Highlighted Activity for July 20-23, 2017


Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Verified Complaint Filed
July 20 at 6:00 p.m., a disturbing subject was reported at a business in the 200 block of E. Duarte. An officer responded and located the subject driving a vehicle near the location. Through investigation, the officer determined the subject was driving under the influence of a controlled substance and he was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. A verified complaint will be submitted to the District Attorney for filing consideration.
Injury Traffic Collision / Missing Person Located
July 20 at 10:15 p.m., an officer responded to the report of an injury traffic collision in the 800 block of W. Chestnut. A vehicle traveling east on Chestnut moved to the right and collided with a parked vehicle. The driver, a 94-year-old male, suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He was disoriented and he thought he was in another city. The subject had been reported as a missing person from Los Angeles.
Residential Burglary
July 20 at 10:45 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of El Nido. The resident left the location at approximately 1:00 p.m. When she returned at 10:45 p.m., she found her home and been broken into and ransacked. A small safe and other miscellaneous items were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Battery – Verified Complaints Filed
July 21 at 12:31 a.m., a battery incident was reported in the area of Primrose and Linwood. Two subjects were involved in a fight. The suspects know each other and both desired prosecution. Verified complaints will be completed and submitted to the District Attorney’s office for filing consideration.
Violation of Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
July 21 at 8:30 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 200 block of W. Huntington when they saw a male and female that are the subjects involved in a restraining order. The female subject has a valid domestic violence court order to protect her from the male subject. Officers contacted the male as he was leaving the area and took him into custody for violation of the court order. The suspect was booked and is being held pending his court appearance.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
July 21 at 3:47 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 400 block of E. Walnut when they
recognized a subject they knew had a number of outstanding warrants. The suspect has
been evading arrest. Officers contacted the suspect and placed him under arrest. The
suspect was booked and is being held pending his court appearance.
Elder Abuse – Suspect Arrested
July 21 at 9:03 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of W. Duarte regarding a
disturbing subject. The suspect threatened his 84-year-old grandmother and pushed
her. She was fearful because of prior acts of violence. The suspect was arrested for
elder abuse.
Warrants / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
July 21 at 10:43 p.m., officers contacted two subjects in the 1300 block of S. Magnolia.
One subject was found to have warrants for her arrest. When she was searched, she
was also found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes. She was arrested and later
released to an outside agency on the warrants.
Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
July 22 at 1:29 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of S. Mountain
regarding suspicious persons in the area. Upon their arrival, one of the subjects ran. A
foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. He was arrested for
resisting and delaying a peace officer. He was booked and released on a citation to
appear in court.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
July 22 at 3:12 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations at the
intersection of Mountain and Huntington. He followed the vehicle and noticed the driver
was swerving. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was determined to be under the
influence of alcohol. He was arrested for DUI and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
July 22 at 6:00 a.m., the victim parked and locked her vehicle in front of her home the
night before. Sometime during the night, unknown suspects entered her vehicle and
stole the registration from the glovebox. Nothing else was taken. The investigation is
continuing.
Bicycle Theft
July 22 at 8:30 a.m., a theft of bicycles was reported in the 1800 block of S. Alta Vista.
Two bicycles were taken from an open garage. No evidence or witnesses were located
and nothing else in the garage had been disturbed. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
July 22 at 1:49 p.m., a domestic violence incident was reported in the 1300 block of S.
Mayflower. A male and female were reported to be verbally arguing in a parked vehicle.
Officers arrived and contacted the female, who was now standing outside the car and
had visible facial injuries. The male subject had left the area. The victim was treated at
the scene, but refused to be taken to the hospital. The investigation revealed her
boyfriend had battered her during an argument and fled prior to police arriving. Officers
located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him. The suspect was booked
and is being held pending his court appearance.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
July 22 at 7:04 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 300 block of E. Lemon saw a vehicle
attempting to park. The officer saw the vehicle collide into a parked vehicle. The officer
contacted the driver and, through investigation, determined he was driving under the
influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for DUI and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence / Hit and Run Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
July 23 at 12:04 a.m., dispatch received numerous calls reporting a vehicle had crashed
into a structure in the 100 block of S. Mountain. Officers arrived and found the driver
had fled the scene on foot. The occupant of the house the vehicle crashed into was
uninjured and none of the vehicle occupants were injured. The driver was located at
Mountain and Olive. He was identified by several witnesses and showed signs of
intoxication. An investigation was conducted and the driver was arrested for DUI.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
July 23 at 1:49 a.m., officers were working a DUI patrol assignment and observed a
vehicle speeding on Myrtle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver showed signs of
intoxication. A DUI investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be too
intoxicated to operate his vehicle safely. The driver was arrested for DUI.

Highlighted Activity for July 13-16, 2017

Injury Traffic Collision
July 13 at 11:00 a.m., a vehicle collision involving injuries was reported at a business lot in the 1400 block of S. Shamrock. A staff member was driving a customer’s vehicle and hit another employee that was driving a golf cart. The driver of the golf cart suffered a minor head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Vehicle Burglary
July 14 at 7:03 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in a business parking lot in the 500 block of S. Mountain Avenue. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in the parking lot and 6:00 a.m. When she returned at 7:00 a.m., she noticed her rear passenger side window was shattered. The victim reported that she had left her satchel on the rear seat of the vehicle. The suspect smashed the window, reached in and fled with the satchel. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting / Battery – Suspect Arrested
July 14 at 12:43 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. A suspect was attempting to leave the business with store merchandise without paying. As the suspect approached the exit doors, he was confronted by the victim who tried to detain him. The suspect battered the victim and attempted to flee. The suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel and placed under citizen’s arrest for battery. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Criminal Threats – Suspect Arrested
July 14 at 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 700 block of E. Central regarding a subject threatening an employee at the location. The suspect drove to Monrovia from Bakersfield after speaking to a salesman on the phone and confirming they had a vehicle he wanted to buy at the price he wanted to pay. When the suspect arrived at the dealership, the vehicle had already been sold. This infuriated the suspect because he had driven so far and he began threatening to harm the salesman. The suspect was arrested form criminal threats.
Residential Burglary
July 15 at 12:37 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 800 block of W. Hillcrest. The victim called police to report she had just returned home and found a female suspect inside her residence. The suspect fled, running east and out of sight.
Officers responded and searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The
investigation revealed the suspect made entry into the home through a back sliding
glass door and fled when she was confronted by the homeowner. Miscellaneous jewelry
was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Fight in Progress / Possible Hit and Run Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
July 15 at 7:14 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Los Angeles
regarding subjects fighting and a gun was reportedly seen. When officers arrived, there
were multiple subjects and multiple vehicles in the area, including an unoccupied
abandoned vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was found hiding on the roof of a home in
the area. He was apprehended by officers, arrested and cited for resisting and delaying
officers. No gun was located and the reporting party admitted she did not see a gun.
Further investigation revealed only a minor conflict had occurred and no other arrests
were made.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
July 16 at 1:58 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of W. Lemon
regarding a subject trying to break into a home. The officers arrived and found a male
subject outside the residence and he was extremely intoxicated. He thought he was at a
friend’s house. The subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. He was
arrested for public intoxication.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
July 16 at 6:43 a.m., a witness called police and reported a male suspect battering a
female in the 300 block of W. Chestnut. Officers arrived and detained both parties
involved. The investigation revealed that although there were no visible injuries, the
male had battered the female subject, who is his girlfriend. The suspect was arrested
and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 16 at 9:45 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of W. Olive when he
observed a male subject on a bicycle that ran a stop sign. The officer stopped the
subject and found he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a search of his
person, drugs were found in his pocket. The suspect was arrested for drug possession
and the warrant.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
July 16 at 3:30 p.m., a suspect was reported trespassing at a business in the 700 block
of E. Huntington. The suspect has been served with a no-trespassing order for the
location. Officers arrived, located the suspect and detained him. The video surveillance
confirmed the suspect had entered the store in violation of the trespassing order. The
suspect was arrested and issued a citation to appear in court on the charges.

Highlighted Activity for June 26-28, 2017

Vehicle Burglaries June 26 in the early morning hours, three separate vehicle burglaries were reported to police that occurred in the 1100 block of Royal Oaks. The vehicles were all parked in an apartment complex carport that is not visible from the street. Sometime during the night, unknown suspects smashed the vehicle windows and stole miscellaneous property from inside. The investigations are continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision June 26 at 2:35 p.m., an officer responded to the report of an injury traffic collision at California and Duarte Road. A vehicle was traveling west on Duarte and ran a red light, colliding into a vehicle traveling south. The southbound vehicle veered and collided into two other vehicles. One driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver that ran the red light was issued a citation.
Vehicle Burglary June 27 at 2:28 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of W. Colorado. The vehicle was parked in a secured portion of a parking structure. The suspect(s) cut open the rag top of the vehicle and took the victim's work key card, work identification and the vehicle manual. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft June 27 at 8:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched on the report of a grand theft in the 1600 block of S. Myrtle. Unknown suspect(s) entered the Station Square bathrooms and stole two hand dryers that were bolted to the walls. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle June 27 at 9:00 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of N. Mayflower. The victim reported that sometime overnight, unknown suspects stole miscellaneous items from his vehicle, which was parked in an alley next to his home. There were no signs of forced entry found and the victim was unsure if he secured his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested June 27 at 10:19 p.m., a vehicle collided into the center divider and a sign on Huntington Drive. Officers responded to the scene and through investigation, determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested for DUI and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested June 27 at 11:12 p.m., a caller reported a possible drunk driver in the 200 block of W. Lemon. Officers arrived and located the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and after investigation, the driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested  June 28 at 1:06 a.m., a loud crash was reported at Ivy and Lime, where three parked vehicles on Ivy were hit and sustained significant damage. The suspect vehicle left the scene, heading north on Ivy. The suspect and her vehicle were located shortly after on Encinitas, north of Palm, and the suspect was detained. No injuries were sustained. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting / Battery – Suspect Arrested June 28 at 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a female suspect who took items without paying. When security attempted to stop the female, a male subject who was with her attacked the security officer. The female suspect was arrested for shoplifting and the male was arrested for battery.
Theft – Suspect Arrested June 28 at 5:23 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a suspect who took merchandise without paying. The suspect was detained by store security. The suspect was arrested.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested June 28 at 5:55 p.m., a disturbing subject was reported in the area of Huntington and Magnolia. When officers arrived, they found an intoxicated male subject who was causing problems with other people in the area. He was too intoxicated to care for himself, so he was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Mail Theft June 29 at 2:08 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Myrtle called police to report that a suspect was breaking into the mailboxes at his complex. Officers arrived and searched the area, but did not locate the suspect. The officers checked the area and found that two complexes had their mailboxes pried open and mail was taken. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for June 19-21, 2017

Fire Assist June 19 at 12:11 p.m., officers responded to the report of a fire inside a residence in the 1700 block of Alamitas Avenue. When officers arrived, they saw smoke and located the fire coming from the kitchen area of the home. Officers extinguished the fire that was coming from the oven.

Missing Person Located June 19 at 7:26 p.m., officers were on a call in the 400 block of W. Maple when they saw a mentally challenged, adult female who they are familiar with from prior contacts, walking across a business parking lot alone. The subject is usually accompanied by her mother. A computer check of the female revealed she had been reported missing earlier in the day. Her mother was notified and she responded to pick up her daughter.

Warrant – Suspect Arrested June 19 at 11:00 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of W. Palm when she observed a subject that she knew had a warrant for his arrest. A computer check confirmed the warrant and the subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Vehicle Burglaries June 20 at 10:25 a.m., two vehicle burglaries were reported at a parking structure in the 100 block of W. Colorado. One of the vehicles was parked on the first level and the other was on the third level. Both vehicles had their windows shattered to gain entry and items were taken from inside. The investigations are continuing.

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested June 20 at 1:45 p.m., police received a call reporting a male adult that was kicking trash cans and being disruptive in the 600 block of S. Shamrock Avenue. Officers responded and located the male adult, who was displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers performed a drug evaluation on the subject and determined he was under the influence. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested June 20 at 10:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Maple regarding a female subject who was near a business in violation of a restraining order that she had been served. The female subject was located within 100 yards of the business and the protected person in violation of the court order. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Warrant – Suspect Arrested June 21 at 11:03 a.m., a suspicious subject was reported inside a business in the 200 block of S. Myrtle. The subject appeared to be casing the business. Officers arrived and located the subject. The investigation revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, taken into custody and was later picked up by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on the warrant.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision June 21 at 5:19 p.m., a vehicle struck a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk at Duarte and Mayflower and fled the scene. The vehicle was last seen traveling west on Duarte and is described as a small, dark grey, 4-door vehicle, being driven by a male driver. The pedestrian was not injured. The investigation is continuing.

Warrants – Suspect Arrested June 22 at 1:27 a.m., an officer was conducting a welfare check on a subject who was reported in the 300 block of W. Maple and appeared to be ill. During the contact, the officer determined that the subject was not ill, but she was found to have multiple warrants for her arrest. She was arrested for the warrants and taken into custody

Highlighted Activity for April 27-30, 2017


Hit & Run Traffic Collision April 27 at 9:51 a.m., officers responded to Magnolia and Evergreen on the report of a hit and run traffic collision. The suspect driver rear-ended a vehicle and fled the scene. Officers checked the area for the suspect vehicle and located it in the 400 block of Andre in the city of Duarte. The driver of the vehicle was also located and he had sustained injuries from the accident when his head hit the windshield. The windshield had cracked and lacerated his forehead. The vehicle was towed and the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver admitted to being involved in the collision.
Grand Theft Auto April 27 at 7:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Huntington regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim left his keys unattended on a table inside of a restaurant for approximately ten minutes. When he returned to the table, he realized his keys were gone. He went out to the parking lot and saw that his vehicle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered / Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested April 28 at 7:25 a.m., a suspicious person was reported at a business in the 2100 block of S. Myrtle. A female subject entered the location and was driving around inside the property. A worker thought the female was acting suspicious and phoned police to report the activity. Officers arrived and located the vehicle. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen and the female suspect was under the influence. She was arrested and the vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
Vandalism Incident April 28 at 8:39 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Sesmas regarding a vandalism incident. The victim reported that the windows on her vehicle had been shattered. A female adult in a dark colored SUV was seen driving up to the victim's vehicle. The female exited the SUV and proceeded to shatter multiple windows on the vehicle. She then got back into the SUV and left the area. The investigation is continuing. Grand Theft Auto Recovered April 28 at 6:10 p.m., an abandoned vehicle was reported in the 100 block of E. Cypress. The black Chevy Tahoe had been parked there for three days. The license plate number was checked and it returned to a vehicle reported stolen out of Pomona. Officers responded and recovered the vehicle.
Assault Report April 28 at 9:36 p.m., a nurse from a local hospital phoned police to report a subject in the ER that had been assaulted in Monrovia. Officers responded and spoke to the subject, who said he had been assaulted at a bar in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle. He said he had been drinking and playing pool. At approximately 8:00 p.m., he stepped out to the back alley to use the restroom when he was assaulted. He didn't know the suspects, but believes there were three of them. The victim had some facial wounds and some bruising to his upper torso area, where he was possibly hit or kicked. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested April 28 at 10:25 p.m., an officer was on patrol the area of Mountain and Royal Oaks when he saw a vehicle traveling on the opposite side of the road. He stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, who displayed symptoms of being intoxicated. After performing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DUI.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested April 28 at 10:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the report of a disturbing subject at Foothill and Magnolia. The subject was shining a flashlight at drivers. An officer responded and located the subject at Magnolia and Chestnut. The officer stopped to talk to him and a computer check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft From a Vehicle April 29 at 10:15 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 600 block of W. Foothill. The victim reported that they parked their vehicle on Highland the day before, and when they returned to the vehicle the next day, they saw items were missing. The vehicle had been left unlocked. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft April 29 at 12:45 p.m., a theft was reported at a business in the 400 block of W. Maple. A female adult walked into the business and took a cell phone and pair of shoes that belonged to a customer who was taking a class. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested April 29 at 10:19 p.m., an employee at a business in the 200 block of W. Huntington called police to report a disturbing female inside the location who was throwing items. They asked her to leave and she refused. Officers arrived and spoke to the subject. A computer check revealed an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Intoxicated in Public – Suspect Arrested April 29 at 11:05 p.m., officers responded to the report of a man down on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Montana. Officers arrived, made contact with the subject and determined he was intoxicated. The subject was unable to care for his own safety and was arrested for being drunk in public. He was held for a sobering period.
Intoxicated in Public – Suspect arrested April 30 at 1:28 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Colorado when he noticed a male subject walking on the sidewalk, having some difficulty. The officer made contact with the subject and realized he was intoxicated and unable to care for his own safety. The subject was arrested for being drunk in public and was held for sobering.
  Theft From a Vehicle April 30 at 11:41 a.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Orange called police to report a theft from his vehicle. The theft occurred sometime overnight and the suspect(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and stole a bag of tools. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle April 30 at 2:42 p.m., officers responded to the report of a theft from a vehicle in the 200 block of E. Cypress. The victim reported that sometime overnight, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for December 1-4, 2016


Petty Theft
December 1 at 10:00 a.m., a petty theft was reported at a business in the 600 block of S. Myrtle. A commercial grade push-cart was taken from the rear of the business. Surveillance footage shows the theft occurred on November 28, 2016. The male suspect was seen riding a bicycle while pushing the cart away from the business. The investigation is still continuing.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
December 1 at 4:55 p.m., an officer responded to the report of an assault in the area of Cherry and Primrose. The victims drove into the alley and one of them exited the vehicle. The victims were confronted by five male subjects, the subjects yelled "This is Monrovia" and threw two bricks towards the victims and their vehicle. The victims got back in the vehicle and reversed out of the alley in attempts to get away while the subjects continued running towards them. The incident is being investigated.
Vehicle Burglary / Grand Theft Auto Recovery
December 1 at 9:03 p.m., officers were dispatched on the report of a vehicle burglary in the 600 block of W. Foothill. The victim walked out of her office to the back parking lot and found a suspect inside her vehicle. The victim yelled at the suspect who fled on foot. When officers arrived they located a 1994 Toyota Prius with the engine running parked next to the victim’s vehicle. The investigation revealed the Toyota was a reported stolen vehicle from La Puente. The stolen vehicle was recovered and the investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
December 2 at 11:45 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1500 block of Encino. The victim’s catalytic converter was stolen from the victim’s vehicle the night before.
Grand Theft Auto
December 2 at 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Genoa on the report of a stolen vehicle. A package was taken from the front porch of the residence several days ago and a key to the stolen vehicle was inside the package. The victim
said he parked and secured his vehicle in front of the location the night before. The victim believes the subject(s) returned with the stolen key. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting
December 2 at 2:08 p.m., dispatch received a call from a business in the 700 block of E. Huntington Dr. regarding a theft that had just occurred. The subject was seen taking items without paying. The suspect was detained outside the business and held until officers arrived. The suspect was identified and cited.
Shoplifting
December 2 at 3:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington Dr. regarding a theft. A male subject left the store without paying for merchandise. The store employees called the police and provided a description of the
subject. The officers located a subject matching that description. The suspect was detained and cited.
Grand Theft
December 2 at 4:20 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of E. Lemon called police to report that her catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in front of her residence. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
December 2 at 11:49 a.m. an officer responded to a report of a residential burglary in the 1000 block of Orange. The victim left at 7:30 a.m. and upon her return, she found her home had been ransacked. The investigation revealed forced entry was made through a rear window where the suspect(s) stole jewelry and other miscellaneous property. Suspect(s) exited through the front door. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect arrested
December 2 at 7:24 p.m., dispatch received a call regarding the driver of a vehicle driving erratically in the 600 block of S. Myrtle. Officers located the vehicle and made a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The investigation revealed the driver was too intoxicated to drive a motor vehicle. The suspect was arrested.

December 3 at 9:50 a.m., an officer was dispatched on the report of a vandalism in the 400 block of S. Alta Vista Dr. The caller reported that the large front bay window to her residence had been shattered sometime during the night before. A piece of a brick was located on the porch below the shattered window.

December 3 at 10:51 a.m., a vandalism was reported in the 300 block of E. Olive. The victim parked her vehicle in front of her residence the evening before and upon her return she discovered the side window to her vehicle had been shattered. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

December 3 at 11:49 a.m., a caller reported a vandalism to her vehicle in the 400 block of Hurstview. The victim said she parked her vehicle in front of her residence the night before and when she returned she found a side window had been shattered. She found a brick wrapped in Christmas paper inside her vehicle. There were three additional bricks wrapped in Christmas paper laying on the ground outside her vehicle.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 3 at 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person inside the bank in the 100 block of W. Foothill. Officers contacted the person in question and the subject explained he had a check and the bank would not honor it. The check appeared fraudulent and the officers told the subject he might be the victim of fraud. The subject was upset that the bank would not cash the check but agreed to leave and look into the possibility that the check might be a fraud. A few minutes after all parties left, the bank called the police to report the subject was back and yelling at employees. Officers returned to the location and arrested the subject on two small warrants.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision
December 4 at 7:23 p.m., dispatch received a call regarding a hit & run traffic collision in the area of California and Colorado. The suspect’s vehicle rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign and fled the scene. The occupants in the vehicle that was rear-ended were not injured. An extensive search was conducted for the suspect vehicle with negative results. The investigation is continuing.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision
December 4 at 10:31 p.m., a caller reported a hit & run traffic collision in the 100 block of S. Fifth. The caller stated he was driving north on Fifth approaching the intersection of Foothill. The suspect’s vehicle was traveling behind him and suddenly passed him on the left. When the suspect vehicle was passing the victim's vehicle, he clipped the driver's side rear fender. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The victim was not injured. An extensive search was conducted for the suspect vehicle with negative results. The investigation is continuing.

Attempt Grand Theft
September 19 at 6:48 a.m., residents at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Royal Oaks reported that someone attempted to remove and take copper piping from the complex, which caused flooding. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
September 19 at 7:18 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported at the school district office in the 300 block of E. Huntington. It was reported that someone threw a baseball bat through an office window sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
September 19 at 8:14 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of E. Lemon. The victim called to report that someone entered her unlocked vehicle sometime during the night. The vehicle was ransacked and it was unknown if anything was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Strong-arm Robbery – Suspect Arrested
September 19 at 2:47 p.m., officers responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery in the area of Magnolia and the railroad tracks. The victim stated that he had just been assaulted and the suspect took his bicycle. Officers detained the suspect in the 1800 block of S. Mayflower and the bike was recovered. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft of Vehicle Registration Tabs
September 19 at 9:24 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 700 block of E. Huntington when he saw a male subject crouched down behind a parked vehicle and there was a female subject with him. As the officer approached, the male subject ran. The officer requested assistance and he followed the suspect in his police unit. The suspect tripped in the area of Huntington and Mountain and was detained by officers. Further investigation revealed the suspect is a gang member and was crouching down removing the registration tabs from a vehicle when the officer saw him and attempted to detain him. The female suspect left the area and was not identified.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery
September 19 at 9:57 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of W. Huntington when he saw a parked vehicle that looked abandoned. A computer check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was reported stolen on August 26. The vehicle did not appear damaged and the owner was notified.
Vehicle Burglary
September 20 at 12:49 p.m., the owner of the business in the 800 block of Royal Oaks reported that one of his vehicles had been broken into over the weekend. It was unknown if anything was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
September 21 at 8:07 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 800 block of E. Foothill. The victim reported that her silver, two-door, 2000 Honda Civic had been stolen sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
September 21 at 9:09 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Primrose called police to report his garage had been burglarized. Several items were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
September 21 at 10:03 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Parkrose. The victim reported that items were taken out of his unlocked vehicle sometime during the night.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
September 21 at 11:01 a.m., an officer on patrol located a stolen vehicle parked in the 200 block of Montana with two occupants inside. The officer requested assistance and the occupants were detained. The male driver had two no-bail warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for the outstanding warrants and grand theft auto. The female passenger was eventually released.
Hit and Run Investigation / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
September 21 at 4:02 p.m., while investigating a hit and run traffic collision, officers discovered the suspect in the case had a warrant for his arrest. They called the suspect and asked him to come to the station, which he did. He was then arrested for the outstanding warrant. The hit and run investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for September 8-11, 2016


Vehicle Burglary
September 8 at 8:27 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Briarcliff. The victim reported that two of his vehicles had the windows smashed and miscellaneous items were stolen. Two male suspects were seen removing items from the vehicles and fleeing the location in a black Jeep Wrangler. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 8 at 4:11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Huntington Drive regarding a subject drinking alcohol and lying on the sidewalk. Officers contacted the subject and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and held for detoxification.
Vehicle Burglary
September 9 at 7:14 a.m., a resident in the 600 block of E. Walnut reported a vehicle burglary. The resident parked and locked his vehicle in front of his home in the evening and went in for the night. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning, he found the door lock had been tampered with and the third row seats had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
September 9 at 7:55 a.m., a burglary was reported at a business in the 800 block of W. Foothill. The victim arrived at his business in the morning to find the rear window had been forced open and items were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 9 at 4:39 p.m., a male and female subject entered a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain, selected merchandise and put it in a cart. The female subject left the store and the male subject completed a return of the items with receipts the two had brought into the store. Loss prevention personnel detained the male suspect. An officer responded to the location and the male suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Criminal Threats / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 9 at 5:37 p.m., a disturbance was reported at a residence in the 500 block of
E. Lemon. The investigation revealed two brothers were involved in an argument and
one made criminal threats against the other. One of the subjects was taken into custody
for criminal threats and was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He
was held pending his court appearance.
Felony Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision
September 9 at 9:06 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at Mountain and Evergreen. A
vehicle had exited the freeway and collided with two other vehicles. The driver
attempted to flee, but was detained by citizens. Through investigation, the driver was
determined to be driving under the influence. He was taken to a hospital to be treated
for his injuries. The other drivers complained of pain only. The case will be reviewed by
the District Attorney’s office for filing consideration.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
September 9 at 11:39 p.m., officers responded to Huntington and Magnolia regarding a
possible drunk driver in the area. The vehicle was located and stopped on Huntington
for vehicle code violations. The driver was found to be driving under the influence and
was arrested for DUI.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
September 10 at 1:03 a.m., officers responded to Myrtle and Palm regarding a traffic
collision. They arrived and found a vehicle on the sidewalk, which had crashed into a
light pole and a building. The driver fled the scene of the accident.
Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. A
white vehicle was located by officers, but the two occupants stated they were not
involved in a collision and the vehicle had no damage. Through investigation, the
officers eventually determined that the passenger in the white vehicle was, in fact, the
driver of the vehicle involved in the traffic collision. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft from a Vehicle
September 10 at 6:56 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 Block of E.
Fig. The victim parked his vehicle in his driveway in the evening and left it unlocked.
When he returned in the morning, he found someone had stolen his stereo from the
dashboard. The investigation is continuing.
Burglary
September 10 at 11:05 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of S. Myrtle
regarding a burglary report. The victim arrived at his storage unit and discovered
someone had drilled a large hole from the adjoining unit to gain entry into his unit.
Several items were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
September 10 at 1:25 p.m., a burglary was reported in the 200 block of Norumbega
Drive. The victim was away on vacation and returned to find his home had been broken
into and ransacked. The suspect forced entry through a rear bedroom window and
several items were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
September 10 at 2:59 a.m., loss prevention from a business in the 500 block of
Huntington called police to report a shoplifter. The suspect was observed selecting
merchandise and hiding it on his person. He then left the store without paying for the
merchandise. The suspect was detained by officers in an adjoining business and
arrested. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was held
pending his court appearance.
Residential Burglary
September 10 at 4:24 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of
Highland Avenue. The victim was away from the residence for approximately 24 hours
and returned to find the home had been burglarized. The suspect gained entry by
breaking the glass out of a rear door. The home was ransacked and jewelry was taken.

Commercial Burglary
July 7 at 8:22 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of W. Foothill regarding the activation of a commercial burglary alarm. When the officers arrived, they found the glass door to the business had been smashed and the cash register had been stolen. No suspects were located inside the property. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
July 7 at 9:00 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of N. Myrtle called police to report a theft. The resident had just returned from vacation and she noticed a package that had been delivered was missing. The empty box was found around the corner from the victim’s residence. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 7 at 4:00 p.m., a suspicious person was reported in the 500 block of E. Cypress. When officers arrived at the location, they located a person who matched the description of the suspicious person. While talking to the subject, she admitted to being on probation. A search of the subject revealed she was in possession of narcotics. She was arrested and taken into custody. The subject was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Domestic Violence
July 8 at 12:02 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of E. Colorado regarding a domestic violence incident. A couple was involved in an argument, and the male subject pushed the female subject down a small flight of stairs and into bushes. The female subject sustained abrasions to her back and scratches on her arms. The male suspect left the location prior to police arrival. A wanted person entry was made into the law enforcement computer database for the suspect and the investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery / Warrant – Suspects Arrested
July 8 at 2:36 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 900 block of W. Colorado located a stolen vehicle that was occupied by three individuals. The officer followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Baldwin and Foothill. The three suspects were detained and
taken into custody. The driver admitted to borrowing the vehicle from her friend and failing to return the car, as agreed. She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested for grand theft auto and the warrant. The other two occupants were released from custody, as they were determined not to be involved in the theft.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
July 9 at 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a shoplifter in custody. The female suspect entered the store, selected merchandise and fled without paying. The suspect was detained outside the store by loss prevention agents and police were called. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. She was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Injury Traffic Collision
July 9 at 3:06 p.m., officers responded to the report of an injury traffic collision in the 200 block of E. Foothill. A vehicle was stopped on Foothill at May, waiting to make a left turn onto May Avenue. Two vehicles came to a stop behind the first vehicle, and a fourth vehicle failed to stop, causing a chain reaction traffic collision. Two occupants complained of pain, but did not wish to be taken to the hospital.
Possession of Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
July 9 at 8:51 p.m., an officer stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation in the 500 block of E. Olive. The driver consented to a vehicle search, and stolen property and ammunition was found in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for possession of the stolen property.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
July 9 at 9:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to an alley in the 200 block of W. Huntington regarding a person that had been assaulted and was bleeding. Officers located the victim, who had been beaten and had sustained numerous injuries and cuts to his body and head. The victim was intoxicated and was unable to give information regarding the suspects, but it appears one or more suspects used a hard object to strike the victim. It appears the assault may not have occurred at the location and it is unclear how the victim got to the location where he was found. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 12:43 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of E. Huntington when he observed a driver commit a vehicle code violation. The officer stopped the driver and through investigation, determined he was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken into custody. The passenger in the vehicle was also extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
July 10 at 2:00 p.m., an officer responded to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in the 600 block of S. Ivy. The victim parked her vehicle across from her home. When she returned to her vehicle a short time later, she found damage on the passenger side. It appears a truck or some type of SUV sideswiped the parked vehicle and fled without leaving any information. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 2:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of W. Foothill. The caller reported a female suspect had stolen merchandise from the store. Officers arrived and located the female hiding in some bushes adjacent to the business. Further investigation revealed the female was under the influence of a controlled substance and unable to care for herself. The caller did not want to press charges for the theft. The female was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and held for a sobering period. She was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 11:39 p.m., officers responded to the area of Fifth and Huntington regarding an alarm activation at a construction site. The officers arrived and located a person sleeping on the property, who was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication / Violation of Gang Injunction – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 11:09 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of S. Myrtle regarding a suspicious subject approaching people and demanding money. As officers arrived, the suspect observed them and ran. He was caught after a short foot chase. The suspect, a known gang member, was found to be intoxicated and in violation of the gang injunction. He was arrested and taken into custody for the charges.

Highlighted Activity for June 27 - July 3, 2016

Violation of Court Order / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
June 27 at 1:12 p.m., an officer stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation in the area of Grand and Foothill. The officer recognized the male and female subject in the vehicle from prior contacts and knew the female had a restraining order against the male. The male subject was arrested for violation of the court order. An inventory search of his property revealed drug paraphernalia, which was added to his charges.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 27 at 4:06 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Chestnut and Magnolia ran a computer check on a vehicle, which revealed a warrant for the registered owner, a male adult. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for the warrant.
Vehicle Burglary
June 27 at 5:15 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of Alta Street. The victim locked his vehicle, and sometime during the early morning hours, someone broke into his vehicle by unknown means and stole several small items. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 27 at 6:42 p.m., officers responded to the area of Mayflower and Huntington regarding a male and female having a dispute in a vehicle. The caller was following the vehicle and reported that the female attempted to jump out of the vehicle, but the male pulled her back inside. Officers arrived and stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of E. Lime. The female claimed they were having a verbal dispute. A search of the vehicle revealed controlled substances. The male driver was taken into custody for drug possession.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 28 at 1:46 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The female driver did not have any means of identification, and both driver and passenger denied ownership of a backpack that was between the passenger's feet. Further investigation revealed methamphetamine in the backpack. The female driver was taken into custody for no means of identification and the passenger was arrested for possession of the methamphetamine.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 28 at 6:00 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Norumbega regarding the report of a suspicious male adult loitering near a property. Officers responded and contacted the male suspect, who was found to have a no-bail, parole warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested for the warrant.
Vehicle Vandalisms
June 28 at 7:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to the report of two separate vehicle vandalism incidents. One incident occurred in the 400 block of N. Encinitas and the other in the 1600 block of Venice. Unknown suspect(s) punched holes in the tires of the two vehicles sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 28 at 10:15 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of S. Shamrock on the report of a subject crawling on the ground acting bizarre. Officers contacted the male adult and determined he was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
June 28 at 3:37 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of N. Grand. The victim stated he parked and locked his work van across the street from his house. In the morning the victim discovered tools missing out of the back of the van. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
June 29 at 4:08 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Duarte when they saw a male subject jump off his bicycle and run into a fast food restaurant, where he attempted to hide a methamphetamine pipe. The suspect was arrested for possession of the pipe and released on a citation to appear in court.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington regarding a suspicious person inside the store who employees believed was attempting to shoplift merchandise. Officers located the suspect and a computer check revealed an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested for the warrant and held pending her court appearance. The shoplifting incident could not be substantiated.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 10:52 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 600 block of S. Shamrock when he noticed a group of male adults in a park who appeared nervous and suspicious. He contacted the subjects and a computer check of one of the males revealed he had a warrant for his arrest. During a search of his bags, a methamphetamine pipe was discovered. The male was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
July 1 at 2:42 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Pomona when he saw an adult male and female standing in the middle of the street in traffic, arguing with each other. The female was upset because her boyfriend was too intoxicated to care for himself. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and arrested the male for being drunk in public.
Vehicle Burglary
July 1 at 7:40 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of W. Colorado. The victim parked and locked his work truck in front of his home and went in for the evening. When the victim returned to his vehicle in the morning, he found his door lock punched and tools stolen from his truck. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
July 1 at 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of S. Mayflower. A resident called to report his son and the son's girlfriend were smoking drugs in the bathroom of his home. Officers arrived and contacted the male and female. The investigation revealed the female had drug paraphernalia in her possession. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence / Non-Injury Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
July 2 at 3:12 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 800 block of W. Duarte when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed with no headlights passed him. The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle to stop it, however, he saw the vehicle crash into a light pole at Duarte Road and First Avenue in Arcadia. The male driver and female passenger were not injured. Arcadia police officers responded to investigate the collision, while Monrovia police officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver. It was determined that the driver was too intoxicated to operate a motor vehicle safely and he was arrested for DUI.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
July 2 at 8:44 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Venice regarding a vandalism incident. The victim called to report their tires had been slashed. Further investigation revealed additional victims and one suspect was identified. The suspect was later arrested for the vandalism. He admitted to committing additional vandalisms in the area. The investigation is continuing.
Welfare Check
July 2 at 10:49 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Orange regarding a welfare check. The caller had not heard from his 80-year-old brother in a week. When officers arrived at the location, they were able to see a male subject on the floor inside the house. Officers forced entry into the residence and discovered the victim was alive, but disoriented. It appeared the victim had suffered a medical emergency and had been down on the floor for several days. The subject was taken to a hospital for treatment.

July 2 at 1:32 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of California and Lime regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The driver struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene. The area was checked, but the suspect was not located. The investigation is continuing.

July 2 at 5:20 p.m., an officer responded to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in the 500 block of W. Huntington. The driver of the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle in a shopping center parking lot and fled the scene. The investigation is continuing.

July 2 at 9:14 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Huntington and Magnolia when he observed a female subject walk across the street against a red light. The subject was detained and determined to be under the influence of narcotics. While the officer was talking with the female, she dropped a methamphetamine pipe on the ground. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Vehicle Burglary
June 23 at 6:29 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of W. Hillcrest. The victim parked and locked his truck in front of his home in the evening. When he returned to the vehicle in the morning, he found someone had broken into the vehicle. The driver's door lock was punched and his tools had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collision
June 23 at 12:53 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Myrtle and Huntington. A large dump truck was following too close and collided into a passenger vehicle. The dump truck driver was driving without the appropriate license certification and was issued a citation. The driver of the second vehicle complained of neck and back pain, but refused medical treatment.
Traffic Collision
June 23 at 1:33 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 500 block of E. Foothill. Two vehicles were involved in the collision. One of the drivers fell asleep at the wheel and collided into the other vehicle, which was making a parking maneuver.
Bear Incident
June 23 at 2:00 p.m., a bear was sighted in the 400 block of N. Canyon. The resident called to report a bear in his front yard that was aggressive. The resident came in contact with the animal as he exited his home. The resident reported that the bear was agitated. It growled at the resident, but then left the area back into the foothills. The Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified.
Indecent Exposure
June 23 at 7:16 p.m., two adult females were walking east on Hillcrest, approaching Heather Heights, when they walked by a grey pickup truck that was parked with the passenger window open. Both females looked inside the truck and saw a white, adult male, mid to late 20s, sitting in the driver's seat, exposing himself. They attempted to get a photograph of him with their phone, but he quickly drove away, heading south on Heather Heights. However, since Heather Heights is a dead-end street, he was required to drive by them again as he drove back onto Hillcrest. The male driver looked at the females, waved at them, then drove away out of sight. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
June 23 at 10:05 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 700 block of E. Foothill. The residents had left the home locked and secured to go out to dinner at 6:30 p.m. When they returned at 10:05 p.m., they discovered their house had been burglarized. The suspects broke into the home through a bathroom window. The suspects ransacked the entire house, then fled prior to the family returning. It is unknown what exactly was taken. The victims will conduct an inventory of their personal possessions. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
June 23 at 11:53 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 400 block of Wildrose. The resident left her house to go out with friends. At 11:00 p.m., she returned home and discovered the house had been ransacked. There was no one inside the home. The backdoor was open and she realized she had left it unlocked. The loss is unknown and the investigation in ongoing.
Petty Theft
June 24 at 6:50 a.m., a resident in the 1200 block of S. Mayflower Avenue called police to report a theft. The resident parked his vehicle in his detached garage in the evening and left both the garage and his vehicle unlocked. He returned to his vehicle in the morning and found his briefcase had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 24 at 10:36 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of Norumbega reported a suspicious person in the area. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was determined to be under the influence of narcotics. The subject was arrested, taken into custody and held for a sobering period.
Counterfeit Currency
June 24 at 6:43 p.m., a male adult suspect entered a business in the 400 block of W. Foothill and attempted to purchase merchandise with a fraudulent $50.00 bill. The employee checked the authenticity of the bill and determined it was fraudulent. The employee called police, but the suspect left the business prior to police arrival and was not located. The investigation is continuing.
Bear Sighting
June 24 at 8:06 p.m., the homeowners of a house in the 300 block of N. Encinitas called police to report a bear in their backyard. Officers arrived and flushed the bear off the property and back into the foothills.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
June 25 at 11:03 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in the 200 block of E. Colorado. The victim parked her vehicle in front of her home and went inside for the night. She went out to her vehicle in the morning and found the front of her vehicle had been damaged. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
June 25 at 11:58 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of E. Cherry Avenue. The residents were leaving for the weekend. They locked the front door, but left a bedroom window open. The caretaker later arrived to check on the home and found the front door ajar and a bedroom ransacked. The loss could not be determined until the owners can take inventory. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
June 25 at 3:33 p.m., an officer responded to the report of an injury traffic collision in the 200 block of E. Foothill. A vehicle traveling on Foothill slowed to make a left turn and was rear ended by a second vehicle. Three passengers complained of pain and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Domestic Violence
June 26 at 1:25 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a hospital, where a female adult had checked herself in for injuries she had just sustained at her house. She told the officer that she was home with her child when the father of the child arrived to visit. They began to argue, and the male suspect hit the female victim in the head with his fist, causing a visible injury. The suspect then left the house. A want for domestic violence was issued for the suspect.
Domestic Violence
June 26 at 6:45 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance at a location in the 1800 block of S. Peck. Officers arrived and separated a male and female who have been in a relationship for over 10 years. The female sustained a visible injury to the top of her head during the altercation. The male was arrested for domestic violence.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision
June 2 at 12:32 p.m., an officer responded to Fifth and Huntington regarding a hit and run traffic collision. A witness reported that an 18 wheeler truck turned the corner too sharp and knocked the signal down on the northwest corner, causing the traffic lights to malfunction. The truck did not stop for the collision. While the officer was investigating, the truck driver returned to the scene. The driver claimed he wanted to get something to eat before returning. The driver was issued a citation.
Fugitive Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 2 at 2:10 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Myrtle and Cherry when he saw a subject that he knew was wanted. The suspect had a federal fugitive warrant for his arrest. The suspect was in a vehicle with two other occupants. The officer confirmed there was a full extradition weapons warrant for the suspect’s arrest. He contacted the occupants in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested on the warrant and a female occupant in the vehicle was arrested for identity theft.
Embezzlement – Suspect Arrested
June 2 at 2:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding an employee being detained for embezzlement. The detained employee was a head cashier. The employee was processing fictitious customer return receipts and keeping the return money. The employee was arrested for embezzlement and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
June 3 at 12:16 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Peck Road and Live Oak. When the officer contacted the driver, he noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Through investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released on a citation to appear in court.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
June 3 at 8:50 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a theft. The suspect shoplifted from the store and fled the area. After investigating the
crime, officers checked the area and located the suspect. He admitted to the theft. Over $500 in stolen property was recovered and the suspect was arrested.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
June 4 at 1:00 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 500 block of W. Huntington when he observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, traveling west in the eastbound lanes. He stopped the vehicle, and the investigation resulted in the driver's arrest for driving under the influence. The driver stated he had been drinking at home and had taken prescription medication. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released on a citation to appear in court.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
June 4 at 6:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to California and Walnut regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The suspect vehicle was traveling south on California and struck a parked vehicle and a tree. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. Officers located the suspect vehicle and interviewed the driver. The driver admitted to fleeing the scene. The case will be submitted to the District Attorney's office for filing consideration.
Fraud / Identity Theft – Suspects Arrested
June 4 at 8:54 p.m., staff from a hotel in the 1100 block of E. Huntington called police to report a subject that rented a room using a stolen credit card. The officers contacted the two occupants of the room and gained consent to search the room. The officers found stolen mail, stolen checks, and equipment used to alter and make access cards. The two suspects were arrested for mulitple charges of fraud and identity theft.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 12:48 a.m., officers responded to the police department lobby regarding a battery that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a dating relationship with the known suspect. The two had been involved in an argument and the suspect grabbed the victim by the arms and pulled her hair. Officers contacted the suspect at his residence and arrested him for domestic violence.
Grand Theft Auto – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 8:42 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen in the 100 block of East Cherry. The victim resides in the same house as the suspect. The suspect took the vehicle without permission sometime during the night. The victim has never allowed the suspect to use his vehicle and he desired prosecution. Officers searched the area and found the suspect walking a block away. The vehicle was also located several blocks away parked on the street. The suspect denied having possession of the vehicle, but witnesses stated she gave them a ride that night in the stolen vehicle. The suspect was arrested for grand theft auto.
Vehicle Burglary
June 5 at 7:30 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of S. Magnolia Avenue. Several items were stolen from inside the victim’s locked vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry, but a metal rod was located near the vehicle that could have been used to wedge the door open to gain access. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for May 26-29, 2016


Felony Hit and Run Traffic Collision
May 26 at 6:11 p.m., officers responded to the report of a hit and run traffic collision in the 1300 block of S. Magnolia Avenue. The victim’s vehicle was rear-ended by the suspect’s vehicle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed. The suspect then drove off and fled the scene. The victim saw the vehicle and suspect from his rearview mirror and said he could identify the suspect if seen again. He also gave a description of the vehicle. The victim complained of pain and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Several hours later, as the victim was returning home from the hospital, he saw the suspect vehicle. He called police and provided the license plate number. A computer check was run on the license plate to find the registered owner’s address. The vehicle was located at the registered owner’s residence and was stored for investigation. The registered owner was not located. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
May 26 at 9:26 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of E. Fig Avenue. Three to four male suspects were seen running from the residence. At least one was carrying property. The suspects got into a white, Hyundai sedan and fled the location. A side window was smashed to gain entry and the home was ransacked. A safe containing money and jewelry was taken, along with the video surveillance equipment. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
May 27 at 9:52 a.m., a grand theft incident that occurred in the 400 block of Genoa was reported to police. The victim parked her vehicle on the street in front of her residence in the evening. When she returned to her vehicle the next morning, she discovered someone had stolen the catalytic converter off her vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 28 at 1:19 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Live Oak and Longden. During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver
had been drinking and was driving under the influence. After investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence and held for a sobering period.
Residential Burglary
May 28 at 7:22 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 800 block of S. Canyon Boulevard. The father of the victim went to his daughter's apartment to check on it because she is out of town. When he arrived, he saw a back window had been shattered and the residence was ransacked. Jewelry was taken from the home. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
May 28 at 8:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic collision with possible injuries in the area of California and Los Angeles. During the investigation, it was determined that one of the drivers involved was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and held for a sobering period.
Domestic Violence – Suspects Arrested
May 29 at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Grand Avenue on the report of two subjects fighting. They arrived and found a male and female with injuries. Both subjects admitted they had been in a fight. The subjects were found to be boyfriend and girlfriend; both were arrested for domestic violence.

Highlighted Activity for April 11-17, 2016


Grand Theft
April 11 at 8:56 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Canyon called to report a theft from his vehicle. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence the night before, and when he returned to the vehicle the next morning, he found the tailgate was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision / Vandalism / Assault with a Deadly Weapon
April 11 at 10:22 a.m., officers responded to the area of California and Duarte regarding a traffic collision that had just occurred. Party one/victim wanted to exchange her information with party two/suspect, but he refused. The victim began to video the suspect and his vehicle with her phone. The suspect then took the victim’s phone from her and threw it on the ground. The suspect then got into his vehicle and tried to drive away. The victim and her passenger proceeded to stand in front of the suspect’s vehicle demanding him to stop and get out of the vehicle. The suspect moved forward and struck one of the females, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground. She did not sustain any visible injuries. The suspect then left the area before officers arrived. A vehicle description and a thorough search of the area was conducted, but did not locate the suspect or his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
On April 12 at 10:22 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the above traffic collision. A traffic stop was made and an interview was conducted. The suspect admitted to his involvement in the hit and run traffic collision. The vehicle was impounded and the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office.
Injury Traffic Collision
April 11 at 1:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Magnolia and Maple regarding a traffic collision. Party one was headed south on Magnolia and crossed over into oncoming traffic to go around a vehicle in front of her. She then struck a vehicle headed north on Magnolia. Party one was taken to a hospital for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 11 at 10:21 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Orange called police to report hearing her back sliding glass door shattering while she was inside her home alone. She had barricaded herself in her bathroom and called 911. An officer arrived, cleared the residence and found evidence of an attempted burglary. It appears the suspects fled after the alarm system on the home was activated. The investigation is continuing.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 11 at 11:37 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of E. Foothill called police to report noise on the first floor of her home. She was inside her bedroom and was awakened by her son banging on her door. The son heard noise on the first floor and the power to the home suddenly went out. The investigation revealed the suspects cut the electrical power to the residence by turning off the main circuit breaker on the side of the home. The suspects removed a window screen and pried open a rear window to gain access to the residence. It appears the suspects were scared away, as nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
April 12 at 2:18 a.m., dispatch received an alarm activation on a business in the 300 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived and found the front door had been pried open and the suspects had entered the location. Officers cleared the location and no suspects were found. The owner had just arrived and determined nothing had been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 12 at 8:15 p.m., officers went to the residence of a wanted suspect to locate and arrest him. For several days, officers were called to locations on the report of a male suspect seen inside women's bathrooms. His presence inside the women's restrooms and acts he had committed in the restrooms constituted a crime. Officers completed a thorough investigation, which led to the positive identification of the suspect. The suspect is known to the police department from prior contact. A computer check also revealed the suspect had several outstanding bench warrants for his arrest. Officers went to the suspect’s residence, located the suspect, and placed him under arrest. During a search of the suspect, drug paraphernalia was located in his possession. The suspect was booked and housed on the warrants and the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office.
Suspicious Circumstances / Burglary – Three Suspects Arrested
April 13 at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of suspicious suspects in the area of Lemon and Sombrero. The suspects appeared to be stealing items from a porch. The suspects were witnessed picking up items on the street near the intersection of Lemon and Sombrero and fleeing in a dark truck. Officers located the vehicle heading east on Royal Oaks, where they conducted a traffic stop in the City of Duarte. Three suspects were detained. They were found to be in possession of large amounts of cash. The investigation revealed a cash register, cash and store receipts belonging to businesses in the City of Duarte, which were determined to have been burglarized during the evening hours. Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies arrived, took over the investigation, and took custody of the suspects.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 3:35 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a bicyclist in the 100 block of E. El Norte for a vehicle code violation. The suspect was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Warrants / Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 6:43 a.m., a resident called from the 1000 block of Royal Oaks to report their 41-year-old son was causing a disturbance. Officers arrived and detained the subject. A computer check revealed he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest and was wanted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for violating his county jail work release. He was arrested for the warrants, and during a search incident to arrest, officers found him to be in possession of methamphetamine and a syringe. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
April 14 at 10:52 p.m., officers responded to an audible alarm at a residence in the 300 block of Bradoaks. When they arrived, they located a shattered rear glass door. The residence was cleared and a person responsible for the residence was located. The home had been ransacked and several items were missing. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
April 15 at 2:39 a.m., a victim called to report his vehicle was stolen in the 200 block of W. Maple. The victim parked his vehicle in the alley behind his business and left the car keys on the hood of the vehicle. He returned approximately two hours later and the vehicle was gone. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Methamphetamine / Driving on a Suspended License / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
April 15 at 4:29 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of California and Duarte. The vehicle was stopped for the violation. The driver was found to be driving on a suspended license and had warrants for his arrest. During a search of the driver, he was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested for the above listed charges.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 15 at 5:42 p.m., dispatch received several calls reporting that a vehicle collided into a parked vehicle in the 100 block of E. Colorado and drove away. Additional calls were received as the driver hit other vehicles. The suspect vehicle was located and a thorough investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver for driving under the influence. There were three vehicles located that were hit by the DUI driver and two victims were taken to the hospital due to injuries.
Outside Assist / Newport Beach Police Department – Suspects Arrested
April 15, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Newport Beach Police Department responded to a residence in the 1800 block of S. Mayflower to conduct an investigation. When they arrived, they saw the suspect exit a stolen vehicle. They watched the
location, informed the Monrovia Police Department about the circumstances and asked if Monrovia could conduct a traffic stop if the suspect left the location. At 8:30 p.m., Newport Beach police officers detained the suspect outside the location. They later booked three suspects at the Monrovia Police Department facility.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 16 at 12:07 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Shamrock and Huntington for a vehicle code violation and discovered the driver had been drinking. After investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested, taken into custody and held for sobering.
Commercial Burglary
April 16 at 9:26 a.m., a business owner in the 2600 block of S. Peck called police regarding a burglary. The suspects jumped a rear fence and broke a large window on a rear door to enter the business. A laptop, television, power drill and miscellaneous garden tools were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Incident – Vehicle vs. Bicycle
April 16 at 12:01 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a traffic incident. A bicyclist was heading eastbound on the north sidewalk of Huntington. The bicyclist veered onto the street because of pedestrians on the sidewalk and got his wheel stuck in a groove, causing him to fall into the lane of traffic. He was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound at approximately 20 mile per hour. The bicyclist refused medical treatment and left the scene on his bike.
Hot Prowl Residential Burglary
April 16 at 12:18 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of E. Cherry called police to report a burglary. The resident arrived home at approximately 1:00 p.m. He was sitting in a chair dosing off while watching television in his living room when he heard noise from a back bedroom. He thought it was his child and was not concerned. When he awoke in the morning, he remembered that his child had slept at a friend’s house. He went to check the back bedroom and found the window screen off and the window open. The resident said nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Critical Missing Adult Located
April 16 at 6:25 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Montana regarding a critical missing adult. The 80-year-old male was last seen at the location at 2:00 p.m. He has memory loss, vertigo and dementia. Available units began an area search. A blood hound was utilized and tracked the subject’s scent to the Metro Station near the platform. The Rail Operation Center was contacted and notified. A missing bulletin was forwarded and disseminated to their personnel. The Foothill Air Support Team helicopter conducted an area search on several areas requested, and local hospitals and businesses were contacted. At 1:30 a.m., the subject was located by City of Industry deputies. Monrovia officers responded to his residence after he arrived home to speak with him.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
April 16 at 9:59 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report three suspects concealing merchandise inside the store. When the officers arrived, they located one suspect outside and he was detained. Two additional suspects were detained when they exited the store a short time later. During the incident, the first suspect walked up to a vehicle prior to being detained. Police could see inside the vehicle and observed a credit card embossing machine, large amounts of mail, tax information, and other suspicious items. The vehicle belonged to one of the suspects and was eventually searched and stored. All three suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Vandalism
April 17 at 11:03 p.m., a resident called police from the 100 block of Maple reporting three to five subjects on the roof of a business. Officers responded and found fresh graffiti on the roof. No suspects were detained. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Injury Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 3:10 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Diamond regarding a traffic collision. The vehicle was driving west on Diamond and collided with two parked vehicles, causing the vehicle to roll over on its side. The driver was taken to a hospital with complaint of pain. The driver appeared to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision. The driver admitted to being intoxicated and a verified complaint request will be submitted to the District Attorney's Office.

Highlighted Activity for March 21-23, 2016


Critical Missing Returned
March 21 at 6:31 p.m., detectives were contacted by the grandmother of a critical missing female juvenile. The granddaughter had taken her vehicle without permission. The grandmother reported that the missing juvenile had returned home. She was instructed to come into the station and contact an officer. Both subjects came into the police station as requested. The juvenile was counseled and taken out of the missing persons system.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
March 21 at 11:56 p.m., an officer witnessed a driver rearend a subject riding a bicycle with a utility trailer attached to the back of his bike. The rider was thrown to the pavement. The driver drove about 100 yards and stopped. When the officer pulled up to the scene, the driver fled. Monrovia Fire Department responded immediately, along with additional officers to assist the injured bicyclist. The officer was able to catch up to and stop the suspect driver at Duarte and Magnolia. The driver was arrested for felony hit and run. The bike rider was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Robbery – Suspect Arrested
March 22 at 1:01 p.m., a male adult suspect entered a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain and concealed merchandise on his person. Loss prevention personnel detained the suspect and asked him to return the merchandise. The suspect agreed to return the merchandise if loss prevention would let him leave. Loss prevention told the suspect that would not happen and the suspect tried to flee with the merchandise. The store employee and the suspect struggled in front of the store on the ground until officers arrived. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Burglary
March 23 at 1:26 a.m., officers responded to a burglary alarm at a school in the 900 block of E. Lemon. Upon checking the campus, officers discovered someone had
broken into a school room. A rock had been thrown through a classroom window and an iPad was stolen, along with other miscellaneous items. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting/Providing False Information – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 9:31 a.m., a male adult suspect attempted to steal two flashlights from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. He was detained by store loss prevention personnel. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, as he had no identification. His prints returned later under a different name than he provided to officers. The crime of providing false information to an officer was added to his charges.
Shoplifting/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 2:12 p.m., a male adult suspect walked into a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain with the intent of stealing two hammers so he could sell them. He walked out of the store and was followed by loss prevention. The suspect was detained by officers at Mountain and the 210 Freeway. He was also found to have an outstanding felony burglary warrant. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary
March 23 at 5:23 p.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 500 block of E. Lime. One of the offices in the building was left unlocked overnight. An unknown suspect entered the business and removed a laptop computer from an office area. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 7:21 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Chestnut and Ivy when he heard a subject yelling at people in the area. He contacted the subject, who had been drinking. The subject was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested for public intoxication. He was held for a sobering period.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 7:29 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of E. Olive for a vehicle code violation. A computer check of the driver revealed he had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested for the warrant and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
March 23 at 8:35 p.m., staff at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a theft of electronics that had just occurred. The suspect exited the store with the stolen merchandise and went into another business. Officers arrived, waited for the suspect to exit the store and detained him. The stolen property was recovered and the suspect was arrested.
Battery – Suspect Arrested
March 24 at 2:18 a.m., officers responded to the report of disturbing subjects at a parking lot in the 400 block of W. Maple. Officers located two brothers that had been drinking and were fighting. One of the brothers was arrested for battery and taken into custody.
