Highlighted Activity for January 23-25, 2017


Vehicle Burglary
January 23 at 10:20 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business in the 1800 block of S. Myrtle Avenue. The wheels, tires and the back windows were stolen from a customer’s car that was left parked in the business parking lot over the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting
January 23 at 12:40 p.m., a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. The suspect entered the business and completed a return of merchandise. The suspect continued shopping, selected a door lock set, and then approached the return counter again and attempted to return the lock for cash, but the transaction was denied. The suspect picked up the lock and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The investigation is continuing.
Non- Injury Hit & Run Traffic Collision
January 23 at 7:08 p.m., a vehicle traveling on Royal Oaks collided with a parked vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision. The investigation is continuing.
Vehicle Burglary
January 23 at 8:04 p.m., the victim of a vehicle burglary came to the police station to report his vehicle had been broken into sometime between the evening of January 22 and the evening of January 23. The vehicle was parked in a parking structure in the 100 block of W. Colorado and was secured. Miscellaneous items were taken from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
January 23 at 8:55 p.m., a female subject came to the police station lobby to report she had been in a physical fight with her husband. The victim stated her husband choked her and threw her to the ground. She complained of pain and had visible redness around her throat. Paramedics responded and took her to a hospital for evaluation. The husband was contacted and came to the station to provide a statement. He was then arrested for domestic violence.
Residential Burglary
January 24 at 1:00 p.m., a resident in the 600 block of Norumbega Drive called police to
report his home had been burglarized. He had been away from his home and when he
returned, he found that someone had forced entry into a side door and ransacked the
second story. The loss is undetermined and the investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
January 24 at 10:51 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business at Myrtle and Lime
regarding a subject causing a disturbance. The caller said the female subject appeared
intoxicated. Officers arrived as the female subject was driving away from the store. A
traffic stop was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence of
alcohol. She was arrested and taken into custody.
Grand Theft Auto
January 25 at 7:21 a.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Pilgrim
way. The victim parked and locked his car in front of his home on January 24 at 5:30
p.m. When he returned to the vehicle in the morning, he found it was missing. The
investigation is continuing.
Commercial Burglary
January 25 at 11:04 a.m., officers responded to a commercial burglary reported in the
500 block of W. Duarte Road. The suspects forced entry into the business and stole a
bicycle and cash. The investigation is continuing.
Injury Traffic Collision
January 25 at 11:38 a.m., a driver was traveling north on Canyon, approaching Lime,
when a driver traveling east on Lime pulled out in front of the northbound vehicle and
they collided in the intersection. One of the drivers involved sustained minor injuries and
was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Grand Theft Auto Recovered – Suspects Arrested
January 25 at 12:07 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle heading south on Myrtle and
conducted a traffic stop at Chestnut. Three occupants were arrested and taken into
custody. The vehicle belonged to a rental company in Las Vegas and was reported
stolen after the renter failed to return the vehicle on the agreed date. The investigation
is being turned over to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
Residential Burglary
January 25 at 8:48 p.m., officers responded to a residential burglary in the 800 block of
S. Canyon. The victim left his residence in the morning. When he arrived home at 8:30
p.m., he found his front door wide open and the house ransacked. The suspects
shattered the rear sliding door window to gain entry. They burglarized the house and left
through the front door. The victim is compiling a list of stolen items. The investigation is
continuing.
Residential Burglary
January 25 at 10:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of
S. Magnolia regarding a residential burglary. The victim left the residence at 10:30 a.m.
and arrived home at 10:50 p.m. The front door of the residence was wide open and
there was a single light on inside the residence. Further investigation revealed the
suspect had pried open a living room window to gain entry. Once inside, the alarm
activated and the suspects fled out the front door. It appears that nothing was taken
from the residence. The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for January 19-22, 2017

Battery
January 19 at 9:16 a.m., a battery incident was reported at Maple and Mayflower. A male and female subject were involved in an argument, and the male subject punched the female in the face and walked away. The female was treated by Monrovia Fire Department paramedics. She did not know the male subject's full name. The investigation is continuing to identify the suspect.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 19 at 10:38 p.m., police responded to the report of a vehicle that had just crashed through the gate of the cemetery in the 200 block of E. Duarte Road. The reporting party gave a description of the vehicle and driver. An officer responding to the incident saw a vehicle matching the description heading north on Ivy. The vehicle had collision damage to the front and two flat tires. The officer stopped the vehicle and after investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. The driver was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Robbery – Suspect Arrested
January 20 at 8:24 a.m., a robbery was reported at a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain. A male subject shoplifted items by placing them in his waistband and walking out of the store. Store loss prevention officers attempted to detain the suspect outside of the store, but he resisted and a struggle ensued. The suspect was ultimately detained by loss prevention and no one was injured. The suspect was arrested.
Robbery
January 20 at 10:06 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a robbery. The suspect entered the business, selected four purses from a display rack and walked toward the exit doors. A loss prevention agent stepped in front of the suspect to block his path to the door. The suspect grabbed the loss prevention agent in a choke hold, pushed her out of his way and fled the business with the merchandise. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
January 21 at 12:37 p.m., a grand theft incident was reported at a business parking lot
in the 400 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked his Toyota Sequoia in the lot and
went into the business. He returned to his vehicle approximately an hour later and
discovered the catalytic convertor was taken off his vehicle. The investigation is
continuing.
Theft From a Vehicle
January 21 at 2:37 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the area of Lemon and
Heliotrope. The victim parked his vehicle on January 20 at 6:15 p.m. He returned to his
vehicle the next day and found it had been broken into and ransacked. A handbag
containing a computer and a bag of tools were taken. The investigation is continuing.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
January 21 at 2:40 p.m., a caller reported that a white Toyota Corolla had been parked
in the 1100 block of Carmelita Circle for several days and wanted it marked for 72 hour
parking. A computer check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of
Whittier. The vehicle was recovered.
Theft From a Vehicle
January 21 at 2:44 p.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of N. May.
The victim parked her vehicle on the street the day before. She returned to the vehicle
the next day and found the interior had been ransacked. A pair of headphones and two
bags of new women's clothing that were left in the vehicle were taken. The investigation
is continuing.
Assault With a Deadly Weapon – Two Suspects Arrested
January 21 at 9:41 p.m., a male subject was talking on his phone in the 300 block of S.
Primrose. Three suspects walked by and began laughing at him. The victim walked
away and the suspects followed him. When he got to the corner of Lime and Primrose,
the suspects surrounded him. One of the suspects hit the victim several times in the
face. Another suspect pushed him in the back. The victim was pushed and hit by the
suspects. During the assault, one of the suspects took his belt off and struck the victim
twice with it, causing a laceration to his head. The suspects then fled, running west on
lemon and south on Magnolia. The victim notified police.
Officers arrived and checked the area. They located two of the suspects at a residence
in the 200 block of W. Colorado. The suspects were identified by the victim and
arrested. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia – Suspect Arrested
January 21 at 11:22 p.m., a subject was reported dumping trash behind a business in
the 400 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and detained the subject. A computer
check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a pat-down search,
the subject was found to have a glass pipe and a small baggie of methamphetamine on
his person. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Traffic Collision / Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
January 22 at 12:32 a.m., a traffic collision was reported at Magnolia and Huntington.
One driver rear ended the other. Officers arrived and determined there were no injuries.
One of the drivers admitted to taking prescription drugs and after investigation, was
determined to be under the influence. She was arrested for driving under the influence.
Commercial Burglary
January 22 at 4:36 a.m., an alarm company called to report an alarm activation at a
business in the 900 block of W. Duarte Road. Officers arrived and saw the glass to the
front doors had been smashed. Officers cleared the location, but no suspects were
located. It was determined that the suspects took the till from the cash register, but
there was no money inside the till at the time. The investigation is continuing.
Vandalism
January 22 at 10:03 a.m., a vandalism incident was reported at a hotel in the 900 block
of W. Huntington. The victim reported that her vehicle had been vandalized while it was
parked overnight in the hotel parking lot. The rear driver's side window was shattered.
The investigation is continuing.

Highlighted Activity for January 16-18, 2017


Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
January 16 at 6:37 p.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they contacted a male adult in front of the house, who was too intoxicated to care for himself. The subject was arrested for being drunk in public and was held for a sobering period.
Petty Theft – Suspect Arrested
January 16 at 7:10 p.m., a petty theft incident was reported at a business in the 400 block of W. Duarte. A witness reported that the suspect fled across Duarte Road. The Foothill Air Support helicopter was in the area overhead and saw the suspect walking north in the wash. Officers detained the suspect near Genoa and the wash. He was arrested for petty theft and received a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Vandalism
January 16 at 7:23 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 600 block of S. Primrose. The victim reported gang graffiti that had been spray painted all over his garage. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 16 at 11:21 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the 300 block of W. Huntington and observed two subjects loitering in the parking lot near a closed business. He contacted the subjects and a computer check revealed one of the subjects had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested for the warrant.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 1 at 11:54 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle at Fifth and Huntington for vehicle code violations. A computer check of the driver revealed he had several warrants for his arrest. During a search of his vehicle, officers recovered a bindle of cocaine near the driver's seat. The driver was arrested for the warrants and possession of cocaine. The vehicle was stored.
Residential Burglary – One Suspect Arrested
January 17 at 10:25 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of W. Colorado regarding a residential burglary. A witness reported that two suspects entered the victim's garage and took a bicycle. The officers located and arrested one of the suspects. The Foothill Air Support helicopter and additional units searched for the second suspect, who rode off with the bicycle, but officers did not locate him. Through investigation, officers learned the identity of the second suspect and he was positively identified in a photo line-up by the witness. The suspect was entered into the law enforcement computer system as a wanted person for the residential burglary. The investigation is continuing.
Weapon Offense – Suspect Arrested
January 17 at 8:46 p.m., an adult female called police and reported that her ex-boyfriend pointed a handgun at her and threatened her. Officers arrived and detained the suspect. During the investigation, a loaded pistol was recovered from the suspect's house and he was arrested. An Emergency Protective Order against the suspect was issued by the court.
Residential Burglary / Resisting and Delaying a Peace Officer – Suspect Arrested
January 17 at 11:10 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a subject riding a bicycle in the 400 block of W. Huntington that he knew was wanted for a residential burglary. The subject fled when he saw the officer, but was eventually detained on Cypress. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Tampering – Suspect Arrested
January 18 at 10:23 p.m., a male adult subject was seen walking along Hillcrest at Alta Vista, attempting to get into locked vehicles. Officers responded and detained the suspect a few blocks away and he was positively identified by the witness as the suspect. He was arrested and taken into custody. The suspect was later released on a citation to appear in court.

Highlighted Activity for January 12-15, 2017


Commercial Burglaries
January 13 at 3:21 a.m., an alarm activation was reported at business in the 600 block of W. Huntington Drive. Officers arrived and found the front doors had been pried open. Video surveillance of the business revealed the suspects were two male Blacks, one was dressed in all red and was wearing a mask and black gloves. The second suspect was wearing dark clothing with a dark mask and white gloves. The loss was undetermined. The suspects forced entry with a yellow crowbar.
A second burglary alarm activation was reported a few minutes later at 3:28 a.m. in the 900 block of E. Huntington. Officers arrived and found the front doors to this business had also been pried open. Video surveillance revealed the same two suspects committed both burglaries. The loss appeared to be narcotics from the pharmacy at the second location. A green SUV type vehicle was seen leaving the area. The investigations are continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
January 13 at 8:45 a.m., a female adult phoned from a residence in the 200 block of Terrace View to report she had been beaten up by her boyfriend. Officers responded to the residence and spoke to both parties. The victim reported that her boyfriend strangled and struck her, and she had visible injuries. The male suspect admitted to the allegations and he was arrested. He later bonded out of custody. The victim was notified and provided an Emergency Protective Order.
Injury Traffic Collision
January 13 at 7:56 p.m., a traffic collision was reported at Myrtle and Huntington. A vehicle made a turning movement to maneuver around a bus and lost control. The vehicle jumped the center median and struck a tree. The tree then fell over and struck a passing vehicle. The only injury was to a passenger in the primary vehicle.
Drug Offense – Suspect Arrested
January 14 at 9:10 p.m., a caller reported a possible drunk driver in the 1300 block of S. Fifth Avenue. An officer arrived and located a vehicle that matched the description of
the possible drunk driver. The officer made a traffic stop and the investigation revealed
the driver was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and
taken into custody.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 15 at 1:11 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 400 block of S. Myrtle Avenue
and recognized a suspect who had an outstanding arrest warrant. They contacted the
suspect, confirmed the warrant and took him into custody. The suspect is being held
pending his court appearance.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 15 at 1:23 a.m., officers were on patrol in the 100 block of E. Lemon Avenue
and recognized another subject who they knew had an outstanding arrest warrant. They
contacted the suspect, confirmed the warrant and took him into custody. The suspect is
being held pending a court appearance.

Highlighted Activity for January 9-11, 2017


Fight in Progress
January 9 at 1:43 p.m., officers responded to a possible fight in progress at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Duarte. The fight involved two male roommates, one of the roommates jumped out the rear apartment window when officers arrived and fled, but officers located him on Duarte Road. Paramedics were called for injuries the subject sustained from the fight with the roommate. Both subjects were uncooperative with the officers, but one agreed to leave the location.
Grand Theft Auto / Violation of Restraining Order / Possession of Access Card – Suspects Arrested
January 9 at 9:59 p.m., an officer ran a computer check on a vehicle and discovered it was a stolen vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle until assisting units could arrive and then a high-risk stop of the vehicle was conducted at Second and California in Arcadia. Two subjects were detained. Computer checks of both subjects revealed they had a domestic violence restraining order in place. The female subject was the protected party and the male was the restrained subject. Both subjects were arrested for the restraining order violation and the female driver was charged with grand theft auto and possession of someone else’s credit card.
Driving Under the Influence / Traffic Collision – Suspect Arrested
January 9 at 5:17 a.m., officers responded to a traffic collision where a vehicle collided at the dead end of Peck, just south of the train station. The driver was not injured and was determined to be driving under the influence. The driver was arrested.
Vehicle Burglary
January 10 at 7:16 a.m., a vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of Monroe Place. The victim parked his vehicle on the street around 3:00 a.m. When he returned to his vehicle later in the morning, he found the interior had been ransacked. A laptop computer and cell phone were taken from the trunk. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting – Suspect Arrested
January 11 at 12:02 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain regarding a subject detained by store loss prevention for shoplifting. The subject concealed merchandise in a tool bag and left the location without paying for the items. The subject was arrested and released on a citation to appear in court on the charges.
Bicycle Theft
January 11 at 1:00 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from the 300 block of W. Central. The victim reported that the bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage. The investigation is continuing.
Bicycle Theft
January 11 at 2:50 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from the 600 block of W. Palm. The victim locked his bicycle to a palm tree in his front yard. When he returned, he found his bicycle was gone and the lock was on the grass. The investigation is continuing.
Trespass / Found Property
January 11 at 8:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to a possible trespassing incident at the old Monrovia Train Station. It appears someone pried off a board and possibly made entry into the dwelling. Personal property was located and taken for safe keeping. The investigation is continuing.

Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
December 22 at 1:22 p.m., officers responded to the report of a possible drunk driver in the 100 block of El Nido. The caller reported the vehicle also had collision damage. The caller saw the vehicle run a red light and then stop several blocks away near a commercial area. Officers arrived and located the vehicle and driver, who was determined to be intoxicated. An extensive search was done involving several agencies to determine what the driver had struck with the vehicle. He was arrested for driving under the influence.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 22 at 6:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Royal Oaks regarding a request to keep the peace. During the contact, a subject inside the residence was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested and held pending his court appearance.
Domestic Violence
December 22 at 11:03 p.m., a female resident in the 300 block of W. lemon called police to report she had been battered by her husband. Officers arrived and determined that the husband and wife were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The husband pushed the wife into a window, causing minor injuries. The suspect fled prior to police arriving at the location. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
December 23 at 12:18 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a parked vehicle with the engine running and the driver asleep behind the wheel in the 100 block of Cypress. The investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspect Arrested
December 23 at 2:41 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a vehicle code violation at Myrtle and the 210 Freeway. The driver was stopped and the investigation revealed he was too impaired to drive a motor vehicle. He was arrested and held for a sobering period. He was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Residential Burglary
December 23 at 4:17 p.m., a burglary was reported at a residence in the 500 block of N. Alta Vista. The front door of the home was kicked in and the residence was ransacked. A wallet was taken. The wallet was located during a search of the area. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
December 24 at 11:45 a.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 500 block of N. Alta Vista. Officers arrived and discovered the front door had been kicked in and the house appeared to have been ransacked. The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
December 24 at 11:48 p.m., police dispatch received a call regarding a subject who was causing a disturbance at an apartment complex in the 700 block of W. Foothill. Officers arrived and located the subject in the parking lot of the complex. The subject was extremely intoxicated and could not care for himself or the safety of others. He was arrested for being drunk in public and held for a sobering period.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
December 25 at 12:47 a.m., a caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked at Stedman and Oaks. Officers arrived and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Long Beach. The vehicle was recovered.
Disturbance / Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
December 26 at 10:23 p.m., officers responded to the report of a fight in progress in the 500 block of W. Duarte. When they arrived, they detained two subjects who were intoxicated and had started a fight with some other tenants. One of the disturbing subjects was taken to the hospital for treatment and the other was arrested for being drunk in public.
Commercial Burglary
December 27 at 3:44 a.m., officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at a business in the 900 block of E. Huntington. The alarm company reported that there were suspects inside the store, but they had already exited the front doors. Officers arrived and searched the area, but the suspects were not located. The two suspects forced entry through the front door, went inside and collected large quantities of narcotics from the pharmacy area, and then fled the store. The investigation is ongoing.
Vandalism
December 27 at 1:36 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the 400 block of Monrovista. The victim reported that someone possibly shot his upstairs window with a BB gun sometime during the night. The window appeared to have been shot with a BB gun from the area of Duarte Road. The investigation is continuing.
Possession of a Controlled Substance / Suspended License / False Evidence of Registration – Suspect Arrested
December 27 at 8:10 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for having expired registration, but the vehicle showed valid registration tags. The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license. A search of the vehicle revealed the driver possessed a large quantity of prescription medication in an unmarked pill bottle. The driver was arrested for prescription pills without a prescription, driving on a suspended license and possessing false tabs on his license plate. The vehicle was stored.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
December 28 at 1:17 a.m., several callers reported shots heard in the 1300 block of S. Alta Vista. Officers responded and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his leg. Witnesses reported a light colored vehicle drove by the location, possibly a Toyota Camry, with three subjects inside. A subject in the vehicle shot 4 to 5 times, hitting the victim. The vehicle continued south on Alta Vista and west on Central. Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects, but they were not located. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The investigation is continuing.
Petty Theft From a Vehicle
December 28 at 2:17 a.m., a petty theft from a vehicle was reported in the 800 block of W. Walnut. The victim was entering his vehicle when he noticed two male subjects in the backseat area of his vehicle. When the two subjects saw the victim, they fled. A glove and the vehicle registration was missing. The investigation is continuing.
Theft of Gardening Equipment
December 28 at 2:27 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of N. Canyon regarding the report of a theft. The victim locked up his lawn mower in the back of his truck and went into a backyard for approximately thirty minutes. While in the back yard, a suspect cut the lock and stole the lawn mower. The investigation is continuing.
Theft of Mail
December 28 at 3:29 p.m., a theft of mail was reported at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Royal Oaks. Management for the complex reported that two male suspects stole the rental payment drop box at the rental office. The residents use the drop box to deposit their rent checks when the office is closed. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Violence – Suspect Arrested
December 28 at 9:21 p.m., officers responded to the report of two male subjects arguing and possibly fighting inside an apartment in the 100 block of W. Colorado. Upon arrival, officers heard a physical altercation inside the apartment. They entered the front door and found the two male subjects fighting on the ground, one of the subjects was holding the other one down on the floor. The subjects are married and one of them had minor injuries from the altercation. The primary aggressor was arrested for domestic violence and taken into custody.

Highlighted Activity for January 5-8, 2017


Vehicle Tampering / Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Suspect Arrested
January 5 at 7:12 a.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious male adult pulling on the handles to several parked vehicles in the 100 block of W. Lemon. Officers arrived and located a male subject matching the suspect description. They contacted the subject and noticed he displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A witness identified him as the suspect tampering with vehicles. The suspect was not able to convey a reason why he would be looking into vehicles. He was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and vehicle tampering.
Attempt Burglary
January 5 at 2:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of S. Primrose on the report of an attempt burglary. Officers found that a window pane to the front door of the residence had been shattered, but the door was secure because of a key deadbolt. Officers cleared the residence and the homeowner found that nothing had been disturbed. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
January 5 at 4:30 p.m., a grand theft was reported at a business in the 1300 block of S. Myrtle. The investigation revealed that a large quantity of merchandise had been ordered online from the business. The suspect had the merchandise shipped out of state. When payment was not received, the victim contacted the alleged buyer, who informed the victim they did not order the merchandise and no product was delivered to them or any of their customers. The investigation is continuing.
Shoplifting / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 5 at 11:10 p.m., a female suspect was reported shoplifting from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Avenue. The suspect entered the business and selected merchandise. She approached the return counter and attempted to complete a return of the store merchandise with an altered identification card, which was denied.
She fled the store, but was detained by officers outside. The investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of narcotics, a wallet with stolen identification from Palm Springs and she had an outstanding warrant out of San Bernardino County. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Vehicle Burglary
January 6 at 9:34 p.m., a vehicle burglary was reported at a business parking lot in the 800 block of W. Huntington. The victim parked and locked her vehicle in the parking lot of the business and went inside. She returned to find her passenger window had been smashed and items had been taken from the front seat of her vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
Violation of Restraining Order – Suspect Arrested
January 7 at 11:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of N. Shamrock regarding the violation of a restraining order. The parent of the subject being protected by the restraining order called police and reported that his daughter's ex- boyfriend was at the location with his daughter. Officers arrived and located the subjects inside the residence. They arrested the male subject for violation of the restraining order.
Shoplifting / Fraud – Suspects Arrested
January 7 at 11:29 a.m., loss prevention from a business in the 1600 block of S. Mountain called police to report two male suspects attempting to commit fraud. The suspects selected merchandise from inside the store and were attempting to return the merchandise for credit. After the transaction was completed, one suspect was detained by officers, but the second fled the store on foot. Officers gave chase and eventually detained the suspect near Shamrock and Duarte Road. He was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Vandalism – Suspect Arrested
January 7 at 7:08 p.m., a vandalism incident was reported in the area of Magnolia and Huntington. A female and male subject who are boyfriend and girlfriend were involved in a verbal argument that escalated. The boyfriend punched the windshield of the victim’s vehicle, causing damage. The suspect was located driving away from the area and his vehicle was stopped by officers. He was arrested for the vandalism.
Commercial Burglary
January 8 at 10:38 a.m., a commercial burglary was reported at a business in the 900 block of W. Huntington. The manager of the business called police to report the front door of the business was unlocked and the store safe was open. Merchandise was taken from the safe. No suspects were located and the investigation is continuing.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
January 8 at 11:31 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 300 block E. Walnut regarding a theft of vehicle parts. The victim reported that someone had cut the catalytic converter off her Toyota Camry sometime during the night. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
January 8 at 6:29 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Pilgrim Way. The resident left the location at 6:00 p.m., locking and setting the alarm. The alarm company notified police of an activation to the rear door and interior motion. Officers arrived and discovered the rear door had been forced open. No suspects were located and nothing was found missing. The investigation is continuing.
Residential Burglary
January 8 at 8:08 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of E. Foothill regarding a burglary. The victim left the location at 4:30 p.m., securing the doors to the residence. The victim returned to find the kitchen window had been forced open and electronic items were missing. The investigation is continuing.

Neighborhood watch report January 2-5, 2017


Vandalism
January 2 at 6:09 p.m., a vandalism was reported in the 500 block of N. Alta Vista. The officer responded to the location regarding a damaged fence at a private lot. No one saw how the damage occurred. After reviewing surveillance video, it appeared a male adult was walking his dog up the hill off Sky Way on a private lot. The subject was unable to exit so he cut the chain link fence to exit the property. It is unknown where he entered from. He was last seen walking east down Sky Way and out of view. The investigation is continuing.
Counterfeit US Currency
January 3 at 3:10 p.m., a business in the 500 block of W. Huntington called police to report a patron attempting to pass a counterfeit bill. The suspect left the store prior to the police arrival. The suspect opened an account with a name, phone and email prior to making his purchase. As the suspect was leaving, the clerk realized the $100 bill was counterfeit. Further investigation revealed that the information the suspect used to open the store account was false. The investigation is continuing.
Grand Theft
January 3 at 5:13 p.m., an officer responded to a business in the 600 block of W. Huntington Dr. regarding the theft of a wallet. The victim told the officer she was approached by a female who distracted the victim by asking her information about store products. The suspect was able to take the victim’s wallet from her purse while she was distracted. The investigation is continuing.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
January 4 at 4:48 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a bicyclist for a vehicle code violation in the area of Foothill and Canyon. Further investigation revealed the subject had a $50,000 warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Monrovia Police Department where he was booked.
Violation of Court Order – Suspect Arrested
January 4 at 10:36 a.m., an officer responded to a call at a residence in the 200 block of
Stedman regarding a violation of a court order. The Victim was a parent who served her
son with a restraining order to stay away from the residence. The adult son was served
and refused to leave the property. The subject was arrested for the violation of court
order.
Mail Theft
January 4 at 4:14 p.m., a resident called the police to report a female subject was
stealing mail in the 500 block of Norumbega. The female was seen running with the mail
to an awaiting mid-size, silver truck. The vehicle sped off south on Norumbega. The
suspect was a female Hispanic between 20-30 years old wearing a white sweatshirt and
pants. The officers checked the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
The investigation is continuing.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
January 4 at 7:58 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of S.
Myrtle regarding a suspicious subject. Officers contacted the subject and an
investigation revealed the subject was too intoxicated and unable to take care of
himself. The suspect was arrested.

Residential Burglary
December 29 at 6:56 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 100 block of Sutter Creek Street. When officers arrived they discovered the front door was wide open and the glass door on the back side of the residence was shattered. The officers searched the residence but did not locate any suspects and the residence did not appear to be ransacked. The loss could not be determined until the owners take inventory. The investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Suspect Arrested
December 30 at 12:53 a.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for a vehicle code violation at the intersection of Myrtle and Huntington. When contacting the driver, the officer believed the driver might be under the influence of alcohol and after completing her investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and taken to the station for booking.
Felony Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 30 at 1:49 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of East Walnut when he noticed a known subject he thought had a warrant. Further investigation revealed the subject had a felony warrant. The subject was stopped and arrested per the authority of the warrant.
Driving Under the Influence / Unlicensed Driver – Suspect Arrested
December 30 at 1:57 a.m., an officer was in the area of Huntington and Magnolia when he stopped a driver for a vehicle code violation. When the officer contacted the driver, he saw symptoms of intoxication. After conducting an investigation, the driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and it was discovered he was driving without a license. The driver was arrested and taken to the station for booking.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 30 at 7:12 p.m., an officer on patrol was in the area of Myrtle & Chestnut when he observed a subject he recognized from prior contacts. A warrant check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested without incident.
Domestic Violence – Suspect arrested
December 30 at 11:09 p.m., an officer responded to a lobby call at the Monrovia Police Department regarding a domestic violence that occurred in the 200 block of East Central. A
husband and wife went out to have dinner with their 15 year old daughter and were arguing on
their way back home. Once the couple got home, they continued arguing and the male half
wrapped his arm around his wife's neck causing her to choke for a moment and leave a red
mark. The daughter witnessed the incident and drove to the station with her mom to report it.
An officer went to the location and arrested the male half for domestic violence.
Grand Theft
December 31 at 9:29 a.m., an officer responded to the report of a theft in the 800 block of East
Huntington Dr. Surveillance footage shows a male white suspect using bolt cutters to break the
coin dispenser at the drive-thru carwash. The suspect reached up into the machine and took
over $1,000 worth of bills from the machine. The suspect was in a silver 2-door Chevrolet
sedan with damage to the front. The investigation is continuing.
Tree Emergency
December 31 at 10:45 p.m., a caller reported a large tree on private property fell over and struck
three parked vehicles and blocked the entire street in the 300 block of W. Lime. Officers arrived
and made contact with the owners of the tree and parked vehicles. Public works responded and
began cutting the tree limbs to open the lanes of travel for Lime Ave. In addition to the major
damage to the vehicles, the sidewalk was also uprooted in front of the residence.
Warrant – Suspect Arrested
December 31 at 10:45 p.m., a resident in the 600 block of W. Colorado called police to report a
subject banging on her window. Officers arrived and made contact with a male subject and a
computer check revealed the subject had a warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested.
Public Intoxication – Suspect Arrested
December 31 at 11:17 p.m., an officer responded to a call in the 300 block of S. Myrtle
regarding an intoxicated subject who was attending the New Year’s Eve event in Old Town
Monrovia. The officer determined the subject was very intoxicated and unable to care for
himself. The subject was taken into custody, booked and held for a sobering period.
Battery Report
January 1 at 1:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of W. Olive to a
report of a fight in progress. Officers arrived and investigation revealed some type of altercation
between an employee and a patron took place and it is alleged the patron was battered. The
investigation is continuing.
Driving Under the Influence – Suspects Arrested
January 1 at 3:36 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle in the 900 block of S. Myrtle
commit a vehicle code violation. The officer stopped the driver of the vehicle and upon contact
noticed obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. Further investigation revealed the suspect was
driving while intoxicated and he was arrested. The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested
for being drunk in public.
Suspicious Circumstances
January 1 at 3:51 a.m., a resident in the 300 block of Heather Heights Ct. called to report a male
subject was attempting to gain access into her back yard. The subject was described as
wearing all black with a large dark jacket. The resident turned on her yard lights and it scared
the subject away. Officers searched the area but did not locate anyone. Officers located a bag
on the resident’s property that contained burglary tools.
On January 1 at 11:32 a.m., officers responded back to a call from the same resident in the 300
block of Heather Heights regarding a suspicious subject. The subject knocked on the resident’s
front door and asked for his tools back, he told the resident he was their neighbor from a nearby
street. The subject became upset when the resident told the subject that the police had his
tools.
The subject quickly left and got into a white Toyota Yaris driven by a female and headed
toward Scenic. Officers located the female driver in the 500 block of W. Lime and investigation
revealed she had warrants. The female suspect was arrested. While fleeing the area the male
subject dropped a backpack he was carrying. There appeared to be stolen property inside the
backpack. The investigation is continuing.
