's side window was shattered.
The investigation is continuing.
