Highlighted Activity for August 25-28, 2016


Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
August 25 at 1:10 p.m., an officer was dispatched on the report of a female subject passed out on the sidewalk at Canyon and Lemon. As the officers arrived, the female was waking up. The officers determined she was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Shoplifting / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
August 25 at 2:05 p.m., loss prevention personnel from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a male subject inside the store, concealing merchandise on his person. Officers responded, observed the subject leaving the store and detained him. The officers located stolen merchandise and drug paraphernalia on his person. The suspect was arrested for the theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Grand Theft / Possession of Burglary Tools – Suspect Arrested
August 25 at 6:26 p.m., police received a report of a stolen bicycle that was taken from a business in the 400 block of W. Huntington. Officers responded and located the suspect and bicycle in the 1600 block of S. Primrose. The suspect was taken into custody as he was attempting to hide the bicycle. He was also found to be in possession of burglary tools, which was added to his charges.
Residential Burglary
August 25 at 7:03 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of W. Lime Avenue. The homeowner suspected her daughter had broken into her home and stolen a television. The homeowner desires prosecution. Officers were able to speak with the daughter by telephone and she admitted to breaking into the location and taking the television. The suspect was not in Monrovia, but said she would come to the station and turn herself in. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
August 26 at 3:20 a.m., police received a call reporting a subject dancing in the street in the area of Alta Vista and Chestnut. The subject was located by officers in the 400 block
of W. Huntington. He was determined to be under the influence of drugs and was
arrested. He was also found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe, which
was added to his charges.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered / False Personation / Possession of Altered Access
Cards – Suspect Arrested
August 26 at 6:21 a.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of W. Foothill.
The vehicle was unoccupied. They watched the vehicle and, after a short period of time,
a suspect entered the vehicle and attempted to leave. The vehicle was stopped and the
suspect was arrested. He provided a fraudulent California driver's license and name to
the officers. His true identity was discovered through fingerprint identification. He was
also in possession of numerous altered access cards. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
August 26 at 9:29 a.m., a silver, 2012 Honda Civic was reported stolen from the 800
block of W. Walnut Avenue. The vehicle was parked and locked in the driveway in the
evening the night before. When the victim returned to his vehicle the next morning, it
was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
August 26 at 6:21 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of W.
Huntington. The victim parked his vehicle, which contained gardening equipment, in
front of a business and went inside the location. He returned a few minutes later and
found his vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle is a red, 1987 Toyota pickup. The
investigation is continuing.
Battery / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
August 27 at 12:31 a.m., officers responded to a public parking lot in the 300 block of S.
Myrtle regarding a fight. Officers arrived and found two intoxicated subjects. One
subject sustained a laceration to his head and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He
refused to press charges, claiming the subject was his best friend. The best friend was
determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested for being drunk in
public. He was held pending detoxification.
Burglary Alarm / Commercial Burglary
August 27 at 4:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to a burglary alarm in the 100 block of
W. Pomona. When officers arrived on scene, the fire department was already there. It
appears the suspects used a vehicle to ram the rollup doors to the business, breaking a
fire sprinkler, which began spewing out water. The fire department responded to this
sprinkler activation. The burglary alarm then activated. The business owner responded
to the scene and determined the water had not caused much damage, but several
electronic items were stolen by the suspects. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
August 27 at 3:52 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of W. Cypress.
The victim’s son called to report that someone had broken into his father's truck. The
crime occurred sometime overnight and miscellaneous tools were taken from a locked
toolbox on the truck. The investigation is continuing.
Battery – Suspect Arrested
August 28 at 6:59 p.m., a battery incident was reported at a business in the 600 block of
W. Huntington. A store employee at the business called to report a subject in the
bathroom that was refusing to leave the business. When the subject was confronted by
a store employee, he assaulted the employee and fled the location. Officers located the
suspect and he was placed under citizen’s arrest for battery. The suspect was arrested
and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for November 23-29, 2015




 Vehicle Burglary
November 23 at 6:56 a.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of South Alta Vista. A truck and an SUV were parked next to each other in the carport. Unknown suspect(s) shattered windows on both vehicles, reached in and took tool boxes from both vehicles. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 23 at 7:00 a.m., a grey Nissan pickup was reported stolen from Magnolia, parked between Lime and Lemon. The owner of the vehicle kept a spare key in the glovebox. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 23 at 8:45 a.m., an off-duty officer called Monrovia police to report a possible drunk driver committing vehicle code violations. An officer responded, located the vehicle and also observed a vehicle code violation. He conducted a traffic stop and after investigation, determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Theft From a Vehicle/Burglary
November 23 at 4:42 p.m., an officer was dispatched to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Linwood. Suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked on the street and took two remotes that were inside the vehicle. One remote opened the gate to the complex and the second remote opened the garage. The suspect(s) entered the complex using the remote, opened the garage and stole tools from inside. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 23 at 7:08 p.m., the registered owner of a vehicle came into the police lobby to report her vehicle had been stolen from the 800 block of Monterey Avenue. She explained that she had allowed her unlicensed son to borrow her vehicle several days prior. She later learned that her son had been arrested for a home robbery in Monrovia. Her vehicle had been taken by one of the subjects who had been with her son during the robbery. She did not give anyone other than her son permission to use her vehicle.
The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement stolen vehicle computer database. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collison/Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
November 23 at 7:29 p.m., officers responded to Foothill and Violet on the report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. They arrived and located both parties. They learned the bicyclist had been riding on the wrong side of the street and was struck by the vehicle. The bicyclist was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI after being cleared by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics.
Vehicle Burglary
November 24 at 4:37 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at Alta Vista and Lemon. A work truck with locking drawers on the utility bed was parked on the street on Alta Vista. Unknown suspect forced open one of the drawers and stole tools from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
November 25 at 7:59 a.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of East Lemon regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered a locked vehicle and stole a third row seat. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
November 25 at 11:53 a.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the 500 block of south Myrtle. The female driver claimed she borrowed the car. There were items found inside the vehicle that belonged to the driver, as well as numerous papers, identification and other paperwork that did not belong to the driver. The investigation on fraud related charges is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
November 25 at 2:55 p.m., a resident called police to report a vehicle burglary in the 600 block of Huntington. Unknown suspect(s) shattered the passenger side window of the vehicle and stole the GPS from the driver-side dash area. The investigation is continuing.
Felony Evading/Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspects Arrested
November 25 at 9:38 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle make a turn from Mountain onto Huntington, heading east without stopping at the red signal. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle as it traveled at a high rate of speed, but the driver continued to travel east for approximately three miles, eventually stopping on Huntington at Irwindale Avenue. A high-risk stop was conducted. During the investigation, officers noticed the driver, a 19-year-old, and passenger displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The driver and passenger were arrested and taken into custody.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Brandishing a Knife/Drunk in Public – Four Suspects Arrested
November 26 at 1:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of Lime and Myrtle regarding a fight between a male and female. During the call, it was reported that the male subject had a knife. Officers arrived and observed a male and female involved in an altercation. The male subject had the female subject in what appeared to be a chokehold. As the officers approached, the male subject released the female and began to advance toward the officers. He told the officers to shoot him and continued to advance toward one of the officers. The suspect refused to follow the officers’ commands to stop and one of the officers deployed his Taser. The suspect was subdued and taken into custody.

Through investigation, it was learned that three suspects were involved in the altercation prior to police arrival. A male subject had approached and told the male suspect to leave the female alone. The male and female, along with another male, then attacked the intervening subject and began kicking him until he fell to the ground. Two other male bystanders yelled out to the suspects to leave the male subject alone and one of the suspects brandished a knife. The bystanders backed off and called police. Three suspects were arrested for the assault on the male victim, and one female was arrested at the scene for being drunk in public.

November 26 at 2:40 p.m., a resident from the 500 block of West Colorado called police to report her vehicle had been stolen. She went to her vehicle and discovered her brown, 1996 Honda Accord had been stolen from her residence. A screwdriver was located on the ground where her vehicle had been parked the night before. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary/Grand Theft Auto
November 26 at 3:17 p.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of East Lemon regarding a residential burglary and stolen vehicle. The victim reported that the keys to his vehicle and a bag containing two laptops were taken from inside his residence, and that his vehicle had also been stolen. He said the door to his residence was not secured. The victim could not verify ownership of the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Vandalism
November 26 at 9:32 p.m., a female subject called police from the 800 block of West Foothill to report her ex-boyfriend was driving around her apartment complex. The subject recently received a restraining order against the ex-boyfriend. Officers checked the area for the ex-boyfriend, but he was not found. Several hours later the female subject called back and reported that all four tires on her son's vehicle had been slashed. An officer responded to investigate the vandalism. The son's vehicle was parked in a public parking lot near the female subject’s apartment when vandalized. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
November 26 at 11:50 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of West Lemon regarding a residential burglary. The victim left their residence for a Thanksgiving dinner. When they arrived home, they noticed the front door was open and the house was ransacked. It appears the suspect(s) gained entry through an unlocked window. A handheld safe containing credit cards was taken.
Mental Evaluation
November 27 at 7:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Huntington and the 210 Freeway regarding a female walking in and out of traffic. Officers located a female subject who has mental problems and has been placed on mental holds repeatedly.
Officers spoke with the female and determined she could not care for herself. She was taken to a mental facility and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation.
Grand Theft
November 27 at 1:52 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of Huntington regarding a grand theft. The victim reported the third row seat to his Cadillac Escalade was taken out of his vehicle while he was inside a business. He reported that he was only out of his vehicle for 15 minutes. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
November 28 at 4:25 p.m., a resident from the 300 block of Scenic Drive called police to report the house next to his appeared to have an open door and that the residents were not at home. Officers arrived to find the front door had been broken into and unknown suspects had ransacked several rooms in the home. Officers cleared the residence and secured the door. The residents were notified and were on their way home. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 9:40 a.m., an officer responded to the 1300 block of Alta Vista regarding the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle stolen was a white Honda Civic. The vehicle was stolen between 1:00 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Strong Armed Robbery
November 29 at 8:03 p.m., officers responded to the area of Ivy and Huntington regarding a robbery. The female victim was walking south on Ivy from Huntington when two male Hispanics ran up from behind and struck her on the head with a glass bottle. The victim fell to the ground and the suspects pulled her purse from her possession. The suspects were last seen heading east on Cypress out of view. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 8:15 p.m., a resident called from the 300 block of West Huntington to report his vehicle had been stolen. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in the parking lot of a business and left for the weekend. He returned on November 29 and discovered his vehicle was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Arson
November 29 at 12:23 p.m., an officer responded to Monrovia High School in the 800 block of West Colorado regarding suspicious circumstances. A witness reported hearing glass breaking at the high school, seeing flames and a male subject running away from the area. The witness followed the suspect. Containment of the area was established, and a male juvenile was located and taken into custody. The suspect is a student at the school. The Monrovia Fire Department is handling the arson investigation and said the counseling office sustained severe damage. The juvenile was taken to the Eastlake Juvenile Detention Facility. The school principal was on scene and confirmed they will continue to hold classes. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 22-25, 2015


Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 22 at 3:20 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a shoplifter in custody. The suspect was seen removing price tags and placing lower-cost price tags on the items. He then attempted to purchase the items at the lower cost. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 23 at 7:20 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers were patrolling in the 200 block of East Duarte and contacted a subject. The subject was found to be in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. They arrested the suspect for the violation.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 23 at 9:19 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers were on patrol in the 700 block of East Olive when they contacted a subject who had two warrants out for his arrest. The suspect was arrested per the authority of the warrants and taken into custody.
Stolen Motorcycle
October 24 at 7:51 a.m., a resident called to report his motorcycle had been stolen from the 700 block of South Myrtle. The motorcycle is a 2016, red, Ducati. The theft occurred sometime between October 23 at 8:40 p.m. and October 24 at 7:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
October 24 at 6:49 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of West Palm on the report of a fight in progress. Upon police arrival, the fight had stopped and some of the involved subjects were gone. One of the subjects remaining at the location was contacted and determined to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. The subject was arrested and taken into custody for being drunk in public. He was held for sobering.
Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
October 24 at 10:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Foothill regarding a subject causing a disturbance. The subject was determined to be intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. He was arrested and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 2:15 a.m., a driver was stopped heading south on Myrtle for traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver was determined to be intoxicated. The driver indicated he was drinking at a relative’s house prior to being stopped. He was arrested and taken into custody. He was held for sobering and later released on a citation to appear in court.
Felony Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 3:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to an injury traffic collision in the 100 block of East Evergreen. The investigation revealed one of the drivers was intoxicated and rear-ended the other vehicle, which was legally stopped and waiting for the signal light to turn green. The victim complained of pain to her neck. The victim was treated at the scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics and taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The intoxicated driver was arrested. He was held pending the court appearance date.
Residential Burglary
October 25 at 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of East Cherry regarding a residential burglary. The suspects entered the home by breaking a window. The loss appears to be money and jewelry. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted activity weekend of 6/12-15/2015


Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested 
On June 11 at 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of South Myrtle regarding a family disturbance. When they arrived they discovered a female with scratch marks on her face. She told the officers her boyfriend, whom she lives with, hit and pushed her causing the injuries. After investigating, officers arrested the male for domestic violence. 
Vehicle Burglary On June 11 at 8:11 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 900 block of West Huntington regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim reported his vehicle was broken into and his stereo and navigation system were taken. The vehicle’s back window was smashed to gain access. The investigation is continuing 
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Hit and Run Traffic Collision/Suspended License – Suspect Arrested 
On June 12 at 2:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a call of a traffic collision that just occurred. Officers arrived and discovered a solo vehicle collision into a garage door. The driver had fled the area prior to officers arriving. A witness was located who described the driver of the vehicle and said he fled on foot. Officers located the driver of the vehicle within 10 minutes. The suspect admitted to fleeing the scene of the accident and drinking alcohol prior to the collision. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run and suspended license. 
Warrant - Suspect Arrest 
On June 12 at 2:16 p.m., an officer responded to the Monrovia Police lobby regarding a violation of court order. The subject’s ex-girlfriend was in violation of child custody orders; however, he did not have the order with him. A computer check to view the order also revealed the male had an outstanding warrant for his arrest with a bail over $200,000 and a request from LA County Probation to not release if arrested. The subject was taken into custody and arrested for the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested 
On June 12 at 12:19 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the 100 block of West Olive. A subsequent investigation revealed the motorist was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. 
Public Intoxication 
On June 13 at 12:16 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a security officer in the 300 block of South Myrtle. The security officer reported a male subject in front of the business who was intoxicated. It was determined he was unable to care for himself and arrested for public intoxication. He was later released after sobering. 
Medical Assist 
On June 13 at 12:37 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Myrtle regarding an unconscious subject. The subject was found to be extremely intoxicated and was transported to the hospital for treatment. 
Fight in Progress
On June 13 at 1:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business reporting a fight in progress in the 300 block of South Myrtle. During the evening a large group of subjects gathered at the bar and celebrated downstairs. Upstairs another group of subjects were playing pool. Between the two groups there were well over 300 patrons in the bar. A reporting party came to the police station to report subjects were "Mad Dogging" each other. Officers extra patrolled the bar and talked to the bar owner who agreed to close at 1:30 a.m. As the bar closed and subjects were leaving, three separate fights broke out. 
A large fight ensued on Myrtle Avenue in front of the bar. Monrovia officers, with the assistance of Arcadia and Sierra Madre Police Department arrived on scene. Numerous subjects dispersed spilling out onto neighboring streets. Due to the large crowd and subjects fighting each other, officers were unable to determine who was involved in the fight and no assault victims came forward. Officers were on scene for over 40 minutes. 
Grand Theft Auto 
On June 14 at 10:15 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of East Central regarding a vehicle theft. The victim stated he left his locked vehicle on the street. The vehicle was taken between the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. The vehicle taken was a black, 1995 Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing. 
Grand Theft Auto 
On June 14 at 10:03 p.m., an officer was dispatched to 1100 block of South Alta Vista regarding a stolen vehicle. The victim last saw her white, 1997 Honda Accord, on June 13, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. She noticed it missing from in front of her house on June 14, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. There was no evidence of forced entry. The investigation is continuing. Stop

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of July 24-27, 2014

Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
On July 24 at 4:01 p.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of West Foothill when they observed a male subject run out of a grocery store being chased by store loss prevention officers. The subject ran toward a van that was parked south of the business with its sliding door open. The male driver of the vehicle and the subject who ran out of the store were both detained, and the stolen property was recovered. After
investigation, it was determined the two suspects had conspired together to commit the  burglary at the business. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
On July 25 at 10:03 p.m., an officer stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation at Mayflower and Diamond. As he approached the vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana from inside. During a pat-down search, one of the passengers was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued a citation to appear in court.
Driving Under the Influence / Injury Traffic Collision
On July 26 at 12:11 a.m., officers responded to Foothill and El Nido regarding a vehicle that crashed into a light post. The driver was injured and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The officer saw signs of intoxication, and the driver admitted to having smoked honey oil. DUI Charges will be submitted to the court for filing.
Drunk in Public / Possession of Marijuana – Suspect Arrested
On July 26 at 12:36 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of South Myrtle regarding an intoxicated female lying by the curb. The female was accompanied by her boyfriend and they were waiting for a cab. The officer arrived and determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for herself as she could not stand. She was arrested and taken into custody for sobering. During a pat-down search, she was found to be in possession of marijuana.
Residential Burglary
On July 26 at 4:16 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of South Encinitas called to report his house had been burglarized. He stated that the crime had occurred between midnight and 3:00 a.m. He was asleep, and awoke to find that his pants, which contained his wallet, camera and a flash drive, were missing from the chair where he had placed them. He noticed that his bedroom window was missing the screen and he
called police. Nothing else seemed to have been taken. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On July 26 at 5:43 a.m., a caller reported a vehicle partially blocking the southbound lane of Bradoaks at Greystone. Officers responded and, after investigation, determined the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for driving under the influence and was taken into custody.
Drunk in Public / Possession of Tobacco Products / Located Missing – One Suspect Arrested
On July 27 at 12:17 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of West Olive regarding subjects possibly fighting. The officer arrived and saw two subjects walking; one of the subjects was staggering. The subjects were detained. The subject who was staggering was found to be a juvenile. He was extremely intoxicated and was taken to a hospital.
A computer check revealed the juvenile had been reported missing four days ago out of Temple City. Charges will be submitted to the court for filing on the juvenile. The second subject, an adult who was also intoxicated, was arrested and taken into custody for sobering.
Disturbing Subjects / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
On July 28 at 2:42 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting disturbing subjects at an apartment in the 800 block of West Duarte. A male and female were detained. A computer check revealed that both subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Both were arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of April 10-13, 2014

Disturbing Subjects / Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
On April 10 at 4:39 p.m., an officer responded to a park in the 300 block of South Myrtle
regarding disturbing subjects. The officer observed two subjects in a verbal argument.
One of the subjects removed his shirt and took a fighting stance with the second
subject. The officer confronted the subjects and after investigation, arrested one of
them for being drunk in public.
Vehicle Burglaries
On April 10 in the late evening, three vehicle burglaries were reported to police. The
burglaries occurred in business parking lots located in the 700 to 900 blocks of West
Huntington. In two of the burglaries, the third row seats had been taken from two
SUV’s. In the third incident, a vehicle window was shattered and an iPad that was
visible through the window was taken. The investigations are continuing.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On April 11 at 2:36 a.m., an officer observed two subjects in a business parking lot near
Chestnut and Magnolia. One of the subjects appeared to be hiding something near a
bucket. The officer stopped and spoke with the subjects. When the officer searched
the area he had just seen the subject near, he located a used glass smoking pipe. The
suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Grand Theft Auto – Suspect Arrested
On April 11 at 8:15 a.m., an officer on patrol located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the
600 block of West Huntington. Officers watched the vehicle until a male subject
approached and entered the vehicle. The suspect was stopped and arrested. The
stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the registered owner.
Theft From an Unlocked Vehicle
On April 11 at 11:23 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of
Wildrose Avenue. The victim went to his vehicle in the evening and saw the passenger
door was not secure. He discovered several items missing from the interior of his
vehicle. The vehicle had been left unlocked. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft – Suspects Arrested
On April 13 at 2:31 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 500 block of West Huntington
when he observed three suspicious subjects in a business parking lot. Two of the
suspects had entered the business, a male and a female, and the third male suspect
appeared to be acting as a lookout in front of the store. Officers watched the store and
waited to see if they were going to commit a theft.
Several minutes later, the suspects exited the store carrying a large shopping bag full of
store merchandise. When they saw officers approaching, the female abruptly removed
a bottle of cologne from the bag and tried to conceal it. After investigation, the male
suspect was arrested and charged with petty theft and stolen credit card information.
The female was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
Driving Under the Influence / Hit and Run Traffic Accident – Suspect Arrested
On April 13 at 9:58 p.m., a caller phoned police to report a vehicle had just struck a
parked car at Olive and Alta Vista and then drove away. When police arrived, they
conducted an area search and located the vehicle that had fled the scene. The driver of
the vehicle was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, was unlicensed, and
uninsured. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.

Child Abuse – Suspect Arrested
November 27 at 7:56 p.m., a 15-year-old female subject ran into the police department lobby with visible injuries.  She told officers her father assaulted her with his fists.  She said she ran from her house to get away from him.  The mother was not home at the time of the assault.  Paramedics were called to the station to treat the victim for her injuries.  Officers were dispatched to the residence in the 200 block of East Olive, where they detained and arrested the father for felony child abuse.  The victim was later released to her mother.

Battery with Serious Bodily Injury – Suspect Arrested
November 27 at 10:47 p.m., dispatch received several calls reporting two male subjects fighting in front of a restaurant in the 100 block of East Lemon.  The subjects had crashed through the restaurant's plate glass window.  When officers arrived, one of the subjects had fled on foot to the rear area of the restaurant.  Both subjects were detained and treated by paramedics for lacerations from the glass.

The investigation revealed that one of the male subjects had been drinking and was making inappropriate comments to a female subject.  He grabbed her and began punching her.  The second male subject jumped in to protect the female and was pushed backwards through the plate glass window, causing severe injuries to his back and legs.  The male suspect who started the fight was arrest for felony assault with great bodily injury.

Burglary – Suspect Arrested
November 27 at 11:50 p.m., a business in the 100 block of East Pomona called to report the alarm to their stored vehicle lot was going off and they saw a suspect on the property.  When officers arrived, a suspect started running west on Pomona towards Myrtle.  Officers detained the suspect and recovered a car stereo he had discarded in front of the business.  The employees positively identified the suspect and confirmed the stereo was stolen from one of their vehicles.  The suspect was arrested.  

Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 9:20 a.m., a resident in the 800 block of Encino Way called police to report his vehicle had been stolen.  He had parked his 2007 Honda Accord in front of his residence at 11:30 p.m.   When he returned to his vehicle the following morning, he discovered it missing.  The investigation is continuing.

Domestic Violence / False Imprisonment – Suspect Arrested
November 29 at 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Lemon regarding a domestic violence incident.  A male and female subject that live together were arguing and the male subject had been drinking.  The female tried to slap the male subject, but he grabbed her and struck her twice in the face with a clenched fist.  The female tried to call the police with her cell phone, but the male subject grabbed her phone and smashed it.  She tried to leave the room, but he covered her mouth to prevent her from calling out for help.  They both fell asleep on the bed.  She woke up later and left the location. 

The female subject returned a few hours later to retrieve some property.  She tried to grab the male subject’s cell phone since her phone was broken, but he grabbed her and struck her with his elbow in the face several times.  She managed to get away again and went to the police department to report the incident.  The boyfriend was interviewed at the residence and was arrested.  An Emergency Protective Order was granted.

Grand Theft Auto
November 29 at 5:47 p.m., dispatch received a call from a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain regarding a stolen vehicle.  An employee came to work that morning and parked his 1995 Acura in the parking lot.  He returned to the area where he parked his vehicle eight hours later and discovered it was missing.  The investigation is continuing.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered
November 29 at 6:05 p.m., while officers where investigating the vehicle theft in the above incident, they located a stolen vehicle in the same parking lot.  The vehicle is a 1996 Acura that was stolen out of the Los Angeles Police Department jurisdiction.  The investigation is continuing.

Under the Influence of Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 30 at 1:45 a.m., an officer contacted a male subject pushing a bicycle north on Myrtle.  The subject was noticeably nervous and out of breath.  Through investigation, the officer determined the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.

Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
December 1 at 12:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Huntington regarding a suspicious person loitering in a parking lot.  They arrived and contacted the subject, who was walking around the parking lot carrying a backpack.  The officer conducted a consent search of the subject’s backpack and found a small baggie containing methamphetamine and five used hypodermic syringes.  The subject was arrested and taken into custody for the above listed charges.

Vehicle Burglary
December 1 at 7:08 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive.  The victim had parked and secured her vehicle in the parking at approximately 5:30 a.m., leaving her purse in the back seat.  An unknown suspect smashed the victim's right rear passenger window and took her purse containing cash, a camera, and other miscellaneous items.  The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for the Weekend of October 17-20, 2013

Residential Burglary
October 17 at 3:30 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of Norumbega.  The victim left her residence at 2:30 p.m. and returned approximately an hour later.  When she returned, she discovered her front door had been pried open and the entire residence had been ransacked.  The loss is still undetermined at this time.  The investigation is continuing.

Commercial Burglary / Petty Theft / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 17 at 8:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of West Huntington regarding a theft that had just occurred.  As the officers were arriving, a second business called reporting another theft that had just occurred, and the suspect description matched in both thefts.  The suspect was located and detained by police.  The suspect was carrying a backpack which contained stolen property from both stores.    He was also in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.  The suspect was positively identified and was arrested.  

Vehicle Burglary
October 18 at 4:14 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 400 block of West Olive.  The victim’s vehicle was parked between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. When he returned to his vehicle the following morning, he discovered a tool missing from the trunk.  The investigation is continuing.

Attempt Residential Burglary
October 18 at 6:14 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of North Fifth regarding the report of a residential burglary.  The incident occurred on October 16, between 8:00 a.m. and 1200 p.m.  The victim found a window screen pulled back and the gates leading to the rear of the location were open.  The investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary
October 18 at 6:25 p.m., the manager of a business in the 800 block of West Huntington called to report her vehicle had been broken into between 3:00 and 6:20 p.m.  The victim parked her vehicle in the parking lot and left her purse inside the vehicle under the driver’s seat.  The rear driver side window was smashed and the victim's purse was taken.  The investigation is continuing.

Possession of Methamphetamine – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 1:56 a.m., officers on patrol in the 400 block South Myrtle observed two subjects sitting at a patio table behind a business in the dark.  One of the subjects had his phone, cigarettes and lighters on the table, and his hands were also on the table.  When the officers moved him from the table, they found he had been concealing several methamphetamine crystals with his hands.  The crystals tested positive for methamphetamine.  The suspect was arrested.  During the booking process at the jail, a search of the suspect revealed an additional plastic baggie containing about 5 grams of methamphetamine crystals which he had concealed on his person.  The subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a jail facility. 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 3:09 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle at Myrtle and Pamela for a traffic violation.  The driver was observed swerving over the line between lanes and then swerving back into his lane.  Upon further investigation, the driver was determined to be driving under the influence and was arrested.

Assault – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 9:52 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Montana regarding disturbing subjects.  When they arrived, it was determined a father and son were having a verbal altercation, and the father struck the son on the head with a chair.  The son sustained a small cut on his left temple and a contusion on the left eye area.  He refused medical attention.  The father had been drinking and was arrested for assault.

Fight in Progress – Four Suspects Arrested
October 20 at 1:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hotel in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding ten people fighting in the lobby.  The manager pointed out a female subject and told the officer she had started the fight during a wedding reception.  Other officers arrived and moved further into the lobby area, where people were still pushing each other.  Officers from Arcadia Police Department were requested to assist.  In all, three subjects, two males and one female, were arrested for public intoxication, and one female was arrested for delaying and obstructing an officer.  The lobby was cleared and the guests dispersed.  

Battery
October 20 at 4:15 p.m., an assault incident was reported in the 100 block of West Foothill.  The victim was a 16-year-old male who was selling candy door-to-door.  He went into a business and was immediately told to leave and that he could not sell candy at the business.  As he left, he made a comment under his breath.  A coworker of the person the comment was directed at became angry and followed the victim outside. Once in the parking lot, he hit the victim three times in the face.  Witnesses began yelling at him to stop hitting the victim, and the suspect was pulled away by a coworker.  The case will be sent to the District Attorney for filing.

Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested                                                           
October 20 at 11:55 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 2600 block of California stopped a motorist for a minor traffic violation.  Further investigation revealed the motorist was in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, and three glass pipes.  The motorist was arrested and taken to jail for the above listed charges.
