Highlighted Activity for July 27-30, 2017

Attempt Residential Burglary
July 27at 8:48 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of N. May called police to report two suspicious subjects on the side of her neighbor’s home. The resident was washing her vehicle in her driveway and watched the subjects look into the home and remove the window screen. The subjects fled east on Prospect in a silver 4 door vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery – Suspect Arrested
July 27 at 5:10 p.m., officers on patrol in the 2000 block of South Myrtle located a stolen vehicle. The officers made a traffic stop and detained two female suspects. The driver was detained and taken into custody.
Weapon Offense / Suspended License – Suspect Arrested
July 27 at 10:28 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Lime and Canyon stopped a motorcyclist for a vehicle code violation. The motorcyclist had a passenger not wearing a helmet. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a firearm in a compartment of the motorcycle and neither the driver or the passenger had a valid license.
Vehicle Burglary
July 28 at 3:28 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 900 block of W. Huntington Dr. regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and locked her vehicle and went into the establishment to eat lunch. She returned about an hour later to find her vehicle window had been shattered, no loss could be determined. The investigation is continuing.
Elder Abuse
July 28 at 3:40 p.m., officers responded an elder abuse call. The hospital called the police to report an elderly woman was being treated for a back injury caused by a family member and an Adult Protective Services referral was being completed. Officers made contact with the victim who said her son pushed her causing her to fall. The investigation is ongoing.
Warrant / Possession Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
July 29 at 3:34 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of W. Duarte and noticed
a vehicle with a broken tail lamp. The officer stopped the vehicle for the violation and
further investigation revealed the driver had a no bail warrant and had
methamphetamine in his possession. The suspect was taken into custody and booked.
Vehicle Burglary
July 29 at 11:16 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 300 block of Grand. The
victim parked and locked his vehicle in front of his home on July 27. When he returned
to his vehicle, he noticed his third row seat had been stolen from his vehicle. No
witnesses, forced entry or evidence was found. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
July 29 at 6:56 p.m., a domestic violence incident was reported in the 1000 block of
Orange. Officers arrived and determined a male subject at the residence was the
primary aggressor. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary
July 30 at 8:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of W.
Huntington on the report of a burglary. The employee arrived for work in the morning
and noticed the front window was smashed. The officers conducted an interior check
and discovered someone tried to open the safe, possibly with a sledge hammer. No
loss was noted other than the broken window. The investigation is continuing
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
July 30 at 1:50 p.m., a theft of an antique bicycle was reported by employees at a
business in the 400 block of S. Myrtle. An area search was done and an officer noticed
a female in the area of Maple and Primrose with a bicycle wheel. Apparently the tires
did not have any air in them and the suspect approached a local business owner asking
to help put air in them. The officer arrested the female who was later cited and
released.
Residential Burglary
July 30 at 6:26 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of N. Sunset.
The resident had an open house and during the open house a ring, one thousand
dollars and some credit cards were stolen. The investigation is on-going.
Vehicle Burglary
July 30 at 8:13 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of E. Olive. The
victim locked her vehicle, but left a window slightly down and walked to the skate park.
A few minutes later she saw some subjects loitering near her vehicle. When she walked
towards them, they got into a vehicle and fled. Her iPhone 7 was stolen from inside her
vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.
Theft / Traffic Offense – Suspect Arrested
July 31 at 12:37 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 700 block of E. Huntington stopped a
bicyclist for a vehicle code violation. Further investigation revealed the subject was in
possession of a stolen credit card. The suspect was taken into custody and booked.
Resisting / Delaying – Suspect Arrested
July 31 at 4:02 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of California and Lemon conducted
a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. The driver was showing symptoms of being
under the influence. When the officer asked him to exit the vehicle, the subject would
not comply and began reaching for the center console. Officers ordered the subject out
of the vehicle and as soon as he exited the vehicle, he attempted to run and became
resistive as the officers tried to detain him. The suspect was apprehended, arrested and
booked.

Highlighted Activity for March 2-5, 2017

Battery / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
March 2 at 5:29 p.m., dispatch received several calls reporting two male adults fighting in the 100 block of Norumbega Drive. Officers arrived and located one male adult, and while speaking with him, discovered he was on probation. During a pat-down search, he was found to have drug paraphernalia in his possession. Another officer located the second male suspect nearby, who was found to have several warrants. While speaking with the second suspect, a female approached. She was found to have several warrants and had methamphetamine in her possession. All three suspects were arrested.
Theft From a Vehicle
March 2 at 7:25 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 900 block of Crescent. The vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway with the doors unlocked. The suspect entered the vehicle and took a backpack containing miscellaneous school supplies and a bag containing clothing that was going to be donated. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 3 at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the report of a male adult slumped over the wheel of a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Linwood Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and an adult male inside, who was unresponsive. The officers made entry into the vehicle and saw a loaded syringe sticking out of the inner thigh of the driver. Officers were able to revive the subject, who admitted to being addicted to heroin. The suspect was arrested and the vehicle was stored.
Defrauding an Innkeeper
March 3 at 10:14 p.m., a male subject ordered a dinner meal at a restaurant in the 800 block of W. Huntington and then left the location without paying. The investigation is continuing.

March 3 at 11:27 p.m., a male subject ordered food at a restaurant in the 1100 block of
E. Huntington and was unhappy with the order. He was given a discount on his bill, but
still left the location without paying. The investigation is continuing.
Suspicious Subject / Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect
Arrested
March 4 at 12:54 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of W. Huntington regarding
the report of a suspicious subject in the area. They arrived and contacted the subject. A
computer check revealed he had an outstanding warrant and he was arrested. While
searching the suspect, he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Weapons Offense
March 4 at 11:13 a.m., a security guard from a business in the 100 block of W. Foothill
flagged down an officer who was driving by on Myrtle. He informed the officer that a
subject in a silver charger had just sped through the parking lot and almost hit him. The
officer turned into the parking area to look for the vehicle and was stopped by a patron,
who reported that the same subject in the silver charger had tossed a handgun out of
the vehicle window as it sped through the parking lot. The officer recovered the weapon,
which was not registered, and an extensive search was conducted for the vehicle, but it
was not located. Neighboring agencies were contacted to see if they had any reports of
a recent shooting. The investigation is continuing.
Battery / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
March 4 at 3:04 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Norumbega
on the report of a family disturbance. Officers arrived and separated three adults and
spoke with them. They were all disruptive and combative with each other. One subject
was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and a second was arrested for
battery.
Counterfeit Currency / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 4 at 4:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Huntington on the
report of subjects bathing outside. The officers arrived and located several subjects
possibly involved in the reported activity. While speaking with the subjects, the officers
located counterfeit U.S. currency belonging to one of the subjects. He was arrested and
taken into custody. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 4 at 10:07 p.m., an intoxicated female in a vehicle was reported at a business
parking lot in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. Officers arrived and located the subject.
After investigation, the female driver was arrested for driving under the influence and
was taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
March 5 at 12:24 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the
900 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot and when
she returned, she found the driver side window had been shattered and her purse,
which she left in the vehicle, was gone. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 5 at 6:15 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Royal Oaks.
The resident parked and locked her vehicle in front of her home. She looked out the
window and noticed a subject standing by her vehicle and pulling a toolbox from the
back seat. The suspect fled in a vehicle. The victim went out to her vehicle and found
the rear window had been smashed, allowing the suspect to gain access. The
investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
March 5 at 12:19 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of N. Myrtle called police to report a
vandalism incident. Sometime during the early morning hours, an unknown suspect
shattered the front passenger side window of his parked vehicle. No property appeared
to have been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
March 5 at 12:55 p.m., a resident in the 700 block of W. Foothill parked his vehicle in
front of his apartment complex and went in for the night. When he returned in the
morning, he found one of his tires had been slashed with a sharp object. The
investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
March 5 at 7:57 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at Myrtle and Duarte Road. The
two vehicles involved were traveling north on Myrtle, approaching Duarte, when the lead
vehicle slowed down for the red light and was rear ended by the second vehicle. The
drivers pulled into a parking lot to exchange information. Officers arrived and contacted
the drivers. The driver who rear ended the other vehicle was determined to be driving
under the influence and was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Public Intoxication
March 5 at 9:21 p.m., a caller reported a male subject at Myrtle and Central trying to get
into vehicles in the area. Officers arrived and located the subject. He was determined to
be extremely intoxicated and unable to care for his own safety. He was arrested for
public intoxication.
Vandalism
March 5 at 9:24 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported at a residence in the 400 block
of Almond. A white, late 1990's Jeep Cherokee was seen pulling up to the home and
two teenage male suspects exited. They walked up to the victim's truck and broke a
window, then walked up the driveway and broke a window on the victim's Toyota
Camry. They fled in their vehicle. The suspects never tried to get into the vehicles to
take anything. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 31 – November 2, 2016


Grand Theft Auto
October 31 at 3:08 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 3300 block of S. Peck Road. The vehicle stolen is a 1990's Honda Civic. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
November 1 at 7:45 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of East Pomona called police to report a theft. The catalytic converter was stolen off his 2005 Toyota Camry. The victim parked his vehicle in front of his residence in the evening. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning and started his car, he heard a loud and unusual engine noise coming from his vehicle. He checked and discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales / Weapon Offense – Suspects Arrested
November 1 at 9:47 a.m., an officer conducted a probation compliance search on a female subject that was staying in a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington. A male subject was also staying in the hotel room. During the search of the room, the officers located a loaded firearm, almost two pounds of methamphetamine, a vial of PCP, over $2000 in cash, and drug sales paraphernalia. The male subject was determined to be an ex-felon who was currently out on bail for a Monrovia Police Department drug sales case. The officer arrested both subjects for possession for sales of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and several other weapon and drug related charges. Both subjects were held pending their court appearance.
Fraud / Possession of Counterfeit Currency – Suspect Arrested
November 1 at 4:54 p.m., a bank in the 500 block of S. Myrtle called police to report a fraud incident. A male suspect went into the bank and attempted to cash a fraudulent business check for $7000. Officers were dispatched to the bank and they detained the suspect. The officer arrested the suspect for attempting to pass a fraudulent check. The officer searched the suspect after arresting him and found a counterfeit $20 bill in his wallet. The suspect was also charged with possession of counterfeit currency.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 2:55 a.m., an officer on patrol contacted two suspicious subjects loitering near closed businesses in the 1800 block of Santa Fe Place. A consent search of one of the subjects revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:00 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of W. Colorado when they observed a male and female subject in a vehicle. The officer recognized the male passenger and knew he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer stopped the vehicle and the male passenger fled on foot from the vehicle, leaving the female behind. The officer broadcast the information on his location and the fleeing suspect. He then contacted the female, who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and possible stolen property. She was arrested for the charges. The male subject was not located.
Vehicle Burglary
November 2 at 9:10 a.m., officers responded to a hotel in the 900 block of W. Huntington Drive on the report of a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and secured his vehicle in the parking lot on November 1. When he returned to his vehicle the next day, he saw the rear hatch door had been pried open and the third-row seat had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:25 a.m., police located a stolen vehicle in the area of Myrtle and Chestnut and stopped the vehicle at Huntington and Mayflower. The driver was found to be a parolee at large. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspects Arrested
November 2 at 3:25 p.m., a petty theft was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. A male and female entered the business and concealed items on their person while inside the store. They both exited the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention personnel stopped and detained them. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 6:39 p.m., employees at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain saw a subject exit the rear security doors of the store and throw a drill over a wall. The subject eventually exited the store, recovered the drill and walked away from the location. Officers located the suspect one block away and recovered the stolen power drill. The suspect was positively identified by the witnesses and was arrested.
Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 8:48 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a male adult for traffic violations. The driver had a loaded pistol in his waistband. He stated that he was a security guard, but he did not have a permit to carry a loaded firearm. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 9:36 p.m., a possible drunk driver was reported at Myrtle and Camino Real. Officers responded and located the vehicle traveling north on Myrtle at Central. They saw the driver crash into the center divider. Monrovia Fire Department paramedics responded and the driver was taken to the hospital. After the driver was medically cleared, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
Battery
November 2 at 10:40 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of E. Cherry regarding several neighbors fighting in the alley. After interviewing the involved parties, the victim made a citizen's arrest of the suspect. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
November 2 at 11:38 p.m., while conducting extra patrol in the 100 block of W. Cherry, officers located a subject inside a parked car. The male adult is a known drug addict and told officers he had syringes in his possession. A search of the subject revealed baggies of methamphetamine and heroin. The suspect was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody for the drug charges.
Driving Under the Influence / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
November 3 at 4:02 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle saw a vehicle drive off the freeway and strike the center divider as he attempted to turn onto Myrtle. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. The passenger would not cooperate with the officer and refused to exit the vehicle; he was arrested for resisting/delaying an investigation. The driver was arrested for DUI and unsafe turning movement. The passenger was arrested for delaying an investigation.

Highlighted Activity for July 4-6, 2016


Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
July 4 at 10:46 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Lime and California when they saw three male subjects walking south on California. One of the subjects was attempting to conceal something under his clothing near his waistband. As the male adjusted his clothing, the officer could see a hard unknown object under his shirt. The officer asked the subject what he had concealed, but the subject did not respond and continued to walk towards them. Fearing the subject had a weapon, the officer drew his duty weapon and ordered the subject to stop. The subject put his arms in the air and said he had a knife. The subject was found to have a 14-inch knife concealed under his clothing. The suspect was taken into custody for felony possession of a weapon.
Burglary – Suspects Arrested
July 5 at 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to a storage facility in the 2100 block of S. Myrtle regarding a burglary in progress. The caller reported hearing what sounded like someone drilling and breaking into the storage units. When the officers arrived, they discovered one of the suspects sitting in a parked vehicle and another was located hiding on the property. The suspect was wearing gloves and was in possession of a drill and additional burglary tools. Further investigation revealed the suspect inside the property was using a drill and burglary tools to open storage shed locks. The suspects had cut the vehicle gate lock to enter the property. They were arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
July 6 at 12:09 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of W. Hillcrest when he noticed a red Toyota traveling west on Colorado approaching Fifth Avenue. The Toyota was following too close behind the vehicle in front of it, weaving back and forth. The officer followed and stopped the driver of the Toyota. He approached the female, adult driver and, after further investigation, he determined she was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for DUI.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
July 7 at 12:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to a nearby hospital regarding a domestic violence incident that occurred in the 1000 block of Winding Oak Lane. A male and female adult who are in a dating relationship were at the male subject’s home when they began to argue. The male picked up a broken glass bottle and threw it at the female. The bottle struck the female, causing a cut. The female went to a nearby hospital to have her injury treated and the hospital called the police. After further investigation, the male suspect was located and arrested for domestic violence.

Highlighted Activity for March 17-20, 2016


Vehicle Burglary
March 17 at 4:33 p.m., the victim of a vehicle burglary came to the police department lobby to file a report. The victim parked her vehicle in a parking lot in the 800 block of West Colorado. When she returned, her purse was missing from inside the vehicle. The victim believes she locked the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 17 at 5:18 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 500 block of S. Shamrock. The front passenger-side window was smashed and a handbag, tablet and other miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 12:17 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of West Lemon called police to report a male subject on his lawn. Officers arrived and located a male subject wandering around in the area that matched the description. The subject was intoxicated and did not know where he was. The officers determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 12:50 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a male subject stumbling down the street. He stopped the subject to check on his welfare and determined he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The subject was arrested and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 1:50 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation, and while speaking with the driver, the officer could smell alcohol. After field sobriety tests were performed, it was determined the subject was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 18 at 4:41 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Norumbega regarding the report of drug activity at the location. The resident gave the officers consent to search the location and officers found drug paraphernalia. A female subject admitted the items were hers and she was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Receiving Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
March 19 at 12:56 a.m., officers detained a subject walking through a park in the 700 block of E. Lemon after it was closed. The subject was walking with a bike that had an address and a phone number on it. The officers phoned and spoke to the owner of the bike, who reported his bike had been stolen. The subject was arrested for receiving stolen property and taken into custody.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Weapons Offenses – Five Suspects Arrested
March 19 at 10:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding foot traffic in and out of one of the rooms. Hotel employees suspected possible prostitution. The subjects had also set off the fire alarm in the room earlier in the week and marijuana was smelled coming from the room. When officers arrived, they contacted two males and one female in the room. The female and one of the male subjects are known gang members. The other male is a known drug user and burglar from prior police contacts in Monrovia. The subject who rented the room was not present. Drug paraphernalia and an empty Beretta handgun case were located in the room. The three subjects in the room were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
As one of the officers was leaving the hotel, he saw another known local drug user pumping gas into a vehicle at a gas station across the street. There was a male and female seated in the vehicle. A computer check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was registered to the subject who rented the room at the hotel. Officers detained all three subjects. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Beretta handgun, a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and cash. A total of 5 suspects were arrested for drug and weapon related charges in this incident.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 19 at 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check of a female subject in the area of Myrtle and Chestnut. Officers located the female subject matching the reported description and determined she had been drinking and was not capable of taking care of herself. She was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Vandalism
March 20 at 10:25 a.m., the vice principal at the high school in the 800 block of Colorado called police to report vandalism of school property. Someone had spray painted gang related graffiti on several buildings. The vandalism occurred sometime over the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
March 20 at 5:12 p.m., an officer saw a male subject he recognized walking down the sidewalk in the 600 block of S. Mountain. The officer knew the subject had a warrant for
his arrest. A computer check confirmed the warrant for his arrest with a bail set at $100,000 for driving without a license. The subject was arrested for the warrant.

Highlighted Activity for February 8-10, 2016


Grand Theft Auto
February 8 at 9:17 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Genoa. The vehicle is a green, 2-door, 1997 Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing.
Hit & Run Traffic Collision
February 8 at 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the report of a hit and run traffic collision in the 300 block of South Shamrock. A vehicle traveling north on Shamrock struck a parked vehicle and fled the area. The suspect vehicle was possibly red or burgandy in color. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
February 9 at 2:16 a.m., the victim of a grand theft auto reported her vehicle was taken by her grandaughter, who resides with her. The suspect told her grandmother over the phone that she was in Los Angeles. The vehicle is a silver, 2011 Buick Regal. The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement stolen vehicle system and the juvenile suspect was entered as a missing/runaway. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
February 9 at 2:51 a.m., a suspicous person, possibly involved in drug activity, was reported in the area of a business in the 100 block of West Foothill. Officers responded, contacted the subject, and a computer check revealed he had two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for the warrants and was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernaila.
Commercial Burglary
February 9 at 4:35 a.m., police received numerous calls reporting a burglary in progress at a business in the 100 block of East Huntington. The reporting parties were employees at the business location. They reported that a male suspect broke the glass to the front doors and entered the building, triggering the alarm. Officers arrived on

Grand Theft Auto
February 9 at 6:48 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Orange Avenue. The victim was on vacation and had left her vehicle parked at her residence. When she returned, she noticed her vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle is a white, 4-door, 2011 Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing.
Defrauding the DMV – Suspect Arrested
February 9 at 9:48 p.m., an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle traveling west with its emergency flashers on in the 700 block of West Huntington. The officer completed a computer check of the vehicle, which revealed the registration had been expired since 2009, but there was a 2016 registration sticker on the license plate. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, who admitted to defrauding the DMV. The registration tab was from another vehicle he owned. The driver received a citation to appear in court on the charges and was released in the field. The vehicle was impounded for expired registration.
Trespassing/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance/Violation of Gang Injunction Court Order – Suspect Arrested
February 9 at 11:51 p.m., police responded to a business in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a subject observed by security personnel climbing to the roof of the location. Officers arrived and, with the assistance of a police helicopter, located the subject on the roof. The officers climbed the fire access ladder and detained the subject. A Monrovia Fire Department ladder truck was called to assist in lowering the suspect and officers from the rooftop. The subject was arrested for trespassing. He was also determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and in violation of the gang injunction court order, which were added to his charges.
Possession of Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
February 10 at 4:03 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of South Mountain and recognized a subject riding a bicycle that was very similar to one that had been stolen the previous day. The officer stopped the bicyclist and confirmed the bike was in fact stolen. The suspect was arrested for being in possession of stolen property and taken into custody. The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Warrants – Suspect Arrested
February 10 at 4:12 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Hurstview regarding a subject causing a disturbance. The subject was banging on his neighbor’s door. The subject could not give a reason why he was causing the disturbance. He was found to have several outstanding warrants. He was arrested for the warrants and taken into custody.
Weapons Offense
February 10 at 9:50 p.m., a victim used the ATM at a bank in the 100 block of West Foothill. He then drove west in the parking lot, toward Primrose. He stopped at a stop sign in the parking lot and a vehicle traveling east abruptly turned left in front of the victim. The suspect in other vehicle started yelling at the victim through the open passenger window. The victim could not hear what was being said, so he exited his car and approached the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic firearm and threatened to shoot the victim. The suspect then fled east on Foothill out of sight.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic in his 20's, wearing a white, short-sleeved t-shirt, dark pants, with short hair and was unshaven. He also had several tattoos on one or both of his arms. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or gold sedan, possibly a Chevy Malibu. The victim wrote down a license plate, but it returned to a salvaged vehicle. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for January 25-27, 2016

Vehicle Burglary
January 25 at 7:00 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 800 block of West Olive. An unknown suspect smashed a window on the vehicle to gain entry and stole six pairs of shoes that were left in the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
January 25 at 9:05 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Montana on the report of a stolen motorcycle. The victim parked his Harley Davidson motorcycle on the street in front of the location. The victim’s girlfriend noticed the motorcycle was missing at 9:00 a.m. She checked the surveillance camera and could see a male Hispanic subject get on the motorcycle and ride away. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
January 25 at 12:44 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 500 block of South Madison. Unknown suspects broke into the vehicle and took a GPS and tools that were left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Stop/Weapons Offense/Warrant – Suspects Arrested
January 26 at 2:15 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. As the officer approached, he smelled marijuana in the vehicle and obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver. A loaded firearm was located in the trunk of the vehicle and the driver, who admitted it belonged to her, was arrested for the weapons violation. One passenger was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.
Traffic Collision
January 27 at 10:47 a.m., police responded to the report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. An elderly women stepped onto the street in the crosswalk against the red hand signal and was struck by a vehicle making a right turn onto southbound Mountain. She suffered a broken elbow and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Vehicle Burglary
December 21 at 4:10 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of Poinsettia Avenue. The lock securing the doors on the bed of a utility truck were cut and miscellaneous power and cordless tools were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 21 at 6:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to the rear of a business location in the 200 block of West Foothill regarding an ongoing problem of homeless persons sleeping on the property. A subject was located sleeping on the property. He was heavily intoxicated and unable to care for himself. A computer check revealed the subject also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, held for a sobering period, and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
December 21 at 8:49 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of East Olive regarding a family disturbance between a husband and wife. The husband was intoxicated, but agreed to sleep in his vehicle for the night. As the officers were about to leave, the husband became uncooperative. Due to his high level of intoxication, he was arrested for being drunk in public. He was held for a sobering period and later released on a citation to appear in court.
Vehicle Burglary
December 22 at 7:52 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of South Alta Vista. The victim parked his vehicle in the carport of his secured apartment complex the night before. When he returned to his vehicle in the morning, he found the passenger window broken and his stereo missing. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
December 22 at 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Lemon regarding a traffic collision. The driver was traveling east on Lemon and reached for her
cell phone, causing her to veer to the right and hit a parked vehicle. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and her vehicle was impounded. She was held for a sobering period and later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
December 22 at 10:30 p.m., officers were sent to the area of Foothill and Norumbega regarding a traffic collision. The driver was traveling south on Norumbega and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Foothill. His vehicle traveled across all four lanes of traffic and collided into a parked vehicle. The driver demonstrated symptoms of being intoxicated and was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The suspect was held for a sobering period and later released with a citation to appear in court.

December 23 at 7:52 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of South Alta Vista. The victim left his vehicle parked in the carport of his secured apartment complex in the evening. When he returned to his vehicle the next morning, he found the passenger window shattered and his stereo had been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence
December 23 at 11:40 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of West Huntington on the report of an assault in progress. The subjects reportedly left the area on foot and headed south on Magnolia. Officers located the subjects in the 1400 block of South Magnolia. The subjects are boyfriend and girlfriend, and they were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation. The female subject was arrested for domestic violence.
Weapon Offenses / Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
December 25 at 4:34 a.m., officers on patrol initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Colorado for a traffic violation. As a result of the stop, the driver of the vehicle was arrested for having a loaded pistol and narcotics in the vehicle.
Structure Fire/Arson
December 26 at 2:40 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to a structure fire at a private warehouse in the 300 block of West Chestnut used to store classic vehicles. Further investigation led officers to believe the fire began due to arson. One male adult family member was named as the suspect. The suspect committed suicide at his home in Glendale. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collision/Vehicle vs. Pedestrian
December 26 at 1:52 p.m., police responded to a traffic collision at Los Angeles & Ivy. A 12-year-old girl ran into the street and was struck by a vehicle. She sustained minor
injuries, but complained of pain to her neck and back. She was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Vandalism
December 26 at 10:07 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 500 block of Diamond. A resident in the area reported graffiti spray painted on the side of his house. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
December 26 at 10:34 p.m., officers located graffiti in the 1800 block of South Myrtle. The officers noticed fresh graffiti all throughout the parking lot, windows and walls of buildings. The investigation is continuing.
Fire Assist
December 26 at 11:38 p.m., officers responded to the report of a fire next to a residence in the 500 block of Normubega. An officer arrived and located a tree and a trashcan that were on fire. The officer put out the fire with the fire extinguisher from his police unit.

Highlighted Activity for August 10-12, 2015


Warrant – Suspect Arrested
August 10 at 5:22 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 500 block of West Palm and observed a female they recognized from prior contacts. The officers stopped and spoke with the subject and determined she had several warrants. She was arrested and taken into custody for the warrants.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
August 11 at 1:00 a.m., an officer conducted a foot patrol at a park in the 600 block of South Shamrock. A male subject was detained for being at the park after closing hours. A computer check revealed the subject was on probation for grand theft and had an outstanding no-bail warrant for grand theft. The subject was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Family Disturbance/Warrant – Suspect Arrested
August 11 at 1:18 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Mountain and Huntington regarding a family disturbance that originated in the 1000 block of Royal Oaks. They contacted two subjects who were arguing and discovered they were brother and sister. A computer check of the male subject revealed he had two warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody for the warrants.
Attempt Burglary
August 12 at 1:49 a.m., officers responded to an elementary school in the 400 block of West Colorado regarding a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, a window on a rear office door was found shattered. It appears the suspects reached in through the broken window and unlocked the door. An audible alarm sounded when the door was opened, causing the suspect(s) to flee the scene. In the hallway, several feet away from the broken window, was a large rock which was used to break the window. The school grounds were searched, but no suspects were located. The school principal responded to the school and determined that no property was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Weapons Offense/Road Rage Incident
August 12 at 7:10 p.m., a subject/victim was driving north on Fifth and stopped at the intersection at Chestnut for a stop sign. A second subject/suspect was driving east in a silver Ford Ranger and also stopped at the intersection. The victim believed he had the right of way and proceeded through the intersection. The suspect followed the victim and overtook him by passing him on the wrong side of the road. The suspect abruptly turned in front of the victim and came to a sudden stop, causing the victim to stop. Both the victim and suspect exited their vehicles. The suspect came out brandishing a
hammer in a threatening manner and yelling at the victim.
The victim, fearing for his safety, returned to his vehicle and drove away. The suspect followed him for a short distance, but then drove away. The victim drove home and called the police. Officers responded to the area where the suspect was last seen, but did not locate him or any witnesses. The suspect was described as a male Hispanic in his late twenties. The investigation is continuing.
