Highlighted Activity for January 26-29, 2017
Injury Traffic Collision
January 26 at 4:39 p.m., a traffic collision involving injuries was reported at Duarte Road and Sixth Avenue. One of the drivers rear ended the other, causing serious injuries to both drivers. Both were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Elder Abuse Scam
January 26 at 7:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of S. Fifth Avenue to speak with an elderly female regarding a possible fiduciary crime. The subject said she was befriended by a man on Facebook and they used Facebook messenger to speak with each other. The male subject told her he was in the military and was stuck in Dubois due to an explosion. He told her the explosion destroyed his credentials and he couldn't leave the country. He said he needed money sent to a travel agent in Amarillo, Texas. The elderly female eventually sent $20,000 through a wire transfer. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
January 26 at 9:20 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a man yelling and causing a disturbance in the 100 block of E. Olive. When officers arrived, they saw a male subject in the street. They contacted him and determined he was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The subject was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Violation of Court Order
January 27 at 7:16 p.m., a female subject from a business in the 100 block of W. Lime contacted police to report a violation of a court order. The subject has a restraining order against an ex-employee of hers that restricts contact, including electronic communication. The subject received a message through Yelp from the restrained person. The restrained person claimed the communication was an accident and that she meant to send the message to herself. A verified complaint was sent to the District Attorney’s office for filing consideration.
Bicycle Theft
January 27 at 9:39 p.m., a theft of two bicycles was reported in the 100 block of W. Foothill. Two juveniles left their bicycles outside of a fast food restaurant without securing them and went inside to eat. When they finished and came outside, there was a large group of juveniles in front of the business and their bicycles were gone. No witnesses came forward. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting / Identity theft – Suspect Arrested
January 27 at 9:44 p.m., loss prevention at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a female suspect they detained for shoplifting. The subject had concealed jewelry and clothing merchandise on her person. She was arrested for shoplifting, and during an inventory search of her property, two driver's licenses and social security cards belonging to other people were found in her possession. The additional crime was added to her charges.
Public Intoxication / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
January 28 at 8:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of S. Fifth Avenue regarding a subject sleeping in a hallway. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. When officers attempted to arrest the subject for being drunk in public, the subject resisted and struggled with the officers. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Embezzled Vehicle / Bench Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 28 at 1:25 p.m., officers located a vehicle at Myrtle and Chestnut that had been reported as an embezzled vehicle. The driver was detained for investigation. The victim was contacted and did not desire prosecution of the driver. The person who embezzled the car from the victim had sold it to the driver. The vehicle was recovered. During the investigation, it was discovered the driver had two outstanding bench warrants and a suspended driver's license. He was arrested and taken into custody for the warrants.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
January 28 at 8:37 p.m., a caller reported a possible drunk driver in the area of Myrtle and Duarte Road. Officers in the area conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and a DUI investigation was conducted. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested.
Commercial Burglary – Suspects Arrested
January 30 at 1:08 a.m., an alarm activation was received at a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington. When the officer arrived, he saw the front doors had been pried open. The store video depicted three suspects forcing the front door open and they attempted to break into the store safe with a sledge hammer. The suspect vehicle was a dark Chevy Tahoe with paper plates. At 3:00 a.m., an officer on patrol saw the suspect vehicle enter a car wash parking lot in the 100 block of W. Duarte. Additional units responded to assist and the two suspects were arrested for burglary.

Highlights April 19-21, 2016
Vandalism
April 18 at 7:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to a preschool in the 1000 block of S. Canyon regarding a vandalism incident. Unknown suspect had written graffiti on a school fence, which faced the adjacent park. The graffiti occurred sometime over the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
April 18 at 10:47 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of Parker. The victim locked his residence and left on April 17. When he returned home on April 18, he found the backdoor of the residence unlocked. Cash, a wristwatch and a speaker were stolen from the location. It appears the suspect unlocked the backdoor by reaching through an open dog door. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 19 at 12:59 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for several vehicle code violations. Upon contacting the driver, he noticed signs of intoxication. After conducting field sobriety tests, the officer arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The suspect was taken into custody and held for sobering.
Felony Evading – Suspect Arrested
April 19 at 12:58 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of N. Mountain on the report of a suspicious vehicle, possibly casing the neighborhood. The officer located the suspect vehicle at Foothill and Mountain. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled south on Mountain and entered the 210 Freeway, heading eastbound. The suspect was driving erratically at a high rate of speed and traffic conditions were heavy, so Monrovia police canceled the pursuit by police units. The Foothill Air Support Team helicopter continued to follow the vehicle and the California Highway Patrol picked up pursuit of the vehicle in San Bernardino County. The suspect and passenger in the vehicle were stopped by CHP and taken into custody for felony evading.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 20 at 9:53 p.m., a business in the 100 block of W. Duarte called police to report a distrubing subject. Police arrived and detained the subject as he was leaving the location. A computer check revealed the subject had a "no bail" parole warrant. He was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Bicycle Theft
April 20 at 11:13 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from the 400 block of S. Mayflower. The bicycle was taken from the property sometime during the day while the victim was away from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

Highlighted Activity for October 1-4, 2015
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 1 at 11:23 p.m., an officer detained a suspect in the 600 block of Shamrock for being in a park after closing hours. The investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation.
Stolen Vehicle
October 2 at 3:51 a.m., dispatch received a report of a stolen vehicle from a victim in the 200 block of West Cherry. The victim parked her vehicle in her driveway at 2:00 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle at 3:50 a.m., she discovered it missing. The vehicle is a 2000, red, four-door, Honda Civic. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 2 at 7:39 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of May Avenue regarding an alarm activation at a home. The residents left the home at 5:30 p.m. Officers determined forced entry was made through the kitchen side door, but nothing was found missing from inside the residence. Neighbors were contacted, but no one witnessed or heard anything unusual. The investigation is continuing.

October 2 at 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Ridgeside Drive regarding a burglary. The resident left the home at 11:00 a.m. When she returned home at 8:30 p.m., she found her bedroom and bathroom had been ransacked. It appears forced entry was made through the kitchen side door. Nothing was found to be missing from the residence. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 1:28 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of South Myrtle when he observed an unconscious male subject on the sidewalk near a parked vehicle. The subject was extremely intoxicated and determined unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 2:49 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Peck and Live Oak for a vehicle code violation. The investigation revealed the subject was driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Grand Theft Bicycle
October 4 at 1:35 a.m., a bicycle theft in progress was reported in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. The investigation led officers to an apartment complex near 3rd and Genoa in the City of Arcadia. The bicycle was recovered, but the suspect has not been identified. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
October 4 at 6:26 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of North Ivy. An officer responded, but no evidence was located at the scene. At 1:37 p.m., the vehicle was recovered by deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Industry Station. A Monrovia officer responded to fingerprint the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle vs. Bicycle Traffic Collision
October 4 at 11:21 a.m., a vehicle verses bicycle collision was reported in the 600 block of Terrado. A 13-year-old bicyclist traveling west on Sombrero turned onto northbound Terrado and collided with a vehicle traveling south on Terrado. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet, which prevented him from sustaining major injuries. He was taken to a hospital due to complaint of pain in his legs and chest.

October 4 at 11:45 a.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of California regarding a vehicle burglary. The suspect entered a locked vehicle and took an iPod, CD's and a charger. The investigation is continuing.

October 4 at 11:51 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Royal Oaks. An officer responded and determined that the suspect forced open the door and entered the locked vehicle. The suspect took miscellaneous tools. The investigation is continuing.

Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
June 25 at 4:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South California regarding a juvenile taking a delivered FedEx box from a porch. The officer arrived and located the suspect in a park across the street. The suspect was positively identified by a witness to the theft; he was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect was later cited out to a parent.
Theft From a Vehicle
June 26 at 8:42 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a residence in the 700 block of West Huntington. The victim had parked his truck in his driveway, but forgot to put the lock on the outer toolbox. Miscellaneous tools were stolen from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
June 26 at 11:09 a.m., two vehicles were reported burglarized in the 900 block of South Primrose. The reporting party’s company had parked two trucks in front of the location at approximately 8:00 p.m. All of the tool boxes, windows and doors were secured. The next morning at 8:00 a.m., an employee came to work and saw both vehicles had been broken into, ransacked, and miscellaneous equipment had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
June 26 at 9:02 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. The victim parked and went into a store. He returned to his vehicle approximately an hour later and saw his vehicle, a white Escalade, had been broken into and the third row seat was missing. The investigation is continuing.

Weapons Offense/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 12:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Walnut on the report of a male subject causing a disturbance. The subject was banging on the door of a motorhome parked at the location. When officers arrived, they contacted the subject, along with three other male subjects at the location. A pat down search for the officer's safety revealed the first male detained was in possession of illegal brass knuckles and a used pipe for smoking methamphetamine. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. The other three subjects were identified and released.
Vehicle Burglary
June 30 at 7:37 a.m., a commercial vehicle parked at a hotel in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue was broken into by unknown means. A GPS that was in the center console and a mounted DriveCam device was stolen. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
June 30 at 2:34 p.m., a husband and wife were driving in their car, heading north on Magnolia toward Colorado. The husband was driving and suddenly veered into an unoccupied, parked truck. The force of the collision moved the truck approximately 25 feet forward, and the car flipped over twice. Both occupants of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. There was no sign of alcohol involved.
Bicycle Theft
June 30 at 8:44 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of South Ivy regarding a bicycle theft. The owner of the bike said he left it unsecured on the side of his house at 5:00 p.m., and when he returned at 7:30 p.m., it was gone. The side of the house is visible from the street. He described his bike as a BMX Free Agent with a grey frame, black handle bars, a black front wheel and red rear wheel. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 11:07 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of East Lime Avenue regarding a family disturbance. When they arrived, they spoke with the renter of the apartment. She told them she had allowed her adult grandson, who is homeless, to stay with her for one week, but she now wanted him out of her home. She refused to open the front door for him when he arrived home. He became angry and forced the door open, causing damage to the door frame. When he entered, he saw she had packed all his belongings into a bag. The grandson was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest; he was arrested and taken into custody.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
July 1 at 3:23 a.m., a female was reported to be chasing a male south on Shamrock, approaching Huntington. Officers arrived and both were detained to investigate. The subjects were found to be husband and wife, and they had been involved in an argument at home. The husband left the house and the wife followed him, yelling at him as they walked. While officers were speaking with the female, it was apparent she had been drinking. The officer determined she was too intoxicated to care for her own safety and that her husband was not able to care for her either, so she was arrested for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Outstanding Warrants – Suspects Arrested
July 1 at 8:05 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of West Huntington and recognized two subjects walking east on the sidewalk. They knew both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest. A computer check confirmed the warrants and both subjects were arrested; the subjects were held, pending their court appearance.
