Highlighted Activity for September 1-4, 2016


Grand Theft Auto
September 1 at 6:45 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 800 block of Genoa Avenue. The victim reported his 1992 Honda was stolen from in front of his home sometime during the early morning hours. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 1 at 12:44 p.m., a suspicious subject was reported under the 210 Freeway at Mayflower. Officers arrived and determined the subject was extremely intoxicated and could not care for himself. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Grand Theft Auto
September 1 at 10:42 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 500 block of W. Huntington. The vehicle is a green, 1998 Honda Civic. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 2 at 5:23 a.m., officers were dispatched on the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Linwood and Alta Vista. The officers located and contacted the driver, who worked for a transportation company. The female passenger was intoxicated and did not know where she was or where she was going. She was determined to be too intoxicated to care for her own safety. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
September 2 at 6:49 a.m., a domestic dispute was reported at a parking lot in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle. Officers arrived and contacted a female subject who was involved in the dispute. The investigation determined that no crime had occurred, but the female subject was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody and held pending her court appearance.
Grand Theft
September 2 at 11:45 a.m., a grand theft was reported in the 900 block of S. Fifth Avenue. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in a hotel parking lot. When she
returned to the vehicle, she found the third row seats had been stolen. Forced entry was made through a rear window. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
September 3 at 4:19 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a bicyclist riding at night without the proper lighting equipment. A computer check revealed the subject had multiple warrants for his arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. During a search of his property, the officer located drug paraphernalia, which was added to his charges.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
September 3 at 9:39 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 700 block of W. Duarte Road stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The investigation determined the subject was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
September 3 at 4:09 p.m., police responded to the report of a subject lying on the sidewalk near a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington. Officers were dispatched and contacted the subject, who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
September 5 at 9:56 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of E. Cypress called police to report that his neighbor lost control of his vehicle, hitting his fence and colliding into his tree. Officers arrived, contacted the subject and observed symptoms of intoxication. The investigation determined the subject was driving under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
September 4 at 9:22 a.m., a vehicle was reported at a gas station at Huntington and Shamrock with a driver that appeared intoxicated. As officers arrived, the vehicle left the gas station and failed to stop for a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Robbery / Assault with a Deadly Weapon
September 4 at 5:31 p.m., staff from a local hospital called police to report an assault victim that came into the emergency room for treatment. Officers responded to investigate and determined the victim had been assaulted and robbed. The victim sustained lacerations and contusions to the face. The weapon used was the suspect's foot. The suspect is known to the victim and the investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
September 5 at 9:56 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding a male subject running in and out of traffic and acting strange. When officers arrived, the subject tried running in and out of traffic to avoid contact. Officers detained the subject and determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Vandalism / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
September 5 at 1:59 p.m., graffiti vandalism in progress was reported in the 100 block of W. Maple Avenue. When officers arrived in the area, four male juveniles were located that matched the description of the suspects. One of the juveniles admitted to tagging graffiti nearby, one had marijuana on his person, and one had prescription medication, marijuana and a scale on his person. Three of the subjects were arrested and the investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for August 29-31, 2016


Vehicle Burglary
August 30 at 7:45 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported by a resident in the 1200 block of S. Alta Vista. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in the late afternoon the day prior. When he returned to his vehicle in the morning, he found it had been ransacked. There was no signs of forced entry. A pair of sunglasses and change was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Felony Battery / Obstructing and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspects Arrested
August 31 at 12:52 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 block of E. Olive regarding two male subjects fighting. When officers arrived, the suspect had fled and the victim was lying inside one of the apartments with severe cuts to his head and back from glass. The investigation revealed the suspect went to the apartment and started a fight with the victim. During the fight, the suspect pushed the victim through a glass window and fled the scene. The suspect was also cut, as a trail of blood was found. Officers conducted a search, but the suspect was not located. The identity of the suspect was known. He is currently on parole and wears a GPS tracker.

On September 1 at 12:49 a.m., State Parole was able to plot the wanted suspect's location to the 300 block of E. Walnut in Monrovia. Monrovia officers and the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter responded to assist in the search. Officers set up containment of the area with assistance from neighboring agencies. The suspect was located hiding in a shed in the rear yard of a residence. The suspect ran from the shed to an apartment complex in the 300 block of S. Canyon, where he entered an apartment through an open sliding glass door. The suspect then jumped out of an upstairs window and attempted to run, but was taken into custody.

While the officers were taking the suspect into custody, his girlfriend showed up and became confrontational with the officers. The suspect was arrested for felony battery and his girlfriend was arrested for obstructing and delaying the officers.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
August 31 at 8:58 a.m., a suspicious person was reported in the 400 block of W. Colorado. The subject was not wearing a shirt and was acting strange. Officers responded and located the subject, who was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Found Property
August 31 at approximately 5:00 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of W. Cherry saw a suspicious person in the front yard of his apartment complex. The male subject was described as 25-30 years old, wearing black sweats and a grey hooded sweatshirt. The resident confronted the subject, who then left the area on foot. At approximately 9:45 a.m., the resident returned home and found two backpacks, a flat screen television, and a gardening tool by the property line wall that might have been left behind by the subject. There were no thefts of similar items reported to police so the items were stored and are being held as found property.

Highlighted Activity for July 7-10, 2016


Commercial Burglary
July 7 at 8:22 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of W. Foothill regarding the activation of a commercial burglary alarm. When the officers arrived, they found the glass door to the business had been smashed and the cash register had been stolen. No suspects were located inside the property. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
July 7 at 9:00 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of N. Myrtle called police to report a theft. The resident had just returned from vacation and she noticed a package that had been delivered was missing. The empty box was found around the corner from the victim’s residence. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 7 at 4:00 p.m., a suspicious person was reported in the 500 block of E. Cypress. When officers arrived at the location, they located a person who matched the description of the suspicious person. While talking to the subject, she admitted to being on probation. A search of the subject revealed she was in possession of narcotics. She was arrested and taken into custody. The subject was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Domestic Violence
July 8 at 12:02 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of E. Colorado regarding a domestic violence incident. A couple was involved in an argument, and the male subject pushed the female subject down a small flight of stairs and into bushes. The female subject sustained abrasions to her back and scratches on her arms. The male suspect left the location prior to police arrival. A wanted person entry was made into the law enforcement computer database for the suspect and the investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto Recovery / Warrant – Suspects Arrested
July 8 at 2:36 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 900 block of W. Colorado located a stolen vehicle that was occupied by three individuals. The officer followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Baldwin and Foothill. The three suspects were detained and
taken into custody. The driver admitted to borrowing the vehicle from her friend and failing to return the car, as agreed. She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested for grand theft auto and the warrant. The other two occupants were released from custody, as they were determined not to be involved in the theft.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
July 9 at 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a shoplifter in custody. The female suspect entered the store, selected merchandise and fled without paying. The suspect was detained outside the store by loss prevention agents and police were called. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. She was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Injury Traffic Collision
July 9 at 3:06 p.m., officers responded to the report of an injury traffic collision in the 200 block of E. Foothill. A vehicle was stopped on Foothill at May, waiting to make a left turn onto May Avenue. Two vehicles came to a stop behind the first vehicle, and a fourth vehicle failed to stop, causing a chain reaction traffic collision. Two occupants complained of pain, but did not wish to be taken to the hospital.
Possession of Stolen Property – Suspect Arrested
July 9 at 8:51 p.m., an officer stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation in the 500 block of E. Olive. The driver consented to a vehicle search, and stolen property and ammunition was found in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for possession of the stolen property.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
July 9 at 9:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to an alley in the 200 block of W. Huntington regarding a person that had been assaulted and was bleeding. Officers located the victim, who had been beaten and had sustained numerous injuries and cuts to his body and head. The victim was intoxicated and was unable to give information regarding the suspects, but it appears one or more suspects used a hard object to strike the victim. It appears the assault may not have occurred at the location and it is unclear how the victim got to the location where he was found. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 12:43 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of E. Huntington when he observed a driver commit a vehicle code violation. The officer stopped the driver and through investigation, determined he was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken into custody. The passenger in the vehicle was also extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
July 10 at 2:00 p.m., an officer responded to a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in the 600 block of S. Ivy. The victim parked her vehicle across from her home. When she returned to her vehicle a short time later, she found damage on the passenger side. It appears a truck or some type of SUV sideswiped the parked vehicle and fled without leaving any information. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 2:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of W. Foothill. The caller reported a female suspect had stolen merchandise from the store. Officers arrived and located the female hiding in some bushes adjacent to the business. Further investigation revealed the female was under the influence of a controlled substance and unable to care for herself. The caller did not want to press charges for the theft. The female was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and held for a sobering period. She was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 11:39 p.m., officers responded to the area of Fifth and Huntington regarding an alarm activation at a construction site. The officers arrived and located a person sleeping on the property, who was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication / Violation of Gang Injunction – Suspect Arrested
July 10 at 11:09 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of S. Myrtle regarding a suspicious subject approaching people and demanding money. As officers arrived, the suspect observed them and ran. He was caught after a short foot chase. The suspect, a known gang member, was found to be intoxicated and in violation of the gang injunction. He was arrested and taken into custody for the charges.

Highlighted Activity for March 10-13, 2016


Vandalism
March 10 at 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Myrtle regarding a vandalism report. It appears an unknown suspect smashed the driver-side window on a vehicle. There was nothing inside the vehicle in plain view. Officers received information of a second window smash on another vehicle in the 300 block N. Primrose. There was nothing taken from the second vehicle either. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Stolen Property/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
March 10 at 10:56 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of N. Primrose when he saw a suspicious subject walk out from the side of a residence. The subject saw the officer and attempted to walk away, but was detained. While the officer was talking with the subject, the subject appeared nervous and was visibly shaken. The subject said he was not alone at the residence, and that there were other people in the back garage. He gave the officer permission to search the garage. Additional units responded to assist.
While walking to the garage, the officers observed numerous expensive bicycles, which appeared to be in the process of having the serial numbers ground off and rims repainted. A search of the garage also revealed drug paraphernalia. The subject was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested for possession of stolen property and the drug charges.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
March 10 at 8:04 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington on the report of a male subject that fled the store without paying for merchandise. The officers obtained a description of the suspect and searched the area; the suspect was located at a bus bench nearby. During the investigation, the officers located the stolen property, and store loss prevention personnel positively identified the suspect. He was arrested for the crime and taken into custody.
Critical Missing Juvenile Located
March 10 at 10:00 p.m., a female juvenile was reported missing to the Monrovia Police Department. The missing was last seen at her apartment complex in the 500 block of
W. Foothill. She had argued with her father over the use of a cell phone. She had gone to school that morning, but had not returned home. Police conducted an area search and followed all investigative leads, but the juvenile was not located. On March 13 at 2:15 p.m., detectives received a lead on the location of the juvenile and went to the Pasadena area to follow up. During the course of their investigation, they located the juvenile at a residence in the City of Altadena. The juvenile’s parents were notified and responded.
Domestic Violence
March 10 at 11:10 p.m., a disturbance was reported at the intersection of Chestnut and Monterey. Officers arrived to investigate and located a female subject hiding near several vehicles. She had been assaulted and had sustained injuries to her face. During the investigation, the officers learned her husband had struck her several times, causing the visible injuries. The officers went to the residence, where the crime occurred, and located the husband. After speaking with him, he was arrested for domestic violence.
Theft from an Unlocked Vehicle
March 11 at 8:56 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of S. Primrose. The victim had parked his vehicle and left it unlocked. Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect entered the vehicle and rummaged through it. A thumb drive and a pair of sunglasses were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Non-injury Traffic Collision
March 11 at 10:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic collision at a business parking lot in the 300 block of W. Huntington. An 84-year-old male subject was attempting to park his vehicle and accidently pushed on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing his vehicle to lunge forward into the side of a building. There was damage to a wall of the building and the store front glass was broken. The subject was wearing his seat belt and sustained no injuries, however, paramedics still responded to check him. A DMV reexamination was issued.
Felony Warrants/Wanted Fugitive/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
March 11 at 4:13 p.m., officers conducted a high-risk stop on a white VW Jetta in the parking lot of a closed business in the 300 block of W. Foothill. The registered owner of the vehicle had felony warrants out for his arrest and was listed as a wanted fugitive for a weapons charge. The male suspect was arrested and taken into custody without incident. The female passenger was also arrested for being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Theft of Package
March 11 at 6:42 p.m., a resident in the 300 block of N. Encinitas reported the theft of a package that was delivered and stolen from her porch sometime during the day. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 11 at 7:57 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of W. Chestnut when he noticed a subject sitting in a vehicle slumped over. The subject was found to be
extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 4:36 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of W. Foothill and observed a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation. He conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver. Through investigation, the officer determined the driver was intoxicated and driving under the influence. The suspect was arrested and held for a sobering period. The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 2:34 p.m., two subjects, a boyfriend and girlfriend, were arguing in the area of Palm and Primrose. The male got angry and threw the female to the ground, causing scrapes on her arms. He was arrested for domestic violence and a temporary restraining order was issued.
Traffic Collision/Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 12 at 7:27 p.m., officers responded to the area of Duarte Road and Magnolia for a non-injury traffic collision. While speaking to the subjects involved, officers noticed the subject suspected of causing the collision appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered and the driver was arrested for DUI. The driver was later released after a sobering period with a citation to appear in court.
Injury Traffic Collision
March 12 at 8:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to an injury traffic collision at Myrtle and Evergreen. A vehicle traveling east on Evergreen was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Myrtle that had failed to stop at a red signal. Three people in the vehicle traveling east suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Monrovia Fire Department personnel.
Fight in Progress/Assault With a Deadly Weapon
March 13 at 1:23 a.m., Monrovia Fire Department personnel were at a business in the 400 block of S. Myrtle for a medical assist and observed a disturbance to the front of the location involving three adult male subjects. The subjects separated and left the location heading in different directions. The subjects came back together around the corner on Lemon. A physical altercation began and the two suspects assaulted the victim. During the assault, he was pushed to the ground, kicked in the head and his head was struck against the pavement. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple head injuries. The two suspects had fled the location. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
March 13 at 1:57 a.m., a hit and run traffic collision was reported in the 100 block of W. Colorado. The victim reported a vehicle had crashed into her parked car and fled. The suspect vehicle was described as a gold-colored, four-door vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
March 13 at 3:22 a.m., a resident in the 500 block of W. Duarte Road called police to report a vandalism that had just occurred. The victim was inside his residence when he heard noises outside. He looked out and saw an ex-roommate standing by his vehicle. He went out to confront the subject, but he fled. The victim looked at his vehicle and noticed the tires had been slashed. The suspect was not located and the investigation is ongoing.

Highlighted Activity for February 29 – March 2, 2016


Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
February 29 at 9:27 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 400 block of West Huntington. Staff at the business reported that a subject was possibly using drugs inside their restroom. Officers arrived and contacted the subject, who admitted he had drug needles in his possession. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
March 1 at 8:36 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 400 block of West Evergreen regarding a theft of vehicle parts. The suspect entered the work yard and used tools to remove a 52 inch LED light bar from the top of one of the trucks in the lot. The employees were working inside the building during the theft. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
March 1 at 7:34 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 700 block of East Huntington. The victim arrived at the parking lot and went into the gym to work out. When she returned to her vehicle approximatley an hour later, she found that someone had punched the driver side door lock to open her truck. She discovered a pair of sunglasses were missing from her vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Brandishing a Weapon
March 2 at 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a skate park in the 800 block of East Olive on the report of an altercation where a male adult brandished a pocket knife at a skateboarder. Officers arrived and determined the subject brandished the knife from a distance. The subject was interviewed and displayed behavior of mental illness. He was taken to a local facility and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation. The subject does not reside in Monrovia.
Grand Theft from Vehicle
March 2 at 6:17 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported at a hotel parking lot in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue. The victim was checking into the hotel two days ago. While she was checking in with the office, someone took cash from her unlocked vehicle. She delayed reporting the theft because she thought she had just misplaced the money. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
March 2 at 10:18 p.m., an intoxicated subject was reported at a business in the 300 block of West Huntington. He was following employees around in the parking lot. An officer arrived and arrested the male adult subject, who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was held for a sobering period.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
March 3 at 12:43 a.m., a citizen called police to report a male adult subject running in the street at Palm and Ivy, acting unusual. Officers arrived and saw the subject throw something onto the ground. The subject was detained. An officer located an object containing a white powder substance on the ground near the subject. A search of the subject revealed a baggie containing what the officer believed to be a controlled substance. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The substance tested positive for cocaine.

Highlighted Activity for February 25-28, 2016


Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 25 at 7:53 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Duarte and Myrtle. The officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver continued for several blocks before eventually coming to a stop. While the officer was speaking with the driver, he could smell the odor of alcohol. The driver was intoxicated and had difficulty standing. He was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was and arrested and held for sobering.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
February 26 at 12:05 a.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious person at a business in the 2100 block of South Myrtle. When they arrived, several subjects were located inside the gates of the business. They were all detained for investigation. One subject had methamphetamine on them, along with a drug smoking pipe. The subject had no identification and was subsequently arrested in order to identify them for the citation to appear in court. A second subject was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and also having no identification.
Grand Theft Auto
February 26 at 7:53 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of Linwood. The vehicle is a black, 2013 Honda Crosstour. The victim’s friend parked and locked the vehicle in the driveway at approximately 8:30 p.m. The victim went out in the morning at approximately 7:40 a.m. and saw her vehicle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
February 26 at 7:30 p.m., police received a call reporting a female adult crawling down the street in the 200 block of East Cypress Avenue. Officers located the subject and determined she was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 12:27 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation and during the stop, determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was held for sobering.
Warrant/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 11:07 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 2600 block of South Mountain and contacted a suspicious person in a business parking lot. The subject was found to have a warrant for their arrest and was in possession of Heroin. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for the charges.
Suspicious Person/Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 27 at 3:22 p.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the 500 block of West Huntington. They arrived and contacted the subject, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. It was determined that the subject was under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
February 28 at 11:15 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block of Linwood. An unknown suspect smashed the window of the vehicle and took a camera that was left inside. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
February 28 at 7:41 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 600 block of South Primrose. A witness called police to report a suspect on a bike just shot out his tenant’s car window. The suspect is described as a male Black wearing a black shirt with white writing on it. Officers searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him. It appears the window was damaged with a BB pellet. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant/Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 28 at 8:56 p.m., an officer was in the area of Foothill and Primrose and noticed a subject on a bicycle he knew had an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer made a traffic stop on the bicyclist and contacted the subject. A computer check confirmed the arrest warrant and the suspect was taken into custody. During a search of the suspect, the officer located a baggie containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket. The suspect was arrested and is being held pending his court appearance.

Highlighted Activity for February 4-7, 2016


Park Closure Violation – Suspect Arrested
February 4 at 11:19 p.m., officers were using the services of the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter on a call and requested they check the roof of the Library in the 300 block of South Myrtle on their way out of the city. During the check, a subject was spotted in the bushes at the park. Officers responded to the park and located a subject sleeping in the bushes. They arrested the subject for being in the park during closed hours and he received a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
February 7 at 7:28 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation at Myrtle and Duarte. During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was under the influence of marijuana. The driver was arrested and later released on a citation to appear in court.

Attempt Grand Theft Auto
November 18 at 7:42 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 600 block of California Avenue. When the officer arrived, the investigation revealed the incident was actually an attempt grand theft auto, as the vehicle was found to have a damaged steering column. The vehicle is a blue, 2000 Chevy Blazer. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
November 18 at 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 100 block of West Walnut on the report of a burglary. Unknown suspects had stolen welding equipment and gas from the business. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
November 19 at 1:29 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of East Fig Avenue regarding a suspicious subject in the area. A female resident returned home and reported that she was being watched by a shirtless male subject who was standing in the street in front of her home. The resident’s husband exited the home and the subject quickly left the area.
Officers arrived and located the subject in an alley in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue. The investigation revealed the subject is employed by a local business and was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.

Highlighted Activity for October 5-7, 2015


Residential Burglary
October 5 at 9:36 p.m., a burglary alarm was activated at a house in the 200 block of Bradoaks. Officers arrived and discovered a backdoor open with the window in it shattered. They surrounded the house, then made entry; however, no suspects were located inside or in the surrounding area. The home had been ransacked and evidence was collected, but the loss is unknown until the owner can inventory the property.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 6 at 7:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to a grocery store in the 100 block of west Foothill, where a 25-year-old male suspect was being detained by store security for shoplifting. The suspect had entered the store and placed merchandise in his pockets. He went to a register and paid for a box of tea, but not for what he had hidden in his pockets. As he left the store, he was stopped by store security. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Camping in a Park after Closing – Suspects Arrested
October 6 at 11:41 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 900 block of South California when he observed a male and female subject camping in the park after the park was closed. The male and female had both been issued citations in the past for the same violation; however, they continued to refuse to leave the park. They were both issued citations to appear in court on the violation and escorted out of the park.
Traffic Collision
October 7 at 10:00 a.m., a semi-truck with a trailer was making a turning movement in the 300 block of West Maple. The driver cut the corner short and struck a fire hydrant, causing the water pipe to burst. The Fire Department and City Public Works crews were able to stop the flow of water, but significant damage was caused to the sidewalk near the hydrant.
Vandalism
October 7 at 3:25 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of Norumbega for a vandalism incident that had just occurred. An intoxicated female who had been living at the residence for two weeks was involved in a verbal argument with the owner of the home. The female became angry and kicked a stereo speaker, causing damage. The owner of the property completed a Private Person's Arrest for the female and she was arrested and taken into custody. After sobering, she was released on citation to appear in court on the charge.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 7 at 3:56 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. A computer check revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Fight in Progress
October 7 at 4:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported fight in progress in the area of Mayflower and Olive. Upon arrival, one female juvenile was being taken to the hospital for minor injuries and a second female juvenile was no longer in the area. The investigation revealed the two subjects had texted each other and agreed to meet at the park to fight. The subject at the scene was uncooperative and refused to provide an account of what occurred. The parents of the minor signed a refusal to prosecute form. The investigation continues to identify the second suspect in this case.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 8 at 12:37 a.m., police were notified by a citizen of a possible drunk driver in a Mitsubishi at Myrtle and Lemon. The vehicle was located by an officer at Lemon and Ivy. The driver failed to stop for the stop sign at Lemon and Ivy and was stopped by the officer. The officer contacted the driver and determined he was intoxicated. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. He was held for a sobering.
Grand Theft Auto
October 8 at 2:08 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of West Walnut, as a resident reported her ex-boyfriend had just stolen her vehicle. He had stolen her car keys a week prior after an argument. She reported the theft to the police, but the suspect had fled the scene and was not apprehended. The victim was inside her home at 2:08 a.m. and heard the engine to her vehicle start. She ran outside and saw her ex-boyfriend driving away with her car without her permission. She called police.
Officers arrived and searched the area for the suspect, but he had fled the area in the vehicle and was not located. The vehicle is a 2010, four-door, black Ford Flex. The vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle system, and the suspect was entered into the wanted persons system.
Detective Bureau Case Update
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Receiving Stolen Property/Ex-Felon with Ammunition/Ex-Felon with a Firearm
On October 2, 2015, a suspicious subject was seen in the 600 block of West Palm unloading property. Monrovia Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team established surveillance of the location and observed the minivan leaving the area being driven by the female suspect. They stopped the van and noticed property in the van. The driver could not account for why she was in possession of the property. They also recovered ammunition for a shotgun and a pistol in the vehicle. The female suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, and ex-felon with ammunition.
A search warrant was written and served on October 3, 2015, at 7:00 a.m. on the residence, as the ammunition and stolen property was recovered in the vehicle. The firearm was recovered, and a separate individual, the resident, was arrested for possessing the firearm, as he is a convicted felon.

Highlighted Activity for September 24-27, 2015


Injury Traffic Collision
On September 25 at 7:00 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle verses bicyclist traffic collision in the area of Myrtle and Colorado. The male juvenile was riding his bicycle west on the south sidewalk. A vehicle exiting the parking lot, pulled onto the street and broadsided the bicyclist. The bicyclist sustained a laceration on his face. He was treated by paramedics and transported to a hospital.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On September 25 at 8:09 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the 800 block of West Colorado. Through investigation it was discovered the female had an outstanding warrant. She was cited for the vehicle code violation and taken into custody for the warrant.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
On September 25 at 8:18 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the 200 block of North Alta Vista. The investigation determined the subject had an outstanding warrant. The driver was cited for the vehicle code violation and arrested for the warrant.
Residential Burglary
On September 25 at 9:29 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Alamitas. The victims indicated they left their home that evening to eat dinner at about 5:15 p.m. They returned home at about 9:30 p.m. and discovered their home was burglarized. The front door was forced open with a pry tool, and unknown suspect(s) took currency, a camera, and electronics. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol - Suspect Arrested
On September 26 at 2:27 a.m. a driver was stopped for unsafe speed in the 1800 block of South Myrtle. The investigation determined the subject was driving under the influence of alcohol. The subject was arrested and later released on a citation after sobering.

On September 26 at 3:39 a.m., a driver was stopped for a stop sign violation in the area of Huntington and Shamrock. A subsequent investigation revealed the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and later released on a citation after sobering.
Vehicle Burglary
On September 26 at 11:27 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Alta Vista regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked his vehicle on the street in front of his residence. Upon his return his sliding rear window was open. Stolen out of his vehicle was a laptop and backpack. The investigation is continuing.
Receiving Stolen Property / Possession of Burglary Tools / Possess of a Controlled Substance / Possession of smoking Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On September 26 at 11:35 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of North Shamrock regarding a suspicious male subject. The officer recognized the subject from recent theft calls and burglary investigations. The subject was loading his vehicle and trailer with property. The subject did not have an answer to where, why and how he obtained a variety of expensive merchandise. The subsequent investigation revealed the subject was in possession of stolen property, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The vehicle and trailer were stored. The investigation is continuing.
Theft from a Vehicle
On September 26 at 1:01 p.m., a resident called to report a theft in the 400 block of West Duarte. The victim’s purse was stolen out of her vehicle while she was at the coin car wash. She does not know how it occurred. The investigation is continuing.
Dog Bite
On September 26 at 11:14 p.m., a resident called to report he had been bitten by a neighbor’s dog in the 500 block of East Los Angeles. The victim was walking home along the front yard of his neighbor's fence line, when his neighbor's dog jumped up and bit the victim's right arm. The victim suffered three puncture wounds as a result of the dog bite, and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The dog remained confined in his own yard during and after the incident occurred. The dog owner was identified and advised to keep his dog away from the fence line. Pasadena Humane Society was contacted and they will follow-up with all parties involved.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
On September 27 at 1:29 a.m., a driver was stopped for unsafe speed. A subsequent investigation revealed the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for driving under the Influence of alcohol.
Commercial Burglary
On September 27 at 3:55 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 300 block of West Huntington regarding a subject inside the business. The suspect entered the grocery store but did not see the reporting party. The reporting party called the police on his cell phone. Officers surrounded the building and with the help from Arcadia Police Department. The employee was rescued and the interior searched for the suspect with negative results. The suspect did gain entry into the store safe and stole approximately $60 to $80 dollars. The Investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for July 27-29, 2015

Possession of a Controlled Substance/Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspects Arrested
July 28 at 9:03 a.m., officers responded to a parking structure in the 700 block of South Myrtle on the report of a subject passed out behind the wheel of a white Honda. When the officers arrived, they found two male subjects in the vehicle. As the driver exited the  vehicle, he dropped a syringe containing what appeared to be heroin. The passenger attempted to run from the officers, but an officer gave chase and detained the second suspect. A search of the vehicle revealed additional heroin and methamphetamine; both suspects were arrested.
Injury Hit & Run Collision – Suspect Arrested
July 28 at 12:04 p.m., a hit and run collision that just occurred was reported at Primrose and Oak. Witnesses followed the suspect vehicle, a black BMW with major collision damage, and reported the vehicle was parked at a residence on Heather Heights. The Foothill Air Support helicopter arrived above the residence and watched the vehicle in the driveway until officers could arrive. The father of the suspect driver called police from work. He received a call from his juvenile son, admitting he was involved in the collision.
Further investigation revealed the son was unlicensed and had taken his father's car without permission. The suspect was arrested for felony hit and run.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
July 29 at 4:01 p.m., officers stopped a male subject for a vehicle code violation. The subject was found to be driving on a suspended license. He had several outstanding warrants for his arrest and is currently on parole. He was arrested and his vehicle was stored.

For those of you asking, MPD was on the street twice this week.  It wasn't for a crime, but a civil matter between a home owner and a contractor per MPD.  No crime or criminal concern for us her on Poinsettia.

Highlighted Activity for July 23-26, 2015

Robbery/Warrants – Suspect Arrested
July 23 at 2:22 p.m., a suspect entered a business in the 100 block of West Foothill and selected merchandise. He walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise and was confronted by a loss prevention agent in front of the store. A struggle ensued, and the suspect bit the agent on the arm, attempting to flee with the stolen merchandise; he was detained by loss prevention agents. An officer arrived and arrested the suspect for robbery. A computer check revealed the suspect also had two
outstanding warrants for his arrest, which were added to his charges.
Petty Theft
July 23 at 3:47 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of West Duarte Road regarding a theft investigation. The victim reported his apartment storage unit had been broken into and miscellaneous camping and ski equipment was stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Robbery
July 23 at 6:49 p.m., a robbery was reported at a business in the 300 block of West Huntington. Officers arrived and were informed that the robbery actually occurred the day before. Employees reported that a male suspect came into the store and walked down one of the aisles. He was carrying a backpack, and as he exited the aisle, he walked directly out of the store, sounding the theft alarm. An employee followed the suspect outside and asked him to come back into the store. The suspect told the employee he had a knife and to leave him alone. The employee turned and went back into the store. The employee did not report the incident to his manager until the next day. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Verified Complaint Filed
July 23 at 10:51 p.m., dispatch received a call of a solo vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Olive and Shamrock. Officers responded and located a vehicle that had collided into a block wall. The driver was still inside the vehicle.
After investigation, officers determined the driver had been drinking and was driving under the influence. He also had several medical conditions and was taken to a hospital. A verified complaint for the charges will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office.
Vehicle Vandalism/Attempt Burglary
July 24 at 8:06 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of West Cherry regarding vehicle vandalism. The victim stated his vehicle's rear window had been smashed. An officer investigated and determined nothing had been stolen.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
July 24 at 1:25 p.m., a petty theft was reported at a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain. The suspect was detained by loss prevention for stealing a power drill and several deadbolts. The suspect was positively identified and determined to be on probation for burglary. The suspect was arrested and received a citation to appear in court on the charge.
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 24 at 8:54 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Palm and Primrose for a vehicle code violation. During the contact for the traffic stop, the suspect told the officer he had marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
July 25 at 3:22 a.m., officers observed two male subjects at a park in the 700 block of East Lemon after the park had closed. The officers contacted the subjects and determined one of them displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Further investigation confirmed this and smoking paraphernalia was also located on the subject. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Medical Assist
July 26 at 7:25 p.m., dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol reporting a female subject in distress. She was crying and asking for police help. She was calling from her cell phone and disconnected from CHP before they could get any information.
Monrovia dispatchers called the woman back on her cell phone, but could not get any identifying information from her either. Monrovia dispatchers then conducted a thorough investigation and were finally able to contact the woman’s husband. He said she was driving from Las Vegas in a rental car. The husband called his wife and she said she was parked behind a business in Monrovia. Officers responded and located the vehicle behind a gas station in the 700 block of West Huntington. The female was extremely intoxicated and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
