Highlighted Activity for April 27-29, 2015

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 27 at 8:37 p.m., two officers were on a call at the corner of Myrtle and Olive when they saw a vehicle driving south on Myrtle, blaring loud music. The vehicle made a right turn onto Olive, against eastbound traffic. The officers shined their flashlight on the driver and she abruptly pulled into a parking lot. The officers contacted the driver and through investigation determined she was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested for DUI and held for sobering.
Domestic Violence
April 27 at 10:19 p.m., a domestic dispute was reported at a residence in the 700 block of Mountain View. The male suspect left the location prior to police arrival. The female stated that her boyfriend slashed her fingers with a set of keys during a verbal dispute. Paramedics responded to the residence and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her cut fingers. A wanted person entry was made into the law enforcement system for the suspect and his vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
April 28 at 5:53 a.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of East Duarte Road regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. The burglary happened sometime during the night. There were several batteries taken from the vehicle.
Possession of a Controlled Substance/Warrants – Suspects Arrested
April 29 at 6:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to the rear of a residence in the 100 block of East Olive regarding two subjects in a white truck, possibly dealing drugs. Officers arrived and contacted three subjects in the truck. Investigation revealed that one of the subjects had a large quantity of marijuana in his possession. He was arrested for drug possession. The other two subjects had outstanding warrants for their arrest and were also taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for April 23-26, 2015

Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 24 at 3:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Linwood and Magnolia regarding a male subject that was possibly intoxicated and was staggering on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, the officer found the subject seated and leaning up against a parked vehicle. The officer determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own personal safety. He was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 12:27 a.m., an officer on patrol in the 700 block of East Lemon saw a suspicious subject loitering at a park after hours. The officer contacted the subject and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer arrested the subject for the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 2:52 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Myrtle and Longden when she observed a motorist exceeding the posted speed limit. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and determined the driver to be intoxicated. The officer arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The driver was later released on a citation after sobering.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 4:37 p.m., Special Enforcement Team officers stopped a vehicle in a shopping center parking lot in the 700 block of West Huntington for a vehicle code violation. A computer check of the driver revealed he had a warrant for his arrest and was driving without a license. The warrant was for a criminal case against the driver that was initiated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 8:04 p.m., an officer conducted a warrant service at a location in the 200 block of Valle Vista. The officer located the suspect at the location and arrested him per the authority of the warrant. The suspect was taken into custody and remained housed pending his court appearance date.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 25 at 8:51 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of East Altern when he saw a male subject in a driveway and recognized him from prior contacts. The officer knew the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He made contact with the suspect and confirmed the warrant. He arrested the suspect per the authority of the warrant.
Weapons Offense/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 12:19 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of North Norumbega regarding the report of a suspicious subject in the area. The officer located the subject and detained him. During the course of the investigation, the officer found the subject to be in possession of a dagger and a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested for the weapons offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 1:09 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of East Lemon when he stopped a subject on a bicycle for a vehicle code violation. Further investigation revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer arrested the suspect per the authority of the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 1:53 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Peck and Live Oak stopped a motorist for lane straddling. Further investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, taken into custody and heldfor sobering.
Vandalism
April 26 at 1:32 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 700 block of West Olive.  Unknown suspect(s) shot a BB through a glass door window of a residence. A silver, 4-door, compact vehicle being driven by a female was seen slowing down in front of thevictim's home. Two or three shots from what is believed to be an Airsoft BB gun werefired at the residence. The suspect vehicle then fled toward Monterey. The investigation is continuing.
Traffic Collision with Property Damage
April 26 at 7:28 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Myrtle and Chestnut Avenue. A young female driver made a wide turn onto Myrtle and went onto the curb, striking the intersection control box. She destroyed the box and the intersection went dark. She was not injured. Signal maintenance was notified to respond to the location.
Vandalism
April 26 at 7:50 a.m., officers responded to Madison and Foothill on the report of a possible vehicle burglary. They arrived and located a vehicle with a shattered side window. Police located the registered owner and informed him of the damage. He said he had parked his vehicle the night before and the window was not shattered. Nothing was missing from the vehicle and it did not appear ransacked. The registered owner did not want to file a report for the damage.
Disturbing Subject/Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 12:12 p.m., a staff member from a motel in the 900 block of East Huntington called police to report a disturbing subject at the location who could not pay for a room. When police arrived, they encountered a male subject who was extremely intoxicated and uncooperative. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision with Injury – Suspect Arrested
April 26 at 3:55 p.m., police responded to a hit and run traffic collision with possible injuries in the area of California and Duarte. Assisting officers were given a vehicle description and license plate for a possible suspect. They went to the address for the registered owner in Duarte and located the vehicle and suspect driver. The suspect was positively identified and arrested for felony hit and run. The victim complained of pain and had a laceration on her leg. She was treated on scene by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics.
Municipal Code Violation/Being in a Park After Posted Hours – Suspect Cited
April 27 at 2:26 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 700 block of East Lemon and noticed a subject sleeping in the park after the park was closed. The subject was issued a citation for being in the park after posted hours.

Highlighted Activity for April 20-22, 2015

Injury Traffic Collision
April 20 at 7:15 a.m., a traffic collision involving injuries was reported at Mountain and Royal Oaks. A vehicle traveling southbound failed to stop for a red light. The vehicle struck a westbound vehicle traveling through on green light. There were six passengers between the two vehicles. All of the passengers were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Non-Injury Traffic Collision
April 22 at 7:30 a.m., a non-injury traffic collision was reported in the 200 block of South Ivy in front of a school. A driver stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing a minor dent to the vehicle and a minor scrape to school property.
Battery
April 22 at 4:00 p.m., a battery incident was reported in the 400 block of Genoa. The victim was struck in the face by her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend. The suspect struck the victim and fled the location. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 22 at 8:24 p.m., two officers were driving south on Myrtle when they observed a vehicle making a left turn onto east Central, against traffic. The vehicle hit the southeast curb of the intersection and continued east on Central. After stopping the vehicle, the officers found that the female driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for driving under the influence and taken into custody. The driver was extremely intoxicated. Fearing possible alcohol poisoning, she was cited for DUI and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Highlighted Activity for April 16-19, 2015

Residential Burglary
April 17 at 12:15 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of West Lemon. The victim left his residence, locked and secured, at approximately 8:00 a.m. When he returned at around 12:15 p.m., he noticed the front glass sliding door had been shattered. The house had been ransacked and property was stolen.
Stolen Semi-trailer Recovered
April 17 at 5:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Wildrose regarding a stolen semi-trailer. The trailer was taken sometime on April 11 or 12. When entered into the computer system, a recent inquiry by Arcadia Police Department was found. The trailer had been tagged as abandoned in their city. The registered owner was notified that the trailer was located.
Petty Theft / Delaying a Peace Officer / Warrants – Suspects Arrested
April 17 at 6:00 p.m., police responded to a business in the 700 block of West Huntington regarding a theft of merchandise by a female and a male subject. The female subject was observed concealing store merchandise in her purse. The subjects purchased other merchandise from the store, but did not pay for the merchandise inside the purse.
Officers arrived and detained both subjects outside the location. The female subject was confrontational with officers and would not comply with their commands. Stolen items were located in the female's purse and a stolen box cutter was found in the male subjects back pocket. The female subject also had several warrants for her arrest. She was arrested for petty theft, delaying a peace officer and the warrants. The male subject was arrested for petty theft.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 2:03 a.m., officers saw a vehicle driving erratically in the 400 block of West Huntington and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers determined the driver was intoxicated, and after investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Petty Theft / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 5:14 p.m., police responded to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington regarding a theft. A male subject left the store with stolen jewelry and had entered a car that was now leaving the location. Officers were in the area and observed the vehicle. They conducted a traffic stop and detained the female driver and the male suspect. The female had a suspended license and was cited. There was no evidence that she was involved in the theft. The vehicle was released to a family member. The male suspect admitted to stealing the jewelry. He also had several warrants for his
arrest. He was arrested for petty theft and the warrants.
Robbery
April 18 at 12:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Myrtle and Foothill on the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The two male victims were walking south in the 100 block of North Myrtle. They noticed a white vehicle parked along the west curb with a female Black subject sitting behind the wheel as the passed by it. They suddenly heard foot steps quickly approaching from behind and were confronted by two male Black suspects. One of the suspects pointed a black handgun at the victims and demanded their wallets. Both victims threw their wallets on the ground. The suspects picked up one of the wallets and fled, getting into the white vehicle. The vehicle was
driven away by the female subject. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Myrtle out of sight. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 18 at 12:29 p.m., officers were dispatched on the report of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of West Colorado. They responded and found two subjects sleeping inside the vehicle, one of which was a female juvenile who was in violation of the curfew ordinance. A computer check revealed the juvenile had a no-bail warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for April 13-15, 2015

Injury Traffic Collision
April 14 at 2:50 p.m., a traffic collision with injuries involved was reported at Mayflower and Evergreen. A driver that was heading southbound on Mayflower made a left turn into the path of a driver heading northbound on Mayflower. Both drivers and a passenger were injured. All injured persons were taken to a hospital for treatment. The injuries were not life threatening.
Residential Burglary/Vandalism - Suspect Arrested
On April 15 at 11:31 p.m., an officer responded to 900 block of West Duarte regarding a disturbing subject. The victim said his ex-girlfriend, who does not live at the residence, smashed out an upstairs window and got inside the home. The victim’s daughter was inside a downstairs room when the ex-girlfriend broke into the house. The suspect exited the window and was walking through the backyard when she picked up a brick and threw it through the sliding door window where the daughter was. The suspect fled before officer’s arrived. Several hours later a neighbor of the victim called to report the ex-girlfriend had returned and was breaking into the residence again. All units responded to the residence and located the suspect in the daughter's room. The suspect was arrested for burglary and vandalism.

Highlighted Activity for April 9-12, 2015

Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
April 9 at 7:30 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Shamrock & Walnut when he stopped a motorist for traveling at an unsafe speed. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant issued by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. The officer arrested the suspect for the warrant and upon conducting an inventory search of the vehicle prior to storage, methamphetamine and a glass pipe was found. The additional charges were added.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 9 at 8:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West Foothill regarding a disturbing subject. Upon arrival, the officer determined the subject  was too intoxicated to care for her safety. The subject was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
April 10 at 1:31 p.m., officers were called to an apartment in the 800 block of West Olive on the report of a domestic violence incident which had just occurred between a male and female couple who live together. The male subject had left the location prior to police arrival.
Officers contacted the female subject and saw that she had visible injuries on her arms. The female victim stated that she and her boyfriend were arguing and he began hitting her. She ran into her bedroom, locked the door and attempted to call the police on her cell phone. The suspect gained entry to her room by punching a hole in the door and unlocking it. He grabbed and threw her cell phone, and then began hitting her again. He then left the location and she called police.
Officers called the suspect’s cell phone and convinced him to turn himself in at the Monrovia Police Station for questioning. After investigation of the entire incident, the male suspect was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.
Weapons Offense – Suspect Arrested
April 10 at 6:19 p.m., an officer was talking to a citizen in front of the police station when he saw a male subject with an open beer, walking west toward Myrtle. He detained the subject and during a pat down search, found a large kitchen knife concealed in his waistband. The suspect was determined to be a juvenile and under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and later released to a parent. When the suspect walked out of the police station, he ran from his parent. Officers searched for the juvenile, but he was not located.
Shoplifting Offense – Suspects Arrested
April 10 at 9:24 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 300 block of West Huntington regarding two suspects who had just committed a theft and fled the store. Officers located and detained the two male suspects. The investigation revealed the suspects selected and concealed over-the-counter cold medication and fled without paying for the merchandise. A computer check revealed both suspects also had outstanding warrants for their arrest. They were arrested and taken into custody.
72-Hour Mental Evaluation
April 11 at 12:28 a.m. in the early morning hours, police received a call reporting a suspect that had just committed a theft at a store in the 100 block of West Foothill. An officer responded and determined the suspect was the same juvenile arrested for the weapons offense earlier. After investigation, officers learned that the suspect had battered his sister and made statements that he wanted to stab someone. He was placed on a 72-hour mental evaluation hold. Criminal charges are pending.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 11 at 1:16 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Myrtle and Colorado. A witness saw a vehicle driving recklessly on the 210 Freeway. The suspect vehicle nearly rear ended the reporting parties vehicle and almost collided into the center divider of the freeway. The suspect vehicle exited at Myrtle, followed by the reporting party who contacted the police department. The vehicle was located parked at Myrtle and Colorado with a male subject behind the wheel and the engine running. The subject was determined to be intoxicated and driving under the influence. He was arrested and
held for sobering.
Vehicle Burglary
April 11 at 9:31 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of West Pomona. A work truck was broken into sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing. Commercial Burglary 
April 11 at 9:33 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 1300 block of South Mountain. A small glass window was broken out during the night behind a parked vehicle. Based on the initial inspection, there was no obvious property loss, and it is unknown if the suspect(s) actually entered the building. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication
April 11 at 2:17 p.m., an officer observed a subject walking with an alcoholic beverage. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was extremely intoxicated and was very agitated. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for sobering.
Assault on a Peace Officer Resulting in Injury – Suspect Arrested 
April 11 at 4:19 p.m., a business in the 400 block of West Foothill called police to report a disturbing subject who was throwing items in the store. The subject left the location and was heading west on Foothill. An officer located the subject several blocks away and attempted to detain him. He exited his car and told the subject to stop. The subject did not comply and yelled at the officer. An assisting officer arrived and the subject was detained. The subject said he did not know who he was and he continued to be verbally abusive and spit at the officers. The subject struggled with the officers as they took him into custody. One of the officers was injured during the struggle.
The subject continued to be verbally abusive and struggle while being transported in the patrol car. He slammed his forehead against the plastic divider several times, causing a cut to his forehead. Once at the station, he was examined by Fire Department personnel for his injury. The suspect continued to verbally assault police personnel and spit at them. He made vague, irrational threats about death and injuries to police and their families. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injury and was cleared and released for booking.
Residential Burglary
April 11 at 11:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residential burglary that occurred in the 100 block of East Foothill. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the home through a second story bedroom window, where the screen was cut. The victim left the window open to ventilate the room. Several items were taken and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
April 12 at 12:15 a.m., a citizen called police to report a drunk driver. The caller followed the driver from the 110 Freeway in Pasadena to the 100 block of Stedman. Officers located the vehicle and saw it pull over to the curb on Stedman. They contacted the driver and determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested and held for sobering.

Highlighted Activity for April 6-8, 2015

Commercial Burglary – Suspect Arrested
April 6 at 9:33 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 500 block of West Huntington. An adult male subject entered the business and stole a Nike athletic bag that he had filled with 15 pairs of jeans. The suspect attempted to flee with the bag, but surrendered to loss prevention when he was stopped. The suspect was arrested and charged with commercial burglary.
Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
April 6 at 4:46 p.m., police responded to the report of a female subject sitting in front of a motel with a pistol under her sweater. Officers were deployed, they stopped traffic in the area and the Foothill Air Support helicopter arrived overhead for assistance. The female was then detained. No pistol was found on the subject, but a pipe for smoking methamphetamine was discovered in the female's property. She was arrested and taken into custody.
72-Hour Mental Evaluation
April 6 at 11:38 p.m., a caller reported a female subject with no clothes on, running in the 100 block of West Foothill, attempting to flag people down on the street. Officers responded to the area and located the female. She was taken to a hospital and held for a 72-hour mental evaluation.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
April 7 at 10:45 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 400 block of East Duarte Road regarding a shoplifter. The suspect took two packs of beer from the store and fled the location, hiding around the corner. When he was discovered by officers, he had already consumed one can of beer. He told the officers he was going to steal more beer as soon as he was released from custody. The suspect was arrested and held on the likelihood of reoccurrence, pending his court appearance.
Vehicle Burglary
April 7 at 8:13 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 100 block of West Foothill. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in the parking lot and went to work at one of the businesses. When he returned, he noticed the doors were still locked, but the inside of the vehicle had been ransacked. The suspect took a couple sports hats and a backpack that was inside the vehicle. A male and a female subject were seen near the vehicle at the time of the burglary. The investigation is continuing.
False Bomb Threat
April 8 at 8:55 a.m., a female subject called police and claimed a bomb was being placed in the gym at Monrovia High School in the 800 block of West Colorado. The Police Department response was coordinated with the school staff and the gym was immediately evacuated. The gym was thoroughly searched, but nothing suspicious was located. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
April 8 at 11:49 p.m., a grand theft was reported in the 500 block of Linwood. The victim left her iPad inside her vehicle, which was left unlocked. The investigation is continuing.

Great Neighborhood Watch Meeting

Thanks to all who came last night.  It was a good meeting, always interesting to see what's going on around town and learn about crime trends.  Of course, its always great to spend a little time with each other.

The forecast is rain moving into the area this evening in time for the planned Neighborhood Watch meeting this evening set for 6:30. In the event it's raining Alex and Lisa Reyes at 226 have offered up their carport for our meeting.

Highlighted Activity for April 2-5, 2015

Public Intoxication / Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
April 3 at 3:00 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a hotel in the 900 block of West Huntington Drive on the report of a subject trespassing. This was the fifth encounter involving this same subject causing problems and trespassing at the location. Upon contacting the subject, the officer determined he was, in fact, trespassing and that the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested and held due to the likelihood of reoccurrence, pending his court appearance.
Injury Traffic Collision
April 3 at 8:08 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Duarte Road and Fifth Avenue. The drivers both claimed they had a green light entering the intersection and striking each other. There were no independent witnesses to the collision. At the time of the incident, both drivers stated that they were not injured, but later in the day, one of the drivers returned with her husband and stated she had begun to feel bad after the officer left. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic Collision
April 3 at 9:34 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Huntington and Primrose. The two vehicles collided when the driver on Primrose failed to yield to cross traffic at Huntington. No injuries were reported at the scene. The driver that failed to yield was cited for the collision.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 3 at 8:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Encinitas on the report of a man down. Upon arrival, the officer determined the person was intoxicated to the point of not being able to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 4 at 1:19 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Foothill and Primrose when he observed a subject stumbling. The officer contacted the subject and determined he was extremely intoxicated and was not able to care for his own safety. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and held for sobering.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
April 4 at 1:28 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Foothill and Acacia when he  bserved a subject stumbling. The officer contacted the subject and discovered the  erson was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The officer arrested the suspect for public intoxication and he was held for sobering.
Medical Assist
April 4 at 12:31 p.m., police responded to the report of a female subject passed out on a trail at Canyon Park, approximately a half mile from the waterfall. The officer arrived and found the woman was conscious and breathing. According to family members, she had grown dizzy and fainted after sitting down. She had no visible injuries. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
Driving Under the Influence / Public Intoxication – Suspects Arrested
April 4 at 18:27 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a gas station in the 1500 block of South Myrtle on the report of a male and female arguing inside of a vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located and the occupants were detained. Both subjects were determined to be intoxicated. The male driver was arrested for driving under the influence and the female subject was arrested for public intoxication. The subjects were held for a sobering period.
Incident Report – Vegetation Fire
April 4 at 11:17 p.m., Monrovia officers were handling a disturbance call at a residence in the 1100 block of Starlit Lane, where approximately 200 teenagers were causing a disturbance at the location. During this call, a small vegetation fire began on a property in the 300 block of Elfwood. One of the officers immediately contained the fire by using fire extinguishers until Fire Department personnel arrived and put the fire out completely. There was no structure or property damage reported, and no one was injured as a result of the fire. A blue truck with a camper shell was seen leaving the area
at about the same time the fire was discovered, but the vehicle was not located.
Commercial Burglary
April 5 at 7:13 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 900 block of West Duarte Road. Employees arrived for work and discovered the front window of the business had been smashed. A search of the business revealed the building had been ransacked, but no items were found to be missing. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for March 30 - April 1, 2015

Vandalism
March 30 at 7:21 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of South Canyon regarding a vandalism incident. Unknown suspect(s) spray painted a block wall to a preschool center. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
March 30 at 8:51 a.m., an officer responded to the 500 block of East Colorado on the report of vandalism to a vehicle. The victim parked his van on the street. When he returned to his vehicle, someone had vandalized the sliding door of the truck with a green marker. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
March 30 at 10:51 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 600 block of California. The residents left the location for the weekend. When they returned home, they found the rear sliding door had been smashed out with a large rock. Officers checked the inside of the residence, but did not locate any suspects. The only items taken were two jewelry boxes. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run Traffic Collision
March 31 at 8:58 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a hit and run traffic collision in the 600 block of West Maple. The reporting party witnessed the collision and knew the suspect, who had been recently served with a restraining order by his ex-girlfriend. It appears the suspect tried to enter the ex-girlfriend's driveway and hit the neighbor's vehicle and then fled the scene. The officer located the suspect vehicle at the suspect's residence in the 400 block of South Alta Vista. The suspect was not at the residence.
The vehicle was towed as evidence of a hit and run and a verified complaint was filed against the suspect for violating the restraining order.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
April 1 at 7:05 a.m., staff from a hotel in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue phoned police to report a former guest that had been evicted for nonpayment was in their lobby and would not leave. The manager told the officer that the subject was not welcome on the property. An officer responded, but the subject had left the location. The staff called again at 2:45 p.m. as the subject had returned. Police responded and located the subject passed out in the lobby. The suspect was arrested for trespassing.
Vehicle Burglaries / Felony Vandalism
April 1, at approximately 12:10 p.m., two vehicle burglaries were reported that occurred in a parking structure in the 700 block of South Myrtle Avenue. Both vehicles were locked and had been parked in the secured resident parking area. The responding officer requested to review video surveillance, but the electrical wires had been cut, disabling the surveillance equipment. It was later discovered that wiring from several panels had been cut. The vandalism damage was estimated in excess of $5,000.00.The investigation is continuing.
Felony Driving Under the Influence / Injury Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
April 1 at 1:04 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at Myrtle Avenue and Huntington Drive. A passenger vehicle had rear ended an MTA Bus. During the investigation, the driver of the passenger vehicle was determined to be intoxicated. A passenger from the bus complained of pain and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary
April 1 at 2:44 p.m., employees from a church in the 400 block of East Huntington arrived at the location and discovered several items were missing from the facility. Employees could not confirm if the building was locked the night before. The investigation is continuing.
Trespassing / Drunk in Public – Suspect Arrested
April 2 at 3:20 a.m., employees of a hotel in the 900 block of South Fifth Avenue called and stated there was a male adult subject causing a disturbance in their lobby and he refused to leave. Officers arrived and arrested the male adult for trespassing and being drunk in public. This was the second time the subject was arrested for trespassing at the location within 24 hours. He was held for the likelihood of reoccurrence, pending his court appearance.
