Highlighted Activity for September 5-7, 2016


Restraining Order Served / Warrants / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 6 at 1:33 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of W. Walnut called police to report a male and female adult were his backyard causing a disturbance, and that he had a restraining order against the female. Officers responded and located both subjects. The female was detained, served with the restraining order and later released. The male subject had several outstanding warrants and was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody for the charges.
Wanted Suspect Arrested
September 6 at 7:50 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 100 block of W. Foothill saw a suspect that he knew was wanted by State Parole. The suspect was to be considered armed and dangerous. When the suspect saw the officer, he ran and hid inside a trash dumpster. The suspect was pointed out to police by a witness who saw him get into the dumpster. He was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Possession of Methamphetamine – Suspect Arrested
September 6 at 11:37 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 2000 block of S. Mountain when he saw a male subject sitting in a vehicle. The vehicle was parked in front of a fire hydrant. As the officer approached the vehicle, the subject exited and walked away. As he was walking away, he attempted to toss a baggie containing methamphetamine on the ground. The suspect was detained and arrested.
Felony Hit and Run Traffic Collision
September 17 at 8:27 a.m., a female juvenile was riding her bicycle west on Colorado and passed the intersection at Mayflower. The suspect was traveling North on Mayflower in a vehicle and made a left turn onto Colorado. After the turn, the suspect veered to the right and sideswiped the bicyclist, causing her to lose control of her bike and fall to the ground. The suspect fled the scene of the collision. The bicyclist sustained abrasions to her knee and elbow. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 17 at 2:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of W. Huntington regarding a male subject passed out in a bathroom. The officers arrived
and contacted the subject. The subject was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe and was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 7 at 7:46 p.m., an officer stopped a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation. During a consent search, the subject was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
September 7 at 9:06 p.m., a business in the 900 block of S. Fifth Avenue called police to report a subject sleeping in their lobby who was refusing to leave. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was uncooperative. The subject was subsequently arrested for trespassing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
September 7 at 9:09 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of S. Sherman regarding the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the occupants. The subject in the driver seat was determined to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested. The passenger was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hot Prowl Burglary
September 8 at 1:22 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of S. Peck Road regarding a suspect who opened a sliding glass door and began entering a home. The female resident was asleep inside. She heard the sliding glass door opening and screamed. The suspect immediately fled the home. Containment of the area was set up and the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter responded to assist. A search of the area was conducted, but the suspect could not be located. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for April 11-17, 2016


Grand Theft
April 11 at 8:56 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Canyon called to report a theft from his vehicle. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence the night before, and when he returned to the vehicle the next morning, he found the tailgate was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision / Vandalism / Assault with a Deadly Weapon
April 11 at 10:22 a.m., officers responded to the area of California and Duarte regarding a traffic collision that had just occurred. Party one/victim wanted to exchange her information with party two/suspect, but he refused. The victim began to video the suspect and his vehicle with her phone. The suspect then took the victim’s phone from her and threw it on the ground. The suspect then got into his vehicle and tried to drive away. The victim and her passenger proceeded to stand in front of the suspect’s vehicle demanding him to stop and get out of the vehicle. The suspect moved forward and struck one of the females, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground. She did not sustain any visible injuries. The suspect then left the area before officers arrived. A vehicle description and a thorough search of the area was conducted, but did not locate the suspect or his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
On April 12 at 10:22 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the above traffic collision. A traffic stop was made and an interview was conducted. The suspect admitted to his involvement in the hit and run traffic collision. The vehicle was impounded and the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office.
Injury Traffic Collision
April 11 at 1:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Magnolia and Maple regarding a traffic collision. Party one was headed south on Magnolia and crossed over into oncoming traffic to go around a vehicle in front of her. She then struck a vehicle headed north on Magnolia. Party one was taken to a hospital for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 11 at 10:21 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Orange called police to report hearing her back sliding glass door shattering while she was inside her home alone. She had barricaded herself in her bathroom and called 911. An officer arrived, cleared the residence and found evidence of an attempted burglary. It appears the suspects fled after the alarm system on the home was activated. The investigation is continuing.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 11 at 11:37 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of E. Foothill called police to report noise on the first floor of her home. She was inside her bedroom and was awakened by her son banging on her door. The son heard noise on the first floor and the power to the home suddenly went out. The investigation revealed the suspects cut the electrical power to the residence by turning off the main circuit breaker on the side of the home. The suspects removed a window screen and pried open a rear window to gain access to the residence. It appears the suspects were scared away, as nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
April 12 at 2:18 a.m., dispatch received an alarm activation on a business in the 300 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived and found the front door had been pried open and the suspects had entered the location. Officers cleared the location and no suspects were found. The owner had just arrived and determined nothing had been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 12 at 8:15 p.m., officers went to the residence of a wanted suspect to locate and arrest him. For several days, officers were called to locations on the report of a male suspect seen inside women's bathrooms. His presence inside the women's restrooms and acts he had committed in the restrooms constituted a crime. Officers completed a thorough investigation, which led to the positive identification of the suspect. The suspect is known to the police department from prior contact. A computer check also revealed the suspect had several outstanding bench warrants for his arrest. Officers went to the suspect’s residence, located the suspect, and placed him under arrest. During a search of the suspect, drug paraphernalia was located in his possession. The suspect was booked and housed on the warrants and the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office.
Suspicious Circumstances / Burglary – Three Suspects Arrested
April 13 at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of suspicious suspects in the area of Lemon and Sombrero. The suspects appeared to be stealing items from a porch. The suspects were witnessed picking up items on the street near the intersection of Lemon and Sombrero and fleeing in a dark truck. Officers located the vehicle heading east on Royal Oaks, where they conducted a traffic stop in the City of Duarte. Three suspects were detained. They were found to be in possession of large amounts of cash. The investigation revealed a cash register, cash and store receipts belonging to businesses in the City of Duarte, which were determined to have been burglarized during the evening hours. Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies arrived, took over the investigation, and took custody of the suspects.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 3:35 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a bicyclist in the 100 block of E. El Norte for a vehicle code violation. The suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Warrants / Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 6:43 a.m., a resident called from the 1000 block of Royal Oaks to report their 41-year-old son was causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and detained the subject. A computer check revealed he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and was wanted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for violating his county jail work release. He was arrested for the warrants, and during a search incident to arrest, officers found him to be in possession of methamphetamine and a syringe. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
April 14 at 10:52 p.m., officers responded to an audible alarm at a residence in the 300 block of Bradoaks. When they arrived, they located a shattered rear glass door. The residence was cleared and a person responsible for the residence was located. The home had been ransacked and several items were missing. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
April 15 at 2:39 a.m., a victim called to report his vehicle was stolen in the 200 block of W. Maple. The victim parked his vehicle in the alley behind his business and left the car keys on the hood of the vehicle. He returned approximately two hours later and the vehicle was gone. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Methamphetamine / Driving on a Suspended License / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
April 15 at 4:29 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of California and Duarte. The vehicle was stopped for the violation. The driver was found to be driving on a suspended license and had warrants for his arrest. During a search of the driver, he was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested for the above listed charges.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 15 at 5:42 p.m., dispatch received several calls reporting that a vehicle collided into a parked vehicle in the 100 block of E. Colorado and drove away. Additional calls were received as the driver hit other vehicles. The suspect vehicle was located and a thorough investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving under the influence. There were three vehicles located that were hit by the DUI driver and two victims were taken to the hospital due to injuries.
Outside Assist / Newport Beach Police Department – Suspects Arrested
April 15, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Newport Beach Police Department responded to a residence in the 1800 block of S. Mayflower to conduct an investigation. When they arrived, they saw the suspect exit a stolen vehicle. They watched the
location, informed the Monrovia Police Department about the circumstances and asked if Monrovia could conduct a traffic stop if the suspect left the location. At 8:30 p.m., Newport Beach police officers detained the suspect outside the location. They later booked three suspects at the Monrovia Police Department facility.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 16 at 12:07 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Shamrock and Huntington for a vehicle code violation and discovered the driver had been drinking. After investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested, taken into custody and held for sobering.
Commercial Burglary
April 16 at 9:26 a.m., a business owner in the 2600 block of S. Peck called police regarding a burglary. The suspects jumped a rear fence and broke a large window on a rear door to enter the business. A laptop, television, power drill and miscellaneous garden tools were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Incident – Vehicle vs. Bicycle
April 16 at 12:01 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a traffic incident. A bicyclist was heading eastbound on the north sidewalk of Huntington. The bicyclist veered onto the street because of pedestrians on the sidewalk and got his wheel stuck in a groove, causing him to fall into the lane of traffic. He was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound at approximately 20 mile per hour. The bicyclist refused medical treatment and left the scene on his bike.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 16 at 12:18 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of E. Cherry called police to report a burglary. The resident arrived home at approximately 1:00 p.m. He was sitting in a chair dosing off while watching television in his living room when he heard noise from a back bedroom. He thought it was his child and was not concerned. When he awoke in the morning, he remembered that his child had slept at a friend’s house. He went to check the back bedroom and found the window screen off and the window open. The resident said nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Critical Missing Adult Located
April 16 at 6:25 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Montana regarding a critical missing adult. The 80-year-old male was last seen at the location at 2:00 p.m. He has memory loss, vertigo and dementia. Available units began an area search. A blood hound was utilized and tracked the subject’s scent to the Metro Station near the platform. The Rail Operation Center was contacted and notified. A missing bulletin was forwarded and disseminated to their personnel. The Foothill Air Support Team helicopter conducted an area search on several areas requested, and local hospitals and businesses were contacted. At 1:30 a.m., the subject was located by City of Industry deputies. Monrovia officers responded to his residence after he arrived home to speak with him.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
April 16 at 9:59 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report three suspects concealing merchandise inside the store. When the officers arrived, they located one suspect outside and he was detained. Two additional suspects were detained when they exited the store a short time later. During the incident, the first suspect walked up to a vehicle prior to being detained. Police could see inside the vehicle and observed a credit card embossing machine, large amounts of mail, tax information, and other suspicious items. The vehicle belonged to one of the suspects and was eventually searched and stored. All three suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Vandalism
April 17 at 11:03 p.m., a resident called police from the 100 block of Maple reporting three to five subjects on the roof of a business. Officers responded and found fresh graffiti on the roof. No suspects were detained. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Injury Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 3:10 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Diamond regarding a traffic collision. The vehicle was driving west on Diamond and collided with two parked vehicles, causing the vehicle to roll over on its side. The driver was taken to a hospital with complaint of pain. The driver appeared to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision. The driver admitted to being intoxicated and a verified complaint request will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office.

Highlighted Activity for November 5-8, 2015


Theft From a Vehicle
November 5 at 6:55 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 800 block of West Duarte Road. The victim went to his vehicle, which he had parked in the carport area, and saw items were missing. He realized he left the vehicle unlocked and someone entered his vehicle without his permission and had stolen his belongings. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
November 5 at 4:10 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, heading south on Ivy from Colorado. Officers tried to catch up to vehicle, but lost sight of it until a caller reported a subject fleeing from a vehicle matching the description in an alley in the 200 block of West Maple Avenue. Officers arrived and located the unoccupied vehicle. A search of the surrounding area was conducted for the fleeing suspect, but no suspect was located. The vehicle was stolen earlier in the day from another city.
Identity Theft/Fraud Investigation
November 5 at 6:58 p.m., an officer responded to a location in the 800 block of West Duarte. The victim reported that several credit card accounts had been opened fraudulently in her name by an unknown suspect. The suspect had also canceled her cell phone service. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
November 5 at 7:05 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of North Ivy. The victim parked her vehicle and had left it unlocked. An unknown suspect entered the vehicle and stole several items that had been left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle
November 5 at 8:12 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of East Huntington. The victim reported her 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from the business parking lot while she was at work. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 6 at 8:16 p.m., a theft was reported at a business in the 500 block of West Huntington. An adult female walked into the store, selected and concealed several items in her purse, and walked out of the business without paying. She was stopped outside by store loss prevention. An officer responded to the location, arrested the suspect and took her into custody. She was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 6 at 10:37 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a theft of merchandise. A male and female went into the business and concealed several items of merchandise on their persons. They attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise and were stopped by loss prevention personnel. An officer responded to the business and they were arrested and taken into custody. They were later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Hot Prowl Burglary
November 7 at 7:38 a.m., an elderly resident in the 1000 block of East Huntington Drive phoned police to say she heard a noise inside her mobile home sometime in the middle of the night. She went into the spare bedroom to see what the noise was, but did not notice anything unusual. She did not turn on the lights. She returned to the room in the morning and found the screen had been removed from the window, which she had left open, and the room had been ransacked. Two pieces of costume jewelry were missing. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision
November 7 at 4:31 p.m., officers responded to the report of a male subject who had driven his vehicle into a wall in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. Officers arrived and found the subject unresponsive behind the wheel with the doors locked and the windows rolled up. The officers broke a window to the vehicle to gain entry. Once inside, they determined the subject was breathing. It was determined that the subject was intoxicated and was possibly driving under the influence. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Charges will be filed pending blood test results.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
November 7 at 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Lime regarding a male and female adult couple arguing. When Officers arrived, they learned the male had struck the female in the face with a clenched fist during the argument. The male suspect was arrested and taken into custody for domestic violence.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 8 at 5:20 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Colorado and Ivy regarding a subject passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle running. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving under the influence and held for sobering.

Highlighted Activity for December 1-3, 2014

Traffic Collision
On December 1 at 12:11 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in the area of California and Lemon. An elderly female failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a motorist traveling south on California. The victim in the other vehicle sustained minor redness and complained of pain and dizziness. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Driving Under the Influence of Drugs / Mental Evaluation – Suspect Arrested
On December 2 at 10:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to the corner of Lime and Ivy, where a male subject had driven his car on the wrong side of the street, exited his car, and began yelling, frantically, that someone was shooting at him and trying to kill him. He fell over the curb, then stood up and tried to open the doors to the Police Department Emergency Operations Center. When he could not get the doors open, he ran to the front of City Hall and entered, still yelling that someone was trying to kill him. He was detained by officers. He was arrested for being under the influence of a
controlled substance and for driving under the influence of drugs.
Later in the evening at 7:53 p.m., the jailer requested the subject be reevaluated for mental issues. After talking to the subject and having him checked by Monrovia Fire  Department paramedics, it was determined that the subject fit the criteria for a mental evaluation. The subject was taken to a hospital, where he was held for a 72 hour mental evaluation.
Attempt Residential Burglary / Hot Prowl
On December 2 at 6:54 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of West Colorado called police to report an attempt burglary. The resident woke up upon hearing noises at the door. A check of the door revealed the framing around the door was broken as if someone tried to break into the home. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Bicycle – Suspect Arrested
On December 4 at 3:58 a.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from the front of a business in the 400 block of West Foothill. The bicycle is a higher-value mountain bike. The bicycle was locked and secured to a concrete trash receptacle. As patrol units were searching the area for the bike, an officer saw a male subject riding the stolen bike in the 1200 block of Encino. The suspect rode the bike up the driveway of a residence. As the officer pulled up to the residence, he saw the suspect walking out from the side of the garage. The suspect was arrested and the stolen bicycle was recovered.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On December 4 at 5:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic collision in the 1200 block of South Alta Vista. A vehicle had collided into a parked car. Upon investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested.

Highlighted Activity for October 2-5, 2014

Grand Theft Bicycle – Suspect Arrested
On October 2 at 7:17 p.m., police were alerted to a bicycle theft that occurred at a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain. The suspect was heading toward the city of Duarte. An officer responded to the area and located the suspect riding the stolen bicycle near Huntington and Buena Vista. The officer detained the suspect and recovered the bicycle. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
On October 3 at 1:13 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of West Colorado. The victim left her residence at 12:00 p.m. and was gone for approximately one hour. When she returned home, she found her residence unsecured and the inside had been ransacked. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
On October 3 at 1:39 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 200 block of North Mountain. The residents left the home at 8:00 a.m. and secured the doors. When they arrived home, they found a rear bedroom window had been smashed and jewelry was taken from two rooms. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On October 3 at 11:04 p.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Magnolia and Olive when he observed a motorist committing several vehicle code violations. The officer stopped the motorist and discovered the female driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for DUI and taken into custody, where she was held for sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On October 3 at 11:14 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Huntington observed a male subject crossing the intersection against a red traffic signal. The officer contacted the subject and discovered he had an outstanding warrant issued by the Alhambra Police Department. The subject was arrested for the warrant. Alhambra officers arrived and took custody of the subject for their warrant.
Felony Hit & Run Traffic Collision
On October 4 at 4:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Grand to a hit & run traffic collision. Upon arrival, two occupants were found trapped inside of a vehicle. The suspect vehicle had fled the scene. Monrovia Fire Department responded and used firefighter extrication tools to remove the occupants. The occupants were both male juveniles and had sustained moderate to severe injuries. The driver of the victim vehicle was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision Follow-up
On October 4 at 10:05 a.m., officers were flagged down by an adult male subject in the 1200 block of Encino Avenue. The subject woke up this morning and discovered his red Ford Expedition had been damaged sometime during the night. He confronted his 16-year-old daughter about the damage. She appeared to have been drinking and said she did not know anything about it. Officers contacted the daughter and she admitted to using a shaved key the night before to take the vehicle and to being involved in a hit and run accident near Grand Park. After obtaining her statement, police stored the
vehicle for evidence. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On October 5 at 2:07 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Evergreen observed a vehicle traveling north on Myrtle strike a curb. He made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The female driver admitted to be intoxicated. Field sobriety tests revealed the driver was intoxicated; she was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary
On October 5 at 12:28 p.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a hotel in the 1400 block of Monterey. The victim was conducting a seminar at the hotel. He left his laptop computer in the seminar room and went to the lobby to meet some clients. When he returned a short time later, his computer was gone. The victim called police and an officer responded. The officer viewed security video of the room and recognized the suspect in the video. The officer located the suspect on Monterey, recovered the computer and arrested the suspect for burglary.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of January 2-5, 2014

Grand Theft 
January 2 at 8:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a construction site in the 700 block
of West Duarte Road. The foreman at the site reported that someone had cut the chain
link fence off of the wash, entered a house under construction, cut the steel chain
securing the property, and left the location with an air compressor and three hoses. The
investigation is continuing.

Felony Vandalism
January 2 at 8:54 a.m., an officer responded to the corner of Olive and Myrtle on a
report of vandalism to city property. A city employee reported a toy soldier holiday
decoration had been forcefully removed from its base and thrown among the plants.
It’s unknown if it can be repaired. The investigation is continuing.

Theft from a Vehicle
January 2 at 2:26 p.m., the victim parked his vehicle on the street in front of his
residence in the 200 block of Highland in the evening. He returned to the vehicle the
next day at about 11:00 a.m. As he entered the vehicle, he realized his backpack was
missing from the rear sear. The backpack contained an iPad and a laptop. The vehicle
is equipped with a self-locking system that secures the vehicle after being unattended
for longer than three minutes. There were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is
continuing.

Felony Hit and Run Traffic Collision - Vehicle vs. Bicyclist
January 2 at 4:05 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Hillcrest regarding a hit
and run collision. A bicyclist reported that he was struck by a tan or gray Toyota and
was complaining of pain to his side. The male driver of the vehicle left the scene,
eastbound. The vehicle has damage to the front driver's side. The bicyclist was taken
to a hospital for treatment. The investigation is continuing.

Prowling on Private Property / Violation of Court Ordered Gang Injunction – 
Suspects Arrested 
January 3 at 4:20 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 900 block of South Magnolia observed
a suspicious suspect who appeared to be looking into a vehicle at Chestnut and
Magnolia. Containment of the area was set up and an additional suspect was
discovered. Both suspects are known gang members. One of the suspects has been served with the gang injunction notice and the other was served by the officer. Both
suspects were arrested for prowling on private property and one of them was charged
with violation of the gang injunction.

Theft from a Vehicle
January 4 at 7:06 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of North
Magnolia. The victim parked his vehicle the night before at 9:00 p.m. and left it
unlocked. When his wife went out to the vehicle the next morning, she found the glove
box and center console were open. The victim checked the vehicle and found property
was missing from the center console. The investigation is continuing.

Residential Burglary 
January 4 at 8:00 p.m., a burglary alarm was activated in the 00 block of Hidden Valley
Road. Officers responded to investigate and found property on the front lawn of the
residence. A perimeter was established and the Foothill Air Support helicopter checked
the area for suspects, but none were located. It appears the residence was ransacked.
The owners responded and were doing an inventory of the loss. The investigation is
continuing.

Possible Hot Prowl in Progress / Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested 
January 5 at 2:30 a.m., a resident in the 500 Block of South Mayflower called police and
reported a suspect trying the handle of the back door of their home. They watched the
suspect light a cigarette and start smoking. Once the officers arrived, they determined
the suspect believed he was at a friend’s house and he was waiting for the friend to get
home. The suspect was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for being drunk
in public.

Vehicle Burglaries 
On January 5 in the early morning hours, four vehicle burglaries were reported to police.
The burglaries occurred in the 100 block of Spanner, 400 block of West Hillcrest, and
the 700 block of West Foothill. The vehicles were all broken into overnight and items of
value that were left in the vehicles were taken. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for the Week of October 28-30, 2013

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 29 at 3:04 p.m., officers responded to a park in the 400 block of South California on the report of several male subjects in the park involved in drug activity.  After investigation, officers arrested one male suspect who was found to be in possession of a glass pipe and methamphetamine.  

Hot Prowl Residential Burglary

October 30 at 11:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of North Alta Vista regarding a hot prowl burglary that just occurred.  The owners of the residence were away from the location at the time of the burglary and a housekeeper was home, asleep inside one of the bedrooms.  She was awakened by two male Black suspects that came into the room.  When the suspects saw her, they ran out the backdoor of the residence.  The housekeeper called the homeowners, and there was an approximate twenty minute delay until the owners arrived home and called the police.  Officers responded and the area was searched, but no suspects were located.  A rock had been thrown through the backdoor window to gain entry to the home.  The investigation is continuing.
