Highlighted Activity for October 5-7, 2015


Residential Burglary
October 5 at 9:36 p.m., a burglary alarm was activated at a house in the 200 block of Bradoaks. Officers arrived and discovered a backdoor open with the window in it shattered. They surrounded the house, then made entry; however, no suspects were located inside or in the surrounding area. The home had been ransacked and evidence was collected, but the loss is unknown until the owner can inventory the property.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 6 at 7:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to a grocery store in the 100 block of west Foothill, where a 25-year-old male suspect was being detained by store security for shoplifting. The suspect had entered the store and placed merchandise in his pockets. He went to a register and paid for a box of tea, but not for what he had hidden in his pockets. As he left the store, he was stopped by store security. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Camping in a Park after Closing – Suspects Arrested
October 6 at 11:41 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of South California when he observed a male and female subject camping in the park after the park was closed. The male and female had both been issued citations in the past for the same violation; however, they continued to refuse to leave the park. They were both issued citations to appear in court on the violation and escorted out of the park.
Traffic Collision
October 7 at 10:00 a.m., a semi-truck with a trailer was making a turning movement in the 300 block of West Maple. The driver cut the corner short and struck a fire hydrant, causing the water pipe to burst. The Fire Department and City Public Works crews were able to stop the flow of water, but significant damage was caused to the sidewalk near the hydrant.
Vandalism
October 7 at 3:25 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of Norumbega for a vandalism incident that had just occurred. An intoxicated female who had been living at the residence for two weeks was involved in a verbal argument with the owner of the home. The female became angry and kicked a stereo speaker, causing damage. The owner of the property completed a Private Person's Arrest for the female and she was arrested and taken into custody. After sobering, she was released on citation to appear in court on the charge.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 7 at 3:56 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. A computer check revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Fight in Progress
October 7 at 4:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported fight in progress in the area of Mayflower and Olive. Upon arrival, one female juvenile was being taken to the hospital for minor injuries and a second female juvenile was no longer in the area. The investigation revealed the two subjects had texted each other and agreed to meet at the park to fight. The subject at the scene was uncooperative and refused to provide an account of what occurred. The parents of the minor signed a refusal to prosecute form. The investigation continues to identify the second suspect in this case.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 8 at 12:37 a.m., police were notified by a citizen of a possible drunk driver in a Mitsubishi at Myrtle and Lemon. The vehicle was located by an officer at Lemon and Ivy. The driver failed to stop for the stop sign at Lemon and Ivy and was stopped by the officer. The officer contacted the driver and determined he was intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. He was held for a sobering.
Grand Theft Auto
October 8 at 2:08 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of West Walnut, as a resident reported her ex-boyfriend had just stolen her vehicle. He had stolen her car keys a week prior after an argument. She reported the theft to the police, but the suspect had fled the scene and was not apprehended. The victim was inside her home at 2:08 a.m. and heard the engine to her vehicle start. She ran outside and saw her ex-boyfriend driving away with her car without her permission. She called police.
Officers arrived and searched the area for the suspect, but he had fled the area in the vehicle and was not located. The vehicle is a 2010, four-door, black Ford Flex. The vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle system, and the suspect was entered into the wanted persons system.
Detective Bureau Case Update
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Receiving Stolen Property/Ex-Felon with Ammunition/Ex-Felon with a Firearm
On October 2, 2015, a suspicious subject was seen in the 600 block of West Palm unloading property. Monrovia Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team established surveillance of the location and observed the minivan leaving the area being driven by the female suspect. They stopped the van and noticed property in the van. The driver could not account for why she was in possession of the property. They also recovered ammunition for a shotgun and a pistol in the vehicle. The female suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, and ex-felon with ammunition.
A search warrant was written and served on October 3, 2015, at 7:00 a.m. on the residence, as the ammunition and stolen property was recovered in the vehicle. The firearm was recovered, and a separate individual, the resident, was arrested for possessing the firearm, as he is a convicted felon.

Prowler/Trespasser early morning hours June 17, 2015


Not only did we have a trespasser on the street.  Lee took the time to call MPD who responded and apprehended him.  She then took it a step further and posted the info on the Next Door website so neighbors in the area off our street were aware as well.

The app screen shot you are looking is for Next Door.com  which the city set us up on.  Its an interesting site where all sorts of information takes place with lots of discussions.  Most of it is insipid drivel, but there are good tidbits like this that redeem it.

Highlighted Activity for March 12-15, 2015

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 5:53 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Shamrock and East Colorado, when he observed a known male subject standing in a park, clenching his fists open and closed, repeatedly, acting very nervous, and scanning the park. The officers contacted the subject and detained him. A second officer responded to assist.
When he thought the officers were not looking, the subject attempted to toss a small bindle, which was later found to contain methamphetamine. Through investigation, the subject was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken into custody. Upon searching the suspect, another bindle of methamphetamine was located on his person.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 6:26 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a park in the 300 block of North Grand Avenue on the report of possible drug activity. The officer located a male adult subject in the area and detained him. A computer check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested for the warrant.
Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 8:42 p.m., an officer on patrol contacted a suspicious female in the area of Foothill & Madison. A subsequent investigation revealed the female to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The subject was arrested for the above listed
charges.
Receiving Stolen Property / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Conspiracy to Commit Theft / Identity Theft – Suspect Arrested
March 13 at 9:22 a.m., an officer was following up on search warrants he had written regarding a commercial burglary. His search led him to a hotel in Baldwin Park, where he located a female subject. During the contact, there was drug paraphernalia and items which were very likely stolen, in plain view. After a consent search, items were found indicating that the female at the location was an accomplice to the suspect in the case. The female was arrested and evidence was collected.
Miscellaneous Theft From Metro Rail
March 13 at 10:03 a.m., unknown suspects stole 20 feet of negative return copper wire by cutting it from the ground near the Metro tracks and Mayflower sometime between March 12 at 3:30 p.m. and March 13 at 7:00 a.m. The suspects left behind a saw blade, box cutter and a work glove. The investigation is continuing.
Theft of Cell Phones – Suspects Arrested
March 13 at 3:24 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the High School in the 800 block of West Colorado regarding stolen cell phones. Two female students left class with permission. They went to a locker room and located two backpacks that did not belong to them. They looked in the backpacks and removed two cell phones, one each. Other students observed them leaving the area, just prior to the victims returning. School staff located the two females and they still had the stolen phones in their possession. The suspects were arrested, taken into custody and later released on citation to their
parents.
Violation of a Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
March 13 at 7:42 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of South Myrtle and saw a subject he knew had a restraining order on file which prohibits him from being within 100 yards of the location he was at. The officer confirmed the restraining order and arrested the subject.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 1:29 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 500 block of South Myrtle and observed a motorist swerving on the roadway and failing to signal while making a turn. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and determined the driver to be driving under the influence. The driver was arrested.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 2:12 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 800 block of Wildrose and observed a motorist swerving in the roadway and failing to signal while making a turn. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and discovered the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Felony Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 4:12 a.m., officers were sent to the 800 block of West Walnut regarding a traffic collision involving injuries. The investigation revealed an intoxicated driver was attempting to drive away from the location and his friend was trying to prevent him from leaving. The friend was standing between the open driver’s door and the vehicle, when the driver suddenly accelerated and crashed into two unoccupied, parked vehicles. The friend was knocked to the ground and sustained head injuries. The driver sustained lacerations to his head and mouth. Both subjects were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Family Disturbance / Battery – Suspect Arrested
March 14 at 9:56 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of South Mountain regarding a family disturbance. The investigation revealed that a battery to a dependant adult had occurred. The victim's adult son was arrested and Adult Protective Services was contacted.
Disturbing Subjects / Drunk in Public – Suspects Arrested
March 14 at 11:02 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of East Colorado on the report of two subjects fighting. Investigation revealed the subjects were not fighting, but were both extremely intoxicated. The subjects were arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 15 at 2:32 a.m., a vehicle was stopped for a vehicle code violation at Mountain and Evergreen. The investigation revealed the driver was driving under the influence and she was arrested and taken into custody.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
March 15 at 9:36 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of East Evergreen regarding an intoxicated subject passed out in the grass. The officer determined that the subject was unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Mental Evaluation
March 16 at 12:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to a location in the 400 block of Hurstview regarding a subject breaking out windows. The subject has been diagnosed as schizophrenic and was acting violent toward his parents and causing damage to the home. The subject was taken to a hospital and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 16 at 1:06 a.m., an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation at Madison and Foothill. The female occupant in the vehicle was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 16 at 3:27 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 500 block of West Huntington noticed a suspicious subject behind a stack of used tires. He stopped and contacted the subject. A computer check of the subject revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A search of the subject’s vehicle uncovered over 200 gift cards that are being held for observation to determine if they are fraudulent or stolen.

Highlighted Activity for January 26-28, 2015

Fraud - Suspect Arrested
January 26 at 12:58 p.m., police received a call from a business in the 300 block of West Huntington, reporting a suspect at their front counter who was attempting to return items with a stolen credit card. The suspect had purchased $800 worth of headphones the previous day, using false identification and a stolen credit card. Store employees realized the credit card was stolen after the purchase was made and the suspect had left the store.
The suspect had now returned to the store and was attempting to return the headphones for cash. Employees recognized the suspect and called police. Officers arrived at the location and detained the suspect without incident. The suspect was still in possession of the fictitious identification and credit cards. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for fraud charges. After further investigation, it was learned that this suspect had charged over $100,000 in stolen merchandise throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 28 at 8:29 p.m., a female subject called police to report her car was stolen from the 400 block of South Myrtle.
An officer was dispatched to the location and he contacted the subject. While he was speaking with her, he noticed signs of intoxication. The officer located the subject’s vehicle on Myrtle, just north of where they were standing. A computer check of the subject revealed she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest; she was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.

Highlighted Activity for January 19-21, 2015

Theft from a vehicle
January 19 at 6:54 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of El Nido regarding the theft of a stereo from a vehicle. The victim parked his vehicle overnight on the street with the doors unlocked and the windows down. The victim returned to his vehicle in the morning and discovered his car stereo had been ripped out of the dashboard. The investigation is continuing.
Outside Assist – United States Marshals
January 21 at 3:25 p.m., United States Marshals had information that a wanted fraud suspect was at a location in the 600 block of South Primrose in Monrovia. They notified the Monrovia Police Department and requested assistance. Officers and Monrovia’s Special Enforcement Team responded to assist. The suspect was found at the location and taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

Highlighted Activity for January 8-11, 2015

Animal Problem
January 9 at 3:08 p.m., police received information reporting possible animal cruelty occurring at a residence in the 400 block of Monrovista. An officer responded to the location and found there were seven dogs at the residence. Pasadena Humane Society was contacted and also responded to the location. The dog owner voluntarily released custody of five of the dogs to Pasadena Humane and two remained at the location.
The two remaining dogs were unlicensed and the owner was given a time period in which to get the dogs licensed. There was no evidence of physical abuse to the animals; however, there was an element of general neglect, based on the poor condition of the home, where the animals were kept. The Community Policing Office will follow up on this case regarding code enforcement violations.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
January 9 at 6:15 p.m., an intoxicated female subject was found at the skate park in the 800 block of East Olive. The subject was arrested and held for sobering.
Urinating in Public / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested 
January 10 at 7:50 p.m., officers observed a male subject urinating against a wall in the 1800 block of South Myrtle. The subject was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested. He was held for sobering.
Disturbance / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
January 10 at 10:00 p.m., police responded to the theater in the 400 block of South Myrtle regarding a male subject causing a disturbance inside the theatre. Officers determined the subject was intoxicated and could not care for himself. He was arrested and held for sobering.
Vehicle Burglary
January 11 at 5:03 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1800 block of South Fifth Avenue. The victim parked and locked the vehicle in its assigned parking space. Unknown suspect(s) smashed one of the vehicle windows and took a Nikon camera that was left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft – Suspects Arrested
January 12 at 4:22 a.m., police received several calls reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 00 block of Hidden Valley. When officers arrived, the victim reported that two females had come onto his property and were stealing yard art, pots and plants from his front yard. The victim heard the suspects and confronted them.
When confronted, the females began yelling that they were being raped and residents in the area phoned police to report someone was being raped. The females were able to get into their vehicle and they fled. Officers arrived and locked down the street. They located the suspects still nearby on Hidden Valley. The stolen property was recovered. The victim positively identified the suspects and made a citizen's arrest. The suspects were arrested and their vehicle was stored.

Highlighted Activity for December 8-10, 2014

Commercial Burglary
December 8 at 6:17 a.m., an officer responded to a construction site in the 1800 block of South Mountain regarding a burglary investigation. Unknown Suspect(s) entered the property by cutting through a lock at a neighboring business. Once inside the lot, the suspect(s) used a blow torch to cut open the steel tool crib and stole the construction company’s tools. The tools from this company were for building the Gold Line yard.
Battery / Child Endangerment – Suspect Arrested
On December 9 at 9:37 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of California. A male and female who have a small child together were involved in a dispute with other family members at the location. As the father was leaving with the child in his arms, he kicked a piece of wood and it struck one of the family members. Officers arrived and detained the father. After investigation, the father was arrested for battery and for child endangerment. Additional factors regarding the care and health of the child have also surfaced that need to be addressed and the Department of Children and Family Services was contacted.
Receiving Stolen Property / Suspicion of Auto Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On December 9 at 2:23 p.m., while officers were on a follow-up response for the above battery and child endangerment incident in the 300 block of California, they were approached by a male victim of an auto burglary. The victim reported that a subject at the location the officers were at was wearing a shirt that had been stolen from his vehicle in the 300 block of East Palm earlier in the day. The officers detained the subject and checked his vehicle. A burglary tool was located and prints taken. Other items were also stolen. The suspect was wearing the victim’s shirt; he was arrested and
charged with receiving stolen property.
Hazardous Fuel Spill
On December 9 at 5:50 p.m., a fuel truck was leaking a trail of diesel fuel, causing several vehicles to lose traction in the area of Central and Myrtle. The truck had exited from the 210 Freeway and had trailed fuel from the freeway down the off ramp. An absorbent material was applied and a street sweeper removed the remaining material from the street.
Attempt Grand Theft Auto / Car-Jacking / Criminal Threats / Possible Gang Enhancement – Suspect Arrested
December 10 at 12:54 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a male subject attempting to steal a car at a business in the 3000 block of South Peck. Officers responded, assisted by the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter, and located the suspect hiding in a portable office. The suspect had entered the victim's vehicle and was successful in starting the vehicle. When he began to move the vehicle, the owner of the vehicle utilized a commercial fork lift to raise the vehicle so the suspect could no longer move it. Angered, the suspect threatened the victim. He claimed a local gang and threatened
they would come back and kill him. The suspect has numerous gang tattoos on his head, neck and body. The suspect was arrested and a bail enhancement is being sought, due to the nature of the threat and the gang association.
Domestic Violence
December 10 at 1:20 p.m., a male and female who have a child in common were riding
on a bus, heading east toward Azusa. The male was angry at the female for leaving the
welfare office before they could accomplish what they went in for, and he bit her several
times and began choking her. Other passengers on the bus intervened, and the male
suspect then assaulted an older Good Samaritan who was trying to help the victim. The
suspect exited the bus and fled. The suspect’s identity is known and a wanted person’s
entry was made into the law enforcement system. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 6-8, 2014

Mental Evaluation
On October 7 at 9:14 p.m., a female subject who lives in the 300 block of North Encinitas Avenue phoned police several times to report she needed assistance. As officers were on the way, a male subject at the same location phoned to report the female subject was hitting him and his face was bleeding. He reported that the female subject is supposed to be on medication that she was not taking. When officers arrived, they observed the female being very aggressive toward the male subject. The male subject had visible injuries and was treated on scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics. The female was taken to a hospital, where she was held for mental evaluation.
Battery
On October 8 at 3:11 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 200 block of East Foothill regarding an assault that just occurred. The victim told the officer she was using numerous washing machines when another subject inside the location became  confrontational with her over the amount of machines she was using. Several words were exchanged and both subjects started fist fighting. They were separated by other patrons in the business. Both subjects signed a refusal to prosecute.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspects Arrested
On October 8 at 8:58 p.m., a manager of a business called to report a suspicious subject knocking on doors in the 900 block of South Fifth. The subject was looking for a person who had rented a room at the location. On our way to the location the subject went to the front desk and gave them the name of the person he was looking for and then he left. The name of the person given to management had rented two rooms that day and paid cash for both.
Officers went to the rooms, at the request of management, to make sure everything was okay. Upon checking the first room none of the subjects were the person who had rented the room. However, two of the subjects had several items inside the room and appeared to be staying there. During our investigation we discovered a sizeable amount of methamphetamine, packaging material and cash. Two subjects were arrested, one for possession of a controlled substance for sales and the other for a warrant.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of September 8-10, 2014

Remembering 9/11 – We Will Never Forget
The Monrovia Police Department would like to join the citizens of Monrovia in remembering all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. September 11,
2001, was the deadliest day in U.S. law enforcement history, with 72 peace officers killed in the line of duty.
Please stop and take a moment today to remember those who lost their lives in the attacks and the loved ones they left behind who are still grieving every single day.

Panhandling / Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
On September 8 at 10:39 p.m., an employee from a fast food business in the 400 block of West Huntington reported a male subject soliciting patrons and reaching into vehicles as they waited in the drive-thru. Officers arrived and located the subject; he was determined to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested and held for a period of sobering.
Theft from a Vehicle
On September 8 at 3:16 p.m., the victim of a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the 200 block of East Cherry Avenue came to the Police Department to report the crime. The victim parked his vehicle in his driveway, but did not lock it. The victim left an iPad and laptop computer in the vehicle. When the victim returned to his vehicle the next morning, he found his property was missing. The crime occurred sometime during the night on May 25 to 26.
Missing Person Located
On September 9 at 7:39 p.m., a group home in the 100 block of East Central Avenue called police to report that an adult resident from the home was missing. The subject was described as being mentally challenged and not being familiar with the area. Officers obtained as much information as possible about the subject, then conducted a thorough investigation and eventually located the subject.
Grand Theft Auto – Suspect Arrested
On September 9 at 10:21 p.m., a police agent conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of South Mayflower Avenue for a vehicle code violation. During the initial contact, the driver became belligerent and confrontational. The agent requested an additional backup unit and with assistance, the subject was detained. During the confrontation, the dispatcher was running a computer check of the license plate and learned the vehicle stopped was a stolen vehicle; the driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Bear Incident
On September 10 at 9:57 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of East Olive Avenue called police to report a mother bear and her cub in a tree in their front yard. Officers responded and monitored the bears until the Department of Fish and Wildlife could respond.
Media arrived in the area and began broadcasting the incident. California Fish and Wildlife arrived and cleared the officers from the area. They monitored the bear and her cub from a distance to allow them to leave the area and return to the Foothills, but the bears remained in the tree into the evening.
As the story was broadcast on television, a large crowd of bystanders and vehicles began to form in the area. Police shut down the 200 block of Olive to through vehicle and pedestrian traffic in an effort to allow the bears to feel comfortable and not threatened to leave the area. Officers monitored the bears throughout the evening and eventually they left the area during the night.
Critical Missing Located / Mental Evaluation
On September 10 at 11:06 p.m., an adult female was reported missing to police. The subject is on medication and had not taken it that day. She has been reported missing several times in the past. Police conducted a thorough search for the subject, but were unable to locate her. Local hospitals and agencies were notified and the subject was entered into the law enforcement missing person’s system. The subject came into the police department lobby the next morning. She was removed from the missing persons system and was picked up from the station by her mother. Later, that morning, the
subject went missing again. She was located by police again and taken to a hospital, where she was held for mental evaluation.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of August 25-27, 2014

Commercial Burglary – Suspects Arrested
On August 25 at 11:24 p.m., police responded to a business in the 600 block of West Huntington Drive. Store loss prevention received information that an Assistant Manager and another employee at the business had been committing thefts of store merchandise on Monday evenings, for the past several months. The theft on August 25 was captured on video surveillance cameras. Both suspects admitted to the thefts and were arrested for commercial burglary and taken into custody.
Residential Burglary
On August 27 at 7:26 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of East Walnut Avenue on the report of a burglary. The victim went to work around 8:30 a.m. and returned after 6:00 p.m. She discovered her residence had been broken into and some costume jewelry had been taken; she called police. The residence was slightly ransacked, but it did not appear the suspect had gone through the entire
location. The front door had been pried open. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
On August 27 at 9:10 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive. The victim reported that the rear seats to her Cadillac SUV had been taken within the past 20 minutes. The driver-side door lock was punched and the hatch was opened; the alarm did not activate. Investigation continuing.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
On August 27 at 4:55 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a shoplifter in custody. The suspect entered the business, selected items, and hid them under her clothing. She then walked out of the store without paying for the items and was stopped by loss prevention personnel. The suspect admitted to taking the items. She was arrested and taken into custody. The
suspect also had two warrants for her arrest, which were added to her charges.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant - Suspect Arrested
On August 27 at 5:00 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers observed a known gang member and girlfriend in the Huntington Oaks parking lot who they new had a warrant for his arrest for narcotics. The officers confirmed the warrant and detained the suspect. During a search of his person, a vehicle key was located in his left pocket. The vehicle was located, along with the suspect’s and his girlfriend’s property. There was a marijuana pipe in plain view, and a search of the vehicle revealed a black nylon wallet
containing a methamphetamine pipe and 21 grams of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the warrants.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of August 18-20, 2014

Vehicle Tampering – Suspect Arrested
On August 18 at 7:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of East Olive on the report of a female subject found inside the resident’s vehicle. The owner of the vehicle said tools were missing from the van, but no tools were found on the female subject or near the area where the vehicle was parked. A light was left on in the vehicle, causing the battery to drain. The suspect was arrested for vehicle
tampering.
Vehicle Burglary
On August 18 at 6:36 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a hotel parking lot in the 900 block of West Huntington. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in the parking lot. When he returned to his vehicle, he found the rear seats had been stolen. There was no sign of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto Recovered
On August 20 at 4:15 p.m., police recovered a stolen vehicle from Cypress and Magnolia. The vehicle was reported stolen on August 14 from a business parking lot in the 700 block of East Huntington. The investigation is continuing.

Commercial Burglary – One Count of Felony Burglary Filed Against Suspect
On May 6, 2014, officers investigated a commercial burglary at the location and recovered latent fingerprints. The prints were submitted, which identified a potential suspect who was already in custody on an unrelated case. The suspect was interviewed, but denied committing the crime. The case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office, and one count of felony burglary was filed.
Commercial Burglary – One Suspect Arrested
In July of 2014, two suspects who were fired from a business entered the Home Depot in the 1600 bock of South Mountain and purchased items using their former employer’s business information. The employer recognized the suspects and contacted police. Detectives drove out to the cities of Riverside and Hemet, where they interviewed one of the suspects, who admitted to the crime. He was arrested and brought to Monrovia Police Department for booking. The case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office
and an arrest warrant was obtained for the second suspect, who remains outstanding.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of August 14-17, 2014

Felony Vandalism
On August 14 at 7:42 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Mary Wilcox Center in the 800 block of East Olive regarding a report of vandalism. Recently, juveniles have been seen on the roof of the building. While servicing the air conditioning unit, it was discovered that the radiator coils and aluminum housing had been vandalized. The estimated damage is $ 4000.00. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
On August 14 at 8:39 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 700 block of East Huntington. The vehicle is a brown Honda Accord, and it was stolen sometime after 6:00 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
Attempt Suicide
On August 14 at 10:03 p.m., a female subject called police to report her boyfriend had sent text messages to her and to friends, asking them to say goodbye to all his friends. She also reported that he had attempted suicide in the past. Officers arrived at the location in the 200 block of West Maple.
While officers tried to make contact at the front door, another officer pulled himself up on a wall to look through a window. He observed the subject attempting to hang himself; the subject’s face was flushed. Officers rushed into the location and were able to save the subject. They laid him on his back, allowing him to breathe. Paramedics arrived, treated the subject, and took him to a hospital. The subject was admitted and placed on a 72-hour hold for mental evaluation. If not for the quick actions of the officers in this incident, the subject may have ended his life.
Grand Theft Auto
On August 14 at 10:36 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a hotel parking lot in the 700 block of West Huntington. The vehicle is a truck and trailer with another vehicle inside the trailer. The vehicles were stolen sometime between 8:45 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.  The truck is a white, 2005 Ford F350 with New Mexico plates. It has an oversized bed with a large white fuel tank, metal box, and a faded NASA sticker in the center of the windshield. The trailer is 24 feet long and has a Wells Cargo decal on each side.
Inside the trailer was a black, Chevy Chevelle, #14 race car, with pink color on both doors. All keys are accounted for and there were no physical signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
On August 14 at 10:40 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business parking lot in the 400 block of West Huntington. At 4:00 p.m., the victim parked and locked her white Honda Civic in the parking lot and went into work. When she returned to the vehicle after work at 10:30 p.m., the vehicle was gone. The investigation is continuing.

Violation of Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
On August 14 at 11:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of West Cypress regarding a male subject screaming, hitting walls and throwing things. When officers arrived, the subject had quieted down and was inside the residence. The officers contacted the subject at the door of his residence and could see a female inside the location. The officers asked if they could enter to check on the welfare of the female subject. The male subject allowed them into the residence.
The subject was standing behind the door and seemed to be attempting to hide something in his pocket. Officers could see something bulging inside the subject’s pocket. A pat-down search of his person revealed a blue plastic container with several controlled substances inside. The subject said he was holding the container for someone else. Drug paraphernalia and a loaded rifle were located in plain site inside the location. A computer check revealed the male subject had been served with a criminal protective order and could not be in possession of firearms. He was arrested and taken into custody without further incident for the above listed charges.
Felony Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On August 15 at 3:50 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a restaurant in the 300 block of West Huntington. When they arrived, they recognized the male subject as a known gang member with an outstanding felony warrant. The officers confirmed the warrant and arrested the subject.
Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On August 15 at 4:27 p.m., a business in the 500 block of West Huntington called police regarding a female suspect preparing to steal items from the store. Security watched the suspect enter the changing room with clothes and come out with no items. Officers set up outside the store and waited for the suspect to exit. The suspect was detained outside the store with the stolen items in her possession.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a rental car key, and further investigation revealed possible stolen items and methamphetamine inside the rental vehicle. A computer check of the suspect also revealed she was wanted for a robbery in Orange County.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
August 15 at 9:09 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers stopped a vehicle at Shamrock and Huntington. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
On August 16 at 10:37 a.m., a witness called police to report that a male suspect spray painted a utility pole in the 900 block of California. The witness provided a description of the suspect. Officers responded to the area and detained the suspect, who was positively identified by the witness and was arrested. Officers found graffiti on city property on California, from Royal Oaks to Olive. The witness to this crime was given
Monrovia Police Department’s Graffiti Bounty award of $100 for reporting vandalism which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of August 7-10, 2014

Battery – Suspect Arrested
On August 7 at 6:49 p.m., an officer was contacted by a male subject who stated he was hit in the eye by a homeless person at a park in the 300 block of South Myrtle. The suspect was located and detained. The victim made a private person’s arrest for battery and the suspect was taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
On August 9 at 2:45 a.m., an officer observed a male subject riding a bicycle without a headlamp. When the subject saw the officer, he sped up and rode into an alley behind a business, but he was quickly detained. The subject admitted to having drugs/methamphetamine in his pocket. A computer check revealed he also had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for possession and the two warrants.
Fire Assist
On August 9 at 3:36 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 3300 block of Peck Road regarding a brush fire. Within minutes, the fire had spread to the yard of a nearby business. All employees were evacuated. Several cars caught fire and some palm trees burned.
Fire Assist
On August 10 at 7:31 a.m., dispatch received a call reporting possible smoke from a business in the 300 block of West Huntington. An officer arrived and saw flames break through the roof over the kitchen area of the fast food business. The grease inside the vent caught fire. Monrovia Fire Department responded and put out the fire. There were no injuries. All employees were out of the building upon police arrival.
Fire Assist
On August 10 at 12:17 p.m., Monrovia Fire Department requested assistance for traffic control in the 200 block of East Foothill. Monrovia, Arcadia and Los Angeles County Fire Departments were all at the scene, as the structure was three stories high. Arcadia Fire used their hydraulic ladder to gain access to the roof. The Monrovia Fire Department investigated for the source of smoke.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 31 - August 3, 2014

Commercial Burglary – Suspects Arrested
On July 31 at 11:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain regarding the report of two suspects running from the location that had committed a theft. The suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV that headed northbound on Mountain. The officers located the vehicle in the 400 block of West Maple Avenue, where the two suspects were detained and arrested. The stolen property was
recovered.
Vehicle Burglaries
On the morning of July 31, five vehicle burglaries were reported to police. The burglaries occurred in the 700 block of Cresent Avenue, 200 block of Avocado Place, 100 block of North Garfield Place, and two vehicles were broken into in the 100 block of North Fifth Avenue. The burglaries occurred overnight and in some incidents the vehicle windows were smashed to gain entry. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Marijuana for Sales / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On July 31 at 5:33 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on a one way street and stopped the vehicle. During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana was detected from inside the vehicle, and a computer check revealed the driver had a warrant for his arrest. A search of the vehicle uncovered a large amount of marijuana, along with scales and packaging material. The driver was arrested for the
above listed charges and taken into custody.
Battery
On August 1 at 2:16 p.m., a minor traffic collision occurred on private property at a business in the 1300 block of South Mountain Avenue; one vehicle backed into another vehicle. While the drivers involved were speaking to each other regarding the collision, a passenger from the vehicle that was backing confronted the driver of the other vehicle. The passenger punched the victim several times and then fled the scene. The
entire incident was caught on video surveillance. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
On August 3 at 10:44 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a traffic collision with a vehicle on the sidewalk at Huntington and Shamrock. On arrival, a witness reported that she was walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle jumped the curb onto the sidewalk and nearly hit her. Further investigation determined the driver was under the influence of prescription drugs and marijuana. The driver was arrested.
Special Enforcement Team Activity
Vehicle Pursuit / Suspended Driver’s License / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On July 31 at 8:21 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at Peck and Jeffries, but the vehicle did not yield. Officers went in pursuit of the vehicle and the driver eventually stopped. The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Felony Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On August 2 at 8:30 p.m., a Special Enforcement Team officer was on patrol in the 400 block of West Foothill when he stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation. Through investigation, the officer determined the motorist was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and taken into custody. A computer search revealed the suspect had three previous DUI convictions, including a previous felony DUI conviction. The motorist was charged for felony DUI and held at the Monrovia jail pending his court appearance.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 24-27, 2014

Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On July 24 at 4:01 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of West Foothill when they observed a male subject run out of a grocery store being chased by store loss prevention officers. The subject ran toward a van that was parked south of the business with its sliding door open. The male driver of the vehicle and the subject who ran out of the store were both detained, and the stolen property was recovered. After
investigation, it was determined the two suspects had conspired together to commit the  burglary at the business. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
On July 25 at 10:03 p.m., an officer stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation at Mayflower and Diamond. As he approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana from inside. During a pat-down search, one of the passengers was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued a citation to appear in court.
Driving Under the Influence / Injury Traffic Collision
On July 26 at 12:11 a.m., officers responded to Foothill and El Nido regarding a vehicle that crashed into a light post. The driver was injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The officer saw signs of intoxication, and the driver admitted to having smoked honey oil. DUI Charges will be submitted to the court for filing.
Drunk in Public / Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
On July 26 at 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of South Myrtle regarding an intoxicated female lying by the curb. The female was accompanied by her boyfriend and they were waiting for a cab. The officer arrived and determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for herself as she could not stand. She was arrested and taken into custody for sobering. During a pat-down search, she was found to be in possession of marijuana.
Residential Burglary
On July 26 at 4:16 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of South Encinitas called to report his house had been burglarized. He stated that the crime had occurred between midnight and 3:00 a.m. He was asleep, and awoke to find that his pants, which contained his wallet, camera and a flash drive, were missing from the chair where he had placed them. He noticed that his bedroom window was missing the screen and he
called police. Nothing else seemed to have been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On July 26 at 5:43 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle partially blocking the southbound lane of Bradoaks at Greystone. Officers responded and, after investigation, determined the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving under the influence and was taken into custody.
Drunk in Public / Possession of Tobacco Products / Located Missing – One Suspect Arrested
On July 27 at 12:17 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of West Olive regarding subjects possibly fighting. The officer arrived and saw two subjects walking; one of the subjects was staggering. The subjects were detained. The subject who was staggering was found to be a juvenile. He was extremely intoxicated and was taken to a hospital.
A computer check revealed the juvenile had been reported missing four days ago out of Temple City. Charges will be submitted to the court for filing on the juvenile. The second subject, an adult who was also intoxicated, was arrested and taken into custody for sobering.
Disturbing Subjects / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
On July 28 at 2:42 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting disturbing subjects at an apartment in the 800 block of West Duarte. A male and female were detained. A computer check revealed that both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Both were arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 17-20, 2014

Commercial Burglary / Violation of Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
On July 17 at 11:39 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a theft of items. The suspect fled the location prior to his arrival. Security officers observed the suspect sneak behind the stone pillars to the front of the store. The suspect was trying to covertly enter the location without being seen by employees. Once inside the store, a security officer witnessed the suspect grab several
items and run out. Upon reviewing the surveillance video, the suspect was identified as one of our local transients that just served time in jail for committing thefts at the same location and served with a restraining order. The officer searched the area and located the suspect. The suspect was arrested for burglary and violation of restraining order.
Petty Theft With Prior – Suspect Identified
On July 17 at 12:20 p.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of South Myrtle regarding a bicycle theft. While the officer was reviewing the security video, he identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested prior to this investigation for another unrelated burglary. The suspect is currently in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail. The suspect has prior thefts and will be charged with petty theft with a prior for the
bicycle theft.
Commercial Petty Theft
On July 17 at 3:06 p.m., dispatch received a call from a business in the 500 block of West Huntington reporting a security officer was chasing a male suspect that had possibly stolen some jewelry. The suspect ran east from the location to the rear alley of another business. He got into an awaiting black Lincoln Navigator. There was a second suspect in the driver's seat. The suspect vehicle drove away. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
On July 17 at 7:11 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of Monterey regarding a vandalism report. The victim stated that he parked his vehicle at 11:00 p.m. and upon his return the following morning saw damage to the hood, the left side of the vehicle, and to the windshield. The vehicle's alarm was set but did not activate during the night. The investigation is continuing.

Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
On July 17 at 11:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 Block of West Huntington regarding a fraud report. The suspect was described as female, white in her late 20s to early 30s, with a black sundress, carrying a large beige purse, and having large tattoos on her back and arms. The female completed a transaction and headed to the exit door. She dropped the items she had "purchased" and walked toward a red truck. The red truck left without picking up the suspect.
The truck was stopped by another officer while the suspect headed north through the lot and ran across Huntington Drive where she was detained. The suspect was in possession of fraudulent identification cards and matching Department of Motor Vehicle temporary driver licenses. She was also in possession of methamphetamine and two crack pipes. The suspect was arrested and her two female companions in the truck were also arrested on similar charges.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
On July 18 at 2:45 a.m. dispatch received a call from the 800 block of West Foothill reporting a white Honda Civic that had just hit their parked car. Officers responded and contacted the female driver who exhibited signs of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were conducted and it was determined the female driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.
Vehicle Petty Theft
On July 18 at 6:09 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of South Violet regarding a theft that just occurred. The victim is a contractor and was doing work at the location. The victim went outside the residence and observed a truck park south of his location. The two male occupants exited their vehicle and stood next to the vehicle. The victim went inside to continue working when a witness informed him someone was taking his equipment. As he went outside, he saw one of the suspects that had exited the truck
taking his compressor. The suspect vehicle is a black Ford Ranger. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
On July 19 at 7:25 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 100 block of James Town when he observed a garage door open with no vehicles in the area. Further investigation revealed the power on the house had been turned off and the inside was ransacked with open drawers and jewelry on the ground. The owner of the residence was contacted and responded home for the investigation.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekdays of July 14-16, 2014

Grand Theft
On July 14 at 2:01 p.m., a grand theft in the 700 block of West Huntington Drive was reported to police. Construction is being done on the street and at the end of the work week last week, the construction crew covered the open trenches with two steel plates. When they arrived at work the next week, the plates were gone. Each sheet is 4 feet by  8 feet and they are worth $1000 each. The investigation is continuing.
Juvenile Problem
On July 15 at 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Royal Oaks to look for a female juvenile who had run away from the residence. A description was obtained and the female was located a few blocks away. Officers counseled the juvenile, returned her to her residence and spoke with the parent. Approximately three hours later, the parent phoned police, reporting she and the juvenile had argued and the
juvenile had left the r esidence again.
Officers again located the juvenile, and after speaking with her, determined she needed to be held for mental evaluation. She was taken to a hospital, where she was held for observation and treatment.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
July 16 at 3:50 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Beechworth regarding a suspicious male subject sleeping in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they saw a male subject lying in the backseat of a vehicle. The subject reached for a purse on the floor, as if he was attempting to conceal it. He told the officers the purse belonged to a female that was with him, but she was currently visiting a friend at one of the residences.
The male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant. A search of the purse revealed methamphetamine and pipes. While officers were dealing with the male subject, the female who owns the purse returned and approached the officers. She was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding warrant.
Under the Influence of a  Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
On July 16 at 7:52 p.m., officers responded to the report of suspicious subjects in a park  located in the 400 block of North Grand. Officers arrived, located the subject and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Detective Bureau Case Follow-up
Grand Theft Auto – Felony Charges Filed
On July 12 at 7:19 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers observed a suspicious vehicle and driver in the area of Encino and Huntington. They followed the vehicle until it drove into a driveway in the 1800 block of Encino. A check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was stolen. The officers approached the car and driver, but the driver ran inside the house at the location and hid. The suspect was eventually located
and arrested.
During the course of the investigation, another stolen vehicle was found  at the location. Interviewing the residents revealed another suspect at the home, and both suspects were arrested. After follow-up by the Detective Bureau, the case was taken to the District Attorney and felony charges were filed.
Grand Theft / Forgery/ Receiving Stolen Property – Five Felony Counts Filed
On July 14 at 9:30 a.m., Monrovia Special Enforcement Team officers provided information about a subject with a no-bail warrant for his arrest to the San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Task Force, which has an officer from Monrovia Police Department assigned to it. The task force tracked the wanted subject to a location in Pasadena.
During the contact with the wanted subject, he was found to be in possession of credit card blanks
and stolen credit card numbers. A second room at a different location was determined to be involved, so Monrovia Police Department Forgery/ Fraud Detectives responded and searched the room. A credit card embossing machine was also found. After questioning, it was determined the suspect had been making fake credit/gift cards using illegally obtained account numbers.
The suspect was arrested and booked. The case was presented to the District Attorney’s office and five felony counts were filed. It was the great collaborative work by task force members, Special Enforcement Team members, and detectives that brought about this successful apprehension, arrest and filing.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 3-6, 2014

Structure Fire
July 4 at 6:58 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 600 block of West Lime when he noticed smoke emitting from a residence. As he approached, he noticed a two story detached garage was on fire. The Monrovia Fire Department was notified and responded. Adjacent residents were evacuated while the fire was extinguished. The second story sustained severe damage.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery – Suspect Arrested
July 4 at 11:26 p.m., police received information and responded on the report of a possible stolen vehicle in the area of Monterey and Chestnut. The vehicle was reported as a white Ford Mustang with paper plates. Officers located a vehicle matching the description in a parking lot and observed the vehicle for a while. A female subject was seen getting into the vehicle and driving away. Officers observed a traffic violation and
conducted a traffic stop. A computer check was run on the vehicle's identification number and it was confirmed that it was a reported stolen out of Ontario. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Suspicious Package
July 5 at 11:40 p.m., two residents called police to report a suspicious package that was left in the middle of the street in the 200 block of North Mayflower. Officers arrived and found a briefcase in the middle of the street. It appeared that someone may have deliberately left the case. As a precaution, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was notified and responded. They X-rayed the briefcase and
determined it contained an old typewriter.
Hot Prowl Burglary
July 6 at 1:13 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of North Ivy called police to report a burglar in her house. She was asleep when she heard a creeping sound on her wood floors and noticed a light in her room. She sat up in bed and noticed a dark round object on the floor next to her bed. Suddenly, a man wearing all black clothing stood up. She screamed and the suspect fled the room. The resident locked her bedroom
door and yelled she was calling the police. Officers arrived and noticed the front door was wide open. An area search was conducted, but the suspect was not located.
There was no loss. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
July 6 at 1:26 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of West Cypress on the report of domestic violence. The call was transferred from the CHP. A female was heard crying and was in an altercation with her husband. The phone was disconnected by the victim. When Monrovia dispatch called the number back, a child answered the phone and said the mother and father were fighting. The child said the
father hurt the mother and she was bleeding on one of her fingers. Further investigation revealed the mother and father were both threatening to leave the house and started to fight over the car keys. During the fight, the father bit the mother on the hand. The father was arrested for domestic violence and was served with an emergency protective order.
Residential Burglary
July 6 at 7:16 p.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Winding Oak called police to report a burglary at his home. He had locked his house and left for a weekend vacation. Upon his return home, he discovered the back bathroom door and a sliding glass door wide open. The house had been ransacked. Officers responded to investigate the burglary. The resident's flat screen television, laptop computer and Sony PlayStation were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
July 6 at 11:49 p.m., an alarm company called police to report that a burglary alarm at a business in the 100 block of West Duarte Road had been activated. Officers responded and discovered the front door to the business was open. They searched the building and determined the business had been burglarized. The owner of the business was notified. The cash registers had been forced open; however, the owner said no money was kept in the registers. An area search was conducted, but no suspects were located. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 7 at 2:52 a.m., an officer on patrol was driving east on Huntington, passing Mountain, when he saw a female walking in the middle of the street. He told her to move out of the street and she responded and walked to the center raised median. The officer made a u-turn and was driving back west on Huntington. The same female stepped out in front of the patrol car, causing the officer to brake rapidly. He ordered
the female to the sidewalk, where he was going to issue her a citation. A computer check revealed she was on active probation for assaulting a peace officer and she was subject to search. The female consented to having her purse searched, and a small bag of methamphetamine was found. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of June 26-29, 2014

Found Elderly Couple
On June 28 at 10:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Mountain regarding an elderly couple inside a truck continuously hitting and running over the curb with their vehicle for approximately 2 hours. Officers arrived and found an 87 and 85 year old married couple. The female believed she was in Oakland and the male did not know where he was. Their son was eventually located in Apple Valley however, could not drive to Monrovia to pick-up his parents. An officer drove the couple home and Adult
Protective Services were notified.
Warrant – Suspect Arrest
On June 29 at 1:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Royal Oaks, where a male was reportedly hitting a female in the complex's parking lot. When officers arrived they determined the two were cousins and had only been yelling at each other. A computer check revealed the male subject had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
On June 29 at 2:28 a.m., officers responded to the rear parking lot located in the 300 block of South Myrtle regarding a male and female possibly fighting. When officers arrived, they found a male, who was so intoxicated he could hardly stand up. After investigating whether they had been fighting or not, it was determined they had not been. The male was arrested for being drunk in public.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On June 29 at 4:45 a.m., a silver car was stopped at Maple and Primrose for a traffic violation. The officer approached the driver and could smell alcohol on the driver's breath. Field sobriety tests were conducted and it was determined the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.
Outside Assist /Missing Person - Located
On June 29 at 7:20 a.m., dispatch received a call regarding a missing 32 year old female who resides in Pasadena. The missing person told her family she was going hiking Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 a.m., in Monrovia with a co-worker. The family made a missing persons report with Pasadena Police Department when she didn’t return home and she wasn’t answering her cell phone. The missing person left home in her dark grey, Honda Accord. Monrovia Park Rangers were notified and a thorough search was conducted for the Honda, but it was not found. At 1:50 p.m. we received a call from the family stating the missing hiker was located, she was spending time with a friend and had left her cell phone in her vehicle.

Robbery – Suspect Sentenced
A twenty year old male who has been arrested numerous times for theft and other narcotics offenses was sentenced to five years in state prison this past week for a  robbery he committed in May at the Pavilions market. This was a culmination of the collaborative effort of the patrol officers, loss prevention officers and the work of Detectives to finally get a habitual offender off the streets.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of June 9-11, 2014

Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Resisting Arrest Causing Injury –
Suspect Arrested
On June 9 at 9:34 a.m., officers responded to Myrtle and Huntington regarding a male subject walking in and out of traffic. Officers arrived and located the subject, who was exhibiting signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. When officers attempted to arrest him, he pulled away and a struggle ensued. The suspect was taken into custody. One of the officers was injured in the incident.
Residential Burglary
On June 9 at 10:32 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of Ranchito Road. The residents left for work at different times. When they returned from work, they found their dogs had been separated and locked separate rooms. The master bedroom was ransacked, and a wallet and jewelry was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
On June 9 at 2:17 p.m., a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain called police to report a burglary that had just occurred. A male suspect walked in and selected electrical switches. He walked past open registers and exited without paying. He fled in a waiting vehicle. An employee of the business took a photo of the vehicle, which turned out to be a rental. The officer obtained the name of the renter. A DMV photo
was obtained and compared to photos provided by the business. The suspect was positively identified and a wanted person entry was made into the law enforcement system computer for the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On June 9 at 7:24 p.m., an officer was on patrol in a shopping center in the 500 block of West Huntington. An employee of a business ran outside and reported a theft that just occurred. The employee provided a description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle. Another officer in the area located the suspect vehicle, parked, with the suspect seated in the right, front passenger seat. The suspect was detained and arrested for
commercial burglary. The store merchandise was recovered from the suspect vehicle and returned.
Warrant / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
June 10 at 2:58 a.m., an officer on patrol near Myrtle and Pomona observed suspicious subjects walking around in the area. Officers detained one of the subjects and determined she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The suspect was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Grand Theft
On June 10 at 1:20 p.m., the victim of a grand theft came to the police department lobby to report the crime. The victim parked his vehicle, a 2002 Honda Accord, across the street from his residence in the 100 block of South Madison. When he returned to the vehicle, he started it up and heard a loud noise. He looked under the car and saw the exhaust pipe had been cut and the catalytic converter was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
On June 10 at 7:34 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a disturbing subject. The subject entered the store the day before and caused a disturbance by yelling and throwing trash on the floor. The subject had now returned to the location and continued his bizarre behavior. The subject refused to leave, as requested by store management and was placed on a private person's arrest for trespassing. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation to appear in court.
Traffic Collision with Injuries
On June 11 at 5:48 a.m., an officer responded to Evergreen and Myrtle regarding a traffic collision. It appears the drivers of a big rig truck and a motorcycle were both attempting to make a right turn from Evergreen to southbound Myrtle. The motorcycle was attempting to make the turn by passing the big rig on the right. The motorcycle was hit by the trailer of the big rig and dragged a short distance. The motorcycle rider sustained a broken right leg and some minor abrasions. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Theft from a Vehicle
On June 11 at 8:09 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Orange Avenue. The victim’s GPS was taken from his work van sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
