Highlighted Activity for August 21-23, 2017

Stolen Vehicle Recovered
August 21 at 4:04 p.m., officers responded to the report of a located stolen vehicle parked on the street in the 100 Block of El Nido. The vehicle was located by a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department airship through LoJack. Monrovia officers arrived and recovered the unoccupied stolen vehicle.
Theft From a Vehicle
August 22 at 2:50 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported at a business parking lot in the 900 block of W. Foothill. The victim parked her vehicle in the lot and went into the business. When she returned to her vehicle, she found someone had entered the vehicle and items were missing. She reported that she had left a window partially down. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
August 22 at 3:45 p.m., a possible drunk driver was reported to police. An officer responded and located the driver at Mountain and Foothill. The officer observed the driver swerving from side to side in the number two lane. He stopped the vehicle for the vehicle code violation. Through investigation, the driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Fraud Investigation
August 22 at 5:13 p.m., a fraud incident was reported at a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington. The victim inadvertently left his wallet at the cash register and left the store. The female suspect behind him in line picked up the wallet and paid for her purchase, using the victim's credit card. The suspect then went to another business in Monrovia and made additional purchases. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
August 23 at 2:37 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of N. Primrose. The resident had just returned home and saw that her house had been ransacked. Two laptop computers, several pieces of jewelry, and checkbooks were taken. The suspect(s) also smashed two piggy banks belonging to the children who live
at the location. The suspect(s) entered through an unlocked door. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft / Felony Vandalism
August 23 at 2:30 p.m., a car dealership in the 1800 block of S. Shamrock reported that the windows on two vehicles had been shattered. When they inspected the vehicles, they realized the lockboxes for the vehicles were missing, they had been attached to the windows. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant Arrest
August 23 at 7:39 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of W. Duarte Road on the report of subjects loitering and drinking alcohol in front of a business. While at the location, officers detained one of the subjects, who had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested for the warrant and taken into custody.
Warrant Arrest
August 23 at 7:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to a vacant building in the 200 block of S. Madison on the report of someone possibly trespassing inside. Officers checked the building, but did not locate anyone inside. While checking the area, they located a subject who was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested for the warrant and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for June 5-7, 2017

Vehicle Burglary
June 5 at 8:35 a.m., a vehicle burglary that occurred in the 1200 block of S. Alta Vista
was reported to police. The victim parked his vehicle the evening before and returned to
it the next morning to find a window shattered and a gym bag that was in the vehicle
was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Suspicious Circumstances / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 12:02 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain
to investigate a suspicious female subject seen carrying merchandise around the inside
of the store. The same female had been seen at the store’s El Monte location, trying to
go out an emergency exit with similar merchandise and nearby stores were notified.
There was a vehicle parked outside the emergency exit that matched the description of
a vehicle seen at the El Monte location. Officers arrived, contacted the female and
stopped the vehicle, which had just left the parking lot. The vehicle was a rental that had
its plates covered and was being driven by a subject that was found to have a no-bail
probation warrant, in addition to other warrants. The male subject was arrested for the
warrants and the vehicle was stored. The female was identified and released, as she
had not left the store with the merchandise.
Domestic Battery
June 5 at 5:07 p.m., police responded to the report of a domestic battery incident in
progress in the 700 block of Montana. The suspect is the estranged husband of the
victim. The suspect came to the victim's residence while she had a male friend over and
became involved in a physical altercation with both the male subject and his estranged
wife. During the altercation, the suspect broke his ankle. The suspect was taken to a
hospital for treatment. He was issued a citation to appear in court on the battery
charges and was served with an Emergency Protective Order.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
June 7 at 6:10 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Pine Tree
Lane. The victim reported that the vehicle was parked on the street and was locked.
The vehicle was located by Monrovia parking control officers three hours later,
unoccupied, and parked in the 300 block of N Encinitas. Several items were missing
from the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the victim and the
investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
June 7 at 8:28 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of W. Cypress on the report of
a domestic violence incident. The investigation revealed that the male subject struck his
girlfriend during an argument. The altercation resulted in redness and bruising to the
female. The male subject was arrested for domestic violence.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
June 7 at 1:45 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain
Avenue to investigate a possible theft. Store loss prevention was observing a male
suspect inside the store concealing merchandise and a waiting vehicle outside. Officers
arrived and located the male suspect outside, next to the unoccupied vehicle. The
vehicle was found to be a reported stolen. The male suspect told police he had driven
the vehicle to the location and knew it was stolen. The suspect was arrested and taken
into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia –
Suspect Arrested
June 7 at 3:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Shamrock Avenue
regarding a possible domestic violence incident. The officers located the subjects and
determined there was no domestic violence that occurred, but during the course of the
investigation, they discovered the male subject was in possession of drug paraphernalia
and methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for May 29-31, 2017

Theft From a Vehicle May 29 at 10:56 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of S. Alta Vista regarding a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that she had secured her vehicle the day before at 2:00 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle and entered, she realized it was unlocked. She then saw items strewn about the vehicle. The items had previously been in the glovebox and center console. She reported that several items were missing. There was no sign of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.

Hit & Run Traffic Collison / Stolen Vehicle Recovered May 29 at 9:27 p.m., a hit and run traffic collision was reported at Encinitas and Foothill. The suspect vehicle hit a parked vehicle. The driver exited the suspect vehicle and entered a silver sedan that fled the area. The suspect vehicle that remained unoccupied at the collision was found to be a stolen vehicle reported to the Los Angeles Police Department the day prior. A silver sedan resembling the description of the vehicle the suspect fled in was stopped by officers nearby, but none of the witnesses were able to identify the suspect or the vehicle that fled the location. The subjects were identified and released. The investigation is continuing.

Assault – Suspect Arrested May 30 at 3:51 p.m., police dispatch received a call from a subject reporting her boyfriend had been involved in a fight at a business in the 700 block of E. Huntington and he was unconscious. Officers responded and determined two subjects had been involved in a fight. The victim sustained injuries to his face and the suspect had fled the scene. The officer conducted further investigation, identified the suspect and entered a wanted person entry into the law enforcement database for the suspect's arrest. On May 31, the suspect came to the Monrovia Police Department Lobby and turned himself in to police. The suspect was arrested without incident.

Violation of Restraining Order May 30 at 7:55 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was reported to police with its engine running in a business parking lot in the 2100 block of S. Myrtle. Officers arrived on scene and detained two subjects inside the vehicle. A computer check revealed there was a domestic violence restraining order against one of the parties and the other party was the protected person of the order. The protected person advised that he voluntarily picked up the restrained subject because she was hitch-hiking from Arizona. Officers arrested the restrained person and took her into custody for violation of the court order
