Highlighted Activity for March 20-22, 2017

Grand Theft
March 20 at 11:26 a.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington. Two male suspects entered the business and stole frames for sunglasses. One suspect selected several pairs of frames while the other distracted the employees. The suspect concealed the frames on his person and both suspects left the location. The investigation is continuing.
Battery on a Police Officer – Suspect Arrested
March 20 at 2:05 p.m., police received a call reporting a female subject hitting a male subject at a residence in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle. An officer arrived and detained the female subject. While the officers were detaining her, she kicked one of the officers in the leg. The female was arrested for battery on a police officer. The investigation revealed the female had repeatedly punched the male subject, but he did not desire prosecution. The female subject was making delusional statements and said she wanted to kill herself. She was placed on a mental evaluation hold and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Criminal Threats – Suspect Arrested
March 20 at 2:48 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of W. Huntington called to report her ex-husband showed up at her home, exhibited what she thought was a firearm and told her he was going to kill her. Officers arrived on scene and detained the ex-husband pending further investigation. He was in possession of a folding knife that had the appearance of a small handgun. The ex-husband was arrested for criminal threats and was held pending his court date.
Grand Theft
March 20 at 4:55 p.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 700 block of E. Huntington. The victim reported that while she was at the business, someone stole her laptop from her unlocked vehicle. She did not see anyone. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 21 at 6:51 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of E. Olive. The
victim parked and locked her vehicle in front of her residence and went inside for the
night. She returned to her vehicle the next day to find her driver-side window was pried
open and items were taken from the back seat. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 21 at 2:53 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Olive regarding
a male subject who was mumbling to himself and acting very strange. When officers
arrived, they saw the subject near the front of a business. Officers detained the subject
and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested
and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
March 21 at 6:50 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of W. Colorado.
The victim parked his vehicle and went to eat and then to a movie with a friend. When
they came out, the vehicle was gone. They came to the station to report the vehicle
stolen, another friend of his was driving around the area and saw the vehicle parked in
the 600 block of S. Myrtle. Officers looked at the vehicle. The victim said there was a
couple of work items missing from his vehicle. There were also two empty beer cans in
the vehicle which did not belong to the victim. The investigation is continuing.
Battery
March 22 at 2:23 a.m., the victim of a battery came to the police station to file a report.
The female victim was given a ride home from a male subject that she works with. They
were sitting in the vehicle in front of her residence talking when the male subject’s wife
pulled up and was apparently upset. She opened the front driver-side door and leaned
across the seat and attacked the female passenger, scratching her on the face, neck
and chest. The victim did not know the name of the wife. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 22 at 8:04 a.m., the victim parked and locked his vehicle in front of his residence
in the 200 block of W. Central and went inside for the night. He returned to his vehicle
the next day and saw several items had been taken from his vehicle. The investigation
is continuing.
Grand Thefts of Catalytic Converters
On March 22 in the morning, two thefts of catalytic converters were reported to police.
The thefts occurred overnight in the 1700 block of S. Mayflower and the 1600 block of
Radford. Both victim’s started their vehicles in the morning and heard a loud noise.
They both took their vehicles to a mechanic, only to learn the catalytic converters had
been removed from their vehicles. The investigations are continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / No-Bail Warrant / Identity Thfet – Suspect
Arrested
March 22 at 1:14 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of E. Huntington regarding
two subjects sitting inside a parked vehicle, possibly using drugs. Officers arrived and
spoke with the two subjects. One of the subjects had a juvenile no-bail warrant and was
arrested. A search of the subject incident to arrest revealed drug paraphernalia and
evidence of identity theft.
Grand Theft Auto
March 22 at 8:57 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of S.
Mountain. The victim parked his black, 2000 Honda Civic in a business parking lot and
went inside a business. When he returned to where he parked his vehicle, he
discovered it was gone. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for December 15-17, 2014

Injury Traffic Collision

December 16 at 4:06 a.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 700 block of East Huntington Drive. The female driver of the vehicle had just left work, fell asleep at the wheel and struck a power pole. She was not badly injured, but there were downed power lines. Southern California Edison was advised.

Attempt Theft From a Vehicle

December 16 at 5:40 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of West Lime heard noise to the front of her residence. She noticed a male subject dressed in dark clothing trying to get into her car. She called police, who arrived at the location and saw the suspect run north. Containment was set up, but the suspect was not located. The investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary

December 16 at 7:23 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of West Huntington. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window and took a black backpack with an iPad and an Apple Computer in it, as well as credit and identification cards. A credit card was used at a Walmart in Rosemead a short time later. The investigation is continuing.

Residential Burglary

December 16 at 1:47 p.m., police responded to the report of a residential burglary in the 100 block of North Madison. While the victim's were away, the home was broken into and ransacked. Point of entry was a sliding glass door that was smashed and items of jewelry were stolen. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for November 6-9, 2014

Battery on a Peace Officer / Delaying & Obstructing a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
On November 6 at 1:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Monrovista regarding a 16-year-old male who was refusing to go to school and causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, the juvenile refused to obey the officers’ commands and became combative with them. The subject pushed one of the officers and a struggle ensued. The other officer deployed the Taser. The juvenile was arrested and taken into custody without further incident. No one was injured.
Vehicle Burglary
On November 7 at 6:41 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of West Huntington. The vehicle was parked in a hotel parking lot and sometime during the night, the suspect(s) forced entry through the rear lift gate. The suspects took the third row seats, luggage, and camera lenses from the SUV. The investigation is continuing.
Fraud / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Five Suspects Arrested
On November 7 at 9:59 p.m., officers went to a motel in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding subjects occupying a motel room using possible fraudulent identification. The officers went to the room and contacted the subjects. They found five subjects inside, two of whom were attempting to hide possible contraband under the bed. Several of the subjects were in possession of false identification cards and had warrants for their arrest, and one subject was in possession of methamphetamine. The room was determined to be rented using false identification information.
Officers searched the room and found evidence of a credit card fraud/forgery operation, including over 100 modified, altered, and blank debit cards, credit cards, and gift cards,as well as an embossing machine, two credit card stripe readers, and machinery for effacing credit cards. The officers also found two vehicle titles with the information bleached out, drug paraphernalia, several computers, cell phones, and USB drives. All five suspects were arrested. During the booking process, officers discovered several of them had given false information regarding their identities; the additional offence was added to their charges.
Vandalism
On November 8, several incidents of vandalism were reported throughout the city. The suspect used black spray paint to write graffiti on homes, vehicles, walls, etc. The suspect has not yet been identified. The Special Enforcement Team officers have been notified. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Bicycle – Suspect Arrested
On November 8 at 2:30 p.m., police were alerted to a stolen bicycle taken from the area of Alta Vista and Huntington. The bicycle and suspect were located in the 100 block of West Cypress. The bicycle was recovered and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was taken into custody and housed pending his court appearance date.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On November 8 at 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business parking lot in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a hit and run traffic collision. The accident was minor, and the victim did not desire prosecution for the hit and run. An officer had located the suspect driving in the area of Huntington and Myrtle and stopped him. The driver was found to have two no-bail warrants and was arrested for the warrants only.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
On November 9 at 12:25 a.m., a citizen called police to report a male subject vandalizing their neighbor’s residence in the 200 block of Madeline. Officers responded to the area to search for the suspect. An extensive area search was conducted and the suspect was located. The witness positively identified the suspect. The reporting party will be contacted and informed of the Monrovia Police Departments Graffiti Bounty program; they will be rewarded with $100.00 for reporting this vandalism incident, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
Petty Theft
On November 9 at 7:23 p.m., a petty theft of a cell phone was reported at a business in the 100 block of West Foothill. The victim reported the suspect had just stolen her cell phone off a table inside of the business and fled the location, heading west towards Linwood and into an apartment complex. Officers arrived and searched the area, but were not able to locate the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
West San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Task Force Apprehends Suspect Wanted for Kidnapping and Rape
On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, members of the West San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Task Force apprehended suspect Benny Torres in East Los Angeles. Torres was wanted by the Monterey Park Police Department for kidnapping and rape. The Task Force, comprised of detectives from Pasadena, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, El Monte, Monterey Park, and Los Angeles County Probation, conducted an exhaustive week-long search for Torres. The Task Force observed Torres in East Los Angeles and he was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in custody on a
2.35 million dollar bail.

Highlighted Activity for October 16-19, 2014

Stolen Vehicle
On October 16 at 7:32 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen in the 400 block of Royal Oaks. The victim parked her 1985 Honda Accord in front of her residence at 6:15 a.m. She locked and secured the vehicle. When she went outside at 7:30 a.m., she found her vehicle was gone. The investigation is continuing.
Warrants - Suspect Arrested
On October 16 at 11:47 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 400 block of West Huntington regarding a subject causing a disturbance. The subject was located and was found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Monrovia Police Department; he was arrested taken into custody.
Grand Theft Auto / Vehicle Recovered
On October 17 at 12:33 p.m., a vehicle was stolen from the 900 block of West Foothill.  The victim is an elderly female who was attempting to park her vehicle in a handicap stall. She exited her vehicle to remove a cart that was blocking the stall. A male subject that was standing next to her vehicle eating ice cream jumped into the vehicle and drove away. Monrovia police responded along with the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter. An area check was made for the vehicle, but it was not located.
The vehicle was later recovered. It was found parked on a street in Pasadena. The victim's purse was recovered, but cash was taken. The suspect in this case is described as a male Hispanic, wearing a blue shirt, jeans, and carrying a black backpack. The suspect had some facial hair. The investigation is continuing.
Robbery
On October 17 at 11:22 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain regarding a theft that had just occurred. Loss prevention witnessed the suspect taking items without paying. When security confronted the suspect, he returned the property, but he refused to walk back to the office. The suspect then pulled out a pair of needle-nose pliers and advanced on the security officer. The security officer was able to push the suspect away. The suspect and a female subject then fled in a white Toyota Tacoma. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his 30's, shaved head
with tattoos. He was with a white female in her 30's. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia /
Exhibiting an Imitation Firearm / Driving on a Suspended License / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On October 17 at 6:31 p.m., a suspect motorist reportedly brandished a firearm at another motorist in the area of California and Hurstview. Police arrived and located the vehicle, and the suspect was detained. Investigation revealed the suspect brandished a BB gun at the victim in an incident of road rage. The suspect was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was driving on a suspended license and had three warrants. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On October 19 at 1:30 a.m., an officer was on patrol near the intersection of Chestnut and Alta Vista when he stopped a motorist for a traffic violation. The motorist was determined to be under the influence of alcohol; the driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Robbery / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On October 19 at 3:07 p.m., a business in the 500 block of West Huntington called to report a robbery that just occurred. A female suspect was attempting to hide items in her purse, return other items and pay for some items; she was detained by loss prevention. When she realized they were calling the police, she hit a store employee  who was trying to keep her from leaving and attempted to get away. An officer arrived and she was arrested. A used methamphetamine pipe was located in her purse, which was added to her charges.
Residential Burglary
On October 19 at 6:41 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 1600 block of South Mayflower. The victim left her residence earlier and returned to find the side door of her garage ajar and property taken. A bicycle and golf clubs were missing. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of September 4-7, 2014

Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On September 4 at 4:41 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a male suspect running out of a store with a stolen pair of shoes. An officer saw the suspect running and entering a yard in the 500 block of West Maple.
The officer gained a vantage point from a two story building near the location and was able to see the suspect hiding on a roof top. The Pasadena Air Support helicopter also spotted the suspect and directed officers to him. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and the stolen property was recovered.
Mountain Lion Sighting
On September 4 at 8:17 p.m., a resident in the 400 block of Norumbega called police to report seeing two small mountain lions, approximately 5 to 6 months old. The mountain lions went into some bushes and out of sight. An officer responded and checked the area, but was not able to locate the animals.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On September 5 at 2:28 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist near Fifth and Foothill for a traffic violation. The female driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol; she was arrested and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary / Grand Theft Auto
On September 6 at 9:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of West Walnut on the report of a residential burglary. The victim left her home at 7:30 a.m. and returned at approximately 9:30 p.m. to discover her vehicle was stolen from  The garage and her home had been ransacked. The victim reported cash and a video game station were stolen from inside the home. The suspect gained entry by smashing a rear window of the residence. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication / Open Container / Violation of City Ordinance – Suspect Arrested
On September 7 at 11:55 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of South Myrtle when he observed a female subject sleeping in the park after 10:00 p.m. when the park is closed. There was a sprinkler spraying her with water, but she was still asleep. The officer approached the female to see if she was alright. It took several attempts of nudging to wake her. There was an open and half empty bottle of alcohol in a backpack next to her. The female was determined to be drunk in public and was arrested for the violation, as well as for being in the park after closing and having alcohol in the park.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of August 28-September 3, 2014

72-Hour Mental Evaluation
August 28 at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 700 block of East Huntington regarding two male subjects fighting. Upon their arrival, they found one of the subjects involved was trying to restrain the other. One of the subjects appeared to have blood on him. Further investigation revealed the violent subject was a mentally ill son that was with his mother at the business. The son ran across the street to a
Halloween store where he got fake blood and started putting it on his face and head.
The other subject was trying to stop the son and he became violent and started to fight. The subject was taken to a hospital, where was held for a 72 Hour mental evaluation.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On August 28 at 4:37 p.m., dispatch received a call from the victim of a traffic collision, stating he was just rear ended by another driver at Huntington and Magnolia. When the other party exited his vehicle, the victim could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver went back inside his vehicle and fled the scene. The victim followed the vehicle until an officer arrived and stopped the vehicle at Baldwin in Arcadia. After further investigation, the driver was arrested for hit and run and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Shoplifting / No-Bail Warrants
On August 28 at 10:18 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain regarding a female who had been denied a merchandise return and had concealed merchandise on her person. She was detained and was found to have two no-bail warrants for possession of stolen property. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Vandalism / Graffiti Bounty Awarded to Witness – Suspect Arrested
On August 28 at 11:59 p.m., a witness called police to report two male subjects, about 16 to 18 years old, vandalizing the stop sign on the northwest corner of Lime and Jasmine. Officers arrived and detained the two subjects. They were positively identified by the witness and arrested; they were later released to their parents. The witness who reported the crime that led to the arrest of the suspects received $100.00 from the
Police Department’s Stop Graffiti Bounty Program for reporting the crime.
Utility Problem
On August 29 at 12:25 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Los Angeles regarding possible downed wires. A short time later, numerous signals on Huntington and Foothill from Shamrock to Fifth started going out. The power also went out in several residential areas. The power continued to go out throughout the afternoon. Edison sent out crews and eventually fixed the problem.
Criminal Threats – Suspect Arrested
On August 29 at 5:41 p.m., a female victim and her friend ran into the police lobby stating her ex-boyfriend was following her and threatened to kill her and others. When officers ran out to the lobby, the suspect fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed. He drove northbound on Ivy and failed to stop for two stop signs. The Foothill Air Support helicopter was called for assistance. An officer located the suspect vehicle in the area of
Foothill and Mountain, and conducted a high-risk stop.
Further investigation revealed the victim had a restraining order against the boyfriend because he threatened to kill her prior to this incident. The suspect was taken into custody for criminal threats.
Theft From a Vehicle
On September 2 at 2:27 a.m., police received a call from a witness reporting two male subjects running from a vehicle in the 600 block of West Colorado. The vehicle had its doors and trunk open and the subjects were wearing masks. The witness gave a suspect vehicle description, a white Chevrolet Cavalier, but the vehicle was not located. Officers conducted an area search and contacted the witness and then the victim. A few items were missing from the interior of the vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekdays of July 28-30, 2014

Possession of Stolen Property / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrants
/ Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor – Suspects Arrested
On July 29 at 9:27 a.m., while on patrol in the 900 block of East Huntington, officers observed a suspicious vehicle that had indicators of being stolen. The car was parked in a motel parking lot. Through investigation, officers learned the car belonged to a subject in one of the motel rooms. The officers made contact with several subjects in the room, including one minor, and several arrests were made.
The owner of the vehicle in the parking lot, a male adult, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Two female adults were arrested for warrants, possession of stolen property, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The minor was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was taken into protective custody.
Stolen Vehicle
On July 29 at 6:48 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of West Huntington. The victim parked his vehicle in a business parking lot and went into work. When he returned to his vehicle after work, it was gone. He said he did not lock his vehicle and he does not know who would take the vehicle. The vehicle is a black, 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The investigation is continuing.
Bear Incident
On July 30 at 1:32 p.m., police received three calls from residents in the 500 block of Terrado Drive, 500 block of Sombrero Road, and the 600 block of Vaquero Road reporting a bear in their yards. The bear was moving from yard to yard and jumping in pools in the area. For safety reasons, officers asked the people to leave the area and the bear eventually retreated back into the foothills.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
On July 30 at 8:56 a.m., police received a call reporting a possible stolen vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 800 block of East Olive. There was a screw driver outside the vehicle and items from inside were strewn on the ground around the vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen from Hacienda Heights. The vehicle was recovered.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On July 31 at 4:02 a.m., a resident from the 400 block of Monrovista called police to report a male subject yelling in his backyard. The subject was yelling that someone was trying to kill him. He kept repeating this and then attempted to get into the resident’s backdoor. Officers responded and located the subject. After investigation, it was determined the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was
arrested and taken into custody.

Tip of the Week

Vehicle Burglary Prevention
Thieves look for easy and inviting targets when it comes to selecting a vehicle to burglarize or steal from. It is up to you to make every effort to prevent your car from being targeted. Here are some basic tips that will make your vehicle a little less inviting to a thief:
•LOCK your car!
•Always park in well-lighted areas.
•Install motion lights in your driveway.
•Install and use a vehicle alarm.
•DO NOT leave valuables in plain view.
•Leave all items of value at home if possible.
•Look around when you park.
Notice anyone or anything suspicious? Write down license plates and descriptions. Alert on-site security or staff and CALL the police. Many auto burglaries or thefts from cars occur right in a residential driveway and too often it is because the vehicle was never locked.
Suspects will often target cars that are left unlocked, walking up and down a street trying car doors all the way. Take the time to secure your vehicle. These are just a few tips to help prevent you from becoming a
victim of auto burglary. Be proactive, look around, and most importantly, don't hesitate to call the police if you see something or someone suspicious.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 10-13, 2014

Attempt Grand Theft Auto
July 10 at 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Lemon regarding an attempt grand theft auto. The victim parked her vehicle outside her garage off a rear alley. She left the vehicle unlocked with the window open and walked away for approximately 15 minutes. When she returned to the vehicle, she found the door open and the ignition had been punched. No suspects were seen or heard. The investigation
is continuing.
Mental Evaluation
July 12 at 2:16 a.m., a female subject walked into the police lobby carrying a knife and tried to open one of the lobby doors. Officers approached the door and ordered her to place the knife down on the bench; she complied. They tried to speak to her, but she ran out of the lobby screaming. She was quickly detained and was determined to be a danger to herself and others. She was taken to a hospital, where she was held for a 72- hour mental evaluation.
Stolen Vehicles Recovered / False Information to a Peace Officer – Suspects Arrested
July 13 at 7:19 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers were on patrol in the 1200 block of Encino when they saw a suspicious vehicle pull into a residence and saw a known gang member exit the vehicle and run into an open garage. Officers stopped and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. Further investigation revealed a second stolen vehicle on the property. Several subjects were detained and additional units responded. The subject that exited the vehicle was located. Property was located inside the second stolen vehicle that belonged to one of the other subjects on scene. A third subject gave false information to the officers. A total of three subjects were arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
July 13 at 8:29 p.m., a vehicle driving in the area of El Dorado and 2nd Avenue drove by a Monrovia patrol car at a high rate of speed. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Vandalism
July 13 at 9:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 900 block of West Huntington. A female subject received a phone call from her ex-boyfriend while she was at work and she hung up on him when she recognized his voice. The female has a restraining order against the ex-boyfriend. He then phoned back and asked for her again and a second employee told him she was unavailable. The victim went out to her vehicle later in the evening and found her tires had been slashed and something had been poured into her gas tank. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
July 13 at 2:17 a.m., officers on patrol came across a parked vehicle that was missing one front tire and the other was flat. The driver was slumped behind the wheel and the vehicle was running. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekdays of July 7-9, 2014

Vandalism
July 7 at 7:51 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the high school in the 800 block of West Colorado on the report of vandalism. Campus security arrived in the morning after the 4th of July weekend and discovered someone had written graffiti on the auto shop building. The investigation is continuing.
Attempt Grand Theft Auto / Vehicle Burglary
July 7 at 11:10 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of North Lincoln called police to report that someone had attempted to take his vehicle. The victim parked his vehicle on the street and secured it on July 3. When he returned to his vehicle on July 7, he discovered the driver side door lock was punched. The suspect tore the steering column apart, attempting to take the vehicle, but it appears they couldn't start it. The
suspects took some welding books from inside the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Honey Oil – Suspect Arrested
July 7 at 3:24 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 100 block of West Greystone came upon a vehicle with the door left open. When he stopped and looked inside, he saw approximately 50 butane bottles and a pipe with possible honey oil on it. The driver of the vehicle could not be located and the vehicle was registered out of town. Due to the extreme hot weather and the butane bottles sitting in the sun, the Monrovia Fire
Department was requested and responded to the scene. A resident from the 300 block of Stedman told officers the vehicle belonged to his son's friend, who was inside the house. The 19-year-old suspect was located and arrested for manufacturing honey oil.
Vehicle Tampering – Suspects Arrested
July 7 at 12:21 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of Fowler Drive saw two male subjects lift the door handle to his vehicle, checking to see if the door was unlocked. He chased the suspects, but wasn't able to keep up. A few minutes later, a security officer from an alarm company who was patrolling the 700 block of West Foothill saw the two males running. He called the police and then detained the suspects, who cooperated. The victim arrived just as officers arrived and placed the two under private persons arrest for vehicle tampering. The suspects were taken into custody.
Strong-arm Robbery – Suspect Arrested
July 9 at 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a business parking lot at Foothill and Myrtle regarding a robbery. Two male adults who knew each other began arguing in the shopping center parking lot. One of the subjects took the other subjects headphones and then demanded the subject’s wrist watch. The victim did not attempt to recover the headphones out of fear for his safety and attempted to walk away; however, the suspect wanted the watch and began hitting the victim, attempting to remove it from the victim's wrist. A bystander broke up the fight and the suspect fled in a vehicle with the victim's headphones. The victim was able to identify the suspect, and he was located and apprehended by police, as the vehicle was still in the area.

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Resisting Arrest Causing Injury –
Suspect Arrested
On June 9 at 9:34 a.m., officers responded to Myrtle and Huntington regarding a male subject walking in and out of traffic. Officers arrived and located the subject, who was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. When officers attempted to arrest him, he pulled away and a struggle ensued. The suspect was taken into custody. One of the officers was injured in the incident.
Residential Burglary
On June 9 at 10:32 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of Ranchito Road. The residents left for work at different times. When they returned from work, they found their dogs had been separated and locked separate rooms. The master bedroom was ransacked, and a wallet and jewelry was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
On June 9 at 2:17 p.m., a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain called police to report a burglary that had just occurred. A male suspect walked in and selected electrical switches. He walked past open registers and exited without paying. He fled in a waiting vehicle. An employee of the business took a photo of the vehicle, which turned out to be a rental. The officer obtained the name of the renter. A DMV photo
was obtained and compared to photos provided by the business. The suspect was positively identified and a wanted person entry was made into the law enforcement system computer for the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On June 9 at 7:24 p.m., an officer was on patrol in a shopping center in the 500 block of West Huntington. An employee of a business ran outside and reported a theft that just occurred. The employee provided a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle. Another officer in the area located the suspect vehicle, parked, with the suspect seated in the right, front passenger seat. The suspect was detained and arrested for
commercial burglary. The store merchandise was recovered from the suspect vehicle and returned.
Warrant / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 10 at 2:58 a.m., an officer on patrol near Myrtle and Pomona observed suspicious subjects walking around in the area. Officers detained one of the subjects and determined she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The suspect was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Grand Theft
On June 10 at 1:20 p.m., the victim of a grand theft came to the police department lobby to report the crime. The victim parked his vehicle, a 2002 Honda Accord, across the street from his residence in the 100 block of South Madison. When he returned to the vehicle, he started it up and heard a loud noise. He looked under the car and saw the exhaust pipe had been cut and the catalytic converter was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
On June 10 at 7:34 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a disturbing subject. The subject entered the store the day before and caused a disturbance by yelling and throwing trash on the floor. The subject had now returned to the location and continued his bizarre behavior. The subject refused to leave, as requested by store management and was placed on a private person's arrest for trespassing. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation to appear in court.
Traffic Collision with Injuries
On June 11 at 5:48 a.m., an officer responded to Evergreen and Myrtle regarding a traffic collision. It appears the drivers of a big rig truck and a motorcycle were both attempting to make a right turn from Evergreen to southbound Myrtle. The motorcycle was attempting to make the turn by passing the big rig on the right. The motorcycle was hit by the trailer of the big rig and dragged a short distance. The motorcycle rider sustained a broken right leg and some minor abrasions. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Theft from a Vehicle
On June 11 at 8:09 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Orange Avenue. The victim’s GPS was taken from his work van sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.

Commercial Burglary / No-Bail Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On May 29 at 4:50 p.m., loss prevention personnel at a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain called police to report a shoplifter in custody. The loss prevention officer observed the suspect concealing merchandise in the pockets of his pants. The suspect then left the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. An officer responded and arrested the suspect. A computer check revealed the suspect had two no-bail warrants for his arrest. The warrants were added to his charges.
Vehicle Burglary
On May 29 at 6:11 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and secured his vehicle. Upon returning to it a half hour later, he noticed his rear passenger door window was shattered. A brown leather duffle bag containing a laptop and a credit card reader were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On May 31 at 12:08 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of West Duarte regarding a subject being threatened by several subjects in the common area of his apartment complex. When officers arrived and spoke to the person reporting the incident, it was determined he was hallucinating because he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales / Convicted Felon in Possession of a Stun Gun – Suspects Arrested
On May 31 at 1:36 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of West Chestnut for a vehicle code violation. During the course of his investigation, he discovered the driver and the passenger were in possession of narcotics, a scale, cash, and information relating to the sales of narcotics. A stun gun was located in the vehicle and both subjects were found to be convicted felons. Both subjects were arrested and taken into custody for the above listed charges.
Injury Traffic Collision
On May 31 at 5:22 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 700 block of Valley View.  A female subject was driving her vehicle on Valley View and ran into a parked trailer. It appeared as though the driver had some type of seizure. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation. There were three people inside the trailer when it was hit, but no one was injured.
Drunk in Public – Suspects Arrested
On May 31 at 10:42 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a male and female arguing and possibly fighting in 600 block of South Myrtle. Officers arrived to find a husband and wife arguing. Both subjects were so intoxicated they could not explain what they were arguing over. The female became belligerent and aggressive. Both were arrested and taken into custody for being drunk in public.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
On June 1 at 1:44 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting a male and female arguing in the 100 block of North Ivy. When officers arrived, the male subject had left the location. The female had been drinking and became belligerent. The subject’s friends asked officers if they could arrest the subject because she was angry and combative with them. Officers tried speaking with the subject and she became irate and combative with the officers. The subject was arrested for being drunk in public.
Domestic Violence / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
On June 1 at 12:25 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Eighth Avenue regarding the report of domestic violence. The officer observed minor visible injuries to the male subject and determined the female subject to be the aggressor. The officer arrested the female for domestic violence. The male subject was found to be in possession of a glass methamphetamine pipe and was arrested for possession of drug
paraphernalia.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On June 1 at 4:22 p.m., an officer on patrol noticed a pedestrian gate left open in the 100 block of West Foothill. Earlier in the day, the officer noticed that same gate was closed. As the officer exited his vehicle to investigate, he found two subjects loitering in the area. One of the subjects was under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested. The other subject was released.

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
On May 26 at 7:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of West Cypress in reference to a public assist. Upon arrival, the officer saw a male subject in the alley that immediately entered the residence. The reporting party is the resident at the location and she called the police to report her ex-boyfriend as an unwanted guest who was causing a disturbance. The officer contacted the subject and
determined he was intoxicated. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
May 27 at 2:15 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 900 block of West Huntington. An unknown suspect(s) punched the driver's door lock to enter the vehicle. A laptop and two purses were taken, along with a set of keys to the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Drug Activity / Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
May 27 at 4:44 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a subject trying to sell marijuana to an employee. Officers arrived and detained two subjects; one of them was in possession of several baggies of marijuana. The subject was arrested and cited to appear in court on the charge of possession of marijuana.
Commercial Burglary – Suspects Arrested
May 27 at 5:56 p.m., loss prevention from a business in the 500 block of West Huntington called police to report two suspects in the store attempting to steel a pair of shoes. The suspects exited the store with the shoes and were detained by a store loss prevention officer. The suspects had entered the store, and one of the suspects put the shoes on and left his old shoes in the box. The other suspect gave him a tool to cut off
the tags. Then both suspects left the store without paying. Officers arrived and the  suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
May 28 at 8:34 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of Grand. The victim reported that a window on her vehicle was smashed during the night and her vehicle had been ransacked. She parked the vehicle on the street. A bag of clothing had been taken and the content of the glove box was strewn about the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.

May 28 at 9:52 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of West Walnut. The victim parked and locked the vehicle on the street. Sometime during the night, unknown suspect(s) entered and ransacked the vehicle. The vehicle insurance and registration were stolen from the glove box. The victim found a sharp tool with a handle outside the car, possibly used to make entry. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle and Stolen License Plate Recovered
May 28 at 11:16 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of West Foothill called police to report a vehicle that had been parked in a visitor parking space for several weeks. An officer responded and ran the license plate. The vehicle had been reported stolen to Pomona Police Department on May 3. The officer saw another rear license plate inside the vehicle and ran that plate. It returned as stolen out of Azusa. The vehicle and license
plate were recovered. The appropriate agencies were notified of the recovery.
Residential Burglary
May 28 at 10:17 p.m., an officer went to a residence in the 300 block of West Hillcrest on the report of a residential burglary. The suspect entered the residence through an unlocked bedroom window of the property. The victim's handgun, passport and vehicle keys were taken from the home. The suspect then took the victim's vehicle from the driveway. The victim's vehicle was recovered later in the city of Los Angeles. The victim's passport and firearm were not recovered. The investigation is continuing.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered
April 19 at 1:25 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of Wildrose called police to report a white truck parked in front of his house. The dash board of the truck was on his front lawn. An officer responded and ran the license plate of the vehicle, which returned as a reported stolen out of El Monte on May 17. The vehicle was recovered.
Vehicle Burglary
May 19 at 8:03 p.m., a witness phoned police to report two adult male subjects that drove into a parking lot in the 700 block of East Lemon in a red sports car type vehicle. The subjects stopped, exited their car and shattered the window of a parked car. They appeared to be removing something from the vehicle and then they fled. Police responded and an area search was conducted, but the suspects were not located. The
investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On May 19 at 8:07 p.m., loss prevention personnel at a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain called police to report a shoplifter in custody. They observed the male subject select two drills and place them into a cart. The subject left the cart in the garden department with one of the drills still in it. He went to the check out area and paid for the second drill, and then left the store.
He returned a short time later and retrieved the drill he had left in the cart. He then proceeded to the check out area. He told employees he had already purchased the drill and showed them the original receipt.
He left the store with the drill and was stopped outside by loss prevention. An officer responded and arrested the suspect.
Stolen Vehicle
On May 20 at 12:14 a.m., a worker at a business in the 1400 block of South Myrtle Avenue flagged down an officer to report his vehicle had been stolen from the business parking lot during his shift. An area search was made, but the vehicle and suspect were not located. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
On May 20 at 2:29 p.m., a theft from vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Patterson Drive. The victim is unsure if he locked his vehicle or not. Miscellaneous items were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Person
On May 20 at 5:30 p.m., two subjects, one light skinned wearing a gray muscle shirt and one dark skinned wearing a red and yellow hat, approached the victim in the 900 block of West Duarte. They asked the victim for directions and then grabbed the victim’s skateboard out of his hands. The suspects ran west on Duarte Road and out of sight. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary / Grand Theft
On May 21 at 6:11 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of  South California regarding a grand theft. He spoke with the project manager at the location, who told him someone broke into the equipment boxes during the night and stole a large amount of construction tools. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglaries
On May 21 at 5:35 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 200 block of West Duarte Road on the report of two vehicle burglaries. Two vehicles were broken into while the victim’s were inside a gym working out. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
On May 22 at 1:30 a.m., a customer at a gas station heard glass breaking at a nearby business in the 700 block of West Huntington. She looked in the direction of the business and saw what she thought were shadows of men inside, so she called the police. When the officers arrived, they saw two male subjects in dark clothing exit the store and run across a field along the 210 Freeway.
The front window of the business had been shattered. Containment of the area was established, but the suspects were not apprehended. The loss from inside the business was a small amount of cash from a
tip jar. The investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Code Violations – Suspects Cited
On May 16 at 7:50 a.m., an officer observed two male subjects riding bicycles southbound on Myrtle. He saw them commit several vehicle code violations. The officer attempted to stop them, but they split up and kept riding. Officers were called to assist with the stop and both suspects were detained. A pair of bolt cutters was found near one of the suspects. There was nothing to connect the suspects to the bolt cutters
and both suspects were cited for the vehicle code infractions and released. The bolt cutters were seized.
Bicycle Thefts – One Suspect Arrested
On May 16 at 8:50 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 400 block of West Huntington regarding the theft of two bicycles. The officer reviewed video of the bicycle thefts and recognized the suspects from the traffic stop earlier, see above incident. The officers were assisted by the West San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Task Force. The task force went to the suspects’ address in Baldwin Park that was listed on the citations.
They located one of the suspects and approximately 40 bicycles in various stages of being dismantled. The task force seized the bicycles and arrested the suspect. Further investigation revealed the suspects had already sold the stolen bicycles they had taken from the business in Monrovia. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On May 16 at 10:44 p.m., an officer was on patrol at Duarte Road and Enterprise Way when he saw a vehicle traveling at night without headlights. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined the driver was intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was arrested.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On May 17 at 3:00 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle make an illegal turn in the area of Myrtle and Longden. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On May 17 at 11:30 p.m., an officer observed a black Ford Focus traveling south on Mountain without headlights. He stopped the vehicle and noticed the driver was intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Vandalism
On May 18 at 5:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 800 block of West Duarte regarding a report of vandalism. The victim reported that her vehicle was spray painted with gang graffiti. The front of the property was also spray painted with graffiti on the sidewalk. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
On May 18 at 11:04 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Monrovista. The victim left two purses and a backpack in her vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked and one of the windows was down. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On May 18 at 8:09 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a possible drunk driver in the 200 block of West Foothill. The reporting party followed the vehicle until officers arrived. Officers observed the vehicle attempting to park. They contacted the driver and conducted field sobriety tests. The subject was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving under the influence and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary – Suspects Arrested
On May 18 at 8:31 p.m., dispatch received a call from a business in the 500 block of West Huntington reporting two adults in custody for theft. Officers responded and spoke with the suspects. The suspects entered the store with their two-year-old child in a stroller. They proceeded to conceal merchandise inside the stroller and then left without paying. They admitted planning this before they entered. The suspects were
arrested.
Commercial Burglary
On May 18 at 8:53 p.m., an alarm activation was received from a business in the 2600 block of California. Dispatch also received a call from an employee on scene that reported the door to the location had been pried open. Officers responded and cleared the building. Employee cubicles had been ransacked and several laptops had been taken from the individual cubicles. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of May 12-14, 2014

Medical Assist / Warrant – One Suspect Arrested
May 12 at 8:42 a.m., Monrovia police and fire personnel responded to a hotel in the 900 block of West Huntington on the report of a subject having a seizure in one of the hotel rooms. It was determined that the subject had overdosed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Several friends of the subject were present in the hotel room and were identified; one of subject was found to have a warrant and was arrested.
Violation of a Court Order – Suspect Arrested
May 12 at 9:57 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Mayflower and Alta Vista when he observed a subject on a bicycle he recognized. The subject had a restraining order prohibiting him from the area. The officer detained the subject, as he was only 30 yards away from the protected person's residence. The officer confirmed the restraining order and arrested the subject.
Vehicle Burglary
May 13 at 6:34 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business in the 700 block of East Huntington. An Unknown suspect smashed the window of a vehicle parked in the business parking lot. Two purses that were left in the vehicle were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Medical Assist
May 13 at 8:13 a.m., police received a call reporting a driver in a vehicle at Myrtle and Huntington was possibly having a heart attack. Responding officers arrived on scene quickly and checked the subject for a pulse, but did not find one. Officers applied an automated external defibrillator (AED). A shock was advised and delivered. A pulse was obtained. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics arrived and rendered aid to the
subject. He was taken to a hospital for further treatment and was released later that day.
Commercial Burglary
May 13 at 11:47 a.m., a burglary was reported at a business in the 400 block of South Myrtle. The reporting party returned to the business in the morning and found the front door was unlocked. She noticed items were missing. There was an instructor at the business on Sunday, but it is unknown if door was left unlocked. There were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft From a Vehicle
May 13 at 11:58 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the police lobby on the report of a grand theft from a vehicle. The victim had parked his unlocked vehicle at the corner of Palm and Ivy in the evening. He returned to his vehicle the next day and found that his Titanium road bike was missing. The victim does not remember if he locked the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
May 13 at 5:17 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business in the 700 block of East Huntington. The victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot and went into the gym to work out. When she returned to her vehicle, she found the front passenger window smashed. A gym bag with clothing in it was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary / Conspiracy / Weapons Offense – Four Suspects Arrested
May 14 at 3:11 a.m., and officer was on patrol in the area of Magnolia and Huntington when he stopped a motorist for a modified exhaust violation. When the officer approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana and observed metal knuckles on the rear floor board. The officer requested additional officers to assist and removed the four occupants from the vehicle.
One of the occupants had a large hunting knife concealed in his pocket. Further investigation revealed unopened mail and electronics inside of the vehicle. The mail belonged to a victim who lives in the 500 block of North Alta Vista. The burglary had occurred minutes before the officer detained the suspects. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody. One of the suspects admitted to the burglary.
Vandalism
May 14 at 8:02 a.m., a business in the 1800 block of South California reported that someone wrote graffiti on the front door of the business sometime during the night. The graffiti was written on the front door of the business in black marker. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary – Suspect Arrested
May 15 at 3:39 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Norumbega regarding a burglary. The victim had just been released from police custody. When he returned home, he observed an acquaintance inside of his residence. The victim yelled at the suspect and he ran out of the back door holding the victim's cell phone charger.
An officer responded and found the suspect one block away from the location. The suspect claimed he found the cell phone charger. Further investigation revealed the suspect knew the victim was arrested earlier and did not expect him to be released from custody yet. Fresh pry marks were located on the
victim's back door. The suspect was arrested.

Stolen Vehicle
On May 1 at 12:28 a.m., an employee from a business in the 300 block of West Maple parked his car on the street, leaving the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition. When he returned to the vehicle, it was gone. The car is a silver, 2014 Prius with paper plates. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
On May 2 at 8:41 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 100 block of East Lemon regarding a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) broke out the glass front door, went directly to the pharmacy and took Codeine, then fled back out the front door. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
On May 2 at 9:22 a.m., dispatch received information about a vehicle in the 100 block of West Lemon. A computer check revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Monrovia. An officer completed a grand theft auto report and broadcast the vehicle information. An officer on patrol was actively looking for the stolen vehicle and saw three subjects, one of them was hiding behind a vehicle in a parking lot in the 100 block of West Lime Avenue. The officer observed a set of keys, a gas card, and a gift card on the ground
where the subject was hiding. The keys were to the stolen vehicle. The suspect
admitted to taking the vehicle and to the theft of the cards. The suspect was arrested.
Kidnapping – Suspect Arrested
On May 2 at 7:26 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Chestnut and Monterey on the report of a kidnapping that just occurred. Several witnesses called dispatch to report an adult male suspect forced an adult female into his vehicle. A description of the suspect and his vehicle was provided. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or victim.
Approximately two hours later, the victim called police to report the incident. The victim said her ex-boyfriend forced her into his vehicle and brought her to his residence in an effort to reestablish their relationship. The victim was able to negotiate her release and left unharmed. She went home and called the police. Officers went to the suspect's residence in the 400 block of South Alta Vista and arrested him. The suspect claimed the victim entered his vehicle under her own volition. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
On May 2 at 8:13 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of West Huntington. The victim parked her vehicle in a business parking lot and locked and secured her vehicle, but left her purse on the floorboard. When she returned to the vehicle, she found the right front passenger window was smashed and her Coach handbag was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
On May 2 at 10:27 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of North Magnolia. The reporting party is a neighbor who was house sitting for the victims, who were out of town. The suspect(s) forced entry to the home through the front door. The house was ransacked, but the loss cannot be determined until the victim's return home. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
On May 2 at 10:57 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Concord on the report of a residential burglary. The suspect(s) forced entry to the victim's home through the front door. The house was ransacked and property was stolen. The victim will conduct an inventory of her missing property. The investigation is continuing.
Suspicious Subject / Theft From a Vehicle / Recovered Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
On May 3 at 10:25 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting a suspicious person using a hose at a residence in the 500 block of West Colorado. An officer contacted the subject, who claimed he knew the resident who lived in the back of the location. Due to the subject’s suspicious actions, officers searched the subject and found a credit card in a woman's name.
The subject claimed the credit card belonged to a female friend and he was holding on to it until he could return it to her. Attempts to locate the female were unsuccessful. The credit card was held as property under observation and the subject was released.
Later in the shift, the officer was able to contact the owner of the credit card. She discovered her purse, which contained her credit card, had been taken from her unlocked vehicle. Officers were able to relocate the suspect and arrested him for possession of the stolen credit card. The suspect told the officer the location of the purse and the purse was recovered.
Robbery
On May 3 at 5:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a robbery. A male Hispanic suspect in his mid-twenties who had concealed merchandise on his person was confronted outside the store by loss prevention. The suspect threatened the loss prevention officer with a knife and ran.
Officers arrived and conducted and area search, but the suspect was not located. The suspect was identified and the investigation continued.
On May 5 at 1:00 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 300 block of South Myrtle recognized the robbery suspect. The suspect saw the officer and ducked down in an attempt to hide behind another subject. He then ran in the front entrance of the library. Containment was set up and officers entered the library to conduct a search for the suspect. The suspect attempted to run from officers, but was quickly taken into custody
and arrested.
Vehicle Burglary – Suspects Arrested
On May 3 at 10:34 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of West Walnut called police to report two suspects he contacted inside his vehicle, which was parked in the street. The victim confronted the suspects, who returned his property and fled. The suspects were detained by officers in the 900 block of South Fifth. They were identified by the victim and arrested.

Theft From an Unlocked Vehicle
On April 28 at 8:40 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of East Greystone. The victim parked her vehicle in her driveway at approximately 10:00 a.m. She left her vehicle unlocked. When she returned to her vehicle at 10:30 p.m., she found her right passenger door ajar, and her jacket and a notebook were missing from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On April 28 at 1:13 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 400 block of West Chestnut regarding a disturbing subject who would not leave. The subject was located and was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He also had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On April 28 at 1:49 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a homeless person in the area of Lemon and Primrose. The subject was perspiring heavily, walking fast, and kept looking back at the officer. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested.
Criminal Threats / Battery – Suspect Arrested
On April 29 at 3:53 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Duarte regarding the reporting party’s grandson, who was causing a disturbance. The officer determined the subject had made criminal threats and pushed his friend. The disturbing subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On April 29 at 8:45 p.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain. The female suspect entered the location pushing a stroller with an infant inside. She selected merchandise and placed it on top of the stroller. She put her sweater over the top of the stroller, concealing the merchandise. She then walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise and was detained by store loss prevention. The suspect was arrested for burglary and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 29 at 10:38 p.m., a disturbing subject was reported at a business in the 1100 block of East Huntington. An officer arrived and learned an argument had taken place between several subjects. Most of the subjects left before the officer arrived, but one of them was located in the parking lot. Upon contacting the subject, the officer determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He arrested the subject for public intoxication. The subject was later released on a citation after sobering.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
April 30 at 6:23 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington on the report of a shoplifter in custody. The female suspect entered the store and selected merchandise, which she placed in her cart. She then went into the fitting rooms. While in the fitting rooms, she concealed some of the merchandise in her purse. She was detained by loss prevention after exiting the store without paying for
the merchandise in her purse. The suspect was arrested for burglary and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
May 1 at 1:49 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Myrtle and Lemon when he observed a group of suspicious subjects loitering. The officer contacted the subjects and determined one of them was extremely intoxicated. He was uncooperative and verbally abusive toward officers. He was arrested for public intoxication and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
May 1 at 4:47 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of South Magnolia on a domestic violence investigation. The officer’s investigation revealed the female subject involved in the incident was the aggressor. She attempted to strangle her live-in boyfriend, and the victim sustained fingernail scratches on his neck. He declined medical treatment. The officer arrested the female suspect for domestic
violence.

Credit Card Fraud Case Solved – Suspect Arrested
On June 12, 2013, a male subject entered a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain and attempted to use three forged credit cards with the stolen account information of three victims embedded in the cards. Loss prevention had been given a tip that the suspect would be coming in to commit the crimes and a loss prevention officer was able to observe and photograph the suspect in the act of committing the crime. He was also able to photograph the suspect’s vehicle and license plate. Patrol personnel took the report of the incident and began an initial investigation.
Initially, the victim’s could not be identified; however, with determination, a detective eventually located all of the victims and obtained what was needed to proceed against the suspect.  Working with another law enforcement agency, the suspect was identified and apprehended. The handling detective took the case to the District Attorney’s office for review, and the charges of burglary and attempted theft by means of fraudulent use of credit cards was obtained. This is a good example of collaborative effort and
persistence by the investigators involved.

Alcohol Offense - Subjects Cited

On April 24 at 3:07 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 300 block of Myrtle Avenue was monitoring activity taking place in the park. He saw two male adult subjects drinking alcohol at one of the benches. Both subjects were cited for drinking alcohol in the park.
Theft From an Unlocked Vehicle
On April 25 at 11:50 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of East Huntington regarding a theft from a vehicle. At 7:55 a.m., the victim parked his vehicle in a business parking lot located on the north side of the street. He did not lock his vehicle or activate his alarm. He returned to his vehicle at 11:35 a.m. and found his center console open and his GPS was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
On April 26 at 11:45 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of Poppy Avenue. The victim’s son parked his vehicle in the driveway the day before at 10:00 p.m. The next day the victim entered his car to move it and noticed that items in his vehicle had been moved around and miscellaneous change was missing from the center console. He did not remember if the car was locked when he entered, but all the
doors were closed. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision – Vehicle vs. Pedestrian
On April 26 at 5:28 p.m., an injury traffic collision was reported in the 300 block of North Canyon. An 18-year-old male ran across the street from between cars and was struck by a motorist. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was determined to be at fault.
Theft From a Vehicle
On April 26 at 6:17 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of Poppy Avenue. The victim parked his vehicle on the street in front of his house the night before. He returned to his vehicle the next morning at 8:30 a.m. to find the interior compartments had been ransacked. An iPhone, a GPS unit, and a canvas bag had been taken from inside the vehicle. He believes he left his vehicle unlocked, since there
were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.

On April 27 at 3:09 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of South Myrtle regarding a suspect on a bicycle looking into vehicle windows. Officers arrived and detained the suspect. The suspect was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.

Vehicle Burglary 
April 21 at 3:29 p.m., the victim of a vehicle burglary came to the police lobby to report her vehicle had been broken into while parked in the 400 block of East Colorado. She noticed that the rubber seal around the driver’s door had been pushed in and the vehicle was ransacked. It appears nothing was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Theft – Catalytic Converter
On April 21 at 4:52 p.m., a theft was reported in the 700 block of Montana. The victim came into the police lobby to report that someone had stolen the catalytic converter off his vehicle. The victim went out to start his vehicle and heard a loud noise. He drove his vehicle to a mechanic, who told him that the catalytic converter was missing off his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Theft from a Vehicle
On April 21 at 8:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Montana on the report of a theft from a vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked and the victim's black iPhone was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft – Two Bicycles
On April 9:23 p.m., a theft of two bicycles was reported in the 100 block of Montana.  The bicycles were stolen from a rear carport. The theft occurred sometime between 4:00 p.m. on April 20 and 7:00 a.m. on April 21. The investigation is continuing.
Fraud / Identity Theft – Two Suspects Arrested
On April 21 at 11:53 p.m., an officer responded to a hotel in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding two hotel guests that checked into a room with stolen credit card information. Upon arrival, officers located the suspects inside a hotel room. They conducted an investigation and located stolen credit cards, stolen mail from several locations, ledgers containing personal information, and credit applications. The two
suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
On April 22 at 12:27 a.m., an officer conducted a domestic violence investigation involving a female that punched her defenseless fiancé several times in the face. The male subject is recovering from an injury he received in a motorcycle accident. The female suspect left the location. The officer contacted the female suspect on the phone and convinced her to turn herself in to police. She admitted to the crime and was taken
into custody.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 22 at 1:00 a.m., an officer was sent to a hotel in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding a female associate of the fraud suspects that were arrested in the above fraud incident. The female was contacted, but was not linked to fraud case. The officer found the female to be in possession of a straw used to inhale methamphetamine. She was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Battery / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 22 at 8:00 a.m., a disturbance between a mother and daughter was reported in the 700 block of South Monterey. The mother had claimed the daughter hit her in the leg with a fist. Officers arrived, but the mother had left the location. The daughter was found to have a warrant and was arrested.
Vandalism
April 22 at 8:31 a.m., a caller reported an incident of vandalism in the 1300 block of South Myrtle. The caller reported blue graffiti on the wall facing Montana. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
April 22 at 1:23 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a shoplifter being detained. Through investigation, the officer determined the female suspect had taken a large empty purse into the store, concealed merchandise in the purse and exited the store. She was arrested for burglary and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On April 22 at 8:30 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Madison on a disturbance between a male and female subject. When the officer arrived, he conducted a computer check, which revealed the male subject had an outstanding DUI warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued by the Pasadena Police Department. The subject was arrested for the warrant. Pasadena was notified and
officers responded and took custody of the subject.

Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
On April 17 at 8:41 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a petty theft. The suspect was seen selecting merchandise and walking towards the exit doors. He placed the items down, exited the store, and returned a few minutes later. He picked up the items, selected additional items, and walked into the dressing room, where he concealed some items on his person and then
exited the store without paying. He walked to another business and was detained by officers. Officers recovered store merchandise from inside the bathroom.
During a search of the suspect, officers located heroin and syringes. The suspect was arrested.

On April 17 at 10:37 p.m., an officer stopped a subject on a bicycle in the area of Myrtle and Huntington for traveling on the sidewalk with no lighting device. During the investigation, the officer determined the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. He arrested the subject.

On April 18 at 3:14 a.m., an officer noticed a subject near the front doors of a closed business in the 400 block of West Huntington. The officer approached to investigate, and during the investigation, the subject was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.
Attempt Grand Theft Auto
On April 18 at 4:10 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Bonita heard someone trying to start his vehicle. He went outside and discovered a male subject inside his vehicle. He confronted the suspect, who reached into a bag he had his lap. The victim left to call police. When he returned, the suspect had fled. Officers responded and conducted an area search for the suspect, but he was not located. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his 20’s, 5'5” tall, with grey hair and a mustache. The investigation is
continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrest
On April 18 at 5:03 a.m., during the area check for the attempt grand theft auto suspect, officers contacted a subject in the 300 block of West Huntington. During the contact with the subject, they discovered he had a no-bail warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft from a Vehicle
On April 18 in the early evening, two residents reported to police that the catalytic converters were stolen off their vehicles. The thefts occurred in the 1600 block of South Myrtle and the 700 block of West Foothill. In both incidents, the residents started their vehicles and heard a loud noise coming from underneath, which led to the discovery of the missing catalytic converters. The investigations are continuing.
Resisting Arrest / Drunk in Public / Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
On April 19 at 12:08 a.m., officers responded to a park in the 300 block of South Myrtle regarding two subjects fighting. When the officers arrived, a witness pointed out one of the subjects involved in the fight. The other had left the location. As the officers approached the suspect, he ran from them toward a residence. As he ran, he smashed through a fence and broke some potted plants. The suspect was uncooperative and was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested and taken into custody for the
above listed charges.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
On April 19 at 4:18 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Fifth and Huntington observed a suspicious person walking away from a vehicle. He ran a computer check on the vehicle plate and it returned as a stolen plate. The VIN number on the vehicle returned as a stolen vehicle out of Arcadia. A replica pistol was found in the vehicle that was painted to resemble an actual pistol. The investigation is continuing.
Receiving Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
On April 19 at 4:20 p.m., an officer on patrol contacted a suspect in the area of Primrose and Olive who was in possession of a stolen cell phone and fraudulent gift cards. The cell phone was stolen out of Pacoima. The gift cards were magnetically coded with different numbers than the numbers on the front of the cards. Additionally, the suspect had a small piece of paper with several credit card numbers and expiration dates. The suspect was arrested for receiving stolen property and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On April 20 at 8:37 p.m., a driver called dispatch to report he was following a possible drunk driver at Myrtle and Huntington. Officers located the vehicle and stopped it at Primrose and Walnut. Officers contacted the driver and he appeared intoxicated. After investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.
Vehicle Burglary
On April 21 at 5:00 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of West Walnut walked outside his home to his vehicle and discovered it had been burglarized during the night. He had parked it the night before at about 10:00 p.m. and locked the doors. The victim's wallet was taken out of the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
