Petty Theft From a Vehicle
May 5 at 8:30 a.m., two vehicles on a property in the 400 block of Scenic were left unlocked overnight. Someone went through the vehicles during the night and stole several items. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
May 5 at 12:19 p.m., a petty theft from a vehicle was reported at a business parking lot in the 200 block of E. Huntington. The victim parked their vehicle in the parking lot and returned to find their windows had been shattered and miscellaneous items were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary / Grand Theft
May 4 at 1:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding a grand theft. The victim parked their vehicle in the parking lot and went into the business. When they returned to their vehicle, they saw a window had been smashed and their camera equipment that was in the vehicle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
May 4 at 3:55 p.m., loss prevention personnel at a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington phoned police to report they had detained a male suspect for petty theft. The suspect had left the store with merchandise without paying. The suspect was arrested and received a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Residential Burglary
May 4 at 8:51 p.m., officers responded to a residential burglary in the 400 block of N. Primrose. The victims arrived home and went inside to find their house had been ransacked and the suspects were still inside the location. As the victims entered, the suspects fled out of the house and through a neighbor's yard. The victims ran outside and saw the suspects getting into a waiting vehicle. The vehicle is described as a silver Subaru hatchback with paper plates that said "Sierra." The three suspects were all male and were wearing hooded sweatshirts. The loss is still being determined and the investigation is continuing.
Trespassing / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
May 4 at 10:01 p.m., residents in the 200 block of Montana called police stating they were detaining a subject who was trespassing and refusing to leave. Officers arrived and learned the father was restraining his son. The officer told the father to let go and the officer detained the subject. The officer searched the subject and located a large quantity of methamphetamine and powder cocaine. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Armed Robbery
May 4 at 11:10 p.m., police dispatch received a robbery alarm activation from the 7- Eleven in the 900 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and made contact with the employee who pushed the robbery button. He said he had been robbed at gunpoint. The victim described the suspects as male Blacks wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts. One suspect had a black handgun.
The suspects entered the business and asked for a package of cigars. When the employee turned around, he saw one of the suspects had a gun pointed at him. The other suspect told the employee he wanted the money from the register. The employee opened the one register and set the till on the counter. The suspects told him to open the other register. The employee told the suspects he did not have the pin number to open it. They became impatient and left the store on foot with the till from the one register. An area check was completed, but the suspects were not located and the investigation is continuing.
There were multiple armed robberies with similar suspect information at other 7-Elevens in the San Gabriel Valley that same night, as well as on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Vehicle Burglaries
May 5 at 4:13 a.m., two vehicles were reported burglarized at a residence in the 1000 block of Norumbega Drive. The victim heard his vehicle alarm sounding, so he came outside to investigate and saw his trunk open and his driver-side window shattered. Two pairs of tennis shoes were taken from the trunk. A second vehicle that belongs to the victim’s girlfriend was also burglarized and the window shattered. A keychain with several keys and an access key card was taken from the vehicle.
At 6:01 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Norumbega Drive reported two vehicles had been broken into and items were taken. Both vehicles had their windows shattered. The investigation revealed the suspects were casing the area in a dark-colored Ford Explorer and the crime occurred between 4:00 to 4:09 a.m. The investigations are continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
May 5 at 12:21 p.m., an officer was returning from court and saw a subject he knew had warrants out for his arrest. The subject was riding his bicycle in the area of Myrtle and Cypress. A computer check revealed the subject had four warrants for resisting arrest and driving under the influence on a bike. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
May 5 at 9:49 p.m., dispatch received multiple calls reporting a subject lying down on the railroad tracks at Duarte and Mayflower. Metro also called and said they had stopped the train due to the subject on the tracks. Officers responded and located the subject, but he was no longer on the tracks. The subject was extremely intoxicated and was unable to care for his own safety. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 6 at 3:04 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Central and Myrtle when he saw a vehicle commit a traffic code violation. He stopped the vehicle and when speaking to the driver, he could smell the odor of alcohol. Through investigation, the driver was determined to be under the influence and was arrested and taken into custody.
Grand Theft
May 6 at 6:58 a.m., a grand theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of W. Scenic. The victim called to report his specialized tools had been stolen from his unsecured vehicle. He had left his vehicle parked on Heather Heights for several days and when he returned to his vehicle, the tools were gone. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Battery – Suspect Arrested
May 6 at 1:34 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Walnut on a welfare check. The female subject was concerned about the well-being of her boyfriend, who had left the location. During the investigation, it was discovered that the female subject was a victim of domestic battery. Officers located the suspect in Bradbury and placed him under arrest without incident.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
May 6 at 2:34 p.m., loss prevention from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a suspect had stolen merchandise and was running from the location. Officers responded and located the suspect attempting to hide nearby. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Critical Missing – Subject Located
May 6 at 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of E. Walnut regarding a developmentally disabled, 17-year-old male who was visiting and had wandered away from the location. Officers immediately began an area check and surrounding agencies were contacted, as well as the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter. The subject was located by Monrovia’s Special Enforcement Team officers in Arcadia after approximately 30 minutes and was returned to his family.
Vandalism / Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
May 6 at 11:39 p.m., a subject causing a disturbance at a business in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle was reported to police. Officers arrived and detained a subject who was under the influence and had confronted two customers, vandalizing one of their vehicles. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
May 7 at 2:18 p.m., a shoplifting incident was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. A male suspect entered the business, selected merchandise and left the store without paying for the items. The suspect dropped the items as he ran out of the store. Officers located the suspect in the area and learned he also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for shoplifting and the warrants.
Public Intoxication

May 7 at 10:35 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Eighth Avenue regarding a man down. They arrived and found a male subject lying on the driveway of a home that did not belong to him. Officers determined he was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.

Highlighted Activity for February 16-19, 2017

Stolen Vehicle Recovered
February 16 at 10:56 a.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a business parking lot in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. Officers located the vehicle and determined it was stolen. The vehicle was processed and returned to the owner. No suspects were located.
Residential Burglary
February 16 at 8:59 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of N. Encinitas. An unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked back door and took a backpack belonging to a juvenile. The suspect then fled. The investigation is continuing.
Battery
February 17 at 11:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of S. Magnolia to investigate a physical altercation between a mother and her adult daughter, which has been an ongoing problem. The mother has signed a no trespass order against her daughter, who has returned to the residence on multiple occasions for a variety of reasons,a` and has been arrested for violation of the order. The mother allowed the daughter to stay at the home overnight, but then asked her to leave because DCFS was coming to the house and the daughter was not supposed to be there. The two began to argue and the argument turned physical. A report will be filed with the District Attorney’s office for battery charges.
Possession of Methamphetamine / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
February 17 at 2:27 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was reported in the 200 block of N. Ivy Avenue. An officer arrived and located the vehicle and a person in the driver's seat who appeared to be hiding from the officer. During the course of the investigation, the officer discovered the driver had several warrants, no license, and methamphetamine on his person. The suspect was arrested.
Residential Burglary
February 17 at 11:09 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of Bradbury. The victim left his residence for several hours. When he returned, he found
the back sliding door shattered and his home had been ransacked. The resident is determining the loss. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle
February 18 at 8:15 a.m., the victim parked their vehicle in their apartment complex parking lot in the 900 block of W. Walnut in the evening. They returned to the lot in the morning and the vehicle had been stolen. The keys were in the vehicle. The vehicle is a 2015 Lexus IS 250. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence
February 18 at 12:54 p.m., a victim of domestic violence went to her friend’s home and told the friend that her boyfriend had beaten her. The incident occurred in the 200 block of W. Colorado and the victim had visible injuries; she was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Officers went to the boyfriend's residence and interviewed him. He was then arrested for domestic violence.
Vehicle Burglary
February 18 at 3:44 p.m., employees at a business in the 1100 block of E. Huntington witnessed a male Hispanic suspect with a tattoo on his neck enter a locked vehicle in the business parking lot. The suspect fled in a gold, 4-door sedan, possibly a Honda or Toyota. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
February 18 at 3:50 p.m., two suspicious vehicles were reported in the 700 block of E. Royal Oaks, possibly involved in drug activity. Officers arrived and located the two vehicles. One vehicle was found to be a reported stolen vehicle from Upland. The vehicle was recovered and the investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle
February 18 at 5:11 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Sherman. The victim reported his green, 2000 Honda Civic had been stolen sometime between 12:00 and 5:10 p.m. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Robbery
February 18 at 6:25 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at a business in the 100 block of W. Huntington. A male suspect entered the location wearing a grey and green hooded sweatshirt and revealed a black handgun in his waistband. He demanded money from the cash register, which the employee gave to him, placing it in a Walmart bag. The suspect then fled the location. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
February 18 at 8:11 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington reported a theft that had just occurred. The suspect concealed items on his person and exited the store. An officer responded and detained the suspect nearby. The stolen property was recovered and the suspect was arrested.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
February 18 at 10:51 p.m., a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier in the day from the 900 block of W. Walnut was recovered in Upland by the Upland Police Department. A
Monrovia officer responded to Upland to process the vehicle for fingerprints. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Battery
February 19 at 7:46 a.m., a battery incident was reported in the 500 block of Cloverleaf Drive. The investigation revealed that a boyfriend and girlfriend were in a verbal argument that turned physical. The female struck her live-in boyfriend with a broom. The male complained of pain to his hand. The female was arrested for domestic battery.
Felony Hit & Run Traffic Collision
February 19 at 3:51 p.m., the victim driver was traveling west on Huntington and came to a stop at Mayflower. The suspect rear-ended the victim's vehicle and then fled the area. The victim and a passenger complained of neck pain. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for December 8-11, 2016

Shoplifting / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
December 8 at 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain on the report of a shoplifter. A male adult subject concealed merchandise on his person and left the store without paying. The male suspect was seen leaving the area in a vehicle. The vehicle description and direction of travel was broadcast to officers. A responding officer located a matching vehicle and conducted an investigative traffic stop. The male adult driver matched the suspect description and was acting very nervous. He quickly admitted to stealing the item from the business and told the officer he had methamphetamine in his vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Robbery
December 8 at 7:55 p.m., a business in the 900 block of W. Huntington called police to report a robbery. The suspect entered the business and pointed a silver handgun at the employee. He demanded to go to the back of the store. The suspect took cash and ten iPhones from the store, and then fled. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, possibly Indian, wearing dark clothing, a dark colored hoodie and possibly a dark beanie. The investigation is continuing.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
December 9 at 7:48 a.m., two vehicles collided at the intersection of Myrtle and Pomona. Both drivers claimed it was the other person’s fault. Officers located a surveillance camera that recorded the entire incident. The party at fault was identified, informed and received a citation to appear in court.
Residential Burglary
December 9 at 7:22 p.m., police dispatch received notification of multiple alarm activations at a residence in the 200 block of N. Mayflower. Officers arrived and discovered forced entry was made through a rear door. The location was searched with the assistance of a neighboring agency canine unit, but the suspect was not located. The residence had been ransacked.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 10 at 12:41 a.m., officers saw a subject they recognized in the 400 block of E. Huntington that they knew had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A computer check confirmed he had an outstanding warrant and the suspect was arrested without incident.
Petty Theft / Possession of a Controlled Substance – Suspects Arrested
December 10 at 2:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington on the report of a theft. Loss prevention officers observed two male subjects load merchandise into two duffle bags and leave the store without paying. Officers arrived and located the suspects in front of the business. They also located the stolen merchandise and arrested the suspects. The officers located other possible stolen property that is being held for observation and heroin, which one of the suspects had on his person.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Drunk in Public – Suspects Arrested
December 11 at 3:16 a.m., an officer observed a driver commit a vehicle code violation in the 1300 block of S. Myrtle Avenue. He stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver. While speaking to the driver, the officer noted obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver was arrested for DUI, held for a sobering period and later released with a citation to appear in court. Two passengers in the vehicle were also arrested for being drunk in public and were held for a sobering period, as they were too intoxicated to care for their own safety.
Mail Theft
December 11 at 8:49 a.m., a theft of mail incident was reported at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of S. Alta Vista. It appears the suspects had a postal key to open all the apartment mailboxes. All mail was taken. Pieces of mail from Arcadia residents were found in the street. Arcadia Police Department was notified and the investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for November 10-13, 2016

Residential Burglary
November 10 at 6:24 p.m., a resident in the 1500 block of S. Fifth Avenue called police to report she had just returned home from work and found her home had been burglarized. Although a complete list of stolen property could not be immediately compiled, two rifles were among the items stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Disturbing Subject / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
November 10 at 7:09 p.m., a disturbing subject was reported yelling and screaming in the 700 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and located a subject matching the description. A computer check revealed the subject had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was arrested for the warrants and taken into custody.
Loitering / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
November 10 at 8:28 p.m., several subjects were reported loitering in front of a business in the 700 block of W. Huntington. Officers arrived and found one of the subjects had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody. The subject was held pending his court appearance.
Driving Under the Influence Traffic Collision / Child Endangerment – Suspect Arrested
November 10 at 8:49 p.m., a resident in the 300 block of Longford Place called police to report a vehicle had collided into her neighbors’ yards. Officers arrived and the investigation revealed the driver was extremely intoxicated and had her 16-year-old son in the vehicle at the time of the collision. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence and child endangerment.
Juvenile Problem / Vandalism / theft
November 11 at 10:00 p.m., approximately ten juveniles were reported in the 100 block of W. Foothill causing a disturbance in a parking lot. Several subjects entered a laundromat and repeatedly kicked a vending machine, causing damage to where the
coins are held. The suspects stole miscellaneous coins from the damaged machine and fled. The investigation is continuing.
Robbery
November 11 at 10:46 p.m., police responded to the report of a robbery in the 400 block of S. Ivy. The victim parked his vehicle on Canyon and the south alley of Lime. He walked west in the alley, heading to the downtown area to meet friends. Two suspects approached, brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The suspects robbed the victim of his cell phone, wallet and miscellaneous personal property, then fled on foot. An extensive search was conducted by officers, but the suspects were not located. The suspects were described as male blacks, but additional description was difficult because their features were concealed by the hoods on their sweatshirts. The investigation is continuing.
Welfare Check / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
November 12 at 10:52 p.m., a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington called police stating there was a subject sleeping on their bench outside their to-go pickup area. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject. A computer check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant.
Vehicle Burglary
November 13 at 1:19 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business parking lot in the 700 block of W. Huntington regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked his SUV in the parking lot and locked it. He returned to his vehicle a short time later to discover his vehicle had been broken into and the third row seats had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspects Arrested
November 13 at 6:01 p.m., officers responded to the area of Grand and Foothill regarding possible shots heard. As they searched the area, two subjects were contacted and questioned about the possible shots heard. As the officer approached one of the subjects, he reached into his pocket and dropped items behind a brick wall. The items were found to be a glass pipe for smoking drugs and a syringe. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. During a search of his person, a baggie of methamphetamine was found in his pocket. The other suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant. There was no evidence of gunshots and only one call was received by police.
Theft
November 14 at 5:14 a.m., a theft was reported in the 500 block of W. Colorado. The victim called police to report that high-value parts were stolen from his motorcycle that was parked in his driveway overnight. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for March 24-27, 2016

Grand Theft Auto Recovered / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
March 24 at 1:06 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle that appeared suspicious. It was driving slowly in the 200 block of W. Colorado and making unusual turns. The driver eventually stopped abruptly and motioned to the officer to pass. The officer pulled in behind the vehicle and ran a license plate check, which revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of West Covina and had been used in a carjacking. There were three occupants in the vehicle; a male and female were taken into custody and a third female subject fled, but was not located. Drug paraphernalia was found on the male driver of the vehicle. The two suspects were arrested. The male suspect was later released to the West Covina Police Department on the grand theft auto charges.
Domestic Violence
March 25 at 2:41 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of N. Fifth regarding a domestic violence incident. A male and female that have been living together for 11 years were involved in an argument. During the argument, the male subject punched the female subject in the head and then pushed and shoved her, causing visible injuries. The male subject fled the area prior to police arrival. An Emergency Protective Order was obtained. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Offense / Speed Contest – Suspect Arrested
March 25 at 6:23 p.m., an officer observed two vehicles that were racing each other on Huntington Drive. The officer was able to stop one of the vehicles. He contacted the driver, who admitted to racing the other vehicle. A police helicopter searched for the second vehicle, but it was not located. The suspect that was detained was arrested and later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Injury Traffic Collision – Vehicle Versus Pedestrian
March 25 at 9:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to Mayflower and Evergreen regarding a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. Investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking south on Mayflower in a marked crosswalk at Evergreen. A vehicle was traveling south on Mayflower and made a left turn onto Evergreen. The driver did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk and struck him. The victim landed on the hood of the vehicle, rolled off and struck his head on the pavement. He was taken to a hospital with serious head trauma. The victim was later listed in stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 26 at 2:14 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation traveling north on Peck at Live Oak. The officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver. After further investigation, the officer determined the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, held for a sobering period and later released with a citation to appear in court.

March 26 at 2:18 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop on Mountain at Central. Investigation revealed the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, held for a sobering period and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Traffic Collision / Felony Driving Under Influence – Suspect Arrested
March 26 at 2:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Huntington and Ivy regarding a solo vehicle traffic collision. The investigation revealed the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of his vehicle and struck the curb in the intersection. A passenger in the suspect's vehicle was injured during the collision and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspect was arrested for felony DUI and held pending his court appearance.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
March 26 at 10:37 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of W. Cherry regarding a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, the female victim told them she was involved in an argument with her boyfriend. She reported that he choked her, hit her and threw keys at her, causing visible injuries. The suspect was still at the location and was uncooperative. The suspect was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Identity Theft – Suspect Arrested
March 26 at 7:40 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Primrose and Pomona when they heard a woman screaming. The officers located a male and female involved in a verbal altercation. A consent search of their vehicle resulted in the discovery of a notebook that belonged to the male suspect. The notebook was found to contain personal, identifying information from multiple victims. The suspect was arrested for identity theft and held until his court appearance.
Robbery / Canyon and Colorado
March 26 at 10:48 p.m., a victim called police and reported he was robbed at gunpoint by four male subjects at Canyon and Colorado. The victim stated the suspects were all wearing blue bandanas and all had semi-automatic handguns. The suspects ransacked the victims vehicle and stole his wallet and skateboard. The suspects fled south on foot, but were not located after an extensive search. Later, the victim called and stated he found his wallet in a nearby alley. During the robbery, the suspects made statements about belonging to a local street gang. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence
March 27 at 10:39 a.m., a female and male who are boyfriend and girlfriend were in an argument in the 400 block of Duarte Road. The boyfriend began hitting and kicking the girlfriend. She sustained numerous visible injuries, but did not want paramedics to treat her. She also refused a Protection Order. The boyfriend fled the location prior to police arriving. A wanted person entry was issued in the law enforcement system for the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
March 28 at 1:04 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Duarte Road for an alarm call at a business. The officer arrived and found a large window had been smashed with an unknown object. The business owner checked the location and found that nothing had been taken. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for August 3-5, 2015

Attempt Commercial Burglary

August 3 at 9:40 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 800 block of East Huntington regarding an attempt burglary. The owner received a call from his alarm company on August 2 at 12:56 p.m., stating the alarm was going off due to possible glass breakage. The owner told the alarm company he thought it was a false alarm and that they did not need to call the police. When the owner arrived at work the next morning, the framing around the window had been removed. It appeared that the suspect was attempting to remove the front glass window and was scared off by the alarm. The investigation is continuing.

Grand Theft

August 4 at 9:27 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of West Olive regarding the theft of a catalytic converter. The victim parked his vehicle, a Honda Element, on the street in front of his residence. He returned to his vehicle the next morning and discovered the catalytic converter had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.

Vehicle Burglary

August 4 at 11:51 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of South Primrose. Unknown suspects took tools from company vehicles that were parked in the business parking lot. The theft occurred sometime during the night when the business was closed and utility work bags containing telephone repair equipment were stolen.  The employees reported that the vehicles were locked, but there was no sign of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.

Theft of Mail

August 4 at 2:07 p.m., a theft of mail that had just occurred was reported in the 200 block of West Hillcrest. A package was stolen from the porch of a residence. A tan Chevy Suburban was seen stopping in front of the residence. A juvenile exited the vehicle, wearing athletic clothing, and took a package from the front porch. The suspect got back into the vehicle and fled west on Hillcrest. The driver of the vehicle was described as a female Black. The investigation is continuing.

Armed Robbery

August 4 at 11:28 a.m., officers responded to a gas station in the 700 block of West Huntington on an armed robbery that had occurred 40 minutes prior. Although the report was delayed, officers searched the area for the suspects, who were reported to be two male Blacks in their late teens to early 20's. The suspects were wearing all dark clothing with jeans, and they had half their faces covered with bandana type material. They had red shoe laces and red belts. One of the suspects was armed with a black handgun. 

The suspects entered the gas station store, pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded

cash. The clerk opened the register and one of the suspects removed the cash. Both

suspects fled in a southwest direction on foot. The investigation is continuing.

Possession of Burglary Tools/Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession

of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested

August 5 at 2:50 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 700 block of East Greystone when

he observed a suspicious subject unloading items from a vehicle. Believing a theft was

possibly occurring, he contacted the subject. Although the vehicle was determined to

belong to the subject, he was found to be in possession of burglary tools, over five

grams of methamphetamine, and a methamphetamine pipe. He was arrested for the

violations and taken into custody.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision

On August 5 at 4:04 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of West Duarte

Road regarding a hit and run traffic collision. Three parked vehicles were side-swiped

by an unknown vehicle. This investigation is continuing.

Petty Theft

On August 5 at 7:27 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of South Encinitas

regarding a theft of a purse report. At 7:10 p.m. the victim left her purse inside her

unlocked vehicle, which was parked in front of her residence. Upon returning at 7:20

p.m. she discovered that her purse had been stolen. This investigation is continuing.

Armed Robbery – Suspects Arrested
On June 1 at 1:13 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a red Chevy Camaro on Foothill for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied by two male subjects in their twenties. The subjects claimed they were looking for an address and were distracted. The driver was let go with a warning.

Shortly after, a female victim was robbed of her Verizon note pad by two male suspects in a red Chevy Camaro with handguns. Officers searched for the suspects and vehicle, but were unable to locate them.

On June 1 at 10:27 p.m., the officer that made the original traffic stop saw the vehicle and suspects stopped at Madison and Foothill. A high-risk stop was made with the assistance of the Foothill Air Support helicopter. A search of the vehicle revealed two Airsoft guns and the property stolen in the robbery. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody, and the vehicle was stored as evidence.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
June 2 at 10:02 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision at Colorado and Mayflower. One of the vehicles tried fleeing the scene and the other driver chased after the vehicle. Both vehicles stopped at Olive and Monterey until officers arrived. Further investigation revealed the fleeing driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence. There were no injuries from the collision.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
June 4 at 12:06 a.m., officers responded to the report of a female yelling for help in the 1800 block of South Mayflower. Officers arrived and located the house where the screaming was coming from. Investigation revealed the female subject had attacked her husband while he was trying to go to sleep. The husband had visible injuries to his neck and face. The wife was arrested for domestic violence.

Vehicle Burglary
May 29 at 2:45 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of West Huntington. The victim's vehicle was parked and locked in a parking stall. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the victim's passenger window and removed property that was left on the front passenger seat. The investigation is continuing.
Bear Incident
May 29 at 10:03 a.m., and officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Wildrose regarding a bear. The homeowner saw a bear rip the metal screen off of the crawl space under her house, but didn't know if the bear had crawled inside the space. The officer checked the crawl space and the surrounding area, but the bear was gone from the location.
Bear Incident
May 29 at 2:44 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of East Foothill called police and reported a bear swimming in the backyard pool of the home. An officer arrived and saw a juvenile bear in the backyard. He attempted to get the bear to move back into the foothills, however, it wouldn't leave the area. The officer then deployed two beanbag rounds at the bear, which successfully influenced the bear to return to the foothills.
Bear Incident
May 29 at 3:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Crescent on the report of a very large bear in a resident's backyard, but when officers arrived, the bear was gone. Callers began reporting the bear walking along Hillcrest. Officers responded to Hillcrest and located the bear in a backyard at the base of a large tree. They discovered her two cubs at the top of the tree. The mother began walking toward the officers, so two beanbags rounds were deployed at her, causing her to run away from the officers. She jumped a fence into another yard and then couldn't be found. The Department of Fish and Wildlife responded and stayed in the area until the cubs came down out of the tree to reunite with their mother and they all returned to the foothills.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
May 29 at 8:25 p.m., a non-injury traffic collision was reported in the 800 block of Monterey. The investigation revealed that one of the motorists was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, taken into custody, and held for sobering.
Unlicensed Driver / Incident Report – Suspect Arrested 
May 30 at 1:17 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation. Further investigation revealed the motorist was an unlicensed driver and was found to be in possession of documents containing other people’s social security numbers. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. The officer determined the suspect was using the social security numbers for employment purposes. The investigation is continuing and the report will be forward to the IRS to protect potential victims from receiving IRS penalties for unreported income.
Warrant Arrest
May 30 at 2:02 a.m., an officer was on patrol and stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation in the area of Peck and Emery. The officer discovered the motorist had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was issued by the El Monte Police Department. The officer arrested the suspect for the warrant and El Monte police officers responded to the Monrovia jail and took custody of the suspect.

Suspect Arrested
May 30 at 9:38 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington Drive regarding suspicious subjects loitering behind a store. When the officer arrived, he contacted the subjects and determined one of them, a female, was under the influence of methamphetamine. She was also found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine pipe. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Possession of Metal Knuckles / Minors in Possession of Alcohol – Suspects
Arrested
May 30 at 11:04 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 200 block of East Olive when he noticed two suspicious subjects loitering in the alley. The officer attempted to contact the subjects and they ran from him. The officer eventually found the subjects hiding  behind a vehicle and discovered they were minors that were consuming alcohol. The officer also found metal knuckles beneath the vehicle where the juveniles were hiding. The juveniles were arrested and released on citations to their parents.
Armed Robbery
June 1 at 2:03 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Myrtle on the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The female victim reported she had been robbed approximately 15 minutes prior at the intersection of Myrtle and Huntington. She told the officers she had left a bar in the 400 block of South Myrtle and had walked to Huntington and Myrtle alone. A red Chevrolet Camaro drove up next to her and stopped. A male passenger exited the vehicle, pointed a black handgun at her and demanded she give him her purse. The victim refused, so the suspect grabbed the purse and they began to struggle with it. She told him to take everything except her phone. The male driver then leaned over the passenger seat, pointed another gun at the victim, and ordered the other suspect to shoot her.
Distracted, the purse was pulled from the victim's grasp and its contents fell onto the ground. The suspect began picking up the contents and putting it back into the purse. The female picked up her phone. Once all the contents were back in the purse, the suspect walked up to the female and grabbed her phone. Both suspects then fled in the vehicle west on Huntington. Officers searched the area

Robbery – Suspects Arrested
May 11 at 4:40 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 1600 block of South Mountain. A suspect was observed stealing a pipe cutter from the business and walking out of the store without paying for the item. He was stopped by the loss prevention officer outside the store. As the loss prevention officer was attempting to take custody of the suspect, a second suspect approached and struck the loss prevention officer with brass knuckles, and both suspects fled. A description of the suspects was broadcast and both suspects were detained at Evergreen in the city of Duarte.
CHP Pursuit of Motorcycle
May 11 at 7:44 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of West Huntington regarding a motorcycle crash. Further investigation revealed the California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of the speeding motorcycle, westbound on Huntington, when it ran into a vehicle, throwing the rider approximately 100 feet. The rider was taken to a hospital with nonlife- threatening injuries. The collision and investigation was handled by the CHP.
Missing Adult Located
May 11 at 9:29 p.m., a male subject came into the police station to report his 81-yearold father missing. The father lives at a retirement home in the 100 block of South Myrtle, but often stays the night with friends. He was at a friend’s house earlier in the day, but was last seen leaving the residence on foot. The son contacted police when his father failed to return to the retirement home.
Officers eventually located the missing subject at a donut shop in El Monte by tracking his cell phone. El Monte officers responded to the location and detained the father until the Monrovia officer arrived. The subject was taken back to the retirement home. Adult Protective Services was notified of the incident.
Robbery/Cell Phone
May 12 at 5:10 p.m., two female teens were walking in 100 block of West Duarte when they were approached by two male teens. One of the male suspects brandished a black handgun and robbed one of the girls of her cell phone, then fled the scene. The female victims went home to Duarte before they called police. They contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who then advised the Monrovia Police Department. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto/Vehicle Recovered – Suspect Arrested
May 13 at 2:20 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Walnut and Fifth when they saw a blacked-out vehicle that pulled up to the curb and parked. There were three subjects in the vehicle. As officers approached, the driver exited the vehicle and told the officers he had just stolen the car from San Bernardino. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for Grand Theft Auto.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
May 13 at 7:36 p.m., an officer responded to the lobby of the police station on a report of domestic violence. The victim and her boyfriend were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. The boyfriend grabbed and choked the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries from the altercation. The suspect was located and arrested for domestic violence.
Armed Robbery
May 13 at 10:26 p.m., police received a call from a business in the 300 block of West Huntington reporting a robbery that just occurred. The suspect was described as a male Black wearing blue jeans, a brown hooded sweatshirt, and a black bandana covering his face. The suspect was carrying a black handgun. He jumped the counter and ordered the register to be opened. The suspect grabbed money from the register and fled the location on foot. The investigation is continuing.

Residential Burglary
April 17 at 12:15 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of West Lemon. The victim left his residence, locked and secured, at approximately 8:00 a.m. When he returned at around 12:15 p.m., he noticed the front glass sliding door had been shattered. The house had been ransacked and property was stolen.
Stolen Semi-trailer Recovered
April 17 at 5:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Wildrose regarding a stolen semi-trailer. The trailer was taken sometime on April 11 or 12. When entered into the computer system, a recent inquiry by Arcadia Police Department was found. The trailer had been tagged as abandoned in their city. The registered owner was notified that the trailer was located.
Petty Theft / Delaying a Peace Officer / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
April 17 at 6:00 p.m., police responded to a business in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding a theft of merchandise by a female and a male subject. The female subject was observed concealing store merchandise in her purse. The subjects purchased other merchandise from the store, but did not pay for the merchandise inside the purse.
Officers arrived and detained both subjects outside the location. The female subject was confrontational with officers and would not comply with their commands. Stolen items were located in the female's purse and a stolen box cutter was found in the male subjects back pocket. The female subject also had several warrants for her arrest. She was arrested for petty theft, delaying a peace officer and the warrants. The male subject was arrested for petty theft.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 2:03 a.m., officers saw a vehicle driving erratically in the 400 block of West Huntington and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers determined the driver was intoxicated, and after investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Petty Theft / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 5:14 p.m., police responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a theft. A male subject left the store with stolen jewelry and had entered a car that was now leaving the location. Officers were in the area and observed the vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop and detained the female driver and the male suspect. The female had a suspended license and was cited. There was no evidence that she was involved in the theft. The vehicle was released to a family member. The male suspect admitted to stealing the jewelry. He also had several warrants for his
arrest. He was arrested for petty theft and the warrants.
Robbery
April 18 at 12:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle and Foothill on the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The two male victims were walking south in the 100 block of North Myrtle. They noticed a white vehicle parked along the west curb with a female Black subject sitting behind the wheel as the passed by it. They suddenly heard foot steps quickly approaching from behind and were confronted by two male Black suspects. One of the suspects pointed a black handgun at the victims and demanded their wallets. Both victims threw their wallets on the ground. The suspects picked up one of the wallets and fled, getting into the white vehicle. The vehicle was
driven away by the female subject. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Myrtle out of sight. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 12:29 p.m., officers were dispatched on the report of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of West Colorado. They responded and found two subjects sleeping inside the vehicle, one of which was a female juvenile who was in violation of the curfew ordinance. A computer check revealed the juvenile had a no-bail warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Theft From an Unlocked Vehicle
On May 5 at 4:56 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of North Myrtle. The victim parked the vehicle in front of their apartment complex. During the night, unknown suspects entered the vehicle and took a small amount of cash. The investigation is continuing.
Armed Robbery
On May 5, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to a restaurant located in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Employees reported that the suspect appeared in the kitchen as the restaurant was closing. The suspect was wearing a black ski mask over his face and was armed with an unknown caliber handgun. The suspect contacted the manager and
directed him to the office, where the safe was open and money was being prepared for deposit.
The suspect had a shopping bag in his possession and directed the manager to place the money inside. Upon receiving the money, the suspect directed the five employees to stay in the office and count to 100. The suspect then fled the location in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as male, 5’07” to 5’08” tall, thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Monrovia officers searched the area for the suspect with assistance from the Foothill Air Support helicopter and CHP officers from the Alta Dena Station who were in the area and responded, but the suspect was not located. The investigation is continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
On May 6 at 9:14 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of South Violet. The victim parked her vehicle in the evening, but was unsure if she left her vehicle unlocked or not. The next morning, she found her vehicle ransacked. Her work identification badge and an iPod were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Illegal Hydroponics Marijuana Cultivation Discovered – Suspects Arrested
On May 6 at 1:26 p.m., several tenants in a business complex complained of strong chemical fumes coming from a unit occupied by tenants claiming to operate a water filtration company. The fumes were strong enough to cause headaches and nausea. Patrol and detective resources, city code enforcement officials and hazardous material fire personnel responded to investigate.
The unit was being subleased by the original tenant and police personnel were able to speak with one of the people subleasing the unit. Consent to search the premises was obtained from the lessee, who claimed there were no toxic chemicals or anything illegal inside the unit. Hazardous materials specialists entered the unit, stating they recognized the odor of an indoor hydroponic grow of marijuana inside.
Once the unit was confirmed to be clear of any immediate hazard, police personnel searched and discovered a fully developed hydroponic grow in process. The two responsible subjects for the illegal marijuana cultivation were arrested and booked on the charges. Additional violations including municipal code and health and safety code violations may be sought.
Injury Traffic Collision
On May 6 at 1:34 p.m., police responded to an injury traffic collision reported at Magnolia and Olive. A driver was headed southbound on Magnolia when he slowly veered left and accelerated into a parked truck, hitting it head on, pushing it in to other vehicles. The driver sustained visible injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
On May 6 at 10:34 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 200 block of South Myrtle observed a male suspect he knew had a warrant out for his arrest. After confirming the warrant, he contacted the suspect and arrested him for the warrant. A subsequent search revealed the suspect was in possession of a hypodermic syringe containing an unknown liquid substance believed to be methamphetamine. He was also charged for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
May 7 at 6:16 p.m., an officer was sent to Alta Vista and Huntington regarding the report of vandalism in progress. A witness called police to report a male suspect spray painting graffiti on the public street. An officer arrived and detained the suspect, who was positively identified by a witness. The male juvenile suspect admitted to the crime. The juvenile suspect was arrested and later released to the custody of his mother on a citation to appear in court. The reporting party will be receiving Monrovia Police
Department’s Graffiti Bounty. If a citizen reports an incident of graffiti in the City of Monrovia that leads to the arrest of the suspect, the citizen will receive a $100 bill.
