Highlighted Activity for October 27-30, 2016

Commercial Burglary
October 27 at 7:55 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 900 block of W. Foothill on the report of a glass front door that had been shattered. Officers arrived and cleared the location. No suspects were found. It was determined that a small amount of cash was taken from the cash drawer and no other items were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 27 at 1:55 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of W. Hillcrest phoned police to report her home had been burglarized. The homeowner came home and found a drawer to her dresser was open and her wedding ring and some costume jewelry was missing. There was no sign of forced entry. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
October 27 at 10:21 p.m., officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at a business in the 800 block of E. Huntington. Officers arrived and found the doors had been forced open and a safe was located on the landing in the stairwell. The building was searched, but no suspects were located. The owner of the business arrived and assessed the building. It appears nothing else was missing and the safe was recovered. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
October 28 at 10:45 a.m., the victim of a petty theft reported that her wallet was taken out of her purse while she was shopping at a store in the 600 block of W. Huntington. She had walked away from her cart and left her purse in the cart. She did not realize her wallet had been taken until she was checking out. She then received a call from her bank indicating someone had recently tried to use her credit card to purchase merchandise from a target store and did not have the proper identification. The investigation continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 28 at 4:25 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of Norumbega called police to report his residence had been burglarized. Officers arrived and cleared the location, but
no suspects were located. It appears the suspect gained entry through a rear window
that had been left unlocked and took jewelry from the residence. The investigation is
continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
October 28 at 4:33 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 600 block of
Maryanna Lane. The vehicle was inside a closed residential garage. The vehicle was
broken into and miscellaneous items were taken. A bicycle was also taken from inside
the garage. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence
October 28 at 8:19 p.m., police received several calls reporting that a female subject
had been thrown from a moving vehicle and was lying in the street at Pomona and
Raymond. Officers arrived and found the female. She had a head injury and was taken
to a hospital for treatment. She told the officer the suspect was her boyfriend and they
were involved in an argument. The female wanted to get out of vehicle, so she opened
the door while it was moving. The suspect then hit her and pushed her out of the
vehicle. The suspect vehicle left the area and was not located. The investigation is
continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
October 29 at 3:12 a.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 2100 block of S. Peck
Road. The caller stated that a single vehicle had struck several parked cars and the
driver was out of his vehicle. When the officers arrived, they located the driver sitting in
the back of another vehicle. The driver had called his mom and stepsister after the
collision and they had driven to the scene. Officers spoke to the driver and could see he
had bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech. As a result of the collision, he had a
complaint of pain and was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The driver was
determined to be intoxicated and was later arrested.
Petty Theft / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrants – Suspect Arrested
October 29 at 4:35 p.m., a petty theft was reported at a business in the 500 block of W.
Huntington. A male subject entered the store and concealed merchandise on his
person. Loss prevention called police and informed officers that the same subject had
done this repeatedly and he runs when he is confronted. Officers located the subject
outside the store and a short foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was detained and
arrested a short distance away. He was also found to be in possession of a
methamphetamine pipe and had warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and taken into
custody for the charges.
Grand Theft Auto
October 29 at 7 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1000 block of E. Royal
Oaks. The victim parked his vehicle on the street. When he returned to his vehicle a few
hours later, he discovered it was missing. The vehicle is a 1990, blue, Honda Civic. The
investigation is continuing.
Disturbing the Peace
October 29 at 10:57 p.m., a large Halloween party was being held at a location in the
500 block of N. Alta Vista. Police had been to the location one time prior and the
resident was given a loud party notice. The second time back to the location, it was
determined the party needed to end and the party guests were encouraged to leave the
location while officers waited. Due to the large size of the party and the unruly young
adults at the party, assistance was requested from neighboring agencies. The majority
of the party guests left without incident.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
October 30 at 3:30 p.m., an officer responded to the report of a male subject passed out
behind the wheel of his vehicle at the intersection of Myrtle and Duarte. Officers arrived
and located the vehicle and subject. It was quickly determined that the subject had been
drinking and was extremely intoxicated. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Mail Theft – Suspects Arrested
October 30 at 4:52 p.m., officers responded to the report of two male subjects throwing
items into a business trash bin. Officers located the subjects and determined the items
being discarded were large quantities of mail that did not belong to the subjects. A third
subject was located inside the store purchasing merchandise with a stolen credit card.
The subject was also in possession of a US Mail master key. He was arrested and
taken into custody. The other two suspects were arrested for possession of the mail
they had discarded.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 30 at 9:41 p.m., an officer on patrol heard a vehicle alarm sounding at a
business in the 700 block of W. Huntington. He looked and saw a female running away
from the vehicle. She jumped into another vehicle that was leaving the lot. The officer
conducted a traffic stop to investigate the vehicle alarm. The female stated that it was a
rental car and it was acting up. A computer check revealed she had three warrants for
her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody. The vehicle was stored and may
have been rented with fraudulent credit. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 24-26, 2016

Fraud Report
October 24 at 7:41 p.m., a fraud incident was reported by a resident in the 1200 block of S. Alta Vista. The victim stated she was selling a vehicle and the buyer sent a check with an overpayment. The buyer stated to cash the check and mail the balance to an out-of-state third party. The bank then notified the victim that the check was fraudulent and they were now taking the balance out of her account. The victim then called police to report the fraud. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
October 24 at 8:21 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of N. Madison on the report of a traffic collision. The driver collided with two parked vehicles and caused major damage to all three vehicles involved. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI.
Burglary in Progress – Suspects Arrested
October 25 at 9:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Palm on the report of two male suspects seen jumping into a yard and the sound of glass breaking. Officers arrived on scene and saw the suspects fleeing the location. Containment of the area was set up and officers began searching for the suspects. They were found trying to hide in some bushes nearby. The suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Burglary in Progress – Suspects Arrested
October 25 at 10:28 a.m., a burglary in progress was reported in the 800 block of W. Hillcrest. Two male suspects were seen in the backyard of a residence. Officers arrived on scene and saw the two suspects hiding in the backyard. Both suspects fled when they saw the officers. The suspects fled in different directions and containment of the area was set up. The Foothill Air Support Team helicopter located and assisted officers with the apprehension of one suspect, as he was running between houses trying to get away. The second suspect was located shortly after that and detained. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 4:06 p.m., officers responded to the area of Mayflower and Lemon on the
report of a subject who was acting strange and causing a disturbance. The officers
arrived and determined the subject was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested
and taken into custody.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 4:27 p.m., an employee from a business in the 500 block of W.
Huntington called police to report a theft that had just occurred. A male suspect had
removed tags from clothing and fled the store wearing some of the merchandise and
carrying some as well. Officers checked the area and located the suspect attempting to
board a bus and flee the area. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
October 25 at 5:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of E. Huntington
regarding a boyfriend and girlfriend fighting. The male and female were involved in an
argument and the male subject, who had been drinking, pushed the female. He then
punched her and grabbed her phone out of her hand as she tried calling for help. The
male suspect was arrested for domestic violence.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
October 26 at 9:45 a.m., a suspect was reported trespassing at a residence in the 200
block of Stedman. The suspect in this incident was advised by police the day before that
a no trespass order had been signed by the resident and he was not allowed on the
property. He decided to return and was arrested for trespassing.
Vehicle Burglary
October 26 at 2:34 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the
900 block of W. Huntington. The suspect gained entry into a locked vehicle that had
been parked in the parking lot and stole tools that were left inside. The investigation is
continuing.
Grand Theft Bicycle / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Possession of Burglary
Tools / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 26 at 8:39 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from a business in the 400 block
of W. Huntington. An officer located the suspect and stolen bike traveling east on
Genoa and stopped the suspect just west of Magnolia. The suspect admitted to cutting
the bike lock with bolt cutters and stealing the bike. The suspect was arrested for grand
theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and a warrant out
of Santa Clara County.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 26 at 9:29 p.m., an officer was dispatched on the report of a suspicious subject
behind a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington. The officer arrived and found a
male adult asleep inside a vehicle with a syringe in plain view. The officer woke the
suspect and arrested him for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
October 27 at 4:30 a.m., a citizen called police to report a vehicle driving down Pomona
that struck several parked vehicles. Officers arrived and located the damaged vehicles
and the suspect. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving
under the influence.

Celebrate the Arts this weekend in Library Park.


This weekend is it.  The 53rd Annual Celebrate the Arts presented by the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts.  As always its held in Library Park in the heart of Old Town Monrovia.  This year there are 50 fine artists showcasing their art as well as local non-profits sharing what they do in the community.
There will be live and DJ provided entertainment all weekend at Celebrate the Arts.  There will also be Food Trucks.  Saturday will feature Pie and Burger, and My Delight Cupcakery.  Sunday will feature Austyn Premier Hamburgers and Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream.
New this year to add to the fun and excitement is a BEER GARDEN.  All proceeds from the sale of fine craft beer from Pacific Plate Brewery goes to MAFA to help with various community art projects and events during the year.
If you have kids, bring them along as there will be ample for them to do.  One of the sponsors, ChapCare is having a coloring contest.  Another local business is sponsoring the Youth Chalk Art Competition on Saturday.  Please note that this year because of anticipated rain and wet sidewalks Friday and Sunday the competitive Chalk Painting has been cancelled.
Additionally the Friends of the Library will be holding an Art and Collectibles Book Sale on Saturday during the show.

Highlighted Activity for October 20-23, 2016

Grand Theft Auto
October 20 at 10:24 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of W. Duarte. The victim reported the vehicle was taken from her parking lot. The vehicle was a 1997 silver Honda Accord. The vehicle was allegedly locked and there were no signs of forced entry.
Residential Burglary Attempt
October 20 at 12:35 p.m., two suspicious male subjects were reported in the 1200 block of Orange. The caller said he did not recognize the subjects and saw them going onto a neighbor’s property. While officers were in the area a residential alarm was received from that location. Officers responded and located a broken rear window. A containment was set and the home owner was located. After clearing the residence officers reviewed video surveillance that showed a subject matching the subjects’ description ringing the doorbell prior to the window being broken. The investigation is continuing.
Tree Emergency
October 20 at 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a call in the area of Olive and Monterey regarding a tree that fell into the street and struck a vehicle occupied by two people. The people were not injured but the vehicle was damaged and the street was closed for removal of the tree and repair of some overhead wires that were damaged.
Robbery
October 20 at 10:27 p.m., a robbery was reported in the area of Huntington and Myrtle. The victim said he used a website to advertise a necklace he wanted to sell. A buyer responded to the post and they agreed to meet. Once at the location, the buyer looked at the necklace and asked the victim some general questions. While negotiating a price, three friends of the buyer walked up and joined in on the conversation. One of the friends removed what the victim believed was a pellet shotgun from underneath his clothing and pointed it at the victim. The buyer left with the necklace and the three friends followed. They ran south from the location and out of sight. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
October 21 at 6:15 a.m., officers responded to the report of a broken glass entry door at a business in the 200 block of E. Foothill. Officers cleared the business and discovered the cash register had been pried open. Approximately $100 was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Utility Problem
A power outage was reported in the area of Foothill and Fifth. A transformer exploded at Foothill and 2nd causing the intersection lights to go out and the emergency flashing system began. The police department received several calls and complaints. The lights were restored at approximately 4 p.m.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 21 at 8:34 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a
male subject was being detained inside the office for shoplifting. The merchandise was
recovered and the officers arrested the subject.
Missing Located
October 21 at 9:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to a call of a missing person in the 1600 block
of S. Myrtle. The caller reported a critical missing person from a licensed facility. The subject's
cell phone plotted to the listed area and officers responded and located the subject. The subject
was detained and later picked up by an outside agency.
Battery – Suspect Arrested
October 21 at 11:25 p.m., a battery incident was reported in the 700 block of E. Lemon. The
victim reported that he was walking through the park when he was approached by the suspect.
The suspect head-butted the victim on the face which caused the victim to fall. The suspect
then punched the victim on the face. The victim stood up and ran away leaving behind some
personal property. Officers arrived and located the suspect a short distance away with the
victim's property in his possession. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. The victim
was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
Public Intoxication – Suspects Arrested
October 21 at 11:53 p.m., officers responded to the report of a male and female passed out on a
sidewalk in the 100 block of Highland. Officers arrived to the location and determined the
subjects were intoxicated. The subjects were arrested and taken into custody to the Monrovia
Police Department.
Grand Theft Auto
October 22 at 8:25 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen in the 600 block of E. Walnut. The owner
of the vehicle reported his 2016 Honda Accord was stolen from the street near his home. There
was no evidence located at the scene. The vehicle was found at approximately 2:30 p.m. by
San Bernardino Sheriffs in Victorville.
Resisting / Traffic Violation – Suspect Arrested
October 21 at 8:18 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 700 block of E. Huntington Dr. observed a
bicyclist commit a vehicle code violation and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect got
off the bike and fled on foot. The suspect was detained a short distance away and taken into
custody for resisting arrest. The suspect was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 21 at 9:54 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of S. Magnolia called to report a subject
who appeared to be asleep on the sidewalk. Officers arrived, contacted the subject and
determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. The subject was arrested and taken into
custody.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 22 at 12:14 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of California and Shrode when he
noticed a vehicle swerving on the roadway. The officer made a traffic stop and the investigation
revealed the driver was too intoxicated to drive a motor vehicle. The suspect was arrested.
Commercial Burglary
October 22 at 1:39 a.m., an alarm company called to report an activation at a business in the
900 block of W. Duarte Rd. Officers arrived and found a window had been shattered. After
further investigation it was determined two male suspects smashed a window to gain entry and
stole miscellaneous items from the location. The suspects fled prior to the officers’ arrival. The
investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
October 22 at 4:11 a.m., an alarm company called to report an activation at a business in the
800 block of W. Huntington Dr. Officers arrived and found one of the entry/exit doors had been
pried open. It appears the suspect forced entry but met with another set of doors that was
chained shut and did not allow further access into the building. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for October 17-19, 2016


Driving Under the Influence / Possession of Drugs / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Child Endangerment – Suspect Arrested
October 17 at 6:33 a.m., officers responded to the report of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway with the engine running in the 400 block of N. Alta Vista. Officers arrived and found a female driver passed out behind the wheel with her 8-year-old son in the vehicle. She admitted that she had used drugs throughout the night. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. The suspect also had outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody. The Department of Children and Family Services responded to take custody of the child.
Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
October 17 at 10:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of E. Huntington regarding a trespassing suspect who refuses to abide by the no trespassing order prohibiting him from being at the location. He has repeatedly returned to the location, despite numerous arrests, and he continues to cause disturbances at the business. He was arrested and held due to the likelihood of reoccurrence. He will be held until his court date.
Residential Burglary
October 17 at 3:15 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of W. Greystone. One of the residents arrived home and found the home ransacked. The loss is undetermined and the investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Vandalisms
October 18 at 3:40 a.m., a victim of vandalism called police to report that a window on his vehicle had been smashed. The vehicle was parked in the 100 block of W. Lemon Avenue. An officer arrived and located a total of four vehicles with smashed windows. All four victims were contacted and it appears that nothing was taken from the vehicles after the windows were smashed. No suspects were located. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
October 18 at 3:54 a.m., an alarm company called to report an activation at a business
in the 1500 block of S. Myrtle Avenue. Officers arrived and found that an unknown
suspect threw a rock that struck the front window, causing it to break. The investigation
is continuing.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Suspect Arrested
October 18 at 9:15 a.m., officers and the Foothill Air Support Team helicopter
responded to an apartment complex in the 400 block of Genoa regarding an intoxicated
family member chasing other family members with a knife. All of the family members
were outside of the residence when officers arrived and the suspect was still inside.
Officers were able to talk the suspect into coming out of the residence and they
detained him.
Family members reported that the suspect is an alcoholic. The adult son said he was
involved in a verbal argument with his father when his father grabbed a knife and
charged after him. The son held his father against the wall while the other family
members ran outside. As the son was attempting to flee through the front door, he hit
the father with the front door as he opened it, causing injury to the father's head. The
suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and taken to a hospital, where
he was treated and cleared for booking, then taken into custody.
Stolen Vehicle – Suspect Arrested
October 18 at 11:52 a.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Myrtle and
Chestnut with three occupants inside. They followed the vehicle to a parking lot, where
they conducted a high-risk stop. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been
reported stolen by a rental car service in Santa Monica. The vehicle was rented with
fraudulent documents. The driver was the only suspect arrested.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 18 at 7:19 p.m., a theft in progress in the 500 block of Huntington was reported
to police. A male and female were detained in the parking lot. The investigation showed
there was no theft, but the female was found to have a warrant for her arrest and was in
possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 8:31 a.m., a domestic violence incident was reported at a residence in the
300 block of Oakcliff. A male and female subject became involved in an argument over
text messages. The couple are no longer in a dating relationship, but are still living
together. The male subject pushed the female and then began choking her. When she
began calling police, he simulated a gun with his fingers and told her he should kill her.
Officers arrived and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 8:43 a.m., a driver was traveling on Peck and lost control of his vehicle.
The vehicle hit a wall and a fire hydrant, and then flipped. The investigation revealed the
driver was under the influence of drugs. The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
Commercial Burglary
October 19 at 9:41 a.m., an officer responded to a church in the 1300 block of S.
Magnolia Avenue regarding a break-in. The suspect entered by removing slats from a
window and took several blankets. The investigation is continuing.
Felony Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 19 at 7:47 p.m., an officer was hailed down by a subject in a vehicle near
Magnolia and Evergreen. The subject pointed out a vehicle and reported that the driver
of the vehicle was threatening him. The officer saw the vehicle in question. As the driver
attempted to drive away, he committed two vehicle code violations and was stopped by
the officer on Evergreen. When the officer contacted the driver, he noticed the driver
seemed intoxicated. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and arrested the driver for
DUI. A records check of the driver revealed he had three other DUI convictions within
the last ten years, which made this charge a felony.

Highlighted Activity for October 13-16, 2016


Vehicle Burglary
October 13 at 2:25 p.m., a resident in the 300 block of Valle Vista Avenue reported a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and secured his vehicle in the evening on October 8. When he returned to the vehicle the next morning, he noticed his vehicle was unlocked and cash was missing from inside. There was no sign of forced entry and the vehicle appeared to be ransacked. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
October 13 at 3:27 p.m., officers responded to the report of a motorcyclist that had fallen in the 200 block of E. Cypress. They arrived on scene and found a teenage boy on the ground who appeared to have been involved in a solo vehicle traffic collision. He was semi-conscious and witnesses confirmed he had been driving in the street when he lost control and fell to the ground. The juvenile's family was contacted and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 13 at 8:03 p.m., an employee from a business in the 300 block of W. Huntington called police stating a male suspect stole merchandise and left the business without paying. The suspect was last seen heading east on Cherry from Magnolia. Officers located a subject matching the description and he was positively identified as the suspect. The suspect was arrested and released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Domestic Violence / Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
October 14 at 12:38 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Olive Avenue regarding a vandalism incident. A female subject called police to report her boyfriend struck her vehicle with his vehicle and was possibly drunk. The investigation revealed the female had battered the male subject, leaving visible injuries on his neck and she actually struck his vehicle with hers. The female suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
October 14 at 1:16 p.m., a traffic collision was reported in the 500 block of S. Mayflower. A vehicle struck a parked car. Officers arrived and, through investigation, determined the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
October 14 at 8:15 p.m., loss prevention personnel from a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a petty theft that just occurred. A male suspect had taken items without paying for them and was now seated in a gray Honda in the parking lot. The vehicle left the parking lot, but was stopped by police on Alta Vista, south of Huntington. The driver was positively identified by loss prevention and the driver was arrested. The property was recovered. The driver was later released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Grand Theft Auto
October 15 at 8:15 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of E. Evergreen Avenue. The victim reported that his black, Honda Civic was parked out in front of his residence a 6:00 p.m. the night before. When he went out to his vehicle in the morning, he discovered it was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Injured Animal
October 15 at 2:44 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Highland regarding the report of a deer that had an arrow protruding through its neck. Officers located the deer and it appeared that the arrow had not seriously injured the animal. The deer fled the area before aid could be rendered. The Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified and are coordinating with the Monrovia Police Department to provide aid to the deer as soon as they are able to contain the animal.
Suspicious Person / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 16 at 1:48 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of N. Ivy called police to report a male subject knocking on the door, but was not saying anything. Officers responded and located the subject still near the residence. The subject was extremely intoxicated and was determined to be unable to care for himself. He was arrested and held for a sobering period.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 16 at 2:30 a.m., an officer on patrol was in the area of Lime and Ivy when he saw a subject near the intersection. The officer contacted the subject, who showed signs of being intoxicated. The officer determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety. The subject was arrested and held for a sobering period.

Highlighted Activity for October 10-12, 2016


Suspicious Person / Petty Theft
October 10 at 6:17 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of W. Colorado called police to report a theft that just occurred. The victim reported that he saw a female attempting to open the doors of his vehicle, which was parked in front of his house. The female climbed into the bed of his truck, took a vacuum cleaner and left the area. The officer checked the area for the suspect, but she was not located; however, the vacuum cleaner was recovered a few houses away. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
October 10 at 7:32 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Oakcliff regarding a vehicle burglary. Unknown suspects broke into the vehicle, ransacked the glovebox and stole miscellaneous items from the trunk. The investigation is continuing.
Found Child
October 10 at 8:42 a.m., an officer was flagged down in the area of Colorado and Magnolia regarding a 3-year-old child wandering in the area alone. Officers found the child and began walking the area, hoping that someone was looking for the child. They eventually brought the child to the police station and were contacted by the mother. She stated that she left the child at home asleep and went to her neighbor’s house to drop off something. When she returned, the child was gone. The Department of Child and Family Services was notified of the incident.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
October 10 at 8:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of E. Huntington regarding a theft of merchandise. The suspect took merchandise from the business and fled prior to officers arriving. An area check was made and the suspect was found, positively identified and arrested.
Resisting a Peace Officer / Trespassing – Suspect Arrested
October 10 at 8:56 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 700 block of W.
Huntington regarding a suspect who was trespassing at the location. The suspect has
repeatedly loitered at the location while under the influence of drugs and continues to
cause disturbances at the business. A no trespass order is in effect, but the suspect
continues to violate the order. When officers attempted to arrest the subject, he became
extremely combative. The suspect was eventually arrested and taken into custody. One
officer suffered minor injuries during the struggle.
Commercial Burglary
October 10 at 10:04 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 500
block of S. Shamrock. The suspects pried open a rear security gate and gained access.
They took power tools, scales and alcohol before fleeing the location. The investigation
is continuing.
Injury Hit & Run Traffic Collision
October 10 at 9:38 p.m., a local hospital called to advise they had a 15-year-old male
victim of a hit and run collision brought to the hospital for treatment of injures. The
subject reported that the collision occurred in Monrovia. The subject reported that he
was skateboarding near the corner of Court and Mayflower when he was struck by a
white vehicle that did not stop after the accident. The parents of the victim drove him to
the hospital, as he was complaining of pain to his elbow, his side, and had abrasions
about his body. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
October 11 at 7:33 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported at a location in the 200
block of E. Duarte. An unknown suspect threw rocks and broke glass on the building.

Vehicle & Residential Burglary
October 11 at 7:38 a.m., a burglary was reported in the 1600 block of S. Mayflower. The
victim’s vehicle was broken into and the suspect stole tools and a garage remote. The
suspect then used the remote to enter the garage and stole a bicycle. The investigation
is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
October 11 at 7:41 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Los
Robles. The vehicle is a black, 2013, Ford Taurus. The vehicle was parked on the
street. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
October 11 at 2:41 p.m., loss prevention personnel at a business in the 1600 block of S.
Mountain called police to report a shoplifter in custody. The suspect entered the
business and used a knife to cut open a package containing a flashlight. He put the
flashlight in his pocket and walked out of the store without paying. He was detained by
security and placed under private person’s arrest. An officer arrived, arrested the
suspect and took him into custody. A computer check revealed the suspect had three
outstanding warrants and he was held pending his court hearing.
Grand Theft Auto
October 11 at 2:45 p.m., a rental car business in the 1100 block of E. Huntington called
police to report a stolen vehicle. The suspect rented a car from the company and has
not returned it. The vehicle is a 2016, Nissan Altima. The vehicle was entered into the
law enforcement stolen vehicle system. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft / False Identification to a Police Officer – Suspect Arrested
October 11 at 6:13 p.m., officers responded to a theft in progress in the 400 block of
Heliotrope. A suspect was stopped by officers. The suspect pulled out a replica gun in
front of officers as he stated that it was only an Airsoft gun. The suspect was detained
while the officers investigated the theft. The victim did not desire prosecution for the
theft. The suspect was arrested for giving false information to a police officer. He also
possessed three identifications that did not belong to him. The investigation is
continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 12 at 2:56 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 400 block of Heliotrope and
observed a subject loitering in the area of closed businesses. The officer stopped to talk
to the subject. A consent search of the subject revealed he had a small container which
contained methamphetamine. A computer check revealed he also had a warrant for his
arrest. The subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and the warrant.
Commercial Burglary
October 12 at 12:26 p.m., a burglary was reported at a business in the 300 block of S.
Myrtle. Sometime during the week, someone entered one of the cabinets and took
merchandise that belonged to a vendor. The key to the cabinet was inside the business
at the time of the theft. The business has numerous vendors that rent spaces to sell
items. The investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
October 12 at 4:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 2100 block of S.
Myrtle regarding a break-in to a storage unit. The suspect forced open the lock clasp on
the storage shed and removed approximately 10 boxes of items. An electric guitar and
electric scooter were stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
October 12 at 5:27 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of N.
Shamrock regarding a violation of a court order. The suspect continues to return to his
girlfriend's residence against court order. The suspect was asleep in the room when the
victim called to report he was there. The suspect was arrested for violating the court
order and outstanding warrants.
Trespassing / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
October 13 at 3:51 a.m., an officer contacted a known subject at a business in the 700
block of E. Huntington. The subject had been advised by officers several times not to
trespass at the business. The subject was also found to be too intoxicated to care for
his own safety. The subject was arrested for trespassing and public intoxication.

Theft From a Vehicle
October 6 at 9:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Alamitas Avenue regarding a theft from a vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked and a skateboard was taken from inside. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft Auto
October 6 at 1:00 p.m., two motorcycles were reported stolen from the 200 block of E. Hillcrest Avenue. The motorcycles were stolen from the side of victim’s home sometime during the week prior. The investigation is continuing.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspects Arrested
October 7 at 2:27 a.m., an officer on patrol observed two subjects in the area of Magnolia and Huntington. One of the subjects was twitching uncontrollably and acting erratic. The officer stopped to check if the subjects were okay. One of the subjects was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and the other was found to have a warrant. Both subjects were arrested and taken into custody.

October 7 at 4:31 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 200 block of W. Lemon. The vehicle is a 1991, brown Honda Civic. The vehicle was entered into the law enforcement stolen vehicle database and the investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
October 7 at 7:18 a.m., officers responded to the report of a vehicle burglary in the 700 block of S. Primrose. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in front of her residence in the evening. When she returned the next morning, she found her purse and a pair of sunglasses had been taken from her vehicle. It is unknown how the suspect gained entry. The investigation is continuing.

October 7 at 8:39 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business parking lot in the 3300 block of Peck Road. The victim parked his 1994, black/gray, Honda Civic in the parking lot at 7:00 a.m. and went into the business. When he returned at 8:30 a.m., he
discovered his vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was locked. The investigation is continuing.

October 7 at 10:08 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business parking lot in the 200 block of Kruse Avenue. The victim parked his white, 1994 Honda Accord in an employee parking lot at 7:00 a.m. and went into the business. When he returned at 10:00 a.m., he discovered his vehicle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
October 7 at 10:11 a.m., an officer responded to a business parking lot in the 200 block of Kruse Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim parked and locked their vehicle at 5:45 a.m. The windows were rolled down a couple of inches due to the hot weather. When the victim returned to the vehicle at 8:00 a.m., the driver-side door was unlocked and ajar. A cell phone and stereo were taken from the vehicle. It appears the suspect gained entry through the partially rolled down windows. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
October 7 at 10:33 a.m., an officer was dispatched regarding a petty theft that just occurred at a business in the 800 block of W. Foothill. Employees reported this was the third theft of their tip jar by the same suspect. Officers checked the area, but the suspect was not located. The investigation is continuing. The suspect is described as a male white, 25-30 years old, wearing a black hat, black shirt and blue jeans. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
October 7 at 3:45 p.m., an officer located a parked vehicle in the 200 block of N. Primrose. A check of the license plate revealed it had been stolen the night before. No suspects were located.

October 8 at 1:36 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business parking lot in the 200 block of railroad. The vehicle is a 1990, 4-door, brown Honda Accord. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Trailer
October 8 at 6:11 p.m., a car trailer was reported stolen from the 500 block of E. Lemon. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
October 8 at 6:58 p.m., a resident in the 500 block of E. Olive called police to report his truck had been vandalized. The truck was parked on the street and two windows were smashed with a hard object. No suspects were located. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft
October 8 at 7:36 p.m., the manager of a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington called police to report a petty theft that just occurred. The suspect entered the location, selected a video game station and asked the cashier for an additional controller for the  game. When the cashier was distracted, the suspect fled the location. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
October 9 at 2:33 a.m., a female subject called police to report her husband had battered her. When officers arrived, the husband was detained. The investigation revealed the husband threw a book at the victim and hit her in the face with his hand. The husband was arrested and taken into custody for domestic violence. He was held pending his court appearance.
Grand Theft From a Vehicle
October 9 at 6:18 a.m., a grand theft from a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of Grand Avenue. The victim left his vehicle unlocked in the driveway of his home. The suspect entered the vehicle and took tools, miscellaneous items, and a briefcase containing a computer circuit board. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 9 at 10:22 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Leafwood on the report of a residential burglary. Neighbors found the front door to the residence open and called police. The resident was not home. The front door was forced open and it is unknown if anything was taken. The investigation is continuing.
Felony Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
October 9 at 9:52 p.m., a male subject called police to report an unknown female had thrown large rocks at his vehicle, causing approximately $1,000 in damage. Officers responded and located the female subject inside another vehicle. She was contacted by the officer and the investigation revealed the vehicle she was in did not belong to her. Additional victims of vandalism were located in the area. The female suspect was positively identified by the victim and a witness. The suspect was arrested for felony vandalism and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for October 3-5, 2016


Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 12:42 p.m., officers responded to the report of a vandalism incident in progress. The reporting party followed the suspect and was able to direct officers to his location. The suspect was arrested.
Theft From a Vehicle – Suspect Arrested
October 3 at 4:04 p.m., the victim of a theft from a vehicle that occurred a few days prior in the 600 block of W. Foothill called police for additional assistance. The victim’s cell phone was stolen during the theft and the victim saw a male subject in the area at the time of the theft. The victim was now reporting that she saw the same male subject walk into his apartment with her pink cell phone in his hand.
Officers arrived at the location and contacted the suspect, who admitted to taking the cell phone out of the unlocked vehicle. He gave the phone to the officers and they returned it to the victim. A verified complaint charging the suspect with theft was forwarded to the District Attorney for filing.
Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspects Arrested
October 4 at 1:37 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 500 block of W. Palm and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects. During his contact with the occupants, the officer discovered one of the passengers had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The passenger was arrested and the driver consented to a search of her vehicle. The search revealed a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine and several syringes. The driver was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Burglary – Suspect Arrested
October 4 at 7:26 a.m., a worker at a business in the 2100 block of S. Myrtle called to report two suspects breaking into a storage unit with a crowbar. As the suspects were leaving in their vehicle, they were having problems getting the vehicle gate to open. The passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot. When officers arrived, they detained the driver at the gate. Officers confirmed the suspects forced open and burglarized a storage unit. The driver was arrested for burglary and a wanted person’s warrant was issued for the second suspect.
Warrant / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 4 at 1:00 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 400 block of W. Maple contacted a subject regarding a trespassing issue. A computer check of the subject revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested and taken into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed a baggie of methamphetamine and a glass pipe for smoking controlled substances.
Battery – Suspect Arrested
October 4 at 7:21 p.m., a battery incident was reported in the 800 block of W. Colorado. The victim reported that he was assaulted by the current boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend. The victim had been driving by his ex-girlfriend's residence and had a prior verbal confrontation with her boyfriend/suspect. The victim returned to the location and was assaulted by the suspect. The victim placed the suspect under private person's arrest. The officer arrested the suspect and took him into custody. He was later released with a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Commercial Burglary
October 5 at 2:25 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of W. Huntington Drive on the activation of a burglary alarm. When they arrived, they discovered a glass door had been shattered. Further investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the location through the shattered door and ransacked the drawers and cabinets. It appears that nothing was taken from the location, but the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence / Warrant -
October 6 at 2:25 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a driver in the 400 block of W. Chestnut for driving without headlights during hours of darkness. The driver displayed symptoms of being intoxicated. The officer conducted a DUI investigation and determined the driver was too intoxicated to operate his vehicle safely. A computer check of the driver revealed there were two outstanding warrants for his arrest, as well. The driver was arrested and held for a detoxification period.

Highlighted Activity for September 29 – October 2, 2016


Warrant – Suspect Arrested
September 30 at 12:46 a.m., an officer observed a subject in the 300 block of S. Myrtle that he knew had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested, booked and later released with a citation to appear in court on the warrant.
Petty Theft
September 30 at 4:43 p.m., a petty theft was reported in the 600 block of W. Huntington Drive. The victim called to report someone had stolen hand tools from the bed of his truck. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
October 1 at 8:41 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 300 block of E. Lime. The home was involved in a fire earlier in the week and had been declared uninhabitable. The front door had been boarded up and someone removed one of the boards. The owner of the property was notified and responded to the location. Officers searched the home, but did not locate anyone inside. The owner did not find anything missing. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of Methamphetamine / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 1 at 11:19 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 1600 block of S. Myrtle when he observed a suspicious male adult subject. The subject tossed something on the ground when he saw the officer. The officer detained the subject and requested assisting officers. When assistance arrived, the officer retrieved the items which had been tossed. He discovered the items were a baggie of methamphetamine and two used pipes for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Public Intoxication / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
October 2 at 12:15 p.m., an officer was flagged down regarding a man down, possibly intoxicated. The subject was located and determined to be too intoxicated to care for his own safety. He was arrested for being drunk in public. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
October 2 at 5:20 p.m., an officer saw a bicyclist commit a vehicle code violation and stopped the subject. During the contact with the officer, the subject admitted to having drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was arrested and taken into custody.
