Highlighted Activity for April 13-16, 2017


Residential Burglary
April 13 at 2:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of W. Hillcrest regarding a burglary. The location is vacant, but staged for sale. The property owner returned to the location and saw the rear glass door had been shattered. Nothing was stolen from inside the location, but it was evident the suspects had searched through the location for items. There was graffiti inside the location as well. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
April 13 at 3:38 p.m., an officer responded to the rear of a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington regarding a homeless person camping. One female adult was located inside a make shift shelter. While speaking to her, officers determined she was under the influence of methamphetamine. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
April 13 at 5:01 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of N. Alta Vista called police to report their home had been burglarized. The resident had returned home and found someone had kicked in his front door. Officers responded and searched the residence, but no suspects were located. Numerous items were taken from the home. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
April 14 at 12:08 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of W. Evergreen regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim walked outside to her vehicle and found a suspect inside rummaging through her belongings. She yelled at the suspect and he ran away. Officers conducted an area check, but did not find the suspect. The victim believes the suspect may have taken some of her mail from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
April 14 at 1:19 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of S. Myrtle when he observed a subject that was snorting a white substance off of a metal box. The officer
detained the subject and he admitted to snorting methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Vehicle Burglary
April 14 at 2:28 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of W. Duarte Road. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in the carport of her apartment complex, leaving her purse on the front seat. When she returned to the vehicle, she found a window had been smashed and her purse was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 4:47 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 1400 block of S. Shamrock conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. A computer check revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Battery / Elder Abuse – Suspect Arrested
April 14 at 8:56 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Fano on a battery report. The 21-year-old son woke up and began arguing with his father. He then began punching his father on the head. His grandmother walked into the room to see what was going on and he turned and wrapped his arm around her neck and began choking her. An Uncle had to intervene until police arrived. The suspect was arrested for battery and elder abuse.
Theft from a Vehicle
April 15 at 7:26 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1600 block of S. Mayflower. The victim parked her vehicle in her garage, but the vehicle was unlocked and the garage door was open throughout the night. She returned to her vehicle the next day and noticed property had been stolen from inside. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Delaying and Resisting a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
April 15 at 8:37 a.m., a caller reported a male subject driving a food truck erratically in a park in the 700 block of E. Lemon. Officers arrived and located a male subject walking south on Shamrock and determined he was, in fact, the driver of the vehicle. The subject displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and he fled on foot from officers across the street and entered a church. Officers detained the suspect and he was arrested. The suspect was held for a sobering period.
Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales – Suspect Arrested
April 17 at 1:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Mountain and Valley View regarding a subject smoking marijuana in a vehicle. The investigation led the officers to conduct a vehicle search and a large quantity of drugs were located in addition to packaging material and a scale. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity April 10-12, 2017

Warrant / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
April 10 at 7:15 a.m., a disturbing subject was reported at a residence in the 200 block of W. Palm. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who was found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested and during the booking process, narcotics were located in his possession. The subject was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Grand Theft Auto
April 10 at 3:27 p.m., a pop-up trailer was reported stolen from the 900 block of S. Primrose. The trailer was being stored on the property and it was stolen sometime over the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
April 11 at 12:19 a.m., police dispatch received several calls reporting a disturbance between a male and female at a residence in the 100 block of E. Scenic. Officers arrived and the male subject walked away from them. When the officers attempted to detain him, he fled and ran through several yards. The subject was detained at Greystone and Canyon. He was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Suspicious Subject / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
April 11 at 7:07 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of E. Colorado called police to report a subject sleeping on an air mattress in the carport of her apartment complex. Officers arrived and contacted the subject. The investigation revealed the subject had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. While the officers were attempting to take the suspect into custody, he resisted by tensing his arms and trying to pull away from their grasp. He was arrested and taken into custody without injury. The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Possession of Narcotics – Suspect Arrested
April 12 at 12:31 a.m., officers responded to the report of suspicious subjects walking
around with flashlights in the 1200 block of S. Fifth Avenue. Officers arrived and
contacted a male subject who was standing near some bushes. The subject was acting
suspicious so officers checked the area where he was standing and located a baggie
containing methamphetamine. The subject was arrested for possession of narcotics.
Vehicle Burglary
April 12 at 6:55 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 300 block of N. Mountain.
The victim parked and locked her vehicle in front of her residence and went inside for
the night. She returned the next day and saw several items had been taken from her
vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
April 12 at 9:12 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of E. Olive reported that sometime
during the night someone vandalized his garage with graffiti. The investigation is
continuing.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect
Arrested
April 13 at 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Diamond regarding a
driver who hit some parked cars and fled the scene. Officers arrived and stopped the
vehicle. The investigation determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was
arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for November 7-9, 2016

Domestic Violence / Battery – Suspect Arrested
November 7 at 6:19 p.m., a female subject came to the police station to report an incident of domestic violence. The subject and a female friend went to a residence in the 100 block of E. Central to serve her ex-boyfriend with a restraining order. When the friend approached the ex-boyfriend, he punched her in the face. He then threw a water bottle at the other female, striking her in the neck. Officers responded to the location and interviewed the suspect; he was arrested without further incident.
Possession of Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 8 at 8:19 a.m., a male subject was reported smoking marijuana on a public bench in the 100 block of W. Palm. Officers arrived and located the subject. The officer asked the subject if he had any contraband on his person and the subject admitted to having methamphetamine on him. The subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody.
Injury Traffic Collision
November 8 at 2:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a traffic collision in the 300 block of W. Huntington involving two vehicles. One of the drivers complained of pain and Monrovia Fire paramedics responded to treat the driver at the scene.
Domestic Violence Investigation – Suspect Arrested
November 8 at 7:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Hurstview regarding the report of a male and female subject involved in a physical altercation. The male subject had some minor injuries and the female was determined to be the primary aggressor. The female adult was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
November 9 at 9:21 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked his vehicle and went inside a restaurant to eat. When he returned, he saw a window on his vehicle had been smashed and a backpack and Ipod had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Robbery
November 10 at 12:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery in the 1700 block of Alamitas. The victims had just returned from dinner and were sitting in a vehicle at the location. They were robbed at gunpoint by three suspects. The suspects were described as three male Blacks wearing ski masks that left the area in a white SUV. The loss was two cell phones and cash. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
November 10 at 2:13 a.m., officers were checking the area of Foothill and Stedman for a suspicious subject that was seen looking into parked vehicles. A subject was located and was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe and syringes. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Highlighted Activity for October 31 – November 2, 2016


Grand Theft Auto
October 31 at 3:08 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 3300 block of S. Peck Road. The vehicle stolen is a 1990's Honda Civic. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
November 1 at 7:45 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of East Pomona called police to report a theft. The catalytic converter was stolen off his 2005 Toyota Camry. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence in the evening. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning and started his car, he heard a loud and unusual engine noise coming from his vehicle. He checked and discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales / Weapon Offense – Suspects Arrested
November 1 at 9:47 a.m., an officer conducted a probation compliance search on a female subject that was staying in a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington. A male subject was also staying in the hotel room. During the search of the room, the officers located a loaded firearm, almost two pounds of methamphetamine, a vial of PCP, over $2000 in cash, and drug sales paraphernalia. The male subject was determined to be an ex-felon who was currently out on bail for a Monrovia Police Department drug sales case. The officer arrested both subjects for possession for sales of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and several other weapon and drug related charges. Both subjects were held pending their court appearance.
Fraud / Possession of Counterfeit Currency – Suspect Arrested
November 1 at 4:54 p.m., a bank in the 500 block of S. Myrtle called police to report a fraud incident. A male suspect went into the bank and attempted to cash a fraudulent business check for $7000. Officers were dispatched to the bank and they detained the suspect. The officer arrested the suspect for attempting to pass a fraudulent check. The officer searched the suspect after arresting him and found a counterfeit $20 bill in his wallet. The suspect was also charged with possession of counterfeit currency.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 2:55 a.m., an officer on patrol contacted two suspicious subjects loitering near closed businesses in the 1800 block of Santa Fe Place. A consent search of one of the subjects revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:00 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of W. Colorado when they observed a male and female subject in a vehicle. The officer recognized the male passenger and knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer stopped the vehicle and the male passenger fled on foot from the vehicle, leaving the female behind. The officer broadcast the information on his location and the fleeing suspect. He then contacted the female, who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and possible stolen property. She was arrested for the charges. The male subject was not located.
Vehicle Burglary
November 2 at 9:10 a.m., officers responded to a hotel in the 900 block of W. Huntington Drive on the report of a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and secured his vehicle in the parking lot on November 1. When he returned to his vehicle the next day, he saw the rear hatch door had been pried open and the third-row seat had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:25 a.m., police located a stolen vehicle in the area of Myrtle and Chestnut and stopped the vehicle at Huntington and Mayflower. The driver was found to be a parolee at large. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspects Arrested
November 2 at 3:25 p.m., a petty theft was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. A male and female entered the business and concealed items on their person while inside the store. They both exited the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention personnel stopped and detained them. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 6:39 p.m., employees at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain saw a subject exit the rear security doors of the store and throw a drill over a wall. The subject eventually exited the store, recovered the drill and walked away from the location. Officers located the suspect one block away and recovered the stolen power drill. The suspect was positively identified by the witnesses and was arrested.
Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 8:48 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a male adult for traffic violations. The driver had a loaded pistol in his waistband. He stated that he was a security guard, but he did not have a permit to carry a loaded firearm. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:36 p.m., a possible drunk driver was reported at Myrtle and Camino Real. Officers responded and located the vehicle traveling north on Myrtle at Central. They saw the driver crash into the center divider. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics responded and the driver was taken to the hospital. After the driver was medically cleared, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
Battery
November 2 at 10:40 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of E. Cherry regarding several neighbors fighting in the alley. After interviewing the involved parties, the victim made a citizen's arrest of the suspect. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 11:38 p.m., while conducting extra patrol in the 100 block of W. Cherry, officers located a subject inside a parked car. The male adult is a known drug addict and told officers he had syringes in his possession. A search of the subject revealed baggies of methamphetamine and heroin. The suspect was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody for the drug charges.
Driving Under the Influence / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
November 3 at 4:02 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle saw a vehicle drive off the freeway and strike the center divider as he attempted to turn onto Myrtle. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. The passenger would not cooperate with the officer and refused to exit the vehicle; he was arrested for resisting/delaying an investigation. The driver was arrested for DUI and unsafe turning movement. The passenger was arrested for delaying an investigation.

Highlighted Activity for December 3-6, 2015


Grand Theft Auto
December 3 at 6:33 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 600 block of West Lemon Avenue. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence the night before. He returned to the vehicle in the morning and discovered it was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Found Property
December 4 at 8:59 p.m., an officer on patrol found several pieces of mail laying in the street in the area of Oakglade and Ridgeside. The mail belonged to two addresses in the area. There have been several recent cases reporting mail tampering in Monrovia that have been reported to the United States Postal Inspector. The investigation is continuing.
Warrants/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
December 5 at 6:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a possible theft that just occurred. The subject fled the store followed by a loss prevention officer. Officers arrived and located the suspect, but no theft could be substantiated. An identification check, however, revealed the subject had over $400,000 in outstanding warrants for his arrest. During a pat-down search, a baggie of cocaine was found on his person. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
December 5 at 11:47 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 900 block of West Foothill. A driver was traveling east on Foothill and reported that he veered for a pedestrian and struck a parked vehicle. The pedestrian could not be located, and the investigation revealed the driver was unlicensed and uninsured. The suspect was issued a citation for driving without a license, unsafe turning movement and not having insurance. His vehicle was impounded.
Warrants/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
December 6 at 12:44 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue for a traffic violation. The investigation revealed the passenger had outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. She was later released to the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on the warrants.
Vehicle Burglary Investigation
December 6 at 8:47 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of Mauna Loa. The victim parked his vehicle on the street. Sometime overnight an unknown suspect entered the vehicle by smashing the right front passenger window. The suspect then reached through the window and removed the victim's nylon bag, which contained books and miscellaneous papers. The investigation is continuing.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision/Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
December 6 at 2:13 p.m., officers responded to a non-injury traffic collision in the 500 block of Duarte Road and discovered one of the drivers involved in the collision was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under influence and was taken into custody. The suspect was held for sobering and later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Structure Fire
December 6 at 7:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to a structure fire in the 200 block of West Palm. The investigation revealed the tenants had plugged in too many Christmas decorations into one outlet, which caused an electrical fire. The structure sustained extensive damage and is uninhabitable.
Petty Theft of Christmas Decorations
December 6 at 7:48 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of West Greystone Avenue reported that Christmas decorations displayed on her lawn were stolen. A witness described the suspect as a thin male subject in a dark colored Acura Integra, but had no further description. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 12-14, 2015


Warrant Arrest
October 13 at 12:35 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 500 block of West Huntington when he saw a male adult subject to the rear of a closed business digging in the trash. He stopped and contacted the subject. A computer check revealed three warrants for the subject’s arrest, with the highest bail set at $40,000 for a drug charge. The warrants were confirmed and the subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
October 13 at 7:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Santa Anita Wash at the railroad tracks on the report of two suspicious males loitering in the area. When officers arrived, they contacted two homeless adult male subjects. During a pat-down search for the officer's safety, a syringe and methamphetamine was found on one of the subjects and a pipe for smoking methamphetamine was found on the other. Both subjects were arrested and taken into custody.
Warrant/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
October 15 at 2:17 a.m., an officer responded to a business parking lot in the 1600 block of Mountain on the report of a suspicious male subject walking through the parking lot, picking up discarded receipts, as well as digging them out of the trash. Officers arrived and located the subject, who was in possession of several receipts printed from the business that day, possibly to fraudulently claim he was returning an item with a receipt. A computer check revealed a warrant for the subject’s arrest; he was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect attempted to hide methamphetamine in the backseat of the police car. The suspect was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Driving Under the Influence/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
October 15 at 2:46 a.m., an occupied suspicious vehicle was reported in the 600 block of North Canyon with its engine running. Officers arrived and found a male and female sitting in the car. The female appeared to be trying to hide something under her seat when the officers approached the vehicle. The driver had a pipe for smoking methamphetamine sitting next to him and was showing signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both occupants were removed from the vehicle and field sobriety tests were conducted on the driver. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. A search of the vehicle revealed a syringe that the female was attempting to hide, as well as burglary tools. The female subject was also arrested and both were taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for October 1-4, 2015


Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 1 at 11:23 p.m., an officer detained a suspect in the 600 block of Shamrock for being in a park after closing hours. The investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation.
Stolen Vehicle
October 2 at 3:51 a.m., dispatch received a report of a stolen vehicle from a victim in the 200 block of West Cherry. The victim parked her vehicle in her driveway at 2:00 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle at 3:50 a.m., she discovered it missing. The vehicle is a 2000, red, four-door, Honda Civic. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 2 at 7:39 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of May Avenue regarding an alarm activation at a home. The residents left the home at 5:30 p.m. Officers determined forced entry was made through the kitchen side door, but nothing was found missing from inside the residence. Neighbors were contacted, but no one witnessed or heard anything unusual. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 2 at 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Ridgeside Drive regarding a burglary. The resident left the home at 11:00 a.m. When she returned home at 8:30 p.m., she found her bedroom and bathroom had been ransacked. It appears forced entry was made through the kitchen side door. Nothing was found to be missing from the residence. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 1:28 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of South Myrtle when he observed an unconscious male subject on the sidewalk near a parked vehicle. The subject was extremely intoxicated and determined unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 2:49 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Peck and Live Oak for a vehicle code violation. The investigation revealed the subject was driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Grand Theft Bicycle
October 4 at 1:35 a.m., a bicycle theft in progress was reported in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. The investigation led officers to an apartment complex near 3rd and Genoa in the City of Arcadia. The bicycle was recovered, but the suspect has not been identified. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
October 4 at 6:26 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of North Ivy. An officer responded, but no evidence was located at the scene. At 1:37 p.m., the vehicle was recovered by deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Industry Station. A Monrovia officer responded to fingerprint the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle vs. Bicycle Traffic Collision
October 4 at 11:21 a.m., a vehicle verses bicycle collision was reported in the 600 block of Terrado. A 13-year-old bicyclist traveling west on Sombrero turned onto northbound Terrado and collided with a vehicle traveling south on Terrado. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet, which prevented him from sustaining major injuries. He was taken to a hospital due to complaint of pain in his legs and chest.
Vehicle Burglary
October 4 at 11:45 a.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of California regarding a vehicle burglary. The suspect entered a locked vehicle and took an iPod, CD's and a charger. The investigation is continuing.

October 4 at 11:51 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Royal Oaks. An officer responded and determined that the suspect forced open the door and entered the locked vehicle. The suspect took miscellaneous tools. The investigation is continuing.
