Highlighted Activity for January 5-8, 2017


Vehicle Tampering / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
January 5 at 7:12 a.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious male adult pulling on the handles to several parked vehicles in the 100 block of W. Lemon. Officers arrived and located a male subject matching the suspect description. They contacted the subject and noticed he displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A witness identified him as the suspect tampering with vehicles. The suspect was not able to convey a reason why he would be looking into vehicles. He was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and vehicle tampering.
Attempt Burglary
January 5 at 2:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of S. Primrose on the report of an attempt burglary. Officers found that a window pane to the front door of the residence had been shattered, but the door was secure because of a key deadbolt. Officers cleared the residence and the homeowner found that nothing had been disturbed. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
January 5 at 4:30 p.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 1300 block of S. Myrtle. The investigation revealed that a large quantity of merchandise had been ordered online from the business. The suspect had the merchandise shipped out of state. When payment was not received, the victim contacted the alleged buyer, who informed the victim they did not order the merchandise and no product was delivered to them or any of their customers. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 5 at 11:10 p.m., a female suspect was reported shoplifting from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. The suspect entered the business and selected merchandise. She approached the return counter and attempted to complete a return of the store merchandise with an altered identification card, which was denied.
She fled the store, but was detained by officers outside. The investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of narcotics, a wallet with stolen identification from Palm Springs and she had an outstanding warrant out of San Bernardino County. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
January 6 at 9:34 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 800 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in the parking lot of the business and went inside. She returned to find her passenger window had been smashed and items had been taken from the front seat of her vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Violation of Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
January 7 at 11:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of N. Shamrock regarding the violation of a restraining order. The parent of the subject being protected by the restraining order called police and reported that his daughter's ex- boyfriend was at the location with his daughter. Officers arrived and located the subjects inside the residence. They arrested the male subject for violation of the restraining order.
Shoplifting / Fraud – Suspects Arrested
January 7 at 11:29 a.m., loss prevention from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain called police to report two male suspects attempting to commit fraud. The suspects selected merchandise from inside the store and were attempting to return the merchandise for credit. After the transaction was completed, one suspect was detained by officers, but the second fled the store on foot. Officers gave chase and eventually detained the suspect near Shamrock and Duarte Road. He was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
January 7 at 7:08 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the area of Magnolia and Huntington. A female and male subject who are boyfriend and girlfriend were involved in a verbal argument that escalated. The boyfriend punched the windshield of the victim’s vehicle, causing damage. The suspect was located driving away from the area and his vehicle was stopped by officers. He was arrested for the vandalism.
Commercial Burglary
January 8 at 10:38 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 900 block of W. Huntington. The manager of the business called police to report the front door of the business was unlocked and the store safe was open. Merchandise was taken from the safe. No suspects were located and the investigation is continuing.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
January 8 at 11:31 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 300 block E. Walnut regarding a theft of vehicle parts. The victim reported that someone had cut the catalytic converter off her Toyota Camry sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
January 8 at 6:29 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Pilgrim Way. The resident left the location at 6:00 p.m., locking and setting the alarm. The alarm company notified police of an activation to the rear door and interior motion. Officers arrived and discovered the rear door had been forced open. No suspects were located and nothing was found missing. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
January 8 at 8:08 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of E. Foothill regarding a burglary. The victim left the location at 4:30 p.m., securing the doors to the residence. The victim returned to find the kitchen window had been forced open and electronic items were missing. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for February 1-3, 2016


Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
February 1 at 10:22 a.m., loss prevention from a business in the 500 block of West Huntington phoned police to report a male subject that had left the store without paying for merchandise he had concealed. Officers arrived and detained the suspect, who admitted to the theft. The suspect was arrested and issued a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
February 1 at 2:41 p.m., a caller reported a male and female fighting in a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Genoa Street. When officers arrived, the male and female had separated. They admitted to arguing over personal matters while sitting in the vehicle. During the argument, the female had slapped the male subject twice in the face. The male subject then punched the female in the face and body. The female sustained a large contusion above her right eye and possibly a broken nose. She was taken to the hospital for treatment. The male subject was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 1 at 7:43 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 1600 block of South Mountain and observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. The officer stopped the vehicle for the violation. The investigation revealed the subject was driving on a suspended license and had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
February 1 at 10:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Myrtle on the report of a traffic collision. The occupants of the vehicle are boyfriend and girlfriend. They were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation in the backseat of the vehicle. During the altercation, the vehicle rolled back and struck the curb. The male subject was determined to be the primary aggressor. He was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Traffic Collision
February 2 at 1:56 a.m., officers responded to the area of Magnolia and Cypress on a solo vehicle traffic collision. The driver was traveling south on Magnolia, made a right turn onto Cypress and lost control of her vehicle. She collided into a parked vehicle, continued on and then struck a curb, where the vehicle came to rest.
Commercial Burglary
February 2 at 2:36 a.m., police received a report of an alarm activation at a business in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. An unknown suspect threw a rock through the front glass door to gain entry. The location was ransacked, but no loss could be determined. The investigation is continuing.
Trespassing/Possession of Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
February 2 at 2:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of South Mountain regarding a subject found sleeping in a vacant home. Officers responded and located the subject, who was found to be in possession of stolen property. The owner of the residence desired prosecution for trespassing, and the suspect was arrested. Further investigation revealed the property he was in possession of was stolen from a business in Duarte. The suspect was identified by store clerks in a photo lineup. Additionally, the suspect was found to be on active felony parole. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Mail Theft
February 2 at 10:32 p.m., an incident of mail theft was reported in the 200 block of West Walnut. A Monrovia resident received a phone call from the Glendora Police Department reporting they had two suspects in custody that were in possession of the resident’s mail.
The resident then contacted her property manager, who told her he had reported the mail theft earlier that day to the Monrovia Postal Inspector, but didn't report the theft to police. Apparently, the suspects broke into the back door of the apartment complex mailboxes and stole mail. The officer took a mail theft report from the resident and forwarded the report to the Glendora Police Department.

Highlighted Activity for November 5-8, 2015


Theft From a Vehicle
November 5 at 6:55 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 800 block of West Duarte Road. The victim went to his vehicle, which he had parked in the carport area, and saw items were missing. He realized he left the vehicle unlocked and someone entered his vehicle without his permission and had stolen his belongings. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
November 5 at 4:10 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, heading south on Ivy from Colorado. Officers tried to catch up to vehicle, but lost sight of it until a caller reported a subject fleeing from a vehicle matching the description in an alley in the 200 block of West Maple Avenue. Officers arrived and located the unoccupied vehicle. A search of the surrounding area was conducted for the fleeing suspect, but no suspect was located. The vehicle was stolen earlier in the day from another city.
Identity Theft/Fraud Investigation
November 5 at 6:58 p.m., an officer responded to a location in the 800 block of West Duarte. The victim reported that several credit card accounts had been opened fraudulently in her name by an unknown suspect. The suspect had also canceled her cell phone service. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
November 5 at 7:05 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of North Ivy. The victim parked her vehicle and had left it unlocked. An unknown suspect entered the vehicle and stole several items that had been left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle
November 5 at 8:12 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of East Huntington. The victim reported her 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from the business parking lot while she was at work. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 6 at 8:16 p.m., a theft was reported at a business in the 500 block of West Huntington. An adult female walked into the store, selected and concealed several items in her purse, and walked out of the business without paying. She was stopped outside by store loss prevention. An officer responded to the location, arrested the suspect and took her into custody. She was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 6 at 10:37 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a theft of merchandise. A male and female went into the business and concealed several items of merchandise on their persons. They attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise and were stopped by loss prevention personnel. An officer responded to the business and they were arrested and taken into custody. They were later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Hot Prowl Burglary
November 7 at 7:38 a.m., an elderly resident in the 1000 block of East Huntington Drive phoned police to say she heard a noise inside her mobile home sometime in the middle of the night. She went into the spare bedroom to see what the noise was, but did not notice anything unusual. She did not turn on the lights. She returned to the room in the morning and found the screen had been removed from the window, which she had left open, and the room had been ransacked. Two pieces of costume jewelry were missing. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision
November 7 at 4:31 p.m., officers responded to the report of a male subject who had driven his vehicle into a wall in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. Officers arrived and found the subject unresponsive behind the wheel with the doors locked and the windows rolled up. The officers broke a window to the vehicle to gain entry. Once inside, they determined the subject was breathing. It was determined that the subject was intoxicated and was possibly driving under the influence. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Charges will be filed pending blood test results.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
November 7 at 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West Lime regarding a male and female adult couple arguing. When Officers arrived, they learned the male had struck the female in the face with a clenched fist during the argument. The male suspect was arrested and taken into custody for domestic violence.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 8 at 5:20 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Colorado and Ivy regarding a subject passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle running. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving under the influence and held for sobering.

Highlighted Activity for October 22-25, 2015


Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 22 at 3:20 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a shoplifter in custody. The suspect was seen removing price tags and placing lower-cost price tags on the items. He then attempted to purchase the items at the lower cost. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 23 at 7:20 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers were patrolling in the 200 block of East Duarte and contacted a subject. The subject was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. They arrested the suspect for the violation.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 23 at 9:19 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers were on patrol in the 700 block of East Olive when they contacted a subject who had two warrants out for his arrest. The suspect was arrested per the authority of the warrants and taken into custody.
Stolen Motorcycle
October 24 at 7:51 a.m., a resident called to report his motorcycle had been stolen from the 700 block of South Myrtle. The motorcycle is a 2016, red, Ducati. The theft occurred sometime between October 23 at 8:40 p.m. and October 24 at 7:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
October 24 at 6:49 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of West Palm on the report of a fight in progress. Upon police arrival, the fight had stopped and some of the involved subjects were gone. One of the subjects remaining at the location was contacted and determined to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. The subject was arrested and taken into custody for being drunk in public. He was held for sobering.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
October 24 at 10:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Foothill regarding a subject causing a disturbance. The subject was determined to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. He was arrested and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 2:15 a.m., a driver was stopped heading south on Myrtle for traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver was determined to be intoxicated. The driver indicated he was drinking at a relative’s house prior to being stopped. He was arrested and taken into custody. He was held for sobering and later released on a citation to appear in court.
Felony Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 3:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to an injury traffic collision in the 100 block of East Evergreen. The investigation revealed one of the drivers was intoxicated and rear-ended the other vehicle, which was legally stopped and waiting for the signal light to turn green. The victim complained of pain to her neck. The victim was treated at the scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics and taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The intoxicated driver was arrested. He was held pending the court appearance date.
Residential Burglary
October 25 at 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of East Cherry regarding a residential burglary. The suspects entered the home by breaking a window. The loss appears to be money and jewelry. The investigation is continuing.
