Residential Burglary
September 22 at 8:02 a.m., an officer was dispatched on the report of a residential burglary in the 1500 block of S. Mayflower Avenue. The victim called to report that sometime between 2:00 and 4:30 a.m., someone entered his attached garage and stole items. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Altered Imitation Firearm / Possession of Dangerous Fireworks – Suspect Arrested
September 22 at 11:03 a.m., a suspicious subject was reported in the 2700 block of S. Peck Road. Officers responded and contacted the subject, who was seated in a parked vehicle, attempting to hide from the officers. A computer check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was also found to be in possession of a modified replica firearm and fireworks. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 22 at 2:23 p.m., a disturbing subject was reported in the 800 block of W. Colorado. The subject was causing a disturbance in front of the high school. Officers made contact and determined the suspect was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released from custody with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Residential Burglary
September 22 at 4:24 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 1000 block of E. Lemon. The home had been burglarized sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
September 23 at 9:09 a.m., a petty theft was reported in the 500 block of Norumbega Road. The victim left his surfboard and wetsuit on his porch overnight to dry. When he returned the next morning, he discovered someone had stolen his property. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 23 at 9:33 a.m., an officer responded to the report of a male subject lying in the middle of a parking lot in the 900 block of W. Huntington, smoking a cigarette. Officers contacted the subject and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
September 23 at 9:53 a.m., a business owner in the 700 block of W. Huntington Drive called police to report a subject that was causing a disturbance at his business and was refusing to leave. Officers arrived and contacted the subject. He was arrested for trespassing. The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
September 23 at 3:55 p.m., a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 100 block of W. Foothill. The suspect stole merchandise from the business. Officers arrived and located the suspect. He was placed under citizen’s arrest and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
September 23 at 11:38 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Bradbury Road on the report of a residential burglary. The resident arrived home after being away from the residence for two weeks to find the home had been burglarized. It appears the suspect removed a swamp cooler from the window to gain entry to the home. Items of jewelry were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Theft
September 24 at 10:50 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of S. Shamrock Avenue. The victim called to report his catalytic converter was stolen from his vehicle sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
September 24 at 6:23 p.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington. The suspect entered the business and asked to look at the best wedding ring in the jewelry department. Once the clerk handed the ring to the suspect, he took the ring and ran out of the store to a waiting vehicle. A second suspect was driving the vehicle, a white Toyota Tercel. An area search for the suspects was conducted, but they were not located. The investigation is continuing
Traffic Collision
September 25 at 8:12 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in the 1700 block of S. Mayflower. A vehicle was making a right turn onto Mayflower from Genoa and struck a bicyclist who was traveling on the wrong side of the road with no headlight in the darkness. The bicyclist complained of pain to her arm and neck. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Highlighted Activity for April 28 – May 1, 2016

Vehicle Burglary
April 28 at 1:02 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of W. Maple regarding a vehicle burglary. A witness heard the sound of a window shattering. The witness saw a heavy-set, male Hispanic, 20-40 years old, reach in through the shattered window of a parked vehicle. A white, newer-model truck with no plates pulled up next to the male, blocking the view, so the witness could not see if he took anything from the vehicle. The male suspect entered the passenger side of the truck and they fled west on Maple, then north on Mayflower, out of sight. Officers searched the area for the truck, but were unable to locate it. The victim arrived and told officers her makeup bag was stolen from the driver's seat of the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
April 29 at 5:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the report of a male and female involved in an argument, which had escalated and become physical. Officers arrived and interviewed the subjects. They determined the male subject had physically injured the female and was the primary aggressor. The male subject was arrested for domestic violence. The female was advised of her rights and available assistance.
Vehicle Vandalism
April 29 at 7:25 p.m., a vehicle vandalism was reported at a business parking lot in the 300 block of W. Huntington. The victim was inside the business shopping and upon exiting the store, he observed the suspect key his vehicle. The suspect is a former roommate the victim had evicted several months prior. The victim believes the suspect is now homeless. The suspect was not located. The investigation is continuing.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
April 29 at 8:40 p.m., the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter observed a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed lose control at the intersection of El Nido and Hillcrest and it landed in the front yards of two properties. Officers responded and located the vehicle and the driver. The driver said he was traveling 40 to 50 miles per hour, heading east on Hillcrest. When he passed El Nido, he lost control and went airborne. He landed onto two properties in their front yards. Police received several calls from residents who heard the accident. No one was injured.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 30 at 2:25 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign at the intersection of Magnolia and Evergreen. He conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver had been drinking. After performing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and held for a sobering period.
Shoplifting – Suspects Arrested
April 30 at 12:38 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a theft of tools that just occurred. The two adult, male suspects were detained by officers, driving away from the scene in a white Chevrolet Tahoe. The tools were recovered and returned to the store. The two suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Family Disturbance / Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
May 1 at 12:25 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 900 block of S. Mayflower where a family was involved in a verbal argument. One of the subjects had left prior to police arriving, but she was located on an adjacent street talking on her cell phone. The subject was found to be extremely intoxicated and unable to care for herself. She was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.

Highlighted Activity for March 17-20, 2016


Vehicle Burglary
March 17 at 4:33 p.m., the victim of a vehicle burglary came to the police department lobby to file a report. The victim parked her vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 block of West Colorado. When she returned, her purse was missing from inside the vehicle. The victim believes she locked the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 17 at 5:18 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 500 block of S. Shamrock. The front passenger-side window was smashed and a handbag, tablet and other miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 12:17 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of West Lemon called police to report a male subject on his lawn. Officers arrived and located a male subject wandering around in the area that matched the description. The subject was intoxicated and did not know where he was. The officers determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 12:50 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a male subject stumbling down the street. He stopped the subject to check on his welfare and determined he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The subject was arrested and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 1:50 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation, and while speaking with the driver, the officer could smell alcohol. After field sobriety tests were performed, it was determined the subject was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 4:41 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Norumbega regarding the report of drug activity at the location. The resident gave the officers consent to search the location and officers found drug paraphernalia. A female subject admitted the items were hers and she was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Receiving Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
March 19 at 12:56 a.m., officers detained a subject walking through a park in the 700 block of E. Lemon after it was closed. The subject was walking with a bike that had an address and a phone number on it. The officers phoned and spoke to the owner of the bike, who reported his bike had been stolen. The subject was arrested for receiving stolen property and taken into custody.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Weapons Offenses – Five Suspects Arrested
March 19 at 10:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding foot traffic in and out of one of the rooms. Hotel employees suspected possible prostitution. The subjects had also set off the fire alarm in the room earlier in the week and marijuana was smelled coming from the room. When officers arrived, they contacted two males and one female in the room. The female and one of the male subjects are known gang members. The other male is a known drug user and burglar from prior police contacts in Monrovia. The subject who rented the room was not present. Drug paraphernalia and an empty Beretta handgun case were located in the room. The three subjects in the room were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
As one of the officers was leaving the hotel, he saw another known local drug user pumping gas into a vehicle at a gas station across the street. There was a male and female seated in the vehicle. A computer check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was registered to the subject who rented the room at the hotel. Officers detained all three subjects. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Beretta handgun, a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and cash. A total of 5 suspects were arrested for drug and weapon related charges in this incident.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 19 at 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check of a female subject in the area of Myrtle and Chestnut. Officers located the female subject matching the reported description and determined she had been drinking and was not capable of taking care of herself. She was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Vandalism
March 20 at 10:25 a.m., the vice principal at the high school in the 800 block of Colorado called police to report vandalism of school property. Someone had spray painted gang related graffiti on several buildings. The vandalism occurred sometime over the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 20 at 5:12 p.m., an officer saw a male subject he recognized walking down the sidewalk in the 600 block of S. Mountain. The officer knew the subject had a warrant for
his arrest. A computer check confirmed the warrant for his arrest with a bail set at $100,000 for driving without a license. The subject was arrested for the warrant.

Highlighted Activity for February 29 – March 2, 2016


Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
February 29 at 9:27 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 400 block of West Huntington. Staff at the business reported that a subject was possibly using drugs inside their restroom. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who admitted he had drug needles in his possession. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
March 1 at 8:36 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 400 block of West Evergreen regarding a theft of vehicle parts. The suspect entered the work yard and used tools to remove a 52 inch LED light bar from the top of one of the trucks in the lot. The employees were working inside the building during the theft. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 1 at 7:34 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 700 block of East Huntington. The victim arrived at the parking lot and went into the gym to work out. When she returned to her vehicle approximatley an hour later, she found that someone had punched the driver side door lock to open her truck. She discovered a pair of sunglasses were missing from her vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Brandishing a Weapon
March 2 at 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a skate park in the 800 block of East Olive on the report of an altercation where a male adult brandished a pocket knife at a skateboarder. Officers arrived and determined the subject brandished the knife from a distance. The subject was interviewed and displayed behavior of mental illness. He was taken to a local facility and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation. The subject does not reside in Monrovia.
Grand Theft from Vehicle
March 2 at 6:17 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported at a hotel parking lot in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue. The victim was checking into the hotel two days ago. While she was checking in with the office, someone took cash from her unlocked vehicle. She delayed reporting the theft because she thought she had just misplaced the money. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 10:18 p.m., an intoxicated subject was reported at a business in the 300 block of West Huntington. He was following employees around in the parking lot. An officer arrived and arrested the male adult subject, who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was held for a sobering period.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 3 at 12:43 a.m., a citizen called police to report a male adult subject running in the street at Palm and Ivy, acting unusual. Officers arrived and saw the subject throw something onto the ground. The subject was detained. An officer located an object containing a white powder substance on the ground near the subject. A search of the subject revealed a baggie containing what the officer believed to be a controlled substance. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The substance tested positive for cocaine.

Highlighted Activity for February 25-28, 2016


Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 25 at 7:53 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Duarte and Myrtle. The officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver continued for several blocks before eventually coming to a stop. While the officer was speaking with the driver, he could smell the odor of alcohol. The driver was intoxicated and had difficulty standing. He was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was and arrested and held for sobering.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
February 26 at 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious person at a business in the 2100 block of South Myrtle. When they arrived, several subjects were located inside the gates of the business. They were all detained for investigation. One subject had methamphetamine on them, along with a drug smoking pipe. The subject had no identification and was subsequently arrested in order to identify them for the citation to appear in court. A second subject was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and also having no identification.
Grand Theft Auto
February 26 at 7:53 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of Linwood. The vehicle is a black, 2013 Honda Crosstour. The victim’s friend parked and locked the vehicle in the driveway at approximately 8:30 p.m. The victim went out in the morning at approximately 7:40 a.m. and saw her vehicle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
February 26 at 7:30 p.m., police received a call reporting a female adult crawling down the street in the 200 block of East Cypress Avenue. Officers located the subject and determined she was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 12:27 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation and during the stop, determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was held for sobering.
Warrant/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 11:07 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 2600 block of South Mountain and contacted a suspicious person in a business parking lot. The subject was found to have a warrant for their arrest and was in possession of Heroin. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for the charges.
Suspicious Person/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 3:22 p.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of West Huntington. They arrived and contacted the subject, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. It was determined that the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
February 28 at 11:15 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block of Linwood. An unknown suspect smashed the window of the vehicle and took a camera that was left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
February 28 at 7:41 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 600 block of South Primrose. A witness called police to report a suspect on a bike just shot out his tenant’s car window. The suspect is described as a male Black wearing a black shirt with white writing on it. Officers searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him. It appears the window was damaged with a BB pellet. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 28 at 8:56 p.m., an officer was in the area of Foothill and Primrose and noticed a subject on a bicycle he knew had an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer made a traffic stop on the bicyclist and contacted the subject. A computer check confirmed the arrest warrant and the suspect was taken into custody. During a search of the suspect, the officer located a baggie containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket. The suspect was arrested and is being held pending his court appearance.

Highlighted Activity for November 23-29, 2015




 Vehicle Burglary
November 23 at 6:56 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of South Alta Vista. A truck and an SUV were parked next to each other in the carport. Unknown suspect(s) shattered windows on both vehicles, reached in and took tool boxes from both vehicles. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 23 at 7:00 a.m., a grey Nissan pickup was reported stolen from Magnolia, parked between Lime and Lemon. The owner of the vehicle kept a spare key in the glovebox. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 23 at 8:45 a.m., an off-duty officer called Monrovia police to report a possible drunk driver committing vehicle code violations. An officer responded, located the vehicle and also observed a vehicle code violation. He conducted a traffic stop and after investigation, determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft From a Vehicle/Burglary
November 23 at 4:42 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Linwood. Suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked on the street and took two remotes that were inside the vehicle. One remote opened the gate to the complex and the second remote opened the garage. The suspect(s) entered the complex using the remote, opened the garage and stole tools from inside. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 23 at 7:08 p.m., the registered owner of a vehicle came into the police lobby to report her vehicle had been stolen from the 800 block of Monterey Avenue. She explained that she had allowed her unlicensed son to borrow her vehicle several days prior. She later learned that her son had been arrested for a home robbery in Monrovia. Her vehicle had been taken by one of the subjects who had been with her son during the robbery. She did not give anyone other than her son permission to use her vehicle.
The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement stolen vehicle computer database. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collison/Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 23 at 7:29 p.m., officers responded to Foothill and Violet on the report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. They arrived and located both parties. They learned the bicyclist had been riding on the wrong side of the street and was struck by the vehicle. The bicyclist was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI after being cleared by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics.
Vehicle Burglary
November 24 at 4:37 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at Alta Vista and Lemon. A work truck with locking drawers on the utility bed was parked on the street on Alta Vista. Unknown suspect forced open one of the drawers and stole tools from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
November 25 at 7:59 a.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of East Lemon regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered a locked vehicle and stole a third row seat. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
November 25 at 11:53 a.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the 500 block of south Myrtle. The female driver claimed she borrowed the car. There were items found inside the vehicle that belonged to the driver, as well as numerous papers, identification and other paperwork that did not belong to the driver. The investigation on fraud related charges is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
November 25 at 2:55 p.m., a resident called police to report a vehicle burglary in the 600 block of Huntington. Unknown suspect(s) shattered the passenger side window of the vehicle and stole the GPS from the driver-side dash area. The investigation is continuing.
Felony Evading/Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspects Arrested
November 25 at 9:38 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle make a turn from Mountain onto Huntington, heading east without stopping at the red signal. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle as it traveled at a high rate of speed, but the driver continued to travel east for approximately three miles, eventually stopping on Huntington at Irwindale Avenue. A high-risk stop was conducted. During the investigation, officers noticed the driver, a 19-year-old, and passenger displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The driver and passenger were arrested and taken into custody.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Brandishing a Knife/Drunk in Public – Four Suspects Arrested
November 26 at 1:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of Lime and Myrtle regarding a fight between a male and female. During the call, it was reported that the male subject had a knife. Officers arrived and observed a male and female involved in an altercation. The male subject had the female subject in what appeared to be a chokehold. As the officers approached, the male subject released the female and began to advance toward the officers. He told the officers to shoot him and continued to advance toward one of the officers. The suspect refused to follow the officers’ commands to stop and one of the officers deployed his Taser. The suspect was subdued and taken into custody.

Through investigation, it was learned that three suspects were involved in the altercation prior to police arrival. A male subject had approached and told the male suspect to leave the female alone. The male and female, along with another male, then attacked the intervening subject and began kicking him until he fell to the ground. Two other male bystanders yelled out to the suspects to leave the male subject alone and one of the suspects brandished a knife. The bystanders backed off and called police. Three suspects were arrested for the assault on the male victim, and one female was arrested at the scene for being drunk in public.
Grand Theft Auto
November 26 at 2:40 p.m., a resident from the 500 block of West Colorado called police to report her vehicle had been stolen. She went to her vehicle and discovered her brown, 1996 Honda Accord had been stolen from her residence. A screwdriver was located on the ground where her vehicle had been parked the night before. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary/Grand Theft Auto
November 26 at 3:17 p.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of East Lemon regarding a residential burglary and stolen vehicle. The victim reported that the keys to his vehicle and a bag containing two laptops were taken from inside his residence, and that his vehicle had also been stolen. He said the door to his residence was not secured. The victim could not verify ownership of the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Vandalism
November 26 at 9:32 p.m., a female subject called police from the 800 block of West Foothill to report her ex-boyfriend was driving around her apartment complex. The subject recently received a restraining order against the ex-boyfriend. Officers checked the area for the ex-boyfriend, but he was not found. Several hours later the female subject called back and reported that all four tires on her son's vehicle had been slashed. An officer responded to investigate the vandalism. The son's vehicle was parked in a public parking lot near the female subject’s apartment when vandalized. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
November 26 at 11:50 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of West Lemon regarding a residential burglary. The victim left their residence for a Thanksgiving dinner. When they arrived home, they noticed the front door was open and the house was ransacked. It appears the suspect(s) gained entry through an unlocked window. A handheld safe containing credit cards was taken.
Mental Evaluation
November 27 at 7:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Huntington and the 210 Freeway regarding a female walking in and out of traffic. Officers located a female subject who has mental problems and has been placed on mental holds repeatedly.
Officers spoke with the female and determined she could not care for herself. She was taken to a mental facility and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation.
Grand Theft
November 27 at 1:52 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of Huntington regarding a grand theft. The victim reported the third row seat to his Cadillac Escalade was taken out of his vehicle while he was inside a business. He reported that he was only out of his vehicle for 15 minutes. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
November 28 at 4:25 p.m., a resident from the 300 block of Scenic Drive called police to report the house next to his appeared to have an open door and that the residents were not at home. Officers arrived to find the front door had been broken into and unknown suspects had ransacked several rooms in the home. Officers cleared the residence and secured the door. The residents were notified and were on their way home. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 9:40 a.m., an officer responded to the 1300 block of Alta Vista regarding the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle stolen was a white Honda Civic. The vehicle was stolen between 1:00 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Strong Armed Robbery
November 29 at 8:03 p.m., officers responded to the area of Ivy and Huntington regarding a robbery. The female victim was walking south on Ivy from Huntington when two male Hispanics ran up from behind and struck her on the head with a glass bottle. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects pulled her purse from her possession. The suspects were last seen heading east on Cypress out of view. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 8:15 p.m., a resident called from the 300 block of West Huntington to report his vehicle had been stolen. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in the parking lot of a business and left for the weekend. He returned on November 29 and discovered his vehicle was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Arson
November 29 at 12:23 p.m., an officer responded to Monrovia High School in the 800 block of West Colorado regarding suspicious circumstances. A witness reported hearing glass breaking at the high school, seeing flames and a male subject running away from the area. The witness followed the suspect. Containment of the area was established, and a male juvenile was located and taken into custody. The suspect is a student at the school. The Monrovia Fire Department is handling the arson investigation and said the counseling office sustained severe damage. The juvenile was taken to the Eastlake Juvenile Detention Facility. The school principal was on scene and confirmed they will continue to hold classes. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 8-11, 2015


Traffic Stop/Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
October 9 at 8:34 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of California and Cypress when he observed a bicyclist riding at night without a light. When the officer attempted to detain the subject, he fled into the backyard of a nearby residence. Officers quickly set up containment of the area, and the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter responded to assist. The suspect was found hiding inside of a trashcan in the yard. The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital for medical clearance for a puncture wound he received jumping over a fence. The suspect was determined to be a juvenile. He was medically cleared, booked for the charges, and then released on a citation to appear in court. The juvenile was released to the custody of his mother.
Welfare Check/Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 9 at 10:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to Palm and Ivy regarding the welfare check of a subject lying on the ground. An intoxicated male was found lying flat on his back. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene to medically evaluate the subject. The subject was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested for public intoxication and taken into custody. He was held for sobering.
Domestic Violence/Kidnapping – Suspect Arrested
October 10 at 4:01 a.m., officers responded to the report of a domestic violence incident in progress in the 200 block of East Los Angeles. The reporting party said the suspect and victim were leaving the area in a vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it was leaving the location. The male suspect and female victim are boyfriend and girlfriend. The victim told officers that her boyfriend grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth, causing a visible scratch to her face. When the victim tried to break free, he threw her down onto the grass. The suspect then picked up the victim and forced her into the vehicle against her will, causing her to hit her head. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was held pending his court appearance
Battery with Great Bodily Injury – Suspect Arrested
October 11 at 7:38 a.m., an officer responded to a hospital regarding a victim that had been battered during the night at Shamrock and Olive. The victim was involved in an
altercation and was extremely intoxicated at the time of the incident. In the morning, he went to the hospital because of eye swelling and head pain. His recollections were vague, but he was diagnosed with a fractured eye socket and a minor bleed in his brain by the medical staff. A detailed investigation identified the suspect, who was located and admitted to striking the victim. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
October 11 at 5:32 p.m., a domestic violence incident was reported in the 200 block of North Shamrock. During an argument, the suspect placed his hand on the victim's neck causing a minor injury. The suspect left the residence before police arrived, but he was located at a park in the 700 block of East Lemon. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 12 at 1:36 a.m., police received a call reporting a vehicle that was driving erratically in the area of Mountain and the 210 Freeway. Officers arrived and found the vehicle parked in a business parking lot in the 1600 block of South Mountain. The occupant in the vehicle was obviously intoxicated and admitted to driving while drunk. The driver was arrested, taken into custody, and held for a sobering period.

Highlighted Activity for August 20-23, 2015

Structure Fire
August 20 at 1:47 p.m., officers responded to an apartment structure fire in the 500 block of West Foothill. The apartment complex consisted of four units, but the fire was contained to only one unit. No residents were home, but three dogs were rescued from the fire and suffered smoke inhalation. The fire started in a bedroom and was possibly caused by electrical failure. No residents were injured.
Residential Burglary
August 20 at 7:33 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of McKinley. The investigation revealed the suspect entered the victim's home by prying open the rear door. The suspect took camera equipment from the location. The burglary occurred sometime between 12:00 and 7:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
Theft of a Firearm
August 21 at 3:00 p.m., the theft of a firearm was reported in the 300 block of Prospect. The victim stated his rifle was lost or stolen during shipping. The victim shipped his rifle and scope to Missouri. The sealed package arrived, but the rifle and scope were missing. The rifle was entered into the stolen firearm system. The investigation is continuing.
Receiving Stolen Property/Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
August 21 at 9:47 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of Ocean View on the report of a suspicious person riding a motorized scooter in the area. Upon arrival, the officer contacted the subject and discovered the scooter had been reported stolen. The subject claimed he rented the scooter for $40.00 from an unknown subject at a park in the 300 block of South Myrtle. The subject was also in possession of marijuana. The subject was arrested for receiving stolen property and taken into custody.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
August 21 at 10:11 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Madeline regarding a suspicious female loitering in the area. Upon arrival, the officer contacted the subject and discovered she had a warrant for her arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant. She was later released to the Temple Sheriff’s Department, as the warrant was from their agency.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
August 22 at 2:03 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle in the area of Palm & Magnolia commit a vehicle code violation and stopped the vehicle. Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had been drinking and, after field testing, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
August 22 at 2:24 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of West Lemon when he saw a subject displaying signs of intoxication. Upon contacting the subject, it was determined he was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The subject was arrested for public intoxication, taken into custody and held for sobering.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
August 22 at 6:53 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Violet on the report of domestic violence in progress. They contacted the victim, who had significant visible injuries to her face. The suspect had left the location. The victim was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, where she was admitted for her injuries. The suspect's vehicle was entered into the law enforcement system as a felony vehicle.
Hours later, Huntington Beach Police Department notified Monrovia police that they had the vehicle and suspect detained. Monrovia officers responded to arrest the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody and held pending his court appearance.
Theft of a Motor Scooter
August 23 at 6:54 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a stolen motor scooter from the 300 block of South Shamrock. The victim parked his Yamaha scooter in front of the location at 12:30 p.m. on August 21. When he returned to where he parked the scooter on August 23 at 7:15 p.m., the scooter was gone. The investigation is continuing.
Non-Injury Hit & Run Traffic Collision
August 23 at 8:02 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of East Maple regarding a hit and run traffic collision investigation. During the investigation, a witness was interviewed and a suspect vehicle was identified. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for July 30 – August 2, 2015

Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
July 31 at 1:50 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain regarding a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the suspect also had an outstanding warrant out of El Monte for her arrest. The officer arrested the suspect and took her into custody. She was later released on a citation to appear in court on the shoplifting charges. El Monte Police Department officers responded and took custody of the suspect per the authority of their warrant.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
July 31 at 9:27 p.m., officers observed a vehicle heading southbound on Ivy, approaching Huntington. The male driver drove through the posted stop sign without coming to a complete stop. The officer pulled the vehicle over for the violation in the area of Myrtle and Maple. Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had been drinking, and after field testing, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
During the investigation, the driver’s girlfriend drove up in a second vehicle. Officers observed that she was also displaying signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were performed, and it was determined she had driven to the location while under the influence of alcohol; she was arrested for DUI, also.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
August 1 at 12:30 a.m., an adult female was located lying on the asphalt in the parking lot across from the police department in the 100 block of East Lime. Officers contacted her and discovered she had been drinking and was having difficulty communicating and standing. Officers determined she could not care for her own safety; she was placed under arrest for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
August 1 at 1:32 a.m., officers observed a vehicle driving erratically and stopped the vehicle at Myrtle and California. After contacting the driver, it was determined that the driver had been drinking. The officers asked the driver to perform field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
August 1 at 8:45 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Olive regarding the violation of a domestic violence restraining order. The female resident called police to report she saw her ex-husband outside her residence. He has been served with a restraining order and is to stay away from the location. Officers located the suspect nearby and he admitted to being at the location; he was arrested for violation of the restraining order.
Traffic Collision/Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
August 2 at 3:35 a.m., a driver heading the wrong way on Central at Mountain struck another vehicle. There were no obvious injuries, but both parties complained of pain. They were both treated at the scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics. The driver of the wrong way vehicle was arrested for driving under the influence and was later released to a parent.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision
August 2 at 8:15 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Maple on the report of a hit and run traffic collision. The victim parked his company vehicle in his driveway at 2:00 a.m. When he returned to the vehicle at 8:00 a.m., he found collision damage to the rear of the vehicle. It appears a vehicle drove into the driveway, crashed into the rear of the vehicle, and fled the scene. The victim did not hear a collision during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
August 2 at 3:18 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business in the 900 block of West Duarte. A 1992 Toyota pickup, white with blue stripes, was stolen. The bed of the truck was full of wood. The suspect is described as a male White in his mid-30s with shaggy hair. The victim left the vehicle running in the parking lot while he went into the business. The suspect jumped into the vehicle and fled the area. Officers searched the area, but the vehicle was not located; surrounding agencies were notified. The vehicle was recovered in Pasadena at 6:10 p.m. and was returned to the owner. The
investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for June 25-28, 2015
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
June 25 at 4:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South California regarding a juvenile taking a delivered FedEx box from a porch. The officer arrived and located the suspect in a park across the street. The suspect was positively identified by a witness to the theft; he was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect was later cited out to a parent.
Theft From a Vehicle
June 26 at 8:42 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a residence in the 700 block of West Huntington. The victim had parked his truck in his driveway, but forgot to put the lock on the outer toolbox. Miscellaneous tools were stolen from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
June 26 at 11:09 a.m., two vehicles were reported burglarized in the 900 block of South Primrose. The reporting party’s company had parked two trucks in front of the location at approximately 8:00 p.m. All of the tool boxes, windows and doors were secured. The next morning at 8:00 a.m., an employee came to work and saw both vehicles had been broken into, ransacked, and miscellaneous equipment had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
June 26 at 9:02 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. The victim parked and went into a store. He returned to his vehicle approximately an hour later and saw his vehicle, a white Escalade, had been broken into and the third row seat was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Highlighted Activity for June 29 – July 1, 2015
Weapons Offense/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 12:54 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Walnut on the report of a male subject causing a disturbance. The subject was banging on the door of a motorhome parked at the location. When officers arrived, they contacted the subject, along with three other male subjects at the location. A pat down search for the officer's safety revealed the first male detained was in possession of illegal brass knuckles and a used pipe for smoking methamphetamine. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. The other three subjects were identified and released.
Vehicle Burglary
June 30 at 7:37 a.m., a commercial vehicle parked at a hotel in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue was broken into by unknown means. A GPS that was in the center console and a mounted DriveCam device was stolen. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
June 30 at 2:34 p.m., a husband and wife were driving in their car, heading north on Magnolia toward Colorado. The husband was driving and suddenly veered into an unoccupied, parked truck. The force of the collision moved the truck approximately 25 feet forward, and the car flipped over twice. Both occupants of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. There was no sign of alcohol involved.
Bicycle Theft
June 30 at 8:44 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of South Ivy regarding a bicycle theft. The owner of the bike said he left it unsecured on the side of his house at 5:00 p.m., and when he returned at 7:30 p.m., it was gone. The side of the house is visible from the street. He described his bike as a BMX Free Agent with a grey frame, black handle bars, a black front wheel and red rear wheel. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
June 30 at 11:07 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of East Lime Avenue regarding a family disturbance. When they arrived, they spoke with the renter of the apartment. She told them she had allowed her adult grandson, who is homeless, to stay with her for one week, but she now wanted him out of her home. She refused to open the front door for him when he arrived home. He became angry and forced the door open, causing damage to the door frame. When he entered, he saw she had packed all his belongings into a bag. The grandson was found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest; he was arrested and taken into custody.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
July 1 at 3:23 a.m., a female was reported to be chasing a male south on Shamrock, approaching Huntington. Officers arrived and both were detained to investigate. The subjects were found to be husband and wife, and they had been involved in an argument at home. The husband left the house and the wife followed him, yelling at him as they walked. While officers were speaking with the female, it was apparent she had been drinking. The officer determined she was too intoxicated to care for her own safety and that her husband was not able to care for her either, so she was arrested for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Outstanding Warrants – Suspects Arrested
July 1 at 8:05 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of West Huntington and recognized two subjects walking east on the sidewalk. They knew both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest. A computer check confirmed the warrants and both subjects were arrested; the subjects were held, pending their court appearance.

Highlighted activity weekend of 6/12-15/2015


Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested 
On June 11 at 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of South Myrtle regarding a family disturbance. When they arrived they discovered a female with scratch marks on her face. She told the officers her boyfriend, whom she lives with, hit and pushed her causing the injuries. After investigating, officers arrested the male for domestic violence. 
Vehicle Burglary On June 11 at 8:11 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim reported his vehicle was broken into and his stereo and navigation system were taken. The vehicle’s back window was smashed to gain access. The investigation is continuing 
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Hit and Run Traffic Collision/Suspended License – Suspect Arrested 
On June 12 at 2:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a call of a traffic collision that just occurred. Officers arrived and discovered a solo vehicle collision into a garage door. The driver had fled the area prior to officers arriving. A witness was located who described the driver of the vehicle and said he fled on foot. Officers located the driver of the vehicle within 10 minutes. The suspect admitted to fleeing the scene of the accident and drinking alcohol prior to the collision. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run and suspended license. 
Warrant - Suspect Arrest 
On June 12 at 2:16 p.m., an officer responded to the Monrovia Police lobby regarding a violation of court order. The subject’s ex-girlfriend was in violation of child custody orders; however, he did not have the order with him. A computer check to view the order also revealed the male had an outstanding warrant for his arrest with a bail over $200,000 and a request from LA County Probation to not release if arrested. The subject was taken into custody and arrested for the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested 
On June 12 at 12:19 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the 100 block of West Olive. A subsequent investigation revealed the motorist was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 
Public Intoxication 
On June 13 at 12:16 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a security officer in the 300 block of South Myrtle. The security officer reported a male subject in front of the business who was intoxicated. It was determined he was unable to care for himself and arrested for public intoxication. He was later released after sobering. 
Medical Assist 
On June 13 at 12:37 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Myrtle regarding an unconscious subject. The subject was found to be extremely intoxicated and was transported to the hospital for treatment. 
Fight in Progress
On June 13 at 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business reporting a fight in progress in the 300 block of South Myrtle. During the evening a large group of subjects gathered at the bar and celebrated downstairs. Upstairs another group of subjects were playing pool. Between the two groups there were well over 300 patrons in the bar. A reporting party came to the police station to report subjects were "Mad Dogging" each other. Officers extra patrolled the bar and talked to the bar owner who agreed to close at 1:30 a.m. As the bar closed and subjects were leaving, three separate fights broke out. 
A large fight ensued on Myrtle Avenue in front of the bar. Monrovia officers, with the assistance of Arcadia and Sierra Madre Police Department arrived on scene. Numerous subjects dispersed spilling out onto neighboring streets. Due to the large crowd and subjects fighting each other, officers were unable to determine who was involved in the fight and no assault victims came forward. Officers were on scene for over 40 minutes. 
Grand Theft Auto 
On June 14 at 10:15 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of East Central regarding a vehicle theft. The victim stated he left his locked vehicle on the street. The vehicle was taken between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. The vehicle taken was a black, 1995 Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing. 
Grand Theft Auto 
On June 14 at 10:03 p.m., an officer was dispatched to 1100 block of South Alta Vista regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim last saw her white, 1997 Honda Accord, on June 13, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. She noticed it missing from in front of her house on June 14, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. There was no evidence of forced entry. The investigation is continuing. Stop

Highlighted Activity for June 4-7, 2015


Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested 
June 5 at 1:13 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of West Walnut when she stopped a motorist for failing to obey a traffic sign. A subsequent investigation revealed the motorist was intoxicated. The officer arrested the motorist and took him into custody. The motorist was held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 12:58 a.m., an officer was in the area of Lime and Primrose on patrol when he observed a subject stumbling. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The officer arrested the subject for public intoxication and took him into custody. The subject was held for sobering.
Injury Traffic Collision
June 5 at 4:35 a.m., an injury traffic collision was reported at Bradbury and Royal Oaks. A motorist was driving eastbound on Royal Oaks and struck a driver who was southbound on Bradbury, turning to eastbound Royal Oaks. Both drivers claimed the light was green in their direction. No independent witnesses could be located. Both vehicles sustained major damage and both drivers were checked for injury at the scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics. Both drivers declined to be taken to the
hospital for minor injuries that were sustained. The vehicles were towed.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 4:50 a.m., an off-duty officer observed a vehicle stopped at Evergreen and Myrtle that did not move as the traffic light cycled through, and the driver appeared to be asleep behind the wheel. When the officer knocked on the window, the driver awoke and drifted into the intersection, swerving. The driver struck a curb on the right side of the freeway on-ramp and continued driving onto the freeway.
The off-duty officer followed the driver onto the freeway and Monrovia and California Highway Patrol units responded to handle the incident. The vehicle then exited the freeway and drove west on Live Oak, where it was stopped by police. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and his vehicle was stored. A marijuana pipe and marijuana was also located inside the vehicle. The driver was held for sobering.
Traffic Offense / Evading a Peace Officer / Driving Without a License – Suspects Arrested
June 5 at 4:25 p.m., an officer responded to Mayflower and Hillcrest regarding speeding vehicles. While he was speaking with the reporting party, two young men on minibikes drove by on the street. They were on vehicles that were not properly equipped for public streets. The resident told him that these young men ride the minibikes on the street frequently. The officer followed and attempted to stop them by activating his red light and siren. The subjects looked back at the officer and increased their speed, failing to yield. The officer was able to get the subjects to stop after a brief pursuit. One rider was a licensed adult and the other was an unlicensed seventeen-year-old subject. They were arrested for the above listed violations. The minibikes were stored as evidence.
No-bail Warrants – Suspect Arrested
June 5 at 5:20 p.m., an officer was in the area of Huntington and Buena Vista on patrol, when he observed a male subject that he knew had an outstanding no-bail warrant for his arrest. He was able to stop and detain the subject and confirmed he had two no-bail warrants. He was arrested without incident.
Critical Missing Adult – Subject Located
June 6 at 10:37 a.m., a 21-year-old female took her mother’s car from her residence in the 500 block of East Almond and drove away, even though she is unlicensed. Her mother was extremely concerned because of her daughter’s state of mind. She was entered into the law enforcement system as a critical missing person and law enforcement agencies were notified.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., detectives received a call from a California Highway Patrol officer advising that the missing female had been arrested for driving under the influence. She was arrested on Interstate 15, about an hour past Barstow. Her mother was notified that she was located, and she was removed from the missing person’s system.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision With Injuries – Suspect Arrested
June 6 at 5:19 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision in the 700 block of East Central. The male driver was westbound on Central and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street. The victim suffered head trauma and a broken rib. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. He will be charged for felony driving under the influence traffic collision with serious injury.
Grand Theft Auto
June 6 at 1:38 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 700 block of South Mayflower Avenue. The victim reported parking and securing her vehicle at approximately 1:30 a.m. She did not return to the vehicle until 1:30 p.m., when she found it was missing and called police. She does not know who took her vehicle and did not give anyone permission to drive her car. The vehicle stolen is a blue/green, 1994 Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 22 at 1:10 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Mountain and Huntington when he stopped a motorist for unsafe speed. Investigation revealed the motorist was intoxicated. The officer arrested the motorist for driving under the influence and he was held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
May 22 at 3:00 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist in the area of Peck and Live Oak for driving without lights during darkness. The motorist was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. She was taken into custody, and during the booking process, a clear plastic baggie of methamphetamine was located in her purse. She was additionally charged for possession of a controlled substance.
Driving Under the Influence of Drugs / Warrant / Voluntary Missing Adult Located – Suspect Arrested
May 22 at 1:00 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Lime on the report of a missing person. The missing subject was given permission to use his nephew’s car to go to the unemployment office in Pasadena on May 20. He had not returned and could not be reached by phone. The reporting party did not desire to report his vehicle stolen, but just wanted to make sure his uncle was okay. The uncle was entered into the law enforcement missing persons system.
On May 25 at 3:06 a.m., and officer stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation. The investigation determined the driver was under the influence of narcotics and he was arrested for DUI. A computer check revealed the suspect had been reported missing to the Monrovia Police Department on May 22 and that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The suspect was removed from the missing persons system and the warrant was added to his charges.
Suspicious Circumstances / Possible Scam
May 22 at 3:49 p.m., a resident in the 1700 block of Leafwood called police to report a suspicious person. A male subject contacted the resident at their door and stated he was with Edison. He told the resident that money was due on their account. He did not have any identification and was holding an iPad. When the resident told him they had solar power and did not owe any money, the subject left immediately. Officers responded and searched the area to contact the subject, but were unable to locate him. The subject is described as an adult, male Asian.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
May 23 at 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Sixth and Duarte regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The reporting party witnessed a vehicle collide into a lamp pole and flee the area, heading south on Sixth Avenue. The vehicles front bumper and license plate were left at the scene. Officers located the vehicle at Sixth and Wisteria, unoccupied. A search of the area for the driver was unsuccessful. The vehicle was stored as evidence. The pole sustained minimal damage. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Hit and Run Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
May 23 at 8:13 a.m., a witness called police to report he had observed a vehicle strike a parked car near Magnolia and Duarte Road, and then continue on Duarte Road. The witness said the vehicle was swerving and the driver pulled into a business parking lot. Officers arrived and told the driver to put the car in park and exit the vehicle. The driver could not get the car in park and almost backed into the police vehicle. He eventually parked and exited, almost falling. The driver was determined to be under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs. He was arrested for DUI and for the hit and run accident. He was held for sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
May 23 at 3:27 p.m., and officer on patrol observed a driver acting suspiciously and attempting to hide near a drive through in the 700 block of East Huntington. With probably cause, the officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver. He discovered the driver had a suspended license. Additional investigation revealed the license plate on the vehicle was not issued to that vehicle. There were no licensed drivers in the vehicle. One female occupant was determined to have a $150,000 outstanding warrant for assault, as well as a minor warrant for unlicensed driver. She was arrested for the warrants. The vehicle was stored for the display of a false license plate and for the suspended license violations.

Highlighted Activity for May 7-10, 2015

Felony Fraud – Suspect Arrested
May 7 at 12:28 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of West  Huntington regarding a suspect attempting to commit fraud. A male suspect entered a department store in the 500 block of West Huntington and opened a line of store credit using someone else's personal information, not his own. He had created a California DMV computer printout showing the fraudulent information. He then attempted to purchase store merchandise with the credit he had just fraudulently obtained; however, he was stopped by officers while in the act. The suspect was arrested for fraud and taken into custody.
Grand Theft Auto
May 7 at 1:30 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 600 block of West Hillcrest.  The victim parked his gray, 1990 Nissan pickup, but did not lock the doors. He left the key to the ignition in the center console, and then left the vehicle for approximately five minutes. When he returned to his truck, it was gone. Officers searched the area for the truck, but were unable to locate it. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
May 8 at 6:30 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1400 block of South Mountain. The female victim walked outside to her car, which was parked on the street, and discovered the rear window was shattered. Clothing items and shoes that were in the rear hatch area of her car were stolen from the vehicle. She did not see anyone around her vehicle or in the area when she discovered the theft. She said she had parked the vehicle there the night before at 9:00 p.m. and had locked the doors. The
investigation is continuing.
Fight in Progress/Assault
May 8 at 8:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Lemon on the report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they found a male juvenile on the ground with swelling to his jaw and a laceration to his ear. The victim had apparently lost consciousness for a moment. The victim's father arrived on scene as the subject was being taken to the hospital by ambulance. The victim was treated at the hospital and released in stable condition. Through investigation, it was learned that this incident carried over from words being exchanged earlier in the day between the two subjects at
school. The suspect is known to the victim by name. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 9 at 2:20 a.m., officers on patrol observed a motorist exceeding the posted speed limit at Myrtle and Longden. They conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and discovered the driver to be intoxicated. The officer arrested the driver for DUI and took him into custody. He was held for sobering.
Grand Theft Auto
May 9 at 7:30 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Stedman. The victim had parked and locked his vehicle in his driveway at approximately 11:30 p.m. When he returned to the vehicle in the morning, it was gone. The vehicle is a tan, 1985, Toyota pickup. The investigation is continuing.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
May 9 at 5:27 p.m., a driver was traveling west on Duarte Road in a construction area near Walker. She became confused by the cones and altered lane she was supposed to use. There was an open portion of road surface that was not yet completed. The driver drove her vehicle into the open portion of the street, causing minor damage to her vehicle. She was not injured. A tow truck had to remove her car from the opening, but she was able to drive her car away.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
May 10 at 2:07 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Primrose & Lemon when he saw a person on the street, staggering and showing signs of intoxication. The officer contacted the subject and confirmed he was, in fact, too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The officer arrested the subject for being drunk in public. The subject was held for sobering.
Grand Theft Bicycle – Suspect Arrested
May 10 at approximately 11:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of West Foothill regarding the theft of a bicycle. The officers located a male suspect riding the bicycle in the 800 block of West Walnut. He was stopped and arrested for grand theft.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 24 at 3:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Linwood and Magnolia regarding a male subject that was possibly intoxicated and was staggering on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, the officer found the subject seated and leaning up against a parked vehicle. The officer determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own personal safety. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 12:27 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 700 block of East Lemon saw a suspicious subject loitering at a park after hours. The officer contacted the subject and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer arrested the subject for the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 2:52 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Myrtle and Longden when she observed a motorist exceeding the posted speed limit. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and determined the driver to be intoxicated. The officer arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The driver was later released on a citation after sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 4:37 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers stopped a vehicle in a shopping center parking lot in the 700 block of West Huntington for a vehicle code violation. A computer check of the driver revealed he had a warrant for his arrest and was driving without a license. The warrant was for a criminal case against the driver that was initiated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

April 25 at 8:04 p.m., an officer conducted a warrant service at a location in the 200 block of Valle Vista. The officer located the suspect at the location and arrested him per the authority of the warrant. The suspect was taken into custody and remained housed pending his court appearance date.

April 25 at 8:51 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of East Altern when he saw a male subject in a driveway and recognized him from prior contacts. The officer knew the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He made contact with the suspect and confirmed the warrant. He arrested the suspect per the authority of the warrant.
Weapons Offense/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 12:19 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of North Norumbega regarding the report of a suspicious subject in the area. The officer located the subject and detained him. During the course of the investigation, the officer found the subject to be in possession of a dagger and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested for the weapons offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 26 at 1:09 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of East Lemon when he stopped a subject on a bicycle for a vehicle code violation. Further investigation revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer arrested the suspect per the authority of the warrant.

April 26 at 1:53 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Peck and Live Oak stopped a motorist for lane straddling. Further investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, taken into custody and heldfor sobering.
Vandalism
April 26 at 1:32 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 700 block of West Olive.  Unknown suspect(s) shot a BB through a glass door window of a residence. A silver, 4-door, compact vehicle being driven by a female was seen slowing down in front of thevictim's home. Two or three shots from what is believed to be an Airsoft BB gun werefired at the residence. The suspect vehicle then fled toward Monterey. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collision with Property Damage
April 26 at 7:28 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Myrtle and Chestnut Avenue. A young female driver made a wide turn onto Myrtle and went onto the curb, striking the intersection control box. She destroyed the box and the intersection went dark. She was not injured. Signal maintenance was notified to respond to the location.
Vandalism
April 26 at 7:50 a.m., officers responded to Madison and Foothill on the report of a possible vehicle burglary. They arrived and located a vehicle with a shattered side window. Police located the registered owner and informed him of the damage. He said he had parked his vehicle the night before and the window was not shattered. Nothing was missing from the vehicle and it did not appear ransacked. The registered owner did not want to file a report for the damage.
Disturbing Subject/Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 12:12 p.m., a staff member from a motel in the 900 block of East Huntington called police to report a disturbing subject at the location who could not pay for a room. When police arrived, they encountered a male subject who was extremely intoxicated and uncooperative. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision with Injury – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 3:55 p.m., police responded to a hit and run traffic collision with possible injuries in the area of California and Duarte. Assisting officers were given a vehicle description and license plate for a possible suspect. They went to the address for the registered owner in Duarte and located the vehicle and suspect driver. The suspect was positively identified and arrested for felony hit and run. The victim complained of pain and had a laceration on her leg. She was treated on scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics.
Municipal Code Violation/Being in a Park After Posted Hours – Suspect Cited
April 27 at 2:26 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 700 block of East Lemon and noticed a subject sleeping in the park after the park was closed. The subject was issued a citation for being in the park after posted hours.

Highlighted Activity for April 9-12, 2015

Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 9 at 7:30 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Shamrock & Walnut when he stopped a motorist for traveling at an unsafe speed. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant issued by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. The officer arrested the suspect for the warrant and upon conducting an inventory search of the vehicle prior to storage, methamphetamine and a glass pipe was found. The additional charges were added.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 9 at 8:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a disturbing subject. Upon arrival, the officer determined the subject  was too intoxicated to care for her safety. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
April 10 at 1:31 p.m., officers were called to an apartment in the 800 block of West Olive on the report of a domestic violence incident which had just occurred between a male and female couple who live together. The male subject had left the location prior to police arrival.
Officers contacted the female subject and saw that she had visible injuries on her arms. The female victim stated that she and her boyfriend were arguing and he began hitting her. She ran into her bedroom, locked the door and attempted to call the police on her cell phone. The suspect gained entry to her room by punching a hole in the door and unlocking it. He grabbed and threw her cell phone, and then began hitting her again. He then left the location and she called police.
Officers called the suspect’s cell phone and convinced him to turn himself in at the Monrovia Police Station for questioning. After investigation of the entire incident, the male suspect was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Weapons Offense – Suspect Arrested
April 10 at 6:19 p.m., an officer was talking to a citizen in front of the police station when he saw a male subject with an open beer, walking west toward Myrtle. He detained the subject and during a pat down search, found a large kitchen knife concealed in his waistband. The suspect was determined to be a juvenile and under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and later released to a parent. When the suspect walked out of the police station, he ran from his parent. Officers searched for the juvenile, but he was not located.
Shoplifting Offense – Suspects Arrested
April 10 at 9:24 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 300 block of West Huntington regarding two suspects who had just committed a theft and fled the store. Officers located and detained the two male suspects. The investigation revealed the suspects selected and concealed over-the-counter cold medication and fled without paying for the merchandise. A computer check revealed both suspects also had outstanding warrants for their arrest. They were arrested and taken into custody.
72-Hour Mental Evaluation
April 11 at 12:28 a.m. in the early morning hours, police received a call reporting a suspect that had just committed a theft at a store in the 100 block of West Foothill. An officer responded and determined the suspect was the same juvenile arrested for the weapons offense earlier. After investigation, officers learned that the suspect had battered his sister and made statements that he wanted to stab someone. He was placed on a 72-hour mental evaluation hold. Criminal charges are pending.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 11 at 1:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Myrtle and Colorado. A witness saw a vehicle driving recklessly on the 210 Freeway. The suspect vehicle nearly rear ended the reporting parties vehicle and almost collided into the center divider of the freeway. The suspect vehicle exited at Myrtle, followed by the reporting party who contacted the police department. The vehicle was located parked at Myrtle and Colorado with a male subject behind the wheel and the engine running. The subject was determined to be intoxicated and driving under the influence. He was arrested and
held for sobering.
Vehicle Burglary
April 11 at 9:31 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of West Pomona. A work truck was broken into sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing. Commercial Burglary 
April 11 at 9:33 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 1300 block of South Mountain. A small glass window was broken out during the night behind a parked vehicle. Based on the initial inspection, there was no obvious property loss, and it is unknown if the suspect(s) actually entered the building. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication
April 11 at 2:17 p.m., an officer observed a subject walking with an alcoholic beverage. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was extremely intoxicated and was very agitated. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Assault on a Peace Officer Resulting in Injury – Suspect Arrested 
April 11 at 4:19 p.m., a business in the 400 block of West Foothill called police to report a disturbing subject who was throwing items in the store. The subject left the location and was heading west on Foothill. An officer located the subject several blocks away and attempted to detain him. He exited his car and told the subject to stop. The subject did not comply and yelled at the officer. An assisting officer arrived and the subject was detained. The subject said he did not know who he was and he continued to be verbally abusive and spit at the officers. The subject struggled with the officers as they took him into custody. One of the officers was injured during the struggle.
The subject continued to be verbally abusive and struggle while being transported in the patrol car. He slammed his forehead against the plastic divider several times, causing a cut to his forehead. Once at the station, he was examined by Fire Department personnel for his injury. The suspect continued to verbally assault police personnel and spit at them. He made vague, irrational threats about death and injuries to police and their families. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injury and was cleared and released for booking.
Residential Burglary
April 11 at 11:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residential burglary that occurred in the 100 block of East Foothill. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the home through a second story bedroom window, where the screen was cut. The victim left the window open to ventilate the room. Several items were taken and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 12 at 12:15 a.m., a citizen called police to report a drunk driver. The caller followed the driver from the 110 Freeway in Pasadena to the 100 block of Stedman. Officers located the vehicle and saw it pull over to the curb on Stedman. They contacted the driver and determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested and held for sobering.

Highlighted Activity for April 2-5, 2015

Public Intoxication / Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
April 3 at 3:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a hotel in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive on the report of a subject trespassing. This was the fifth encounter involving this same subject causing problems and trespassing at the location. Upon contacting the subject, the officer determined he was, in fact, trespassing and that the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested and held due to the likelihood of reoccurrence, pending his court appearance.
Injury Traffic Collision
April 3 at 8:08 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue. The drivers both claimed they had a green light entering the intersection and striking each other. There were no independent witnesses to the collision. At the time of the incident, both drivers stated that they were not injured, but later in the day, one of the drivers returned with her husband and stated she had begun to feel bad after the officer left. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic Collision
April 3 at 9:34 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Huntington and Primrose. The two vehicles collided when the driver on Primrose failed to yield to cross traffic at Huntington. No injuries were reported at the scene. The driver that failed to yield was cited for the collision.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 3 at 8:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Encinitas on the report of a man down. Upon arrival, the officer determined the person was intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.

April 4 at 1:19 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Foothill and Primrose when he observed a subject stumbling. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was extremely intoxicated and was not able to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 4 at 1:28 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Foothill and Acacia when he  bserved a subject stumbling. The officer contacted the subject and discovered the  erson was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The officer arrested the suspect for public intoxication and he was held for sobering.
Medical Assist
April 4 at 12:31 p.m., police responded to the report of a female subject passed out on a trail at Canyon Park, approximately a half mile from the waterfall. The officer arrived and found the woman was conscious and breathing. According to family members, she had grown dizzy and fainted after sitting down. She had no visible injuries. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
Driving Under the Influence / Public Intoxication – Suspects Arrested
April 4 at 18:27 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a gas station in the 1500 block of South Myrtle on the report of a male and female arguing inside of a vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located and the occupants were detained. Both subjects were determined to be intoxicated. The male driver was arrested for driving under the influence and the female subject was arrested for public intoxication. The subjects were held for a sobering period.
Incident Report – Vegetation Fire
April 4 at 11:17 p.m., Monrovia officers were handling a disturbance call at a residence in the 1100 block of Starlit Lane, where approximately 200 teenagers were causing a disturbance at the location. During this call, a small vegetation fire began on a property in the 300 block of Elfwood. One of the officers immediately contained the fire by using fire extinguishers until Fire Department personnel arrived and put the fire out completely. There was no structure or property damage reported, and no one was injured as a result of the fire. A blue truck with a camper shell was seen leaving the area
at about the same time the fire was discovered, but the vehicle was not located.
Commercial Burglary
April 5 at 7:13 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. Employees arrived for work and discovered the front window of the business had been smashed. A search of the business revealed the building had been ransacked, but no items were found to be missing. The investigation is continuing.
