Highlighted Activity for November 13-16, 2014

Attempt Vehicle Burglary
On November 13 at 7:51 a.m., an attempt vehicle burglary was reported in the 300 block of California. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the window on a Chevy Silverado pickup truck that  was parked in a rear alley. Nothing was taken from the truck. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
On November 13 at 2:10 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of California and Cherry when he stopped a motorist for a vehicle code violation. Further investigation revealed the motorist to be driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
On November 13 at 11:00 p.m., a traffic collision in the area of Huntington and Shamrock was reported to police. The driver of a vehicle had sideswiped another vehicle. Police responded and determined the driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and held for sobering.
Robbery
On November 14 at 2:55 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 600 block of South Myrtle regarding a grand theft incident. The female victim was inside a business and was holding jewelry in her hand. The suspect entered the location and grabbed the jewelry from the victim's hand, taking it by force. The suspect then left the location on foot, heading southbound on Myrtle. An area check was made, but the suspect was not located. The suspect is described as a heavyset male, unknown age, wearing jean shorts and a gray hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is continuing.
Battery / Trespassing
On November 15 at 8:54 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of East Pomona Street on the report of a battery and trespassing incident. The resident reported that he had discovered a male subject sleeping on the west side of his house in his front yard. He yelled at the subject to get off his property several times. The male subject was not leaving the property, so the resident sprayed water at him from a garden hose. The subject became angry and hit the resident in the face with his fist, causing a small cut to his nose. The subject ran west on Pomona and out of sight. Officers made an area
check for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.
He is described as a male Hispanic, 18-20 years old, 5’4” tall, medium build, wearing a black Los Angeles Dodgers cap, black shirt and brown shorts. The investigation is continuing.
Obstructing and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
On November 16 at 12:15 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of Linwood on the report of a battery incident. A male and female were involved in an argument, and the male subject pushed the female subject, causing her to fall. During the investigation, the male subject was trying to interfere with the officers and refused to comply with officers’ commands. He continued to walk away from the officers and struggled with the officers as they attempted to detain him. The male subject was arrested for obstructing and delaying a peace officer.
Trespassing
On November 16 at 9:17 a.m., police received a call from a resident in the 100 block of
East Pomona reporting a burglary suspect inside his residence. The property owner
was out front when officers arrived, but the suspect had fled. The resident left the
property for a short time in the morning, and when he returned home, he found the
subject in a bedroom closet. The residence is under construction and appears vacant
from the outside. The owner of the residence is staying in a back bedroom on the
property, but the rest of the residence is empty. The resident had found the same
subject sleeping on his property on November 15; see above battery/trespassing
incident. The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 18-20 years old, wearing dark
shorts and a dark shirt. The investigation is continuing.
